Nice basic hallway shop with tasty grubbage! The have the typical sizes for the bread logs that they fill with the ninja chopped goodness. My girlfriend and I visited during the frozen falling of the sky issue (snowmaggedon) and it warmed/filled our bellies. We both had Chicken Phillies. I went with the full effect and she went without onion. Chasing the inside of my sandwich wasn't even annoying because it was so tasty. We met her folks there and they couldn't wait fifteen minutes for us and devoured their food before we arrived. I don't blame them I'd like to try more of their menu in the future. Tonight, our meal of 2 "shorty" sizes (7 inches), cheese fries, and one drink came out to $19 something. The base price for cheesesteaks or chicken steaks- 7 in - SHORTY $5.99 10 in - MEDIUM $8.99 16 in - BIGGY $11.99 and just some extra if you want extra this or that. Their cheesesteaks and hoagies are served on Amorosa Rolls, which are pillowy and just so puffy, perfect bread, perfect chew for the meaty goodness, cheese, and mushrooms! I ordered cheese fries today as well, and loved that the cheese (whiz-like) came in a separate little cup to prevent the fries from getting soggy. I put some on my cheesesteak as well; no such thing as too much cheese! Everything was so fresh. I have eaten at their original sub shop at London Bridge, several times, however, my experiences at their Red Mill spot has been very different. First of all, they are extremely understaffed. As a result, the wait for your food is ridiculous! I've waited for more than 30 minutes, just to pick up a couple of subs. I was hoping this was just growing pains, as they got this shop up and running, however, that does not seem to be the case. Their subs are average, at best. I was really looking forward to them opening a new sub shop in our area, but I'll be sticking with Zero's at this stage of the game. read more

A hoagie or cheesesteak is absolutely my favorite thing to eat. I've had them all over the country, but more importantly I've had them from every neighborhood in Philly, Delaware and South Jersey. It's almost impossible to say one place is the best. The thing that's unique to each one is that the lineage throughout the decades is lovingly made into almost all of them. I'm truly disappointed when someone uses the same type of ingredients and thinks they've made an authentic Philly hoagie or cheesesteak. I've known that the affiliated location of this place on great neck serves a very subpar sandwich, but today I really wanted a hoagie. I didn't want to drive into Norfolk to get one from the only place that has a semblance of a actual hoagie from Philadelphia. So I thought I'd give this location a shot, not knowing it was affiliated with the shop on great neck. This place is only slightly better, so that makes it subpar at best. See an actual hoagie can have the same ingredients, but if the meats and cheeses aren't quality and put together to accentuate one another it doesn't work. The lettuce has to support the dressing and the tomatoes and onions should be sliced in such a way that it adds to the whole experience. You can't put diced onions and chopped peppers and a thick cut tomatoes cut in half, with limpy canned pickles on a sandwich and call it authentic. Your pickles should be deli style and crisp almost right out of a barrel. Most importantly THE BREAD! The bread has to be able hold all of those items and not become a pile of spongy dough at the end of the sandwich. It's possible to get a true Philly italian roll shipped, heck Wawa actually bakes them on premise. The cost of that sandwich is way too much for such poor quality. In a true philadelphia hoagie or cheesesteak all those ingredients becomes one thing and the bread is holding it all together, but it's like your eating one masterpiece item. The next day it's still like one true masterpiece and the bread is still cradling all that goodness. read more

This place is new and local to the neighborhood I've lived in nearly my whole life so I was excited to check it out. It was the first day after "Snowmaggedon '18" and I wanted to warm up a bit with a hot sammich. Upon walking in I noticed it was nearly as cold inside as out. My dad asked if they had heat but apparently it's currently broken. I order the chicken philly and it was PERFECT! Hot, slightly crisped bread and topped with cheesy goodness! This is without question the best Cheesesteaks and Italian subs in the greater VB area. I would also be remiss if I didn't boast about the staff. I recently lost $140 and couldn't figure out where I lost it. On my next visit to Philly Cold Cuts, Jeff (I presume is the owner) asked me if I had recently lost money. I obviously responded yes, and he proceeded to go and give me back the $140 which had fallen out of my pocket onto the booth seat. I think overall this place was pretty good. I wouldn't say they have the best cheesesteak I've ever had, but it was satisfying. The bread was soft and they included plenty of meat and cheese. I think their prices were average for a sub shop. We ordered a shorty, the medium size cheesesteak and cheese fries for around $19. Probably my favorite thing about this place is their ventilation lol. One of my worst nightmares is smelling like onions and fried food. I walked out not actually smelling like food! And they were busy when we went too. Whenever I go into anther sub shop, ugh I need to shower right after. I think something that could be improved is the ambiance? Don't get me wrong, they were polite employees, but considering the sign said something like "smiling faces," I didn't see very many. Just for the record I have to give this place at least a one star rating but it deserves a 0 star rating. I was so excited to eat at this place because I had heard they made good cheesesteaks. I was born in Philadelphia but grew up in SC. I used to go to Philly in the summertime after 4th of July until school started in August. I consider myself to be a cheese steak snob, very particular about what I consider to be an authentic Philly Cheesesteak. After years and years of trying, I believe I have found a true authentic Cheesesteak outside of the 215 area code. Every Saturday I'm in town, I find myself at this establishment ordering multiple steaks to feed the family. What keeps me coming back is the authenticity of the experience. First, the Cheesesteaks. Philly Cold Cuts uses authentic Amoroso rolls. As you can see from the picture I've posted the meat use to fill the roll, fills the entire roll. They offer a double meat option that I haven't tried. I can only imagine how filling that would be. The meat is seasoned to perfection and comes topped just how you like it. I order some steaks with ketchup and no fried onions and others with ketchup, mayo and fried onions. I have never received a steak not prepared as ordered to satisfy the picky eaters in my home. We prefer American cheese but if you like cheese wiz or lettuce and tomatoes, you can have that too. The steak is not soggy and dripping with grease. The onions used are not overpowering. To add to the Philly feel, you can get Herr's potato chips or cream sodas. The walls are adorned with articles highlighting Philly sports championships. If eating an authentic Philadelphia Cheesesteak is something you prefer to eating an ok imitation Philly Cheesesteak then I highly recommend you make a trip to Nimmo Parkway and check them out.
