During the World Cup series, they had some drink specials. Both times I took advantage of the specials. I got the Stella Artois ($6) and a Nutrl Peach Lemonade ($6). For food, each time I had some sort of nacho dish: Asian Chicken Nachos ($14.79 - Crispy wonton chips topped with Thai chili garlic fried chicken, sesame ginger sauce, mozzarella cheese, green onion and toasted sesame seeds): These were fun to eat. The crispy wontons stayed crispy all 90 minutes + extra of the game. The fried chicken is just a cut up chicken tender but it's okay. Green Chile Pork Nachos ($16.99 - Slow, tender-roasted green chili pulled pork on top of tortilla chips. Topped with onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, twin cheeses, guacamole and sour cream. No meat is $10.29): I shared this with the table and they were delicious! I could have used more cheese but who doesn't? We love cheese! Great place in general to catch a game. We've been a few times now both for lunch and for dinner and they definately score higher points during lunch. I know that doesn't seem right but that's the way it is here, the food is always better, the service is always better and the music at night is so loud that you begin to think you are in a disco in 1975. Also at night they have had "trivia" contests almost every night that we were there. It was not entertaining, it was tedious. Lunch tends to be good and service is very good. Dinner tends to be well, not their first priority so it is not better than "eh". My advice, go for lunch, enjoy, take your time, avoid the loud dinner disco crowd. read more

There seems to be an ongoing issue with the bartender sierra. Horrible service, horrible attitude. When she is not threatening guests she does not like with "kick them out" she will laugh in your face when you ask for an actual manager to remedy the situation. For context: A small fire started and instead of remaining calm she proceeded to yell and snap at the entire restaurant for trying to help. I had to call 911 because she refused to. Apparently this establishment does not have an actual manager on duty other than the bartender. Ridiculous. Sierra spent most of her time glued to her phone. read more

Shout out to this location playing the Phoenix Rising match! Not many local places stream the game and it is much appreciated. I dined on the patio, and the service when going up to the bar was very quick and friendly. Enjoyed a few pints, and from what I could tell from a friend the food was also delicious though I didn't eat. Food and service were good. Waitress was very attentive and personable. About halfway through our lunch 2 young women came in and sat at the bar. One had a little puppy in her arms. She visited almost every table with the puppy, and everyone petted the pup, including the manager and the bartender. NO ONE washed their hands and went about serving and pouring drinks. The young woman continued to hold the puppy and never went to the patio where dogs are allowed. Good thing that there was no health inspector from Tempe there, several infractions and possible closure and a bad report for this place. All to placate the woman with the puppy. Visited with some co-workers for a quick lunch away from the office. Service was immediate and quick for a party of four at lunch time. The place was not busy at all, probably because it was a Wednesday. It's your typical sports grill. It was not too loud and they had tvs going with a few dofferent sporting events. I know ... you're thinking, Dude, it's a bar, 5 stars?!?! Yeah! The servers are always nice, the food is pretty good, and I can take my laptop, sit in the corner and just do work until late in the night. I've been here for Happy Hour, too, and brought large groups of folks with no issues. They're always very accommodating, as opposed to being annoyed that I didn't call ahead or something like some places are. Maybe they like my business. Huh. Now that I think about it; that's becoming a hard thing to find nowadays ... you know, proprietors and employees that actually like having customers. I mean, seriously, we've become such a service-oriented culture and yet people are annoyed at providing service. I get it. You're upset and bitter and oppressed, but sheesh. Get another job then. Bailey immediately greeted me when I sat at the bar during what appeared to be a very slow Sunday. I thiught that was great. I just want a burger and a beer. They automatically add a 2% credit card fee when bringing your tab without asking you before if you're paying with cash or card. Deceptive! It is absolutely indefensible to NOT have a urinal in a men's bathroom, and after 6 years of ownership to have not resolved this continuing issue is absolutely ridiculous. The waitress I had... had to scale this into a 30 out of 10 because of what they did for me,made sure that I had what I needed, checked in, at regular intervals to ensure that I had everything I needed. The sandwiches and fries are all pretty solid. The other food options are fairly decent, nothing special. The BTs are pretty and put a modest bit of heft into the mixed drinks. Solid. Prices are maybe a bit above average, not by too much. All foodservers have always been friendly and recognized me by sight, even though I only go there every month or two. Might be because I tip well and always yap re: back when I was a BT in college 40 years ago. Ha ha, but true. In total, Philly's is a reasonably solid bet. Lots of TVs for sports games. Pros: Plenty of servers, multiple tvs, typical sports bar feel, beer was cold Cons: Some of the oddest tasting food ever - guacamole was super acidic and tasted "off", salsa tasted like spaghetti sauce and very "ketchupy". Ordered a half italian beef on cheeseburger with "crab fries" (ended up being greasy fries with cajun seasoning). The "juice" they served with the sandwich was a cross between bbq sauce and gravy, and tasted terrible. Asked the server, she said "that's what they cook the beef in" - which explains why the beef ruined the cheeseburger. All in all, food was just terrible. Won't be going back, unless it's just to have an ice cold beer. But there are plenty of other places around town to do that. PS Our server was super nice and attentive. The wife and I go to Philly's on Wednesday's occasionally for their Trivia Night. We order food sometimes, but mainly drinks. The service is hit or miss, but mostly hit. Food is ok, but a touch overpriced. Lots of TVs for sports, especially for NFL if your team isn't on network TV and you don't have the NFL package. 5 stars for the bartender. She was absolutely amazing. Sadly, she mentioned this was her last week there. The food is where they lost any kudos or credibility. Excellent experience with Philly's sports grill. We seen this place pop up when looking for a place to watch the final four close to our hotel. The food did not disappoint. My grilled chicken sandwich and partners burger were fresh and flavorful. The waitress was attentive and place was clean. My daughter also enjoyed being able to watch Harry Potter on the table tv and not have to watch basketball with the rest of us. Only downfall was the place had their air conditioning cranked up so the food came out and got cold fast. I assume that's just a Phoenix thing though when it gets hot. read more
