I recently moved to BR from San Diego and back home, I had a go to spot for cheesesteak sandwiches-Gaglione Brothers (where my mouth waters just thinking about their sandwiches...) so this place was on my "got to try" restaurant list. I ordered the regular sized VOODOO because I saw that it had steak, chicken, AND shrimp...as I bit in to the sandwich, I looked for the shrimp....turns out there was only 1 small shrimp in my last bite of my whole sandwich. Although the ratio of the meats were disappointing, the balance of the BBQ SAUCE with the pepper jack cheese was on point! The side fries were made to order and the amount of salt they sprinkled on it was perfect (not too salty, not too little). My husband ordered the large sized LOADED sandwich. He chose it because he saw "PIZZA SAUCE" in the description of the sandwich. He was also very happy with his sandwich and was very full after finishing the sandwich and half of his cheese fries. (He is a cheese lover and he loved the amount of cheese they put on his fries!) The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very friendly and nice! While we were there around 1pm, most of the tables were filled and even when we were almost leaving, there were still people coming in! I haven't had good cheesesteak outside of Philly, but this is definitely one of the better cheesesteaks around. The flavor profile is all there. I like the mix of different options. In Philly, it's either wiz with or without. Lol. Only thing I don't like is not eating it fresh there. They wrap it tight in foil wrap, and the bread is super soggy when u Togo. The philly cheesesteak sammiches here are the best I've ever eaten. Non-greasy and served hot, they are just perfect. Bread is excellent, and every time I go, my sandwich tastes exactly like the last time. Also, if I may be so bold, their french fries are worth breaking your diet for. Long, perfectly squared fries that will be amongst your favorites for sure. If I have one complaint, and I do, it's that there never seems to be enough seating. I often meander along the walkway in front of the seldom used storefronts in the shopping center wondering why anyone would do hot yoga, when you could just eat the best philly cheesesteak in town instead. Flexibility is one thing ladies, but guys want a girl who looks like she's recently eaten a cheesesteak and fries so we can relax... and eat a cheesesteak and fries. I'm actually very disappointed that I waited so long to try this place. It's not very often that I crave a cheesesteak but last week I was and headed to the store for ingredients. Realizing halfway to the grocery that I have no idea how to make my own, we decided to try philly me up since we have passed it so many times. As soon as we parked and got put of the car, I knew this was the place to go because the smell was incredible. The staff was very friendly and ordering was easy. We tried The Shroom and the Chicken Cheesesteak and both were amazing. I was actually more excited to try the shroom but the chicken was seriously NEXT LEVEL. The flavor combos were amazing. This is the best Philly I've had in the Baton Rouge area. It's amazing how "regional" foods can't seem to make it here. I think is is a little small for the price, but, food in Baton Rouge is Stupid Expensive compared to the better version of most things in New Orleans. read more

The staff was very nice and man was it busy! We waited about 10-15 minutes for our meals, but it was worth the wait! At first look I was amazed. I could not wait to take a bite. Note: that's why there are a few bites missing in my picture. Flat out mouth watering. It really didn't need any extra seasoning. I got one of the veggie subs with chips and a drink. It was about $8. My husband got a steak and cheese with fries and a drink which was about $10. We both could not finish our meals they were so big. I suggest getting the small and not the regular. It was a nice, quiet little place that most people would probably not give a second look at, but I will definitely be back soon with an empty stomach for another one of their delicious subs or salads! read more

Baton Rouge is not know for their philly cheesesteaks, but I have found a great little place that is definitely knows their way around a pretty amazing cheesesteak sandwich! I have tried several items from their menu, but there is not anything in particular that I encourage you to try...I encourage you try them all! If you do have to recommend one..."The Loaded" is de-lish...it is exactly what it is...loaded with great steak, mushrooms, cheese. YUMMY!!! Really wanted a GOOD philly and this hit the spot! Bread was soft and delicious, steak was tender and lean, spices were just right. Highly recommend getting extra cheese and the sweet peppers and the hot cherry peppers! Also got the cheese steak fries and those were wonderful too. Thank you for an all around great experience. Our first time trying Philly Me Up and it was great. The lady at the register was laughing and haveing a good time with customers, super friendly to us, very helpful. It was packed with the lunch rush crow and our food came out smoking hot and delicious. I had The Shroom and it was the best Philly Cheese Steak I've ever had. I am impressed. I also ordered the cheese fries, thank you for making Cheese Fries, everywhere you go now days makes cheese fries with shredded cheese and you end up with a giant stuck mess, NOT here, the cheese was like nacho cheese over hot fries, I could order just that. They were so good. My husband ordered the beer battered onion rings which were great also and he has the Cajun Philly, it was spicy and packed with flavor. He enjoyed it. Finally had a chance to catch lunch at Philly Me Up on Friday and it was worth the wait. Splitting my time between Baton Rouge and the Philadelphia-area due to my husband's work I'm more than a little familiar with cheesesteak even though i don't eat meat. I had the shrimp hoagie with white American grilled peppers and onions and on an authentic Philly hoagie roll from Amoroso's and it was soft and warm and a little bit spicy and just cheesy enough to be perfect. I had the combo which included fries and a drink. The fries were good though it would have been amazing if they offered crab fries which you can find all over the Philadelphia area and would have made this meal outstanding. The service was polite and even though particularly busy service was also fast and friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been and like a good hoagie or cheesesteak as they have tons of options many with a south Louisiana twist. read more

While out running errands, I decided to stop by for a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. I've had the sandwich many times before, and never a problem. The cashier that took my order was super nice, even complimented me on my appearance. The issue came when the original young lady went to the restroom, and the back up lady stepped up to take orders. Seemed like she was also very friendly. The problem I have is that once she finished taking orders and counting out money, SHE DID NOT WASH HER HANDS. She went right back to cutting tomatoes. Just as my number was called I grabbed my food and left. I sat in my car to call the manager so that he could address what I had just witnessed. I was told that he was busy and couldn't talk. No problem. Maybe he will read this. With COVID and other germs, she definitely should have washed her hands after handling money and also worn gloves while touching raw veggies. *I didn't return my food as I watched the guy make my sandwich. Kind of obscure, but this place seems to get a lot of business despite seemingly tucked away in a corner. Lots of sandwich choices to choose from including subs, wraps, and even salads. I got a regular Philly cheesesteak sub, and a loaded sub, as well as the Philly cheesesteak wrap, and fries. They don't skimp on the amount of meat that goes into these sandwiches, as they are quite literally packed to the brim. Everything was delicious, but I actually liked the wrap more because it was less messy to eat and the lettuce with whatever sauce that it came with blended together very well to my taste buds. Everything is reasonably priced, and the fries were very solid-- standard thick cut fries that were lightly seasoned. 100% recommend and will definitely be visiting this place more often. read more

BEST CHEESESTEAK IN BR When I first moved to Baton Rouge I was on a mission to find the best burger, burrito and cheesesteak in town. I was thrilled to find Philly Me Up. It's truly a family owned restaurant. Often you'll find Josh, his wife or his mother working behind the counter. They are very friendly and make eveyone feel welcome. Ive been dining here since they first opened and have watched the menu grow over the years. I personally am a huge fan of their mushroom cheesesteak. To make it even more delicious I ask them to add sweet peppers. They load up each sandwich with a LOT of meat and cheese. They dont skimp on the fillings like other places. The fries are great too and they're some of the longest I've ever seen. I keep telling myself I'll try a new sandwich the next time I go but I keep going back to that delicious shroom cheesesteak, its just too d@mn good! read more
