The food here is incredible. Specifically their crab cakes which are huge, made with chincha of delicious crab and perfect mix to hold them together. Their Mac n cheese is amazing and so are their breads. Comfort home cooked meal feel. read more

I had two meals recently at the Philosophy Cafe. One was a bowl with rice & lentils and some other ingredients with a Thai sauce. It was delicious. The second was a cashew ginger tofu plate. It was really poor. Some kind of congealed sauce on a big soggy mess of wet rice, very oily battered fried tofu, and some vegetables. The consistency and flavor were way off, one of the worst restaurant meals I've had. All for $22 on a paper plate. This could've been way better. So this place is inconsistent to say the least, and now I have myself questioning whether I'll come back to Sierra Hot Springs if I can't rely on decent food. read more

Don't expect fast food here; this is upscale restaurant food in a cosy underground cafe, at a bargain price. Downstairs from the Sierra Hot Springs, this little cafe does amazing food. Ordering is at the counter, for drinks we just had the free herbal tea and citrus water. I wish I took a picture of the Beef Wellington and Vegetable Napoleon the first night because presentation was as spectacular as the flavor. Amazing flavor and creativity in the dishes. Normally I skip over dishes that are vegan but trying some of my girlfriend's food made me reconsider my ways. Highly recommend for the amazing food. Just remember is a cafe run by only two or so people so expect a short wait if you arrive at the same time as a large group. read more

This place is phenomenal. Small, cozy space with no one else there yet amazing food prepared just for you. I had a roasted eggplant dish with rice and root vegetables and tomato soup and all of it was delicious. Such large portions that I took most of it with me. In any a big city, this place would be packed. Only one meat and one vegan meal a night, but it's all you need. Only downside is you eat from paper plates and plastic utensils but they probably can't get a dishwasher out here. read more

What an incredible, homey, atmosphere. I've been wanting to eat here for a while now and i finally had my chance last night. My sister and i had full entree dinners thinking we'd save some for a snack later.. happy to report, there were no leftovers! The girls behind the counter are lovely and so happy which made the experience that much better. We snagged two coconut rice puddings to take with us and boy were we in for a treat. The homemade pudding is served with a sliver of strawberry shortcake and their homemade vegan whipped cream. We were in dessert heaven. Even though we had their full plates, we didn't feel overly stuffed or groggy. It was the perfect serving. I cannot wait to come back here! read more

This restaurant is within the sierra hot springs resort. Vegetarian & some seafood options avail. Dessert options are delicious (I had the chocolate cake) but the largest portion of my order was the salad. Not impressed by that. Too many pine nuts added to my pasta ravioli as well. All in all, its within the hot springs location, but overall I'd recommend bringing your own food & using the kitchen available. read more

A large group of friends and I just had SUCH a great meal at this place tonight! I think between the 9 of us we ordered everything on the menu, and were impressed with every single item. Our favorites were the lentil salad, the arugula salad, and both of the soups. Also the desserts were all fantastic. And the bread, which is made in house and comes warm with every order, was amazing. I know it sounds like I'm going overboard right now, but seriously, we left so satisfied!! It is a small place, so if you're a large group I'd say go early (they open for dinner at 6:30pm) or late. But definitely NO need to bring your own food to the hot springs (as another reviewer has suggested). read more

With every meal you get free tea, coffee, ice tea, or hot coco. Your meal also comes with hot fresh homemade bread and you can use their butter or oil and vinegar. All food is organic too. This unassuming downstairs "cafe" was one of the best meals my friends and I have had in a long time. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and unique. There aren't very many options available so if you're picky, you're better off bringing your own food and cooking it in the communal kitchen but I am very impressed that the food is organic and made entirely from scratch. Had the romaine salad with pecans, fresco queso, and ROASTED PEARS AND APPLES, plus optional grilled tri-tip, and mustard maple dressing. It was so great I had it a second night. I stayed at Sierra Hot Springs over the weekend. I had an incredible time recharging. I went to Philosophy Cafe and was completely surprised at how good the food was and the overall vibe of the eatery. There were 2 specials I had one and my wife the other and both were excellent and the dessert was also incredible. The menu was small, but I would rather have a small menu done to perfection, than an extensive menu of marginal food. I look forward to going back to Philosophy Cafe when I return to Sierra Hot Springs. read more
