I've tried Boos, Whiz and Figueroa Philly, but Philly's best is by far my favorite. It's super authentic and they get their ingredients shipped over from Philly. I love their cheese steak fries. Great subs whether you go with a Philly cheese steak or chicken steak. Bread is always perfect! I haven't tried their burgers or hoagies yet. The cheese fries are a bust though, in my opinion - wasn't a fan of the type of cheese they use (like valveta or cheese whiz - but hey if you like that, you're in luck). Phillys best was way good! They have some awesome sweet peppers they put on it, which really calls out the different flavors. They do add a lot of onion, but scrape it off, cause the flavor of the onion and the meat is all you need... Really good, made fresh in about 3-5 min!! read more

We love Philly's Best, have eaten at different locations in south county. San Clemente location has very professional and attentive employees. Food was excellent my only negative is that they don't seem to put as much meat in sandwich as other locations, maybe because it's new. We will still be back. We are so excited they came to our city. Just checked this place out for the first time... Heard around town it was a must try... Little disappointed in my expectations... I ordered the mushroom burger, my fiancé ordered the traditional Philly cheesesteak... We settled on taking it home instead of eating it there... Just to get home to find my order was wrong- the burger was over cooked... And the meat on the cheesesteak was less than par. It seems like they still need some training with their staff... Love Philly's Best, just not this one. They NEVER get the order right. I JUST GOT HOME WITH 5 cheese steaks and all of them are wrong. This has happened 3 times this year. Don't even think of ordering over the phone. You have to go in and babysit you order. Even with that you have a 50/50 chance of getting what you want. Wow, what a diiference between all of these reviews and my experience. I read the reviews and that was enough for me to check out their famous Philly sandwich. I was hoping for the best but got less than mediocre. The bread was soggy, the cheese bland and the the french fries were the worst. Service was poor even though when I entered at11:45 AM there was no one else there and the staff acted like I was not even there. I asked for a water and never got one so ate what I could stomach and threw about a third of the sandwich in the trash and almost all of the frenchfries and vowed never to come back. read more

I was excited when you came to my part of town, But I am not impressed. I had the chicken philly and my husband had cheesesteak and my daughter the burger. We all liked the fries but for $35.00 total we were shocked. Food quality not good. Maybe we are spoiled by the habit. They are much more family friendly with selection and prices. BTW. So I've pretty much had it with this place. I really like the food, particularly the Italian or turkey sub. I crave it, and around where I live there aren't really any other places to get a good Italian sub. On several occasions I've come during normal posted business hours and they've been closed. One time was on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm. It's pretty ridiculous to be closed regularly during normal business hours. Really frustrating when you craving a Italian sub from them and can't get one. So I finally caught them open at 8:10pm(they supposedly close at 9pm) I walk up and all the chairs are up on the tables and a guy is mopping the floor. I open the door and ask him if they're open, he seems annoyed but says yeah. I walk in wait a couple minutes for a girl to walk up to the counter. I order a mushroom steak for the hubby and then order my Italian sub, and guess what? She says they don't make cold sandwiches during the last hour and all the cold stuff is already put away. At this point I should have just left, but I was hungry so I just ordered a cheesesteak. I also ordered cheese fries. Normally, when I've ordered cheese fries to go, they put the cheese sauce in separate containers from the fries, as they should cause who wants soggy fries. Well this time, not only did they put in all together in one container, but they put the container in the bag sideways so the container leaked and I also had a glob of mushy cheese fries by the time I got home. Uncool. There used to be a really awesome guy who was either the manager or assistant manager, but once I stopped seeing him in there the place has totally gone to shit. I've been to a number of these folks locations and always have the chicken mushroom onions no cheese. Love them. This is supposed to be the new iteration of the franchise, and this is my first visit to this location. So here goes: well staffed nice folks fast service, clean and attractive, good taste. However, they have cut back on the amount of meat, and cut out the pickle and pepper bar at this location. Oops, they didn't, they hid it in the back by the coke dispenser. But I didn't discover that til I looked at the pictures after I got home. So, there's way more bread roll than filling. And, no way to dress up your sandwich. Opps, my bad. They hid the condiments whereas in all the other outlets they are in plain sight. But I shouldn't have needed Sgt. Preston of the Yukon and his dog to find them. I took mine home and added my own pickles and peppers. But I shouldn't have had to. Pitiful. So, make the condiments findable and add some filling. We will pay gladly to have the filling to roll ratio upped. Your fifth star is waiting. read more

They got my order wrong. I ordered a Hoagie with Turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, oil & vinegar and oregano. But when I unwrapped it, there was no lettuce, tomato or oregano. Just a stick in the throat turkey and cheese. A simple order and nobody checked it. Sloppy way to do business. read more

Driving up the 5 from Legoland, was hit by a craving for a cheesesteak. Random, I know, but we yelped and found Philly's Best. Surprisingly big menu, so we were happy to find something for the whole family. My cheesesteak had everything on it- peppers, shrooms, fried onions. It was delicious, plus the bread was perfect: soft but stands up to all the meat and cheese. Also, try the pizza fries! All that cheese can't be too good for your aorta, but worth it every once in a while. Really glad to find the place and we'll definitely come back when we're in the area. read more
