Rarely does a franchise get the Stevie K. Certified legit designation but this place is that good. The seeded roll is the key but they also load it up with meat. This isn't a skimpy sandwich. I love the Italian and my new love is the Suprimo - prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers. I add cherry peppers for just the right amount of heat and balsamic vinegar. I visited as a first time visitor to try the steak and cheese hoagie. The meat was well cooked, seasoned, and cooked to order. I did not enjoy the sesame seed bun, because I do not like that type of bread. I ordered the 9" hoagie, and I enjoyed every bite. A fresh sandwich is always exciting. Pros: Well-assembled, generously filled and interesting subs on good crusty rolls. I especially like the Crusher, with turkey, Cooper Sharp, and chopped pepper shooters, and the roast beef Schwarzie. Service is prompt and friendly. Cons: A little expensive (but good quality). Large variety of chips but all Herr's which I don't care for. No indoor seating, so not a pleasant place to eat in cool or rainy weather or unless you live nearby. read more

Let's say 3.5. The location is as described by everyone else - very small, no indoor seating, no fountain beverages, and being North Hills, the parking can be challenging. Pros: The bread is actually pretty decent. It's far better than most available locally. The meats are good, too, and they have sharp provolone. The sandwiches are heavily stuffed - a 6-inch hoagie would have been more than enough for me. Most of the sandwiches sound appealing and I love that their tuna is not pre-mixed with mayo. And my partner is ecstatic that they have roast pork with broccoli rabe. Which brings us to the Cons: That pork and broccoli rabe sandwich was served refrigerator cold. We've never seen it that way anywhere else. I mean, cold broccoli rabe? Ick. The menu didn't say it was served hot, but it doesn't tell you the cheesesteaks are hot, either. It shouldn't have to. That's just the way it's done. And the long wait that everyone mentioned? It's crazy long, even with 3 people working the line and the cashier jumping in to help between customers. I have no idea what takes so long. I also have a real problem with how the lead was treating the cashier. That woman was trying her best to be helpful and deliver good customer service and the lead was treating her miserably. It was not nice to watch. Conclusion: I'll give them another chance because the sandwiches were good but I will be sure to order ahead, verify that sandwiches are served at the temperature I expect, and not go in the winter. read more

My friend told me about this place so I figured I'll try it out. I was highly disappointed. I got an Italian Hoagie which is their best selling item. The roll was very tough as if it was stale. The sandwich was way too salty. Not sure if the meat was already salty or they added more salt to it. I asked for oil and vinegar but couldn't taste any at all. It is a small shop with no room to sit inside. They do have a couple of tables outside but if it cold out or raining then they are pretty much unusable. I don't I'll be going back. Visited the new Fayetteville St location. We had the tuna and also veggie which were fantastic. The veggie mix was tasty and nicely seasoned. Fresh bread made all the difference. I'm all about an awesome sub shop! This spot is right when you turn in, by the entrance to the Harris Teeter garage. I ordered online, it said 35 minutes, but I arrived early and it was ready. If you order online just know your sandwiches will be in the bag, but you have to get all your a la cart sides and dessert items directly from the case. If I hadn't looked in the bag, I would have walked out without half of my order. I got the sharp Italian and it was delicious! I'm always a fan of Italian grinders and this one did not disappoint. I got the small size and it was stuffed full, definitely substantial. My husband got the chicken parm and his sandwich was much smaller. I'd personally stick with more of the deli cuts. I thought the sides were awesome. I loved the marinated mozzarella and the pasta salad was spot on. I also enjoyed the rice pudding for dessert. I look forward to grabbing subs here again! read more

I've been to Primo 3 times, and each sandwich has been on the money. I love the substantial, hearty sesame roll, and the quality of the ingredients seems pretty high for a chain. I've had three various versions of their Italian: The Sharp Italian, Italian Diablo, and the Old Italian. They've all been so good, it's gonna be hard to branch out past the solid Italian options. My wife got the Big T on a wrap, and really enjoyed it as well. Service was a little slow in the beginning, but I think they have it figured out now. I've had mixed experiences here. The first 3 times were pretty decent. But the 4th was inedible. I tried contacting their customer service both on their website and then through twitter with no response. It's been a week and no response to my reasonable message to them about the problem I experienced. Having worked in kitchens and in the hospitality industry for the majority of my life, I'm familiar with a lot that goes on in a restaurant. The staff is always pretty friendly. The fridge is usually stocked with sides and such. Seems clean. So the front of the house seems in check. Back of the house/kitchen, not so much. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich. Pretty basic. And this hoagie is made using ingredients that they have on many other sandwiches. The problem: My chicken was more like jerky than a moist chicken cutlet. This wasn't from over-frying. This was from sitting after cooking for far too long. When I bit into my sandwich, I couldn't chew through it. Really disgusting. So perhaps stick with deli meat sandwiches here. I've not had a problem with those. They have tons of options. Lots of unique ones. I hope they figure out quality control. I'll probably try it again at some point, and if no issues I'll update the review. I want it to be awesome but they missed the mark. read more

First off: there is very limited seating and it's 100% outside. Keep this in mind, it's more of a "to-go" place. There are 4 tables outside, that's it. It's also pricey. For a family of 4, 4 subs, chips and drinks it was over $60. Maybe a sign of the times, but that seems expensive for sandwiches. Those are the cons. The pros: Excellent food. The bread is really good- crisp outside, soft inside. The deli meat is fresh and thin cut. We got a variety of sandwiches. Turkey, roast beef, chicken. All excellent. I went to Primo's yesterday for the first time. The subs were very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. I bought the rice pudding and it was a little looser than I like it to be but had a good flavor. Now the dirt pudding...freaking amazing 10/10 recommend getting this for the kiddos and adults. Pasta salad was good, we all know store bought pasta salad can be a gamble but this did not disappoint. The sharp Italian was spot on. I wish I had gotten it toasted that would have been chef's kiss! This Italian themed eatery is located in the heart of North Hills. I ordered a 6" whacked chicken and a 9" soprano. My whacked chicken sub was okay, I don't have to order it again, but that's not to say I won't return here because they have plenty of other menu items to choose from. The whacked chicken was just two fried circular chicken Patties with pesto and cheese. They forgot the bruschetta but even with that, I think I would have preferred chicken in a different form. My friend loved their Soprano sub though, only making the comment that the peppers could have been hotter. The staff was super friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in. They made both of my items pretty fast as well. They also serve to go portions of their sides and dips, as well as plenty chip options. If I happen to be in the area again (and can find parking), I would return because I appreciate the variety of the menu, their decent prices, and their friendly staff. read more

Came in at a non peak time to order a sandwich. Walked in and the cashier was eating a sandwich which is fine it gets busy during lunch time. They rung up my order and proceeded to grab gloves and bread to make my sandwich. I asked them if they could wash their hands before making my food and they were unhappy with my request. Only after I asked did they proceed to wash their hands while simultaneously making comments that they weren't touching my food directly so it shouldn't matter (even though in NC's food code manual it literally states after eating you have to wash your hands). They then called out someone else from the back of the store to come and make my sandwich and continued to make remarks to the other workers about how I was in the wrong for this request. Based on this interaction, I will never come back or support this business. read more

I've been here twice now and I'm a fan. I got a prosciutto sandwich the first time but I forget the name and this time the Bada Bing. I'm from The North and get that the hoagies there are heavy on oil & vinegar or which ever dressing comes with it, but they definitely have a heavy hand and depending on who's making your sandwich, the amount will vary. This being said, both sandwiches I've tried were flavorful and they were not shy on the meat and cheese. The Herr's chips are a must get as well. IYKYK. The service was good but it came from one of the Employees that wasn't at the register. She knew that menu like she knew her name. Don't get me wrong the guy at the register was helpful but didn't seem like a people person. For a walk-I'm sandwich shop it's got a cozy welcoming feel and nice patio seating if the weather permits. TLDR: A pretty good, if expensive, sandwich shop, especially if you're craving a particular kind of sub. The location here is basically takeout only because there are only a couple outdoor tables, but they offer like 50 different sandwiches combining their core ingredients and a lot of unique toppings. It's expensive! I love Jersey Mike's, but a Giant (minimum 2 people) for $16 feels kinda pricey; here it's like $27. To be clear, I've never had a bad sandwich here, even more esoteric choices like the corned beef & coleslaw or the no-mayo tuna subs are really great. But for the price the primary value is for things you literally can't get anywhere else in the area: a roast pork & broccoli rabe sub, a really quality meatball, a spicy Italian with two kinds of ham and stuffed pepperoncinis. But if you wanted to save a few dollars, or want a simpler sandwich, I really would say to just go to Jersey Mike's. read more

I got the Italian the the deli meat was good but the pepper toppings definitely overpower the deli meat taste. The peppers were just a little too sweet for my taste and I had to remove some. The bread was on the hard and chewy side. Overall it was just a ok sub for a high price. I paid about 20 dollars for a medium sub, chips and a bottle of pepsi.
