I stopped in for lunch while waiting for my dog to finish his grooming appointment nearby, and I'm so glad I did! I chose the walk-up, self-service ordering area instead of the full-service dining room, and I'm really glad I did. The woman who took my order was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Since it was my first visit, I had a few questions, and she took the time to explain the menu and recommend some of her favorites without making me feel rushed. Her suggestions were spot on and really made my decision easy. I ordered the Rib Tickler and also decided to add their Link & Drink special. I normally wouldn't have ordered the sausage, but I'm so glad I did! It was smoky, juicy, and reminded me of a really good kielbasa. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal. The onion rings were perfectly crispy, the BBQ was flavorful, and the portions were huge. I only ate about a quarter of my meal before I was completely full, so I'll easily get two or three meals out of it. The restaurant was clean, there was plenty of parking, and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. If you're looking for a casual BBQ spot with generous portions, friendly service, and delicious food, Phil's BBQ is definitely worth a visit. I'll absolutely be back!

Got the loaded tri tip fries and they were amazing! Great portions (huge) but good balance of fries, tri trip, cheese and diced onion! Service was very quick and interior is very casual! Good for families, big groups, or just a time for watching sports games!

That corn bread be hitting!!! Oh my gosh. I am obsessed with the cornbread at Phil's BBQ. It is by far the best cornbread I have ever had! I didn't know I liked cornbread before Phil's LOL now I know that I like it, just only like it at Phil's lol My husband also loves the cornbread. The maple butter is aaaaaaaamazing on top too! I could eat this all day. We brought the leftovers home and my husband and I were fighting over the last piece! I'm not even joking lol That being said, I also ordered some cheese fries. I also ordered the giant pretzel with cheese. The pretzel wasn't bad. The cheese that came with it was fire. I used that cheese and poured it on my fries to make that better. It was bomb! I did eat some of the pretzel, it was soft on the inside and warm. I would order the cheese fries again, but do the cheese sauce from the pretzel on it instead of grated cheese. My husband ordered one of the rib combos and he enjoyed the ribs. He didn't care for the macaroni salad much though. We both wish that Phil's BBQ had a macaroni and cheese. They really need to add it to the menu. That as a side, would be much better! Service was fine. You walk up to order and go up to get your food, when it's done.

Been here before and I always looked forward to their chicken wings! Ordered the 10-pc wings and Baby Back Rib Tickler (3-pc juicy ribs smothered with BBQ sauce, coleslaw, French fries and 3 pcs of onion rings) paired with a glass of wine and beer for me and hubby. Service was great by 2 bartenders who, even busy serving at the bar, tended to customers outside the bar. Ambiance is cool and family friendly! Happy hour is the best!!!

Stopped by the newer Phil's BBQ on our way home from San Diego. The original Phil's BBQ is actually in San Diego. This establishment gives casual bar and table seating. The bar area is full service but outside of the bar, you order food and then find seating. There is a lot of seating but hosting large parties could be tricky because of this. The service received was great. I even appreciated our server letting me know my cocktail wasn't going to look like the picture, and it didn't! He brought us everything we requested. Now let's get to the food! They have a nice selection of bbq food options and sides. I opted for the baby back tickler (no substitutions) for $13.99. It comes with 3 baby back ribs, coleslaw, fries, and two onions rings. You have the choice of sauce on, on the side, or both. They will also give you ranch. Bae got the el toro fries with sliced tritip for $13.99. FYI - if you're someone who doesn't like things saucy, get your sauce in the side! The fries were drenched in sauce and it made it difficult to taste anything but the sauce. The meat was thinly sliced. I wish the meat slices were a little thicker, especially with that over powering sauce. Outside of that, the meat was tender and the sauce is a little sweet, tangy, and hits you with a little heat at the end. The baby back ribs were fork tender but not fall off the bone. The beef rib meat was tender but not fall off the bone. I noticed it still had tendon on it and that could be why some pieces were a little touch and chewy. The coleslaw is a nice refreshing bite between your bites of bbq beef. The onions rings are beer battered and crispy. My only critique is they were crazy oily. The fries were cooked fresh and not over seasoned. I do suggest asking for them hot or extra crispy because I heard they're not always hot. I definitely enjoyed Phil's. The meat had a nice char and smokiness. Plus their bbq sauce was great. Let Phil's be your next BBQ try!

I love coming to Phil's BBQ. Price for food and drinks is great and it never disappoints. The BBQ wings are one of my favorite things to order. Most cocktails are under $10 which is unheard of now. Highly recommend!

I LOVE me some Phil's BBQ!!! Been a fan for years! I used to drive all the way from Palm Springs to San Diego just to get my fix at least once a year before I made the move to Los Angeles So when I found out they opened a location in Temecula, you already know I had to pull up for some ribs!!! Service was great, and the food was finger-licking GOOD I'm honestly shocked if I ever have leftovers! It's always a great time at Phil's never disappoints Just a heads up: make sure you give yourself plenty of time because it's ALWAYS busy! Expect lines out the door, but trust me... it's worth it

Went in on 6-29-26 at 9pm to pick up some takeout. The manager was super nice. Service was great and of course the food is amazing. There was a soccer game on and it seemed like everybody was having a great time! We will have to come back and catch a game here.

We were headed towards Escondido and got hungry. Bbq sounded great! Stopped by Phil's BBQ for take out and it was sooooo delicious!! We got a full rack of ribs, baked potato. I also ordered coleslaw but they forgot to pack it in my takeout bag. We added a sausage which was a good size! And some brisket. We had enough leftovers for breakfast with eggs in the AM. Service is so great there when you take your order to waiting at the bar to then delivering the food. It's a very large establishment and quite lively. I'd totally come back here again to eat inside. The wait seemed to be about 30 min when we stopped by on a Sunday evening.

We had such a great experience. This was our 2nd time and this time was great cause we didn't have a long line The service was quick and friendly Ambience was casual and kick back which we love since this means a mess isn't a big deal, especially with 3 kids. I love that they have a location in Temecula because I feel it's a lot less busy than their San Diego location. It's located at the corner of the Promenade plaza. There's plenty of parking around as well as a ton of tables inside and also an outside patio area. There's a bar area on one side and the other side has tables and spot to order for take out or dine in. They have an extensive menu. My favorite is the their pork ribs! I usually get bone in, but today I tried the rib less and chick less which was nice since I didn't have to work to get my meat. It was packed with flavor and meat was nice and juicy inside. I love their fries because it's a nice thickness and isn't too salty. Their Mac salad is my favorite! It's not overly mayo flavor and the tiny macaroni makes it fun to eat. Their coleslaw is also a close second. The service was quick and the workers were friendly.

I had the pork rib tickler with a side of beef rib, I've eaten at this place before and the food is just ok HOWEVER it could be amazing IF they would ensure that the food AND sauces are HOT with temperature, the ribs NOR the sauce should be lukewarm, you should be able to put the ribs over OR whatever meats on your grill to get them HOT and put the sauce in a pan and heat it up also... If a customer can get their food HOT with temperature they more than likely will look past everything else... Each time that I have went here it wasn't overly busy so I don't understand why this doesn't happen... Will return and would recommend to anyone... read more

We enjoyed Phil's again. We got full baby back ribs with sauce off. We should have got sauce on because with sauce off, the ribs were all burnt. They still tasted good, but with a burnt flavor. We have never had them burnt before, so they weren't our favorite item like normal. We got a large baked beans as side. We added pulled pork and chickless with sauce as sides. We got an onion ring (they got rid of small and large- the size looks like their old small size). It came with ranch. The ranch is really good. We got 1 link with a free drink. Rs favorite things today was chickless. Last time he liked ribless the best . K likes link, pulled pork, beans, and chickless in that order. He didn't like the ribs because they were burnt. I liked chickless the best. I didn't like pulled pork with sauce and I didnt like the ribs because they were burnt. Last time ribs were my favorite. Sweet tea is good! Beans were just ok today. Tasted almost like the recipe was changed. Onion rings were also just ok today. Next time I want to get a salad with the yummy ranch. read more

5 stars for the food. 2 stars for the service.. I love Phil's BBQ, but have never been to the Temecula location. I phoned in my order. On the phone they tell you that. They want the food to be as fresh as possible, so they won't package up the order until you arrive at the restaurant. I arrived at Phil's at 4:45 pm. There was 1 group at the cashier and 1 person in line ahead of me. It did take me 15 minutes to finally get to the cashier. On the receipt it sad 15-20 minutes to package my order. After 15 minute, the person that was in front of me received her order, so I thought I would be next. For the next 25 minutes I watched 8-10 people pick up there order and leave. Finally my name was called. The lady that gave me my order apologized and said that they had run out of ribs and I had to wait to get fresh ones.. By the time I got to my car it was 5:45pm. My visit was Wednesday January 27, 2021 What's the point of calling in the order? Nothing was reserved for me. No one took the time to offer me something to drink while I waited. No one told me my order would be delayed. It's like no one cared. I guess if you make a really great product you don't need to provide great service. I live in Fontana, so I drove over an hour to get Phil's Ribs. So disappointed in Phil's BBQ read more

Whoo boo!!! A Phil's bbq closer to where I live. I was checking Yelp and so happy to see that I did not need to drive to San Diego and enjoy their wonderful BBQ. Recently opened in July, the Temecula location serves their tasty meats and appear to be found strong throughout COVID. Located in a pretty big plaza, the stand alone is located near another BBQ restaurant that seems to gone out of business. Ordered 3 bone beef ribs, baby back rib, rib less tickler, beef bone tickler, and sausage. The ribs were delicious! I'm a big fan of the beef rib. The baby back ribs are ok. My least favorite is the ribless meat but definitely more than just edible. The sauce is tangy and sweet but now overpoweringly sugary like chain bbq sauces. The sausage was also a great add on. I don't really come here for the sides but my go to is the French fries and cole slaw. The French fries are chewier and taste great. Thank you Phil's BBQ for making my day. read more

Just a fantastic BBQ dinner. Meat falls off the bone if you get ribs. Tri tip is phenomenal. Also have chicken. Signature sauce is a mix of Memphis style thick sweet sauce and Carolina style thiner vinegar. Servings are very large! Another unique thing is that you can get boneless ribs or chicken for the same price. And mix and match chicken/ribs. Prices are low particularly in the post-pandemic price surge common in many places. Saw it on Man Vs Food. Great place to enjoy some great BBQ food read more

BBQ is 3.5-4 stars it's probably one of the best in the immediate area. The Tri tip is my fav so far(loaded fries are a must) chicken is okay. l haven't tried the beef ribs that will be for my next trip. 5 stars for the polite employees especially the young man taking care of the patio area. He seemed honest and hard working definitely will be coming back! read more

Love love love the beef ribs. I usually order the 5 beef rib dinner w a large side. The baked beans are good. I could care less for any other side, nothing is like out of this world amazing. The corn bread is okay. But I'd say their beef ribs are just so meaty and huge. Definitely get your moneys worth. I can't speak on any other entrees on the menu. Like the pork or chicken. But this is my go to spot for ribs. I wish they made a good homemade Mac n cheese and some collard greens. read more

As frequent visitors from the OC, sometimes we are lucky enough to drop in right before the Happy Hour is over. The server and bartenders are always welcoming and very attentive. Combine that with amazing bbq and prices that are very reasonable, and it's obvious why Phil's is one of the most popular joints in so cal. read more

This place is honestly very good and had good portions. The food was good just wished the ribs had more sauce on them but we just asked for more sauce on the side. My only complaint would be that my onion rings were kind of burnt. The customer service was amazing and the staff kept asking if we were good. read more

Colton, Riley, Sheldon, and Ms. Cynthia are all rock stars! They absolutely made our first experience one to remember. Amazing food and hospitality was top tier. The BBQ here is so good. Beef rib - tender, meaty, and flavorful. Chicken Ticklers - tender and juicy. Onion rings, macaroni salad, corn bread, El Toro beef brisket sandwich - all of it was fresh, quality, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Sheesh! So much good food and that original southern hospitality you could only expect from the true south. To top off this hearty meal, we had their chocolate chip cookies - crispy, sweet, and to the point. I am looking forward to coming again on my next visit and bringing more family to join in on the greatness that is Phil's BBQ. read more

I'll say 5 because I was waiting for the notorious heartburn or the Sh!Ts I usually get from that dump Lucille's...the food is cooked the right way not the fast way i loved the bar and the prices as well the bartenders who were very friendly and hooked up the drinks... for great food good drinks and prices not that BS 10-12 $ for fruit juice watered down drinks , and a good time to hang with family and friends this is a great place .... read more

This place was good but not my favorite! The ribs were really good, but the pulled pork was somewhat dry and a tad too smoky in flavor for my taste. The BBQ sauce also wasn't my favorite that I've tasted. Regardless, it was good BBQ though. The onion rings were flavorful, but were so hard/crispy that it was difficult to eat lol. The coleslaw for the pulled pork sandwich was so good I wish I had more! The potato salad was great as well (like typical potato salad), but the macaroni salad was lacking. I love that they have a hand washing station next to the dining area so I can get messy without worrying about sticky hands! read more

Whenever we find ourselves in Temecula I want Phil's every time. Our experiences have been mostly positive, but tonight was the best ever! I need to shout out Sheldon in particular because he was such a great guy and he made sure the food met our specifications perfectly. I couldn't believe how much we got for what we paid. As an aside, their ranch dressing is phenomenal. Too many restaurants serve garbage ranch. That said, we loved everything. This is my favorite place to eat, and my wife was super happy with it too. read more

We ate at a different Phil's BBQ which was amazing! It was our first time here. In the bar they have a nice sitting area with TVs all around you. After eating at Maybells excellent BBQ my tritip sandwich here was to salty and rubbery. Sorry and Sadly, we won't be back. Paying attention to the detail in food is vital! The hard larger sized potato salad had zero love put into it! Although it was our first time here but I really don't think a lot of love is going into the food here? My husband didn't like his ribs either. read more

First time trying the Temecula location! Called to place an order for pick up. They are not taking phone orders. You must arrive and pay then wait. Arrived ordered and all was ready quickly. How in the HELL do I find delivery for this over-rated eatery ?!! It's not listed on DoorDash OR Uber eats !! I DON'T drive so I guess I will never taste just how good it is. This old Veteran WAS looking forward to a nice 4th-of-July BBQ dinner. Thx to Google it has gotten MORE complicated to find ANYTHING anymore, not just food delivery, but with Phil's BBQ's several locations I would THINK they would make it easier to order delivery. The food here is amazing, we ordered the half chicken dinner, BBQ turkey burger, YES, they have turkey! No kids menue however we got the Chicken tickles for my youngest and it was perfect for him. Can't for get the beef rib dinner, so amazing. We are definitely coming back. read more

Moved to Temecula a year ago and the only shining star in the past year has been watching Phil's come in to the area. I used to go to the locations in SD but they were hard to get to with wait times up to 2 hours on a weekend evening. I'm so happy to see Phil's come in and show the folks here what good BBQ is. Locally, I used to go to Hobos where the meat was super dry and chewy, and Lucille's where the sides are great but the meat is always gross but now I can visit Phil's and suddenly 2020 sucks less. Definitely get their beer battered onion rings. They're fluffy, crispy, and you don't get a mouthful of oil when you take a bite. My favorite is their standard pork ribs with BBQ sauce on the side - super tender and fall off the bone friggen delicious. read more

The best bbq on the west coast. Texas size and delicious. Our favorite is the beef ribs but our kids love the pork ribs. The Large Onion rings are fried to perfection and fast terrific as well. Our #1 go to brand for sure!!! read more

Since 1998, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite grilled baby back and beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Meet the Business Owner: Phil P.

Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds (and counting!) of BBQ sauce. In 2007, after the smoke cleared from the original Phil's BBQ location in Mission Hills, the restaurant relocated to a much larger space in Point Loma. Even with a change of location, the Phil's experience and the menu remain the same: long lines of anticipation, an energetic, friendly atmosphere, fantastic food, huge portions, and many, many, paper towels. Phil doesn't come from a long line of BBQ connoisseurs. Instead, he created from scratch a top-secret recipe for BBQ rubs and sauce while taking his dad's advice to only cook what he knows best and treat employees like family. Phil's BBQ is hands down one of the best BBQ spots I've ever been to. From the moment you walk in, the smell alone lets you know you're in for something special. My wife and I went to Phil's BBQ. We took takeout. It was very well set up to keep your distances during this crisis. Their were plenty of personnel to wait on you. The take was set up and all personnel was wearing masks and gloves. I saw one person cleaning (sanitizing) the chairs where people sat after they Were called up to pick up their food. We are so glad the Phil's BBQ came to Temecula. The last few years we went to their San Marcus Store. They have the best BBQ in Temecula and its as good as or better Than TexasBBQ. A friend recommended this place, and I was so impressed! The food was absolutely delicious, and even though the restaurant was full, we didn't have to wait long for our order. I also love that it's pet-friendly and welcoming to children, a big plus! The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting, which made the whole experience even better. Food wise, I ordered the BBQ Broham Sandwich with fries, and the flavors were incredible! You can really tell they use high quality products and fresh ingredients. This place is the bomb! They have great BBQ and quite possilby the biggest Beef Ribs west of Texas! I have been here at least a dozen times, and I'm never disappointed. The Beef Ribs are huge and delicious. The Baby Back Ribs are fall off the bone. They have great sides, including Fresh-Cut French Fries, potato salad and cole slaw. Phil's BBQ is consistently delicious and serves generous portions. Like most barbecue places you order at the counter and take a seat. Their mashed potatoes tasted gritty like if they where box mashed potatoes which makes sense with them being out of potatoes. 3rd thing which is their "New Policy" That groups of 6 or more it has to be paid on one card and can Not be split in multiple payments not even split cash and card! So that to me makes absolutely no sense and there are no signs stating this anywhere nor on their site. So overall this place is ok and not really worth what we paid. Definitely won't be back and wouldn't recommend this place to friends.

The loaded nachos were outstanding--perfectly balanced with cheese, shredded beef, and all the other toppings. You could tell the ingredients were high quality. The EB Burger also looked great. For a $20 burger, looked promising and came with a generous serving of crispy fries and a large pickle spear. Although it arrived closer to well-done than the rare temperature I ordered, it was still tasty. The Not So Good: The restaurant was not particularly busy, yet it took quite a while to get served. We were only able to place our initial drink order after repeatedly trying to get the bartender's attention. Unfortunately, this became the theme of the evening. Even though guests around us appeared to be receiving regular service, we often felt invisible. When we finally got the bartender's attention to order beers, she hurried away before we could place our food order. It took additional time and more attempts to flag her down before we could order dinner. When the burger arrived overcooked, I couldn't even mention it because our server never checked on us or asked how the food was. Throughout the evening, I had to flag down other staff members just to request another beer or refill our water. Our server/bartender finally acknowledged the issue only after we spoke with another staff member about both the overcooked burger and the lack of service. To her credit, she offered to comp the burger. I initially declined but later accepted because it was nowhere near the temperature I had ordered. Despite the disappointing service, I still left a standard tip. I also told her it was a shame because we live right around the corner and had been excited to try this place. We were hoping it could become our regular Friday-night spot and somewhere we could bring friends and neighbors who enjoy good food and drinks.
