First time to a Philly's Best. Ive been to Charley's and great steak escape, but this is a different level. They make an effort to keep it authentic with bread and dessert imported from Philly, but put their own spin on it with things like Philly cheesesteak fries. Think carne asada fries but cheesesteaks! The cook is also from Philly I went with a few friends and we got a little bit of everything and everything was damn good. The owner gave a few recommendations that were spot on too: 1. The dill pickles (free at the pickle bar) 2. Add marinara sauce to pepperoni cheesesteak. So good. Onion rings are usually a splurge over fries, but I would recommend the fries over the rings. I was on vacation and stopped by this place for a quick snack :) I was greeted by the nicest waitstaff that served up a great pepper steak with mushrooms. And of course I got the cheesesteak fries...how could you leave without an order of that haha. If you want something slightly healthier, of course they have the salads too. Am I embarrassed that I ate Philly's Best two days in a row? NEVER!!!!! Granted I've never had an authentic Philly cheesesteak from Philly before, the ones here are delicious! My boyfriend has been to Philly and he says the cheesesteaks they have here aren't too far from the authentic ones over on the east coast! We shared "Philly's Best" which is cheesesteak with sweet peppers and mushrooms (order it with Cheese Whiz!) it was so mouthwatering, delicious, juicy steak and overflowing with oozing cheese. I couldn't get enough of it. One cheesesteak is MORE THAN ENOUGH for 2 people. We were literally so full. Add the free hot cherry peppers to your cheesesteak! It gives the sandwich a spicy kick. We also ordered the Italian Market salad which comes with Capicola, Genoa salami, mortadella and provolone cheese served on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and onions. Fresh salad prepared right in front of you! Huge chunks of meat and cheese. Glad to know Philly's Best is right down the street from my boyfriends house, we will definitely be back often! read more

I had two sandwiches and didn't notice till I got home that they cost almost double than before the virus. $21 for 2 Phillies is a bit much. These poor people have to charge so much to survive, it's a lose lose because that pricing is not sustainable for what is essentially fast food. The sandwiches are still good! This was once one of my favorite places to eat. During the 2020 pandemic I continued to go here regularly through half the summer. Since I work outside I need to use the restrooms of the businesses that I patron. This business would not let me use their restrooms. In fact they kept them closed until a few months into 2021. I had to walk across the street and use the bathrooms at The Habit instead. I called corporate 3 times over the course of 3 months requesting they open their bathrooms like the surrounding stores but they refused. I estimate they lost out on about $500 that I would have normally spent there over the next year. After they finally reopened everything I did go back 2 times. The old guys that ran the place were no longer working there and the sandwiches tasted like garbage compared to previously. Now I just buy my lunches at other places and no longer support this chain at all :( Phillys was one of my favorite place to eat lunch for over a decade. read more

Nice clean new location. I have eaten at the Aliso Viejo and Lake Forest locations on many occasion. Same consistency as those stores , so I wasn't disappointed. I only get a steak sandwich and fries here so I can't comment on other items. But as always I enjoyed my sandwich. I have a great place in my hometown that I loved so I was hesitant to try a new place but I had a craving. This place was great! Sometimes when you get a plain philly it can be small and not filled out with lack of peppers, onions etc but my sandwich was filled out beautifully. I had plenty of meat and gooey cheese stuffed into the soft roll. I was so anxious to eat it, I opened it in the car and ate half on the way home. I go to this location every time I am on my lunch break and all of the people are usually very nice. Since I work in the plaza I was informed by the manager that I can receive 10% off my food. This store is a bit dirty overall which normally isn't a big deal for a place that serves cheesesteaks but the problem really lies in the cleanliness of the food serving utensils. I grabbed my order from the counter and immediately could feel the "grime" and grease on the bottom of the tray! I flipped the tray over and rubbed a napkin along the bottom, it was filled with greasy, brown gunk! I went to the front cashier to ask if they wash the trays and she let me know they do. I showed her the dirty napkin and she said they will clean it better. I ask for the manager so that I could explain the situation, I don't want to stop coming here completely, but he was busy. Long story short is that I'm bummed this place seems to have little to no leadership and that employees don't seem to understand how customer service works. I feel like I need to preface this review by first saying that I'm a huuuuuuge lover of philly cheesesteaks.... huge. So although I do get pretty excited whenever trying a new spot for the first time, I also tend to set some pretty high expectations for them as well. So yea, I was pretty happy after taking that first bite and realizing I had just discovered a new legit spot I could add to my somewhat short list of cheesesteak places in California that I think are far above the rest and worth visiting. The sandwich I got was so good! I ordered the pepperoni cheesesteak, which I highly recommend to anyone that loves pepperoni, as the savoriness and flavor of their cheesesteak was awesome combined with the saltiness of their pepperoni. I also thought the meat to bread ratio of their sandwich was perfect! Sidenote I absolutely hate going to cheesesteak places that skimp when it comes to the meat. I feel like that should be illegal or something as it goes against the very definition of what a philly cheesesteak is. It's like going to a waterslide park that's trying to conserve water (no offense California water drought, I see you). Me and my friend also ordered a side of their fries and onion rings which I thought were both really really good not just in flavor but also their crispy texture. I came on the weekend when there was a bit of a line but it moved surprisingly quick with workers that were very friendly and helpful. When I was growing up in fountain valley, I used to frequent the original location all the time so when I came to this Philly's Best years later, I was SUPER excited and knew exactly what to order - original with extra ranch on the side to dip. It was exactly like I remembered it -- every bite full of delicious meat, melted cheese, and drenched with ranch on a soft bread roll.
