I found Philly's through Yelp as I was searching for a local Eagles bar. This did not disappoint, it's so close to me and I can't believe I've never been! The bar and restaurant are much bigger than they look in pics (especially the restaurant side) and the TVs are great. I loved sitting on the bar side, it was perfect for football. Our service was amazing and the happy hour prices really can't be beat! Especially for Scottsdale! I had the Margherita pizza and it was SO FLIPPIN GOOD! Not what I was expecting. I loved it and will definitely go back. The only negative is customers can smoke on the patio. So when you're sitting in the bar area, the smoke kept traveling inside, which sucked. Got pretty lucky in that this place was down the street from my hotel. After about 1/2 mile walk I found this place busy on a Tuesday night. Gina, my bartender, was super nice and great to talk to. Because it was Tuesday, their dinner specials included $4 tacos and $4.5 beers. Not many places offer Negro Modelo so I had to get a couple of those and I chose the fish tacos; fried on a corn tortilla. They were really really good. Gina suggested I try the green pork tacos, so I will have to find my way back. The place is huge and compartmentalized. So if you're with a friends, you can choose the inside or outside bar. Both had plenty of people tonight. There are other parts of the restaurant where you could have a quiet date night. They have a pool table too. I missed their Happy Hour so I will have to look into that the next time I come around. Definitely hoping to come back when I travel through Phoenix area of AZ. read more

The menu is huge so we had a hard time deciding what to eat. We went with the original Philly, the Buffalo tenders, crab fries and a pizza. The bread on the Philly was so fresh, it's hard to find a sandwich with great bread out here in AZ. The Buffalo tenders were yummy and the blue cheese dressing was homemade. Phillys is one of our local watering holes that has surprisingly tasty food. They have many TVs for sports and if they showing a UFC the cover is like $5. We live close enough to ride our bikes/scooters in the warmer weather. We used to go for Tuesday night trivia which is also fun. Bartenders and servers are friendly. We tend to sit outside on the patio at the bar so I can't really report how it is inside but seems fine. They have a pool table and dart board inside. There are multiple locations however we've only been to this one. Philly's is by no means fancy/ high brow but it's not meant to be. It's a sports bar with good beer selection and decent priced drinks with tasty food in a casual setting. Also, fun fact - my BF and I walked 26.2 miles to various bars over a 12 period, for our self organized marathon bar crawl last spring. It was pretty epic. 55k steps that day. And Philly's was part of that awesome day, #5 on our list of stops :) read more

We ordered food, burgers and salads. It took over a half an hour to get our food. We'd ordered crab fries and didn't end up getting them, instead we had received regular fries. They automatically add a 2% credit card fee when bringing your tab. Plus, since it's an amount added to the subtotal they add tax on the 2% fee! Shameful. If you're paying cash you either have to wait for the server to come back to remove the fee or just eat it. What a deceptive billing practice - designed obviously to add 2% to every bill. Otherwise they'd ask you before printing the bill whether you're paying with cash or card. Also, you should notify patrons on the menu or on signs about the charge. read more

Honestly, we've gone to this place for years. Usually we sit at bar and bartenders always lovely and responsive. Our kids (20 ish in age) met us for lunch so we could watch Vikings game. Holy cow!! It was the worst service and then the food was just awful!! My daughter got soup and grilled cheese. The soup was cold and I even took a bite of sandwich and put it down. No one could eat it. My calzone was so awful I took one bite and left it. No one asked us how our food was. My kids left to go get food elsewhere, mind you, the bar was empty. We will never go back. read more

I want to start off by saying that the Philly's in Ahwatukee is absolutely amazing and I love going there. Please give that store your business if you are reading this! Also the server I had was great. Last Sunday, the Oklahoma City thunder played in game seven against the Indiana Pacers. I came to the bar with my friends To enjoy the game. Everything started off normal, There was a guy who was cheering for the Pacers, who had some friendly banter for me. The bar even had the game on the main audio. I came to the restaurant wearing an Oklahoma City jersey. I am a huge fan. As we get closer to the end of the game, someone in the bar comes and tells me to be quiet. Not only have I've been cheering the whole game, but my team was on a run. I told her to please leave me alone and that I would leave when the game ended. No less than two minutes later the manager comes out and tells me that I'm being too loud. I explained that I was cheering for my team and I had been doing so the whole game. The only person who had a problem was the one lady. The manager said I was "annoying" other people. I said "I don't care." He proceeded to cuss me and my friends out and told us that we needed to leave. I told him to bring me my tab and that I would leave immediately after. He threatened to call the police even though I said I would leave after he gave me the bill. He even tried to take my beer from me to show me the power he had. He gave me my check, I tipped my regular 25% and left. As a black man from Arizona I hate using the race card because I don't believe in being a victim. I love a great live and have amazing people in my life. This was a clear example of racism that Scottsdale is known for. If that one lady (white) didn't report me then we wouldn't have problems. The gentleman cheering for the other team even told me that it was "bullshit" that I was put out when her was being equally as loud. I do not remember the manager's name but he told me to never come back. I will make sure to respect the wishes of the business but I thought I should warn others before they spend money at a place that treats people like this. Again Philly's has been great to me but this experience forever changes the way I view this location. read more

Yes check out bathrooms.. but there's something else. Especially if the restroom plumbing is probably connected to bathroom. When you wash your hands... is the water piping hot ? Per health code hot water must be instant.. no warm up ...hot water on demand. I'm happy to say Philly's does that. So that instills confidence.. may sound trivial.. but very important. The location is ideal and the large patio makes a great setting, however the bartender should really pick up a new profession. Miss Madison was behind the bar engaged in conversation about her social life with her friends who were sat at the bar which was great. good on you for the support system. After approaching the bar with my cousin and giving a chance for the conversation to find a break, Miss Madison spared a "lovely" gaze of inconvenience and turned back to her friends. Her friends however turned their attention thank goodness for their consideration and once Miss Madison realized, she then gave a generous flick of the arm shooing us away from the bar letting us know we could "sit where you want". I personally proceeded to bargain with her for a couple drinks And immediately closed my tab because i knew there wouldn't anymore begging for service. I think the best part was walking away from the bar top, I smiled as I looked around at an empty patio realizing I would have at least given the benefit of the doubt if she were a little busy. So, my local watering hole was shut down for a bit. The regulars were divided between this place and another I'm not particularly fond of. I know, some of us have places and because they're not like the others we don't like them. That isn't really the case here, I much preferred Philly's to the "other" option and so, I'd met up with my pals here enough times to notice a trend. I had one server out of over a half a dozen times that actually checked in or came back after taking an order. Extremely frustrating, enough so that it left a foul taste in my mouth for the place. The wings were decent when I had them but the service is just awful. I mean, a server will come by, take your order and venture off into the abyss never to be seen from again. Another server will come by, take your order and POOF~ gone. This has happened enough that the buddy who actually invited me up here wanted to walk out on the tab out of principle. I mean, he asked for another round, it never came, he asked another server for the check, it never came. He wanted to just bail. He didn't because he's a bigger man than I (HAHAHA, because, well I'm not a man).... Anyhow, my local spot is opened back up, so I needed head that side of the road at this point. This is a really greats sports bar and perfectly located next to ASU. It has TV's everywhere and enough tv's for multiple games for a Sunday Football lunch! They also have outdoor seating with cool rock fireplaces and heaters. We decided to sit inside and had a large round boot towards the back near the pool table. They also had darts. The bar was located around the corner but they had a large selection. They do not have pickly pear margaritas and they only have their margaritas on the rocks. However, food and alcohol was fairly priced, our bill was only $107 for 4 entrees, an appetizer, 2 beers and 4 margaritas. The margaritas were medium sized, but for being on the rocks they were tasty. We had the strawberry flavor and they were strong but not straight tequila, which I prefer. My husband had two IPA's he enjoyed. For dinner two got two different varieties of their Philly's and both said they were great quality. I had the white wine spicy pasta. It wasn't spicy but is was DELICIOUS. I always get skeptical of getting pasta at a sports grill but this one was one of the best I've had. It had jalapeños, asparagus and onions with penne pasta in a white wine sauce. The sauce was a perfect texture not too light and not too heavy. My husband had the fish and chips. The fish were huge and not too much batter. Their fries are super good too, normal thick cut burger fries. We also had the fried Gouda Mac and cheese.
