Run! Phil's car care has a new owner who is now using a new auto parts store to supply parts. His warranty is offered through AutoZone not the shop. Im told the old owner used to offer it through NAPA.. I had extensive work done to my AC a year and a half ago which is still underneath the warranty I was offered when the work was done. The new owner is now refusing to honor the warranty. They misdiagnosed problems and then billed me. Then after the work was done they told me would get the issue resolved, it still wasn't fixed. I was then quoted thousands of dollars more to have it fixed.These guys are just hands-down, dishonest, the mechanic misdiagnoses and the owner is not honest and will not honor warranties. Don't waste your time or your money with these guys.. they folks at the shop really pushed the fact that they offer parts and labor warranty, I mentioned that it meant nothing considering they weren't honoring the very warranty. I already had in place and their response was it's a new owner and he isn't honoring your old warranty. They have the potential to do better, but it's going to take an owner who decides to conduct business with honesty, otherwise his word means nothing. read more

I'm actually blown away with some of these reviews. I brought my car in for an oil change and diagnostics. They we SO nice and understanding. They ran a 40 point diagnostic test which showed a couple of issues, some I was aware of, others not. They didn't try to upsell me on anything and were completely honest and transparent. RUN! They completely misdiagnosed my issue even after charging a $149 diagnostic fee. They recommended a water pump and thermostat for almost $1900, which I agreed to, and I ended up paying for parts that did not even need to be changed. They also cracked my radiator and told me they would split the cost with me, which is unbelievable. I picked up my vehicle and the next day it had the exact same high RPM issue I originally brought it in for. I took it back and now they are saying it is the transmission and want another $700 just to change the fluid and filter. I basically paid for a first and last visit. read more

Well where do i start i called them told them my truck was getting a little warmer temputure wise never overheated.they told me to bring it in so i did the next day they called me and said it would need a new thermostat,new heater hose,knock sensor and intake gasket.it will be 1800$.ok well i need it fixed so i agreed for them to fix it said they will get right on it.3 dYs went by No response.i called for an update lady says i dont know when it will be ready i havent been out there.never called back.i went up there.said i needed head gasket another 3100$ i took my truck home engine light still on called back to tell them my knock sensor is still showing a code they said bring it in so i did.then told me oh well we cant check it today.we will call you to bring it up 3 weeks went by nothing.so i am forced to go the legal route. read more

I actually was able to wait while they checked out my issue. Could be repaired while I waited, no need for parts. Trustworthy and professional. Recommend when you need vehicle repairs. Note, there is new management team in place, It also have been going to Phil's care care since before Phil move the shop down the street. Yes Phil retired but the new management efficiency and service is reflected in all areas for the customer. Do try them. read more

Save your money. The amount of charges for parts where insane, I could have gotten a parts for $25 but instead they charged over $350. After paying the final invoice for the overcharged service they still wants to accuse of not paying the full amount when I have the receipt after giving them the money. And on top of that the vehicle is not fully repaired! I'm still running issues. read more

this company is a steal they charged me over 1800 for things that were 170 in all they even charged me for one thing that they didn't even try fixing at all. I dont recommend AT ALL to go here. read more

They're lucky I gave them one star. I took my car over there for one problem.and I paid so much money to get my car back $550.now my car is parked I cannot drive my car. I have other issues going on that I've never had with my car. and I spoke with the supervisor. of course she's going to put it off on my car saying that I had other issues going on.and I went over there for one problem . so please take my advice do not go over there if you have a problem with your car. take your car somewhere else. and they do over charge a high price for labor read more

Went in because my check engine light was on. They ran a diagnostic, then decided to tell me it was for a recall! I asked why that wasn't checked beforehand. His answer was hindsight is 2020! So, I had to pay for an unnecessary diagnostic! Also, they changed my oil. Got in my car and the oil change notifier was still going off! Dealership said they should have reset it! Will NEVER go to this place again! read more

I left a review a year or more ago (Bill A.) but need to update it. Phil's has been sold and the new team in place does not run the shop as Phil did. The people in the area are obviously aware of this as evident by the empty parking lot where at one time you were lucky to find a parking spot. I've given them more than a few opportunities to retain my business but at every turn they let me down. It's unfortunate but now they are just parts changers, and when they make a mistake they are always looking for a way out rather than taking care of their customers and maintaining the solid reputation for honestly as this shop once had. I'd certainly not allow anyone in my family to use this business any longer, and instead use a shop in town that will go through the pains to insure they are doing the right thing and for the right reason. read more

David greeted me and quickly started to investigate my problem. I was left hanging and that did not feel good. The problem was figured out and we agreed on the solution and I left my vehicle. I was expecting a call to keep me aware of the progress but did not get a call. I however did call them 3 or 4 times to try to find out the status. My only complaint is lack of communication, but the repair was right-on and it was not overly expensive. Here's how much I value Phil's Car Care. I drive about 40 miles from Houston to take my car to him. Honesty - Phil, defying the stereotype associated with auto mechanics is honest. He will not try to upsell you on something that you do not need. He will shoot straight with you about the severity of your car's problem. Affordable - Put simply, I have been going to Phil for 10+ years (my father-in-law has been going for 20+) and I still often find myself in disbelief at the prices of my repairs. Phil is more interested in people and good repairs than he is in gouging, again defying stereotypes. I will never take my car anywhere else as long as I can get to Phil's place. read more

This place came on a recommendation from a friend. Car was having transmission problems so I had it towed here. Same day turnaround, fair prices and a has good deal with EMC towing. Staff was friendly, courteous and prompt to let me know the vehicle was ready. read more

So you have to leave at least one star. I'm INCREDIBLY disappointed and wish I'd of never used this place. Had my vehicle 3 weeks. Took 4 days to do a 4 hour job..and just went downhill steadily. Office lady seems nice but if you have any problem like your vehicle just sitting there out in the hot sun on their lot until they one day can get to it..she's rude, unapologetic. If you have a second vehicle or can afford a100/day for a rental car I guess you'd be ok but don't expect them to do a great job..3 weeks later I tell them that's enough I HAVE to have my car back--it's STILL not running right. David seems nice, but their word can NOT be counted on. IWOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE... one of my biggest mistakes ever.. after picking up my car..has more problems now..some reason now my car is using half a tank of gas to drive an hour and half on the freeway. I have a midsize SUV. That's just a ridiculous amount of gas. My idle is way too high and rough. I'll have to fix myself-Cant afford another 3 weeks without a vehicle. read more

Being charge for service that DID NOT fix my vehicle! Today blog talk about Auto Mechanic Shops who overcharge for service that did not fix my car, matter of fact, I am talking about an Auto Mechanic Shop in Porter Texas called 'Phil Auto Care.' I spend over 2,400 dollars last couple weeks for a use motor but to this day, I am still having problems with my vehicle, for example: my vehicle trying to die on me while going down the freeway, or end-up losing two quarts of oil in two days, so readers, do you know who this rip-off company is blaming? ME! Which it kind of funny, because now they keep recommended someone else. So I am guess they are running out of excuses. Do not get me wrong, I am not trying to hurt this business, but I personally believe that if a customer pay for service, that customer should get service. So readers, I do not recommend this company for anything, not even fixing a bicycle because mostly they rip me off, and do not even care. read more

Mr. Phil and his team of mechanics did a great job of repairing my niece's car. She was bombarded with health issues and was not able to pay him on time . He told her not to worry. He would keep her car safe until she could pay. Giving her the extra time was such a blessing to our Family. The valve cover gasket on our car was leaking (so the dealer said) & we were told by Blake at Phil's Car Care that the entire valve cover needed to be replaced. After the repair we picked our car up & learned it was losing 1/4 qt of oil every 50 miles and blew thick white smoke out of the exhaust on occasion when starting. We took the car back & after 5 days called to check status, they hadn't even looked at it... & to top it off Blake got smart with me, asking sarcastically how burning oil & white smoke was related to the work they had done. He said they were going to charge me to diagnose the problem. Well I sure couldn't answer that question, I'm not a mechanic, & I sure wasn't going to give this guy any more money so I told him I would come pick the car up. I took the car to Fred's Automotive and paid $50 for them to not only tell me that the Dorman after-market valve cover had known issues & that the Nissan replacement part needed to be used, but he called and spoke to Blake himself to advise. Fred's told me that Phil's was going to take care of it so I called & spoke to Phil, & brought the car back to them so they could have a fair chance at making it right. After getting the car back for a 3rd time it is still blowing thick white smoke out of the exhaust when starting it (about 4 times now) & the Dorman valve cover is still on there. Big hassle & still uncertain about whether the car is OK now or not. It's not about a bad part, that happens, it's about how a customer is treated by the service provided in trying to resolve the issue. If you go to Phil's I hope it goes well for you the first time, Phil himself (although he doesn't seem to be one of the mechanics & I never saw him around) seems to be a genuinely fair man & they did have 2 other good reviews.
