Wow, absolutely no notes for this coffee place. I have been an avid Philz coffee enthusiast for well over 5 years now, I have tried a handful of locations in the LA area and in the San Fransisco/ Bay Area and let me tell you, the consistency is there! I live for a good cold brew and this place will do it every time! Their Oatmeal cookie and Carmel Coconut will definitely hit the spot for those that are more on the sweet, less-strong-coffee'ish vibe. Philz never disappoints, I will always get a 1lb bag to take home since my only "bad notes" are 1) there none in the Central Valley, and 2) since the coffee is THAT good, the lines are pretty lengthy. This is my go to place when I want to get away from the SB, and the "P" coffee chains. I usually go to this one when I'm running errands in the Lafayette area and want to grab and go using the "app", I actually have to be careful because I use it without confirming which Philz whether it's WC or the Lafayette location. Either way I go to Lafayette more frequently. The location is not too busy and I can definitely grab a seat while I grab a Philharmonic or the Mint Mojito, or my Tesoro hot coffee. Staff that work here are always friendly and helpful, and cheerful. read more

This location for Philz is great. There is plenty of seating inside and a lot of opportunities to do work here. They also have some seating outdoors. The staff is really friendly and the coffee is consistent. There is a lot of paid parking nearby as well as some free street parking. It can get really busy though. read more

I can't say enough about this place, it's one of my favorite destinations in Lafayette. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and they always make sure your drinks are to your liking after it's handed over to you. This one is located in downtown Lafayette. Specifically at the Lafayette Mercantile Center. This one is a lot bigger than the ones I have been into. Also a nice set up. Philz in Lafayette is always a great spot to grab a coffee and get some work or studying done. The vibe is chill and welcoming, making it easy to settle in for a while. This is consistently the best Philz in the area IME. The drinks are better than the ones in the surrounding areas. I love the vibes here! The baristas are so so sweet and they always greet me with warm smiles when I walk in. This Philz is my spot!! I usually hike around the area and like to stop here after to get a little coffee to perk up my day. I get the mint mojito, less sweet and less creamy. I've gotten a variety of different outcomes when I order this, depending on the person making it, but it has never disappointed. Their price point is on the pricier side, but it makes up for it in quality. Their food items always look slightly disappointing and nothing ever calls out to me, so I have never ordered any of their food. I wish they had better pastries or food items that weren't lackluster and didn't break the bank. Overall, I prefer this location because of the fast service, quality drinks, and friendly staff. Environment- Philz is a very busy spot with lots of spacious comfortable seating. It's clean and has lots of natural lighting. There is a lot of background noise from the customers, coffee making, and music so you'll need soundproof headphones if you want to study here. Philz is better for socializing than studying. Set-Up- It's a bit complicated but it makes the experience feel more personalized. First, order your drink with a barista. Remember who you ordered from. Next, go to the cashier and pay for your drink. Last, go back to the barista you ordered from and wait for them to call you over for your drink. Basically you wait in line 3 times which feels like a slow process because you're waiting 3 times. However, the barista will ask you to taste your drink to make sure it's how you like it, making the wait worthwhile. Coffee- There is a HUGE selection of coffees to choose from. They're all very strong and have distinct flavors. The large menu will keep me wanting to come back to try all the flavors to determine my favorite. I came in for a quick bite and pick me up in the mid-afternoon. I was immediately greeted and staff were really friendly. I was in and out in about 5 minutes, woo hoo! Drink (iced mint mojito): My go-to, so no issues there :) For those who haven't had Philz, I think it's a great "starter" coffee to get a taste of their coffee style and flavors they got to share. Nom nom (veggie quiche): That was really good. It was heated up for me and the flavors were on point! Not too salty, and just enough veggies for me to get a taste of them. I'd definitely order this again, so take that as you shall! Only downfall for me are the "hidden prices" of their food. I wish I was able to make an informed choice on what I was ordering for food. Mobile order, arrive to pick-up in 15-20 mins. I mobile ordered, and it said pick-up time is 7 minutes after my "place order" time, and I headed there in the 7 minutes, but ended up waiting for around outside (with mask on) for close to an additional 10 minutes after I mentioned I was picking up for Rita. Someone else arrived to make an in-person order because the app wasn't working for that person, and the person at Philz mentioned that it would take 15 minutes for the coffee to be ready. Other than the additional wait time / estimate from the app, Philz coffee is rather consistent. No lattes or fancy steamed milk drinks here; just a lot of variety of coffees, some specialties, with your custom/preferred amount of cream/milk and sweetness. Each cup is filtered to order, hence the wait time for a cup of coffee. Worth it though! My current favorite during a warm day is their iced ecstatic coffee with creamy cream and no sugar. I could still taste the coffee and the texture is amazing. I also enjoy their iced mint mojito coffee too. It's really pretty with the mint leaves on top, before they get all dark after the coffee is finished. Their special coffees, such as their mint mojito, gingersnap, mocha, and rose, are a dollar extra, so I don't get those too often. The husband likes his coffee sweet and flavored, so he'll only get the more expensive stuff from Philz, and his fave is the gingersnap. All are pretty good and tastes as advertised. My fave regular coffees are their dark and medium roasts. I enjoy Julie's Ultimate, Tesora, and Jacob's Wunderbar. All so good, with some cream. They have a variety of milk for no additional charge - cream, regular, oat, almond, soy, vanilla, soy, etc. Considering not too much goes into the coffee, makes sense for the coffee to be all the same price regardless of which milk option goes in there. The interior portion was closed because of shelter-in-place orders, but it look rather roomy in there. I've only done mobile order pick-up, but perhaps one day I will get a chance to sit inside or even outside since it looks so nice around this Philz location. read more

It's our first time trying Philz coffee. My daughter had heard a lot of good stuff about this coffee place and of course intrigued .. we gave it a try!!! This place has mobile and in person order. My daughter and I stood in line and the line went by pretty quick. They have specialty coffee and regular coffee. Since, it my first time here and I wanted to order something special, I ordered a mint mojito hot coffee and my daughter ordered the Ecstatic iced coffee. My coffee was different Iba a good way and it was delicious. I can taste the mojito flavor and also there was a mint leaf inside my coffee which gave it a nice flavor. My daughter loved her coffee Only downside is they forgot about our order and waited longer. The cashier did apologized but was very abrupt about it. I really enjoy meeting up with groups of people at this Philz location. Why? Because they have ample seating -- both indoor and outdoor -- delicious beverages -- both hot and cold -- and tasty food items. I realize that they took over the previously popular La Boulangerie location, and I think that they have done well by this site. The interior still has an open feel and the ordering process is easy; just walk in the front door or back door and up to the counter where your barista makes your Philz specialty drink to order. There are high top and low top tables in the back. There is also a high top communal table that is GREAT for groups! The exterior is welcoming as well; there is a fountain and patio-style seating all along the side of the coffee shop that's perfect in the summer months. Their best known drink, the Mint Mojito Coffee, is an acquired taste for those who aren't used to Philz! You can also customize your drinks to your liking, including the coffee strength, sweetener and milk, which is ALL prepared by the barista. I've always wanted to go to Philz and now I have. It's hot or cold pour-over coffee with regular and bizarre flavors. Not really my bag. I like espresso and traditional macchiatos which isn't what they do. Hey, Phil, you be you. No negativity but it was a long ordering process for what ended up being a cup of coffee and I walked out feeling like it was a Cold Stone with coffee instead of ice cream. I drank a few sips. It was OK. Then I went to Peet's and got a double espresso. I'm just not the target customer I guess. But they're really passionate about whatever it is they do and I wish them the best. Go to the Walnut Creek location. They actually make the coffee I the order in which they were ordered. Yesterday I ordered through the app, and it said Poala was making my coffee and would be ready in 9 minutes. I arrived at the shop 10 minutes later and waited ten more minutes. Today I ordered one coffee. Two other customers ordered after me, Allie they were behind me in line. They both go their coffees before me. Sorry you all need to do better. Oh my lord - favorite Philz location ever! Those of you who has been following me for 5+ years KNOW that I love Philz in general and have been to countless locations. With that said, I have to choose the Lafayette location as my #1 favorite because I LOVE how bright and spacious it is and most importantly they have the most amazing staff! I tried the mint mojito (with normal cream and another one with oatmilk) and rose here. I never had oatmilk before, it's a great alternative if you are looking for something on the lighter side. I love my drink super creamy, but for that summer bod, I might have to go with the oatmilk ;) And you know I always look for places that are perfect for studying or working remotely from. I was pleasantly surprised at how perfectly they have the space for it. Overall, this location is excellent for your morning coffee and weekend relaxation.
