The decor and atmosphere are pretty lo-fi, but the guys working here are generally pretty friendly and the cheesesteak sandwich is right on. $6 for a decent sandwich, fries, and a drink for lunch is great. It's usually pretty busy at lunchtime, so try getting there a little before 12. I almost always get they philly steak with just the grilled stuff and "vitamins" aka hot sauce. They're generally a little light on the cheese, so make sure to speak up if you want yours cheesy. read more

They do not skimp out on the meat and cheese, and this is one of the few places that offers mushrooms on your Philly, and I absolutely love mushrooms. I think about 90% of my high school(alumni and current students) will swear by this place. It was awesome back in the day and not much has changed. A great place to get a cheap lunch. I went to this place because of the reviews. I was severely disappointed. The place looked grungy. There is black dirt and sludge near in every corner. The meat on the cheese steak was almost like beef jerky. It was as if someone was going to make jerky and half way between drying it all the way they decided to use it for sandwiches. The fries weren't any better than what you can make at home. To me the place looked like the owners and every one working there had given up on making the place presentable. I won't be back here. Boom! My kinda joint. Super simple menu, no frills, nothing fancy. Get in, get a sub, get out. I had ordered a chicken philly, but got a steak & chicken mix. It was AWESOME! Good spices, nice bread, and the cheese wasn't liquified. I'm throughly impressed. If I had to guess its a family operation which makes it earn more points. $9 for a 12" combo with fries? Hit this place for lunch today as I was craving a philly. Pretty busy which was good and it's just a few mins from my house so that's a plus. My sandwich was great. Cheese was nicely melted, bread was excellent and got a little soft on my ride home which was great. Meat was tender and had good flavor to it. Kinda wish I had got more from the fries but the sandwich was the main event can't really complain a whole lot about the undercard. I just ate there today. They used to load the subs down with steak...I got half of which I used too in the past. The fries still suck. They did change to great fries, but now back to the same disappointing fries. The son (young kid, overweight) has very poor customer service skills. I will go less often now if at all. Going Downhill. I've been coming here for over a decade, their Philly Steaks are great. Lately the place has not been well kept or maintained. This is obvious from how dirty everything is. My last two trips were at slow times and the restaurant was messy everywhere. The only staff member was at a booth on a laptop. He either didn't notice or didn't care. I spent 15 years in restaurant kitchens and I know the difference between a mess left over from a busy shift and a mess left over from days of neglect. The drink fountain had black model on the bottom grate. The floors were spotty with drink stains and large sized debris. The line was left as-is and barely cleaned up. You guys could be the best, you don't need a restaurant make over, just some hard work put into maintaining what you already have. I hope the next time I stop in the sanitation matches the food. read more

Great Cheese Steak sandwich. Very tender chopped steak with lots of meat. The bread appears to be fresh baked and perfect. Highly recommend.

Phillies are still phenomenal but the dining room is dirty and run down. The ketchup bottles don't appear to be cleaned and and the pepper shakers don't work cause they're clogged with old pepper. It's a shame because the food is really good! read more

The two workers/managers seem friendly. The TV is loud so I sat as far away as I could. I agree the inside needs a makeover. It's a bright yellow and purple. It's not as dirty as I expected but not what I'd call clean. I watched the manager walk back and forth ignoring a napkin on the floor. Surprised he didn't pick it up or sweep it up. They serve Pepsi not Coke. Soda machine could really use a cleaning. It's kind of grimey. I agree with some other reviewers. Steak meat is over seasoned and fries are bland. Grab some pepper for the fries. I learned that mayo goes really well with a cheesesteak. Overall though, I didn't like it enough to want to go back. If you want pretty and fancy, this is not the place. I really like their chicken philly. Again, it is not to be mistaken for a real Philly Sandwich but for the coat and deal, it is a great but. I have to say that this was one of the filthiest places I had ever eaten in my life. At first glance it just looks old and ran down, that I can forgive but after actually sitting there and eating I started to notice how filthy everything was. I worked in food service for 15 years and was a certified food safety manager and its mind boggling to me that any sanitarian would pass this place during a walk through. I saw at least 25-30 violations just from my seat. Not to mention the guy behind the counter in regular street cloths that were filthy, no apron, no hat, no hair net or anything. The food was not good, except for the fries. The steak had no seasoning, the only cheese available was provolone, the bread was not fresh.... Overall it was just flat out gross. I would not go back there is my meal was going to be free. The owner should shut down and thoroughly clean, paint and renovate the entire place. read more

The two guys working there don't really care if you walk in the door or not. No friendly greeting, seemed like they were in a fog. They wait on you when they get ready. Once ordered the food comes out fast, way over cooked. I agree with others, the fries are tasteless . I like a place where I feel good about happy owners or workers, not here. Want go back. I use to go to this place 3-4 times a week. The prices were great back then & the people there cared about you & the food they gave you. Now, the sons of the owner took over. They are not as nice & friendly as the past employees. The prices have gone up about twice a year since they took over as well. DO NOT GET THE FRIES, they SUCK! I have told them about this as well & they do nothing about it. It was my favorite Philly Steak place, now I barely go! The Philly steak is still pretty good, but the service & pricing now keep me away. Another note: It used to get VERY crowded during lunch, it was hard to find a seat to eat. Not sure if it still gets that crowded, I'm not the only one who has stopped going. It's a very small store. The Philly Subs are great! read more

Went here for the first time today. Can't believe that I have worked two blocks away from this place for 6 months and just now discovered it. Is it your Philly street vendor cheesesteak? No, but from what I have had in the area, it's pretty effin good! I had the steak with onions, shrooms, mayo and hot peppers (always found putting lettuce and tomatoes on a cheesesteak sacrilegious). Steak was seasoned, but not too much and not chewy. Bread was the shizznizzle!! (baked in house) I went in @ 12:30 for lunch, placed my order and by the time I went to the restroom and washed my hands, it was time to pay and head out the door.
