I'm very disappointed, I came in yesterday to buy a pint of sauce. I was expecting to pay $3 for it. They charged me about $7.50 for it, and it took forever! It should take that long to scoop some sauce into a container. I was there for atleast 15 mins. When I finally got the sauce ot came in a paper bag in a pint container wrapped with plastic wrap. It felt very hot so I was excited for the sauce. I got home to eat the sauce with some mozzarella sticks from the grocery store, and the sauce was not good! It was sour and had a weird after taste. The sauce was also very chunky. I asked for Mariana sauce and it did not taste like Mariana sauce at all, it should be blended, and flavorful. For sauce from a pizza place I had high expectations! I've been going here since I was a kid, over 25 years. The owner, Sal, is the best! A hard worker is an understatement. How he remembers everyone and can take the time to chat for a bit while still working so hard is beyond me. The entire staff is friendly and hard- working as well. They have SO many specialty slices. Meals that are rethought and done on a pie. There hasn't been one that I haven't liked yet. Their meals are delicious too, with very generous-sized portions. Very underwhelming. The regular and Sicilian slices tasted bland, lacking any salt. The mac and cheese slice was watery tasting, and with only 3 slices out at 11:30 in the morning I would think that wasn't made fresh. In fact, none of the slices ordered were piping hot at 11:30 like you'd expect. The garlic knots, if you could even call them that, we're terrible. They were just balls of dough, saturated in oil and had a grainy texture. The only item that was delicious was the side of sauce for the garlic knots. Unfortunately I will not be going back. It was a Sunday night and the pizza craving was hitting hard. I found it super difficult to find a spot that was open nearby and I was lucky enough to find Phil's Pizza II. I walked in an hour before they closed and they were ready to take any order which was good to see. The staff was extremely helpful taking my order and making sure they fully understood what I wanted. The pizza itself was very good. I was surprised, for a last minute try, I was able to find such a good spot. I got the bbq chicken pizza and it was amazing. The chicken was absolutely delicious. Lo and behold, my salvation was a mere 15 steps away, glowing like a beacon of doughy delight - Phil's Pizza 2. So, I shuffled over, drawn in like a moth to a flame, or a man to pizza. I walked in, my eyes took a tour of the audacious array of specialty pies, a sight that could've easily put the Sistine Chapel to shame. Then, out of nowhere, a wild slice with a caramelized crust appeared! A connoisseur of the ordinary, I was curious about this unusual delicacy. My new buddy Sal, at the counter, explained it was a Detroit style pizza. With all the subtly of a rhino at a tea party, I bellowed "I'll take two!" while glancing around to ensure no one heard me order Detroit style pizza in Massapequa Park. If the pizza police come knocking, Sal, you know nothing! Sal, by the way, is the friendliest guy you could meet, always smiling, even when wrestling with a rogue soda fountain. It was like watching David vs Goliath, if Goliath was a carbonated monster. Onto the main event. The two slices that landed in front of me were absolute behemoths. Godzilla would've run away, scared. But I, braver or hungrier (jury's still out), faced them down. The pizza wasn't heavy, it was light and fluffy, just like my spirit as I took the first bite. The tomatoes were fresh, and the crust... oh, that crust. Caramelized by the cheese to a divine crunchiness. It was as if a deep pan disco had happened, and my mouth was the dance floor. For you etiquette enthusiasts, yes, I used a fork and knife. I followed Sal's advice, and it was a wise decision. Else, I would've needed a bath after the meal, and believe me, the FedEx guys would not appreciate that. In conclusion, my unexpected detour to Phil's Pizza 2 was the high point of my day, maybe even my week. I'd give it two very cheesy thumbs up! If you're around Massapequa Park, make the trip. How does one enhance something so commonly found as pizza? Well, I guess that's an easy question to answer in this modern day of "anything goes", especially in the food world, but at Phil's Pizza II, they've done a great job of knocking this idea out of the pizza park (more or less). I found this out firsthand back in late June when I entered the land of toppings. Yep, that's how Phil's does it. It's all about the crazy concoctions of items which can go atop a pizza creating some eyebrow raising options that are actually pretty darn tasty. Well, I don't know how the French onion slice actually holds up, but it's intriguing enough to want to give it a whirl. On my visit, which fell around 8:30PM, I found myself face to face with a glass case of mostly basic (or nothing I haven't seen before) slice choices...that is besides one with tater tots, a Swedish meatball variety, and another with buffalo calamari. An interesting start to say the least. There were a couple of others that were relatively original which actually made their way into my mouth. First off, the Drunken Sicilian. No, this was not an inebriated Italian man, but rather a classic bready, square slice with vodka instead of red sauce. Quite delightful and a pretty solid pizza option. The real uniqueness I partook in (and loved) was the carbonara slice. I mean pasta carbonara is a great dish on its own, but imagine those meaty pieces, little veggie pea bites, and creamy sauce amongst actual angel hair pasta all on a slice. It was glorious to behold and even better to taste! Not to veer away from what Phil's II is known for, but in viewing the place as a whole, the staff seemed friendly letting me know I could sit in the back room (which was more of a waiter service setup) and pricing was decent for my two speciality slices and a grape Fanta (a little more than $10 I think?). The ambiance also rocks a regular pizza place vibe with a touch of style which actually helps in keeping their concoctions on the down low for unsuspecting customers (though a good Yelper would know where to go for insane pizza creations!). Overall, Phil's Pizza II may look, feel, and even smell like a regular pizzeria, but when you take a gander into that display case of pizza options, don't be surprised to find something extremely out of the ordinary (Thanksgiving dinner slice?). Though my on-the-later-side visit didn't bode entirely well for choices, I still got to try a few creations that were definitely original and full of flavor. With that in mind, I'll stick with a four star review and hope to get back to Massapequa soon to try some other concoctions that could lead this unique little pizza spot into five star territory. read more

Having frequented Phil's 2 in the past and enjoying their diverse menu, I regrettably find myself recounting a nightmarish episode that unfolded after eating in there yesterday evening. It is with sincere reluctance that I assign a 1 star to this establishment, a rating driven by an unsettling bout of *food poisoning*. Opting for a potato egg and onion parm hero with a rice ball, I placed my order well in advance--1 hour and 15 minutes before their closing time. I did not assume old ingredients would be used. I have not had this hero in quite awhile even though it's one of my favorites...and the anticipation of a s delicious meal quickly turned into a nightmarish ordeal, mere hours after consuming the hero. The subsequent chain of events was nothing short of distressing. A couple of hours after eating in the meal, I found myself overwhelmed by symptoms that left me incapacitated. Profuse sweating accompanied by an uncontrollable flow of saliva(due to my body preparing to vomit), a painful stomach churn, and an acute sense of nausea ensued. The night was marked by relentless spells of vomiting and alternating between the restroom and a queasy stomach. The best part was vomiting into the near by trash can while on the toilet ! Definitely a fond memory I will always hold dear to my heart, thanks Phil's 2 ! In a cruel twist of fate, I endured a sleepless night from 2 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., as the repercussions of the ill-fated meal held me hostage. The inability to even retain water served as a stark reminder of the ordeal I was subjected to. Preceding this unfortunate occurrence, I had been in good health throughout the day, making the ordeal all the more perplexing. The distress I experienced, both physically and mentally, cannot be understated. While I acknowledge that one incident doesn't define an entire establishment, it's disheartening to attribute my suffering to a dining experience at a familiar locale. Today, as I write this review, I find myself in a state of gradual recovery. However, my stomach remains unsettled, serving as a reminder of the havoc that unfolded due to what can only be described as a lapse in food quality. While I hesitate to levy criticism, given my amicable interactions with the management and my physical proximity to the establishment due to my store being close by, I believe that transparency and accountability are paramount. My hope is that this feedback underscores the significance of serving fresh, safe, and wholesome meals. In conclusion, the unfortunate experience I endured at Phil's 2 serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of one's well-being. As I navigate through the aftermath of this ordeal, I implore that a heightened attention to food safety measures becomes a priority for the benefit of all patrons. I happened to be next door dropping off a return item at the FedEx location, so I figured why not give this pizza place a try? I assume they are affiliated with the other Massapequa location (also not that great, but slightly better service) and the one in Syosset (which was good last time I was there - but that was pre-pandemic). Didn't seem that busy even around lunch time but anyway- got a couple slices and waited - nothing out of the ordinary. Then I go to pay and I hand the bald guy (didn't catch his name) my debit card. I respectfully tell him I don't need a receipt, and he just kinda throws my debit card on the counter. I thought that was strange. Maybe he didn't mean anything by it - I know many businesses prefer cash, but still as a customer I took that as a bit rude. I really probably won't come back. The pizza tasted like it was re-heated from yesterday evening and the crust was very dry, bland, and maybe even a bit stale. "Throw" that in with the tossing of my debit card on the counter and you have one customer that won't come back. Visited here today after a Barnes and Nobles kids event with the family. We each tried something different. I had a chicken parm slice, my daughter a chicken ranch slice, wife a chicken roll and lastly my son had a normal slice. Also ordered garlic knots. Overall I can say one of the better pizza joints (taste wise) on the island. They had an insane variety of pizzas. Too many to list. The knots were good (3 for a dollar) just inconsistent size wise. My chicken parm slice tasted almost exactly like the wife's chicken roll. Not complaining...just point it out. Staff was very friendly and the location is clean. Plenty of parking. I've always been a frequent customer of Phil's Pizza in Syosset. So since we were in Massapequa, my husband's craving for pizza took us to their sister restaurant. Size wise it is much smaller than the Syosset location. There is the counter to order in the front and seats in the back to dine in. We were greeted by Sal who was so friendly and showed great customer service by bringing out out pizza slices when they were ready. He even gave us silverware since we were dining in to make it easier to eat. The pizza is great. You have your standards, but if you have been to Phil's, you know they have quite the variety in types of pizzas to order from. They also have entree dishes made to order as well. I got the chicken Capri slice and the white slice there. The chicken Capri is like a chicken bruschetta on a Sicilian slice. The white slice was satisfyingly cheesy. They have some pretty cool variety at this place. Types of pizza include French onion, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and chicken pot pie. It's definitely unique, but is also expensive. Slices are about $5 per slice with whole pies at $25. They also reheat slices that are pre made. To me this decreases the quality. This was seen when we had the grilled cheese and tomato pizza. It was sub-par because the way we dried up on the reheat. We asked for extra sauce and it made it much better. We also had the France onion which was delicious, and the balsamic chicken which was very good. Overall a good place. It lost one star for the price and one for reheating. I don't think I'll go out of my way again to go but would return if I'm in the area. read more

I went to check this place out because I was in town for the weekend and it was basically around the corner from my hotel. After seeing that it had almost five stars I decided to pop in and try a couple of dishes with my wife. The service was ok... Meaning they barely greeted and took our order. We're coming up from DC and it was a bit of a culture shock to see that none of the employees were wearing mask or gloves while preparing the food. Speaking of food it lacked flavor. Visit Date: August 15, 2019 I was going to Barnes and Noble because I got a coupon for a free coffee at their new cafe and I've been dying for some gluten free pizza so I decided to place an order at Phil's II first so I could have some pizza for lunch. I asked them if they could put bacon on it that's my standard go to pizza topping so they did. They had my order done in a timely fashion as promised, I went into Barnes and Noble got my coffee and got some toys for my son. (We're weaning from breastfeeding cold turkey, he's 3) so I got him some toys to give him each day as weaning presents. I was in and out of barnes and noble as quickly as I could be and when I got back to Phil's II my pizza was ready. The people at the counter were very courteous and friendly which is always a plus. I am trying mindful eating and sometimes I am failing spectacularly with it, other days I'm doing okay, I just hope I can get more on track of doing it decently or okay because I've been afraid to step on the scale but know I've put some weight back on that I lost. Anyway today I'm doing okay with the mindful eating so I didn't shove the whole pizza down my throat I ate a half portion and will eat the other half for breakfast tomorrow. The pizza was delicious. Gluten free pizza is hit or miss. I'm not a fan of the cauliflower crust, I do like cauliflower and I love riced cauliflower but don't like it in crust form. So anyway I try to avoid the cauliflower crust even though I know it's probably healthier. Phils II did an amazing job with their gluten free pizza. It was really delicious. Phil's Pizza is one of those places that I have always known existed, yet never had the opportunity or the want to stop in. Well, one afternoon, after some enjoyable book browsing at Barnes and Noble, the opportunity finally knocked!! I was by myself, had some time to kill, so I decided to go to Phil's and get a slice. From the outside, my initial impression was that I'm entering just another average pizza place. But, once inside, I knew this was not going to be average pizza, but great pizza. The specialty pizza that was displayed is too numerous to list here (you name it, they offer it), but just by looking at it I could tell it was really fresh and delicious. This is the kind of place that will not let their pizza "sit out" for very long. This time around, I kept it simple and ordered the Neapolitan. Great is an understatement, this was awesome pizza. The cheese practically covered the entire slice, the crust was thin yet it held all of that cheese and the sauce was perfect. No question they use top quality ingredients. I could not stop at one slice, I had to have another. There's a nice and comfortable little dining area towards the back, perfect for pizza night out with the family. There were so many people coming and going while I was there, they are obviously one of the choice pizza places in the area. Creativity in any form is a pleasure to behold. When it comes to culinary creativity, it can be tasty as well. Phil's Pizza II embodies both with their unique and why-didn't-I-think-of-that specialty slices. I couldn't believe the sheer genius behind some of their slices. The first time I was there I walked out with two of them and a few of their garlic knots, and have since gone back for more of their slices: Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup: this has got to be the most unique slice I have ever seen! An actual grilled cheese diced into finger sandwiches and put atop a slice whose sauce is tomato soup. A true tangy, cheesy taste experience. This one is definitely as good as it looks, folks! Carbonara: angel hair pasta with carbonara sauce. Though somewhat bland, that's apparently what this type of sauce is . . . I added a little Texas Pete hot sauce to liven it up. Stuffed Artichoke Sicilian: how is it that no one else has thought this one up? This was billed as a house special. Essentially exactly as it sounds, with quartered slices of artichoke, bread crumbs and the requisite sauce. It was ok, but imho it would be much better if 1) it had a base of a regular crust, as the bread to topping ratio is off, tipped more in favor of the dough - and the overall taste suffers for it; 2) the artichoke were chopped up and spread evenly about, so you get a bit in each bite. Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad (on a whole wheat crust): this one looked real good, but it needed just a little more of (and a better) Caesar dressing. Short Ribs and Fries: also billed as a house special, this one was quite good! Slices of short rib meat atop shoestring french fries with mozzarella cheese binding it all together . . . whew! The only way I'd improve this already great tasting slice is more meat, less fries! White Meatball Marinara: thin slices of meatball with tomato sauce and dollops of ricotta cheese. The meatball slices were somewhat lacking in flavor for my taste, and I am a big fan of very thick meatball slices as a topping in general. Thicker and tastier meatball slices would have made this a winner. Balsamic Chicken: balsamic chicken has always been one of my favorites - and when I saw the amount of chicken they had on their slice, I had to try it! The mound of chicken is interspersed with chunks of mozzarella cheese, all atop a bed of thick tomato slices. It was good, but it didn't have that pronounced vinegar taste that I have always enjoyed. For those who don't care for too much of a vinegary taste, this one's for you! 5280: not sure what the significance of "5280" is with regard to the name of this one, but I would go a mile to pick up a slice of one of these! (Actually shame on me - it's their address on Sunrise Highway . . . !) Breaded diced chicken cutlet, bacon, tomato slices, cheddar cheese and thousand island dressing - combine into a very unique and interesting taste! Definitely one of the good ones here a Phil's 2! Garlic Knots: look great, but unfortunately are not very garlicky. I've had better, and I'm a little surprised a pizza place with such an amazing offering of specialty slices wouldn't have a good, if not great, basic menu item like the garlic knot. Conclusion: Phil's II has such a great selection of imaginative specialty slices that I will definitely be coming back for more, like the Reuben, Buffalo Mac&Cheese, the Thanksgiving slice, and more. My husband had the mac and cheese on pretzel crust which looked amazing but I thought also lacked flavor. The meat stuffed pizza def had more flavor compared to the other 2 slices! Coming from Queens with some of the best pizzeria/restaurants around I've been looking for a place in Long Island since we moved in February'. Although pleased with the pizza from Phil's Pizza II I was sort of disappointed with the food. I was looking forward to trying this place since the reviews were great and the pizza was decent. But damn talking about being disappointed. I ordered a pepper and egg hero the peppers weren't cooked and the hero was so salty it was inedible. We also ordered the chicken parm dinner. It would have been a decent dish but it was soaked in oil. Not like it was cooked and drained it was swimming in olive oil. The rice ball was strange. It was packed with bread crumbs and rice so it was extremely dry and usually the ones I've had are stuffed with meat and peas. I'll chalk it up to a bad day and I'll give it another try. I had the most bizarre experience here the other day. Walked in with my friend. First of all, we were not greeted, no hello, nothing. The staff only spoke once I said hello how are you. This one girl at the counter was acting so weird. My friend mentioned he didn't like how she was looking at him. He was uncomfortable he walked out and didn't even order anything. I thought he was being dramatic at first until he walked back in to ask me something and I watched her. She kept looking at him like she was nervous or uncomfortable or something. It was soooo weird. My food was warmed up for like 2 minutes. I guess they wanted to get me out of there? It was the weirdest experience. You could cut the tension with a knife. I don't know if the girl was nervous or what. I've been here a couple of times before and never had an issue but I will never come back here that's for sure. read more

First of all, there are so many pizzas to choose from - all the good flavors you see somewhat often like pepperoni, BBQ chicken, vodka slice, etc. but also some crazy ones like tater tot slice, spicy chicken, grilled cheese and tomato soup pizza, pasta pizza! I could go on and on. Besides the pizza & knots being delicious, I was really impressed by the service. The workers were all so friendly! We were greeted as soon as we walked in.. then ordered our food and sat down while they brought our pizza over to us. Phils Pizza II is our go to Italian place.. whether it's Pizza, pasta or eggplant, fish or salads, they do it all, and they do it well! I first had their pizza at a mens lunch i attend at my church. I decided to try them through Doordash. OUTSTANDING meals. My wife loved the flounder oreganata, and the eggplant parm. I enjoy the pasta dishes, great food, the service is great as well.
