Me and my Girlfriend walked into the Lancaster Food Market not knowing what the food looked like. We opted for the Yakitori Chicken on tortillas and hoped for the best since it was our first time. The store was nice and very clean so we waited. The food being cooked definitely made my mouth water a little. When we got it, we walked outside and sat down. The wait and the drive, was totally worth it. The Chicken melts into your tastebuds, spices were just right and we were in awe. Stopped in at this Food Hall on a Wednesday night to catch the Trivia and grabbed a bite to eat at Philthy Good. When I first walked in the aromas were enticing and I was pretty much committed at that point. I ended up order the multi-meat rice bowl that came with pork, chicken and beef I believe. The sauces were nice and the black garlic was pungent but not too overpowering. Overall I was very pleased with the dish aside from one piece of protein that I wasn't able to identify. It was very hard and spongey. I wasn't able to sink my teeth into it but it gave off the earthy flavor that I sometimes associate with tripe. I was feeling a bit adventurous this evening and since it was raining I opted to drive to eat instead of walk and get soaked. This place came up and caught my eye. Narrow menu but interesting concept. I went with the shrimp and flour and the pork belly with corn tortillas. I also had the Asian salad. Normally the shrimp would have been my favorite but wow the pork belly was amazing. The Asian salad was delicious also. Drink offering is bottle only and limited. So I'll say there's a lot i don't know. Like really how deep is the ocean? Or why we call jumbo shrimp any other name than shrimp? What i do know is this...what brings me joy and happiness. This place does that! The creative flavors of two cultures coming together is what makes this a must visit. The food is absolutely amazing. We order the pork belly sliders and taco combo, as well as shrimp tacos . The pickled carrots and onions on the sliders...mmmmmhhhmmm chefs kiss!! The kimchi slaw!! Stop it!! Just out of this world flavors. The place is clean, the owner (Andrew) is great, along with his other staff members. But the real joy here...is the food!! Go get you some!! Ps. Philthy Good was literally PHILTHY GOOD. Visiting in the area for a couple days and my daughter loves trying new things and found this place online. We decided to give it a try because it had great reviews and I'm so glad we did. The place was very clean and welcoming. We stared at the menu for a min and my daughter had the bowl with the chicken thighs. I had the bowl with short rib and my father and husband tried a variety of the tacos. They tried the shrimp, chicken and short rib tacos. They really enjoyed the shrimp out of all of them. My favorite was the pickled veggies they were so good and put the bowl over the top in flavor. The service was great and they were patient with when we were deciding on what to try and gave recommendations. The food didn't take long and came out hot and was plated so nicely. Service was great. Menu looked great. Restaurant was clean - lots of places to sit in that area - atmosphere was great. Food smelled amazing. We got the taco sampler. The flavor on the short rib taco was excellent, but the meat, although saucey, was dry and overcooked. The pork belly was undercooked (cool in the middle) but again - flavors were great. The chicken was our least favorite flavor wise but not bad at all - the cilantro lime crema was a little overwhelming (we got a generous amount when I would have preferred a drizzle) - chicken was cooked perfectly - the char was nice - but flavor balance fell a little short. The acid from the slaw was great, but the taco as a whole was 2 dimensional. I wonder if this was an "off day" or a slow week where we got food that was sitting or was reheated from the day before. This is the impression I got from the short rib - the pork belly was pre prepped and then flash grilled - it needed to grill longer to get the crispy edge and heat all the way through. Ordered this for delivery through toast. First- it was super fast and easy to message the delivery driver. Second- when I saw the name, I was under the assumption this would be a cheesesteak place and boy was I wrong (which is okay because it was delicious). They offer amazing tacos with a variety of flavors. We ordered the pork belly and chicken in bowls and it was a hearty portion! The chicken was incredibly tender and full of flavor. The pork belly was delicious but a little tougher than the chicken. I loved the sauces that came with each dish as well. If you're in Lancaster I would definitely suggest trying them out! Philthy Good is located at the Southern Market in Lancaster, which is largely food stands, however this space is a standalone just as you enter the building. I've seen the marque with specials that all seemed not related to the name Philthy.....that screamed Philadelphia to me, until it didn't. I'm not drawn by cheesesteaks and whiz, which is why it took me so long but go in, just go in and read the actual menu. It's not Philly at all, not one bit. Pork belly bites, Yakitori chicken bites, shrimp......bowls & tacos with all those same meats, add delicious jasmine rice. Ordering on the screen and paying was easy enough. Wait for a short time while everything is prepared and you will be presented with beautiful and also tasty food. I ordered the appetizer portion of the pork belly bites and added chicken, it was more than a meal. I added a side of aioli, remember I had no idea what I was doing, and it was tasty but definitely not needed as the meats were so well spiced and sauced already. read more
