Got the hojicha drink with the least amount of sugar and loved it. My friend got the matcha cloudo and no sugar (as she's really ok with unsweetened drinks) and I felt that it will be better with some levels of sweetness. The shop doesn't recommend getting no sugar and I agree. Line wasn't too long on Sunday at 2pm
Le Grey is one of those bougie tea places that makes you feel like you're in China. It definitely has higher quality tea than most, but I'm not sure if it was noticeably any different than any other international tea chain. I got the signature sweetness and thought it was way too sweet. The mitt pu'er tasted like a tiramisu latte. Very limited seating; only for waiting.
I knew I was gonna love this place after walking by it for the first time, doing a double take because of the simple, modern aesthetic, then noting to try it after dinner, which is exactly what we did! I love Le Grey, which is now my new favorite spot for hojicha. Le Grey is a new tea shop in the Chinatown-International District neighborhood, featuring matcha and hojicha. I absolutely love hojicha, which is not all that easy to find around the area. But after learning that Le Grey has a hojicha cloud oat, I knew that was the drink I had to get. It was fantastic, with the roasted flavor that I absolutely love from hojicha and liked that the creamy, cloud oat foam on top wasn't too sweet, just adding a little oomph to the tea. I highly recommend trying if you love hojicha like yours truly. Le Grey's space isn't the largest, but has some seating inside. Despite the line, it went by fast and we didn't wait long for our order on a Friday night. Any time I'm in the CID, I'll have to visit Le Grey for my caffeine fix. So bomb.
3.5 stars Warning for future patrons: the menu has symbols indicating "dairy". The drinks in the "oats" section that don't have the "dairy" symbol still contains dairy. The salt foam is made with dairy, so any drink that has the foam has dairy. My husband and I stopped by around 2pm on a Sunday and the tiny shop had about half a dozen folks waiting for their drinks. The ambience is modern and catching, service was meh, and the menu and ordering process is a little confusing. The drinks were alright, and a little pricy; our two drinks came out to $17 before taxes. I think it's a fun treat and worth stopping by if you're in the area or have a very specific craving.

The drink itself was fine, but it really only tasted like jasmine tea despite it defined as a matcha drink. I do like jasmine tea a lot so I didn't mind it, but again I was expecting more matcha. I have tried a bit of the hojicha oolong drink which I do think tasted more like hojicha, so maybe get that one instead.
Found this spot on TikTok and immediately knew I had to try it because I've been on such a matcha kick lately. I ordered the Matcha Cloudo and the Brown Sugar Boba Matcha. The Matcha Cloudo was definitely my favorite it's a jasmine milk tea with oat milk, matcha, and a sea salt crema on top. It tasted super floral, creamy, and refreshing. The sea salt crema tied everything together so well. (For my lactose people the crema on top does contain dairy so ask for the off if you are lactose intolerant.) I also tried the Brown Sugar Boba Matcha which was still good, but the brown sugar flavor kind of overpowered the matcha for me. If you're a big matcha lover, I'd definitely recommend the Matcha Cloudo over that one. The inside of the shop is sooo cute too, very minimalistic and aesthetically pleasing. I also really appreciated how thoughtful their menu setup was. They have little symbols for things like sweetness levels and food allergens (for example, dairy is marked with a blue water droplet), which makes ordering super easy and accessible. Overall such a cute spot and definitely worth checking out if you love matcha or fun specialty drinks.

We ordered the Matcha Makio, which seems to be one of their signature and most popular drinks. It was smooth, well-balanced, and just the right level of sweetness without being overpowering. We also tried the guava lemonade which leans on the sweeter side, but the guava flavor really stands out, which I enjoyed. We went on a Saturday around noon and there was no wait, and the drinks came out quickly. Seating is pretty limited though, so we ended up waiting outside for a bit. It's not really a place to sit and study, but perfect if you're looking for a quick matcha fix.

Even after mixing the cream, the tea flavor was difficult to comprehend, but the drink was creamier at least. Overall, would skip this despite having the store name and being their specialty drink. Matcha Cloudo Oat - this met my expectations of a green tea because it's a jasmine tea base. This drink had a nice floral aroma, but matcha felt a bit buzzwordy because it's trendy. The dark green layering on the cup was promising, but there was no umami taste or grassy undertones. Matcha is a special green tea and honestly performs better by itself rather than with green tea. It's a good tea but expecting matcha may lead to disappointment.
Modern and trendy grab and go place. Matcha cloudo - 5/5 Jasmine green tea + matcha + milk + sea salt cream. This was IMPECCABLE, DELICIOUS, and EXQUISITE. I could drink one every day. I got signature (regular) sweetness and it was perfect! Their drinks are already not too sweet to begin with. The matcha and jasmine green tea was well balanced. The jasmine green tea is stronger and the sea salt cream was tasty! If you like Molly Tea-- GO HERE
The interior is really cute and there is some seating area, so I would say it's a small area to talk but not a place to work. The service was quick and simple - similar to HeyTea and other boba shop. I recommend the matcha cloud . It does taste more of jasmine than matcha but it does remind me closer
The matcha cloudo was 4/5 stars for me. The ingredients taste clearly of high quality, especially obvious with the cloudo cream. The jasmine flavor is balanced and the floral quality shines, but there's not enough matcha flavor to balance the milkiness and dairy flavor added from the cream. The matcha cloudo without the cream (which my friend got bc she's lactose intolerant) is delicious and much more balanced overall! Also Le Grey makes probably the best hojicha latte of any cafe in Seattle! It's a tea that's definitely on the rise so try this one if you want to be very very pleased
Le Grey LOOKS like a bougie coffee joint, but it's actually a bougie TEA joint. And their tea is good. Damn good. Last I was here, shared a matcha latte with oat milk with a friend, and wish I had gotten my own. It wasn't just any matcha latte, this "Matcha Cloudo" is made with a melodic jasmine green tea, and topped with sea salt cream. The jasmine is so pronounced you can't miss it. Love to see spots like this popping up, and can't wait to return. And maybe sit by the window and maybe stare blankly outside like I've got big thoughts. And sip another Matcha Cloudo. Pinch me! The seasonal green cortado is one of the most unique matcha drinks I've had in Seattle. Topped with black sesame powder and nori, the savory notes gradually infuse into the drink as you sip, making each taste a little different from the last. The matcha itself is excellent and balanced enough to stand up to the milk instead of getting lost, which isn't always the case with specialty matcha lattes. That said, I was definitely surprised by the price. Since it's a cortado, the drink is served in a very small cup, which I expected, but I still had a bit of sticker shock when the total came out to around $10. The service also felt a little off during my visit. The employee wasn't rude, but the interaction felt very scripted and a bit rushed, leaving me feeling like I needed to make a decision quickly. There isn't much seating, so it's probably not the best spot to settle in with a laptop or catch up with friends for a while. The interior, however, is beautifully designed with a clean, modern aesthetic that makes the space feel thoughtfully curated. Despite a couple of small drawbacks, I'd absolutely come back for another cortado because the drink itself was genuinely memorable. read more

Located in the CID with plenty of nearby street parking and accessible with public transportation. The space itself is pretty small with the ordering area being towards the back of the store and then the waiting area being towards the front. I came by when it was pretty busy and even then, the wait for the drink was very quick. Ordered the Matcha Makio with 0% sugar and they were persistent that I shouldn't order it because it was going to be too strong but after getting it, it didn't feel as strong as they were making it to be. Overall a good earthy taste and appreciated that it wasn't too milky. Would definitely come back again to try the other drinks. read more

I love the interior design of this place!! It is small but cozy. Drinks were pretty good!! I really liked the matcha island, the light coconut milk paired really well with the bitter matcha. Definitely wanna come back to try their guava lemonade tho! read more

Such a sweet tea shop. Great counter service. Beautiful interior, clean lines without feeling cold. Had the Hojicha oolong. Just lightly sweet perfect. Salted cream was nice. Would def go again to try more teas. read more

Le Grey is a new addition to the Matcha/tea scene in the International District/Chinatown. I think the ambiance inside is very sleek and instrial. There's no tables but there is some seating. There's a wide variety of drinks but I would consider this place more of a matcha spot than a boba spot if you're looking for other types of drinks. It is in chinatown so you're gonna have to fight for parking. Compared to the other options it definitely is on the pricier side, this drink cost me about $9. I would come again if I was really craving it or if a friend asked me to go. Staff: Really Nice (5/5) Sanitation: Really Clean (5/5) Hojicha Oolong w/cream top (4/5) The Hojicha flavor came throuh quite nicely, especially when you mixed it in with the cream top. The cream top was a salted one which I feel like you can never go wrong. I did taste some tea flavor but it wasn't super strong in the drink because I felt like it got overpowered by the hojicha. It was a relatively creamy and easy to drink. I would definitely order it again but would want to try other options first. read more
Le Grey is a beautifully put together tea shop that really stands out with its clean, minimal aesthetic. The space feels modern and calming, with subtle design details that make it feel upscale without being overdone. It's definitely a spot that matches the vibe of its drinks. Their menu covers a solid range matcha, milk teas, boba, fresh teas, smoothies, and fruit teas so there's something for everyone whether you're into classic flavors or something a little more unique. Service was top notch. The cashier was friendly, welcoming, and clearly knew the menu well, which made ordering easy. It's always a good sign when staff can confidently guide you instead of just taking orders. For drinks, I tried the Strawberry Kinu, and it was easily one of the best smoothies I've had super smooth, refreshing, and well-balanced. My wife got the Hojicha Oolong, and she loved it. Presentation wise, her drink looked amazing and honestly matched Le Grey's aesthetic perfectly. Overall, Le Grey nails the experience from the vibe to the drinks to the service. Step in and you feel like your in Shanghai or New York. The interior design is contemporary, minimalistic, urban. A very nice "classed up" addition to Chinatown I must say. Space is too small though during the hype, but very much liked that you felt like you were in some completely different timezone. Thoroughly enjoyed the Mango Kinu, while mangoes are not in season, it was still delicious and the quality you could taste. The texture of the ice was fynnne and the coconut a perfect compliment. This drink will make me think of visiting everytime. The Match was not bad, tasted fine but nothing mind blowing. It was good, like UG matcha. Maybe I'm not a full blown match person, could be it. The wait if you started right outside the door is around 40 minutes. The line itself moved decently, its after the order that was the main wait. Never a problem waiting for quality, and quality is served here with a touch of class :) read more

Nice new boba spot to try! I had their mango smoothie and it was good! I had cheese cream which I loved with the mango smoothie. Don't shake the drink, just swirl it before drinking! The ambiance was great! Very clean and organized and I loved how they decorated it. Simple and aesthetic. There's not too much seating though. The service was good. We finally get another matcha place in Seattle, and it's in Chinatown too! This takes the place of what used to be Yifang, which used to be Ambrosia, so this particular storefront has undergone many changes. The inside has side seating but not tables; most of the space is for the counter and kitchen where orders are made. It feels modern and minimalistic inside with the new and fresh decorations like a makeshift cherry blossom tree at the front. Menus are located at the front of the store and just before you line up to place your order. Most drinks here are matcha based, with some being original creations and others being their oat milk counterparts. I got their matcha cloudo with oat milk on medium sweet - BIG mistake on my part which I'll get to on the last paragraph - and my bestie got their hojicha oolong on signature sweetness. Now the matcha cloudo is amazing on its own; they use ceremonial which I could taste through the strong grassy and floral tones, and the sea salt cream gave it a nutty taste. My mistake was getting it on medium sweetness, which is less than their signature sweetness, and which I found out after having my bestie's hojicha oolong after noticing my matcha cloudo was bland. Speaking of that, the hojicha taste is strong, and it uses sea salt cream like the matcha cloudo. As implied from the drink I got, do NOT get anything less than signature sweet on your drinks - even if you're trying to avoid sugar. The staff at the front recommend this sweetness level, and I would stick with it too. Their menu options are limited but i see myself coming back whenever I feel like getting a matcha fix without having to drive too far up north. read more

Such a cute spot and the aesthetics are top notch! Happened to walk by before dinner and stopped by after for a little treat. Visited during their soft opening and it was chill inside. I could see this place becoming popular. Paid street parking, sometimes tough to find parking on the weekend. Take public transit if you can! So you can wander and try different spots in the area. Misty pu'er: I love pu'er and this was pretty roasty and bitter. A little too bitter for my taste. I might get a little sweeter next time. We got light ice and signature sweetness which isn't too sweet. I typically don't like very sweet either. The sea salt cream was so good! Very good texture, silky, and salty enough to pair with the drink Matcha cloudo: has jasmine green tea and matcha plus sea salt cream. Super tasty! Again, loved the sea salt cream and the floral notes of the jasmine tea come through too I want to visit again to try their hojicha oolong with boba! Sounds super good read more
Trying out a new tea place in Chinatown. Cute spot with a clean, modern aesthetic--definitely gives more "minimal tea bar" than typical boba shop. The space is small, so it's more of a grab-and-go place than somewhere to hang out. Drinks are solid--good quality matcha and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. read more
Pleasantly surprised! The hojicha & matcha cloud drinks were both very flavorful and I went with a large party and we all enjoyed our drinks. The tea flavor was pretty strong. If you're lactose intolerant make sure to take a lactaid if you get oat milk but have a cream top. Not much seating, more like a grab and go place and the service could have been a little friendlier, but would go again and would recommend. Very aesthetic interior. read more
First off, pretty great marketing. Social media popped off before they opened, and the grey, modern aesthetic is def rare to the area at least. I came by on a Saturday late afternoon, and there wasn't a line to order, but I had to wait ~25 minutes for my drinks. I ordered the le grey green tea with sea salt cream, no sweet and it was not bad. I really liked the sea salt cream, but the tea was super light which I don't prefer. Halfway through the drink, the sea salt cream disappeared, and I was left with watery tea and milk, which was not very good. I'd be open to coming back to try other drinks, but wouldn't go out of my way to visit especially given the long wait times on weekends read more
A nice little tea shop with really good drinks. The space is pretty small - just two benches and no tables. But the minimalist, aesthetic interior made it feel elevated. We ordered the Hojicha Oolong with oat milk and the Matcha Makio, and both were really solid. The flavors were rich without being too strong or too sweet. The Hojicha Oolong was especially smooth, and I really enjoyed the cream top - it wasn't too thick. The staff were really busy and it took a little long for the drinks to come out but you can see How efficient they were behind the counter. Overall I was impressed by this spot! read more

This spot has been all over Instagram most people mention their aesthetic so I wasn't sure what to expect in regards to their quality and flavor of beverages. First off my go to is not Matcha so when my friend said he really enjoyed their Hojicha Oolong it caught my interest since I enjoy both leaf versions of those two teas and wouldn't have necessarily thought they would go together in a milk tea. But this really worked I lot less ice and light sweetness which was perfect. The Hojicha Oolong is a house made with oolong milk tea, finished with roasted hojicha, topped with sea salt cream. It automatically comes with oat milk but you can switch out for regular. I like that they use Califia Oat Milk not Oatly. The oil content in Oatly upsets my stomach. I was very happy how delicious this drink was. I was catching the street car a little bit after I ordered and I finished it so fast. Nice to have more places serving Hojicha drinks around town. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Look forward to trying some other items on the menu. read more
The hype is real. Highly recommend their matcha cloudo (half sweet, regular ice). Perfectly balanced drink with jasmine tea. I think the best way to drink it is without a straw so you get some salted cold foam with each sip. Also- love that they don't charge extra for oat milk! I can tell they put a lot of thought into developing the drink and menu. Not a big shop, no real seating inside except some spots to wait for your drink, so I recommend getting your drink and walking around ID. Will be back for their full menu. First off, the environment is super clean with really great energy. It has that kind of vibe where you actually want to sit, relax, and enjoy your drink instead of rushing out. Definitely a place you can see yourself coming back to regularly. The drinks are where they really shine. I highly recommend the Guava Lemonade (fixed ice). If you're someone who loves guava juice and lemon layered over jasmine iced tea, this will easily become one of your favorite drinks. It's refreshing, balanced, and just done right. Customer service was good, no complaints but if I'm being honest, it didn't quite match the level of the drinks and the ambiance. Nothing bad at all, just not as memorable as everything else. Finally checked out Le Gray Tea Co in Seattle and I get the hype I ordered their matcha drink and it was honestly so good, super smooth with a really light floral note that made it feel a little elevated compared to your usual matcha. Not too sweet, not bitter, just really well balanced. The space itself is cute and minimal, perfect for a quick stop or catching up with a friend. Only thing I wish? Pretty visuals inside with grey interior and cherry blossoms. Thankfully there was no line on the second day of their soft opening. I like how the matcha cloudo tasted strongly of jasmine tea. TLDR: Really aesthetic speciality new tea/boba spot in the ID. Came during their soft opening and really enjoyed it. Quite busy and can't wait to come back during their grand opening. Drinks: I got the matcha cloudo medium sweet (jasmine + matcha) and thought it was really good. While the main flavor was jasmine due to the cream, the matcha still came through and game some nuttiness and flavor. Service/Ambiance: While it was quite busy, the staff was really nice. New tea spot in International District- small spot with limited seating so it's pretty much for grab and go. I tried matcha cloudo and hojicha oolong which were recommended as the favorites. Matcha cloudo has matcha, jasmine tea and sea salt foam- soo good! I got it half sugar because they said it was on the sweet side which was perfect. Hojicha oolong was balanced as well and has a caffeine hit. I will be back to try the fruit smoothies! read more
Le Grey?! I am a big fan! I got their Mango Kinu which is their blended mango smoothie with ripe mangoes. I got it with signature sweetness and it was everything I want in a mango (coconut milk) smoothie! I didn't expect much considering it's not necessarily champagne mango season in March but it was perfectly sweet, creamy with what tasted like a coconut cream (correct me if I am wrong). Thankfully there wasn't a line on a Thursday afternoon, but the wait for the drinks did take 10-15 minutes or so. In terms of the interior vibe, it was modern, sleek, clean, and felt luxurious! I wish it was a bigger space so there is ample seating but otherwise, it's a nice place to get a drink. read more
