Bun Rieu - 3.5 stars. Tomato base was nostalgic for me. The tofu was nice and spongy/soft. Fri dinner 2024-12-20

No wait on a Friday night around 5:30pm for 7 of us. They had plenty of space for any group size. It cost $25 total including tax/tip for 1.5 large pho bowls. Service was fast and friendly * Bun Rieu - 3.5 stars. I couldn't taste the crab, and I've only had this dish a couple times, but the tomato base was nostalgic for me. The tofu was nice and spongy/soft.

This has been my Pho Ga spot after the Turtle Towers closed. Their version is as just good, notably the order with gizzards and livers. A large bowl should fill you up. I would go out of the way to have it here. The Deep Fried Wings were decent and should go well with rice. The Bun Rieu was decent though broth was on the sweet side. Bun Bo Hue I'm not sure would get it again. The Spring Rolls are also big but is full of lettuce and rice noodle as fillers. As a result, it's bland and the dipping sauce was just okay - could not saved it. Plenty of metered and residential street parking in this busy area as there are many eateries around.

5 spice chicken: Decent piece of chicken but is it really 5 spice. I swear they're just buying the seasoning for my past 2 dishes from hoi wah. Fish sauce was more of a sweet and sour sauce, you can see the redness of it. It was tender at least. Also cmon... half a slice of tomato. Fool me once shame on me fool me twice... ya know. Apparently the pho ga is good but I'm done. Catch me at pho recipe if anyone wants the best pho ga in the city

Good little spot. Have been coming here for 6 years. Chicken salad pretty good. Pho is good. Cash only.

Came in and got seated right away as a party of 4! The store had a good amount of seats inside and has decent flow of customers. Our party ordered Imperial Rolls as an appetizer and I ordered the Bun Bo Hue as my main dish. Imperial Rolls: 5/5 These came out fast and was super fresh. The skin was crispy which I loved! Bun Bo Hue: 5/5 The soup was piping hot when it came out. Came with a good amount of meat as seen in the picture. I can tell they did not skimp out on the meat/ingredients to cook the broth as it was so tasty! Service was friendly and very attentive! Would definitely come back again if I'm in the area.

Omg I was amazed at how good this chicken pho was! Place is like a typical older pho restaurant, but the food is great. Pho seems fresh and broth was perfect. Good service but it was definitely hard to find parking. We drove around for a good 20 minutes to find something :(

The Bun Bo Hue was GREAT. Though the vegetables on the side did not look fresh so I did not eat them.

Cash only! Pho #1 is apparently known for their Chicken Pho, so I ordered a small of that. No need for a large unless you are super hungry, but for some perspective, a small fed my 6'3" guy friend fine. The chicken pho was really delicious! The broth tasted clean, and the chicken was nicely shredded. The flat rice noodles tasted fresh, with a great chewy consistency. Perfect for a chilly day, recovering from a cold, or satisfying a need for some comfort food. I also ordered the 3 Color Drink. I think the ratio of toppings to drink was a little off for my liking. I ended up tossing half the drink because it was just the toppings in the end with no liquid. My friend got their mango slushy, and it tastes as if they blended the Costco mango nectar juice with some ice and sold it for $5. Both drinks were not worth getting in my opinion.

their bunrieu is exceptionally good here!!

This review is solely based on their bun rieu. I'm such a fanatic for this dish that I honestly have no interest trying anything else on their menu LOL. Since the pandemic, I've been satisfying my almost weekly cravings of bun rieu from this restaurant. This one surprisingly does not serve it with any pork cake, sadly :( (and porks blood) like most other places do BUT that's okay. The taste and authenticity makes up for it. I usually order a small/regular portion and it usually comes with enough noodle and soup to feed TWO people. Sometimes if I'm feeling fat and mighty, I end up eating the whole order to myself which ends up into a major food coma...definitely do not recommend doing that if you want to have a productive day hahahaha. As of right now, I don't believe the restaurant is open for dine in since the doorway is still being blocked from the last time I ordered from them which was this past week.

We had chicken salad and the usual stuff, the pho. The only bad thing about this location, street parking is very hard. The second time I had the food was by Uber Eats. I also ordered the salad. Unfortunately it didn't taste as good as I had the first time. But it came with a lot of peanuts.

They definitely try their best to keep the line moving and one of the main ways it seems is to highly encourage guests to look at the menu while they are waiting in line outside so as soon as they are seated they can place their order and then eat quickly so then they can vacate the seat for the next person. Because this is exactly what happened to us. Also they have written warnings and they do tell you that their policy is everybody must order their own entree there's no splitting. I wouldn't call the servers overly friendly ( we had to flag them down to order drinks after our food was served) but the food came out quickly and the orders were accurate and it tasted amazing. I have never seen MATCHA flavored Ramen anywhere else and since I'm a matcha girly, you know I had to try the Duck Matcha Ramen. When asked, the waitress was honest and said "people who like matcha, like it." Happily I am one of those people and I did like it! If you've got 45 minutes to an hour to kill chatting with your friends in line and don't mind slipping down your Ramen quickly in tight quarters then you should give this place a try.

We waited 50 minutes before it was our party of 4 got called in. There is a policy that everyone has to order at least 1 bowl of ramen. I thought that was interesting. This is a Chicken based broth ramen (Toripaitan) place. For family of 4 (2 teenage boys), we ordered $270 worth of food. 2 signature Toripaitan ramens, 1 signature Toripaitan Spicy ramen, 1 classic Toripaitan ramen, 1 Hokkaido uni and A5 Wagyu hand roll, 2 orders of 5 pieces A5 Wagyu sushi, 1 side order of A5 Wagyu slice XL, 1 corn ribs, 1 edamame, 1 vegan fried chicken made out of oyster mushroom, and 1 Matcha IPA. The ramen bowl itself is about $25/bowl. My signature Toripaitan spicy bowl soup surprisingly was not that hot. That's too bad. The thick noodles were hot though. Taste was decent. But the lukewarm broth ruined it for me. I like the side dishes better. Interesting ramen like the matcha duck and lamb cumin ramen might be with trying next time.

Literally a half a block from our hotel, Yelp showed us a 4.6 rated restaurant. Read some reviews and we were sold. We were both hungry (with my foodie son) and sat down for an early dinner. Saki was the first order of business, with an excellent recommendation from our service (sweetest person ever) Dry and not too sweet. So early we jumped right into the happy hour appetizers. The Brussels were dreamy, the chicken was pure perfection and the gyoza spectacular. Also dove into the octopus balls (not literally )and they were ridiculous. We also ordered the Niki Ramen that had us in "we can't stop eating, mode. The broth was incredible and the shaved pork just over the top! A free drink suddenly appeared at the table and we were eternally thankful. Finished with the custard and we both wept! Yes, THAT good! The service was impeccable, friendly, funny, attentive, sweet, etc. 5/5 service, just like the food. SO cute on the inside with only around 8 tables. We got there really early, like 5pm, but by 6 it was a packed house, and mostly locals. A bigs hats off and thumbs up to this little hole in the wall. Keep it Rockin!!!!!

Usually these types of places serve like $5-$8 each skewers that taste bland and not filling/ satisfying. but taniku know how to actually bring out flavor from skewers making it feel more worth it. My best friend and I came here on a whim and really glad we did. The drive up was a little sketchy but the place is a small little unassuming spot - cutesy. There was a line outside and a 10-15 min wait for us (because of how small the place one) but we didn't mind. Service was also a tiny bit odd / slow but I'm not type to care too much about that especially if it's busy and the food comes on reasonable time + food is good. Customers waiting in line outside seemed confused and out of loop kept asking me since I was in front of line if there was a line or waitlist/how long the wait was. Another odd thing is their menu. I saw reviews / pictures of food that wasn't on the paper menu they gave so it was confusing what they actually offered. We ordered the Niku ramen : change to rice bowl (really good portion sizing for japanese place) tasty flavoring. not too meaty taste. kimchi was random but worked well, cut the beef sweetness and savoriness. +Added $5 soft shell crab for topping. Very good. Typically fried soft shell crab. Crispy, crabby. Scallop hand roll: seaweed was a little soft for my liking. scallop quality was very yummy. loved the yuzu. Thought the spicy mayo + yuzu pairing was too much clashing flavors. Pork Belly Skewers: sooo good. Crispy outer. soft inner. Flavorful. Chicken meatball skewer: raw egg sauce helped put it all together enhancing and uplifting the chicken itself. Very yummy. not bland. all together like $60 (not w tip) which is really good for j izakaya. I need come for happy hour
