southeast asian approved! I got the house special noodles with mee pok (wide egg noodles) and added wontons (+$2) and it was so comforting! what's pictured is only half the serving (I saved half for another meal). the staff were friendly and efficient, and offered to cover my soymilk tightly when she noticed I was biking. the noodles came with plenty of ingredients, and a huge bowl of warm soup. the hot soymilk was sweetened and reminded me of home :") highly recommend for comforting and satisfying noodles!

It was raining so we stopped by for some comforting noodle soups. We got our usual, the #7 house special soup with thick egg noodles with add in thick rice noodles for $1.80 more and the #6 duck soup with thin egg noodle. This time my broth was not bland but slightly saltier this time. The staffs were great. Always friendly and the service is always speedy. Tea is also complimentary. We were offered Chinese donuts which I declined this time. I didn't even know they had that and they also have soy milk. Bowls range from $15-$17. Big portions, lots of noodles. They finally accept credit card payments.

I had high hopes for this place and it hit the mark for good noodle soup, but for the portion size and price it fell short. Soup noodles are around $16-20 for a bowl, and the soup bowl felt a bit shallow. Also the toppings in my soup were not as good as I was expecting. Just average. I'm not sure how busy it gets usually but when we went on a Sunday around 2pm it was quite empty. They took our order and the food came out within 5-10 minutes which was nice. Also this restaurant is located in the tenderloin. Parking can be a bit tricky.

Hai Ky thick egg noodle with wontons. My ultimate favorite spot in the tenderloin. Don't let neighborhood scares you. Quick and super friendly services. Best in San Francisco.

Absolutely delicious braised duck wonton egg noodle soup. Broth was flavorful, duck was tender, noodles were bouncy. I've been here multiple times and the quality is always great, service is always efficient. Great portion sizes too!

Hai Ky Noodles is seriously a hidden gem! I was feeling under the weather and craving a comforting bowl of soup, something similar to the style I used to get at TK Noodle in Daly City (RIP). That nostalgic combo of thin egg noodles, assorted meats, and wontons is surprisingly hard to find... until I came across Hai Ky on Postmates. I ordered the Hai Ky House Special, and it absolutely hit the spot. Just a heads-up if you're ordering delivery: it might look like a dry noodle dish on the app, but it does come with a generous serving of hot, flavorful broth. It's definitely a soup! The bowl was packed with protein (char siu, shrimp, meatballs, and more), and adding wontons made it even better. Everything was well-seasoned and super comforting! It was exactly what I needed. I'll 100% be ordering this again. Highly recommend if you're looking for a filling, delicious noodle soup that delivers on both flavor and nostalgia.

Yes, you should come to the tenderloin just to try this place. Noodles were super bouncy and light, and their soup healed me. My boyfriend's duck leg was also very tender, juicy, and sweet. But please also get the egg rolls. They make them fresh with lots of love and taro unlike many other places, and even inspired me to make my own at home!!

I will definitely be back to this place. It was the perfect rainy day lunch for an informal meetup. Highly recommend for cold or rainy days. I suspect I'll crave this now. I had the duck leg egg noodle soup with thick noodles and soup on the side, so I could add as much broth as I preferred. Pros: -Ample table space for lunch -Delicious, fresh soup bowls -Quick service -Friendly staff -Affordable and good value -Great condiment selection Cons: -Smoke billowed in from outside smokers -Did not refill water glasses or check on us

Hai Ky is my go-to spot for wonton noodle soups in the city, especially their combination wonton noodle soup (number 2)! The bowl is always packed with fresh ingredients, a savory broth, and delicious bouncy egg noodles. Everything is made in-house, and I feel lucky to live so close to the restaurant. The staff are always kind and even remember my brothers and I each time we come. They know my order well and have my bowl in front of me within minutes of sitting down. Place doesn't look busy on the outside, but can get packed during the day, especially closer to their 6pm closing time. They take both cash and card. Their hot soy milk is also a good treat and the fresh rolls are made well too. Only thing that can be bothersome is the neighborhood outside. It can feel a bit rough with people lingering around, but if you keep to yourself, then they leave you alone.

I've been coming to Hai Ky for years, and in a city where food trends come and go, this Tenderloin staple remains absolutely rock solid. It is rare for a place to maintain this level of consistency over the decades, but they still nail it every single time.

First time here and it was fine! I really miss this "old" restaurant type of feel. Most restaurants nowadays are all modern. Went here on a Sunday for lunch and it was busy! My friend ordered the #4 and I ordered the #2. It was good. I also got the soymilk with ice and that was okay. Once you're done eating, you go up to the cashier to pay. Street parking and 2 restrooms.

    Hu Tieu Bo Kho
    Steven T.

My friends and I came here feeling a little hungover, and this place was perfect hangover food. I got the hủ tiếu bò kho. It's not your traditional bò kho, this one leans on the sweeter side, which threw me off at first, but I ended up enjoying it. I'm more used to the classic bò kho with that rich, savory beef stew flavor, fragrant spices like star anise and lemongrass, and a little bit of heat. This version is different, but still tasty in its own way. Definitely a satisfying spot for a cozy, comforting meal.

It didn't have a ton of flavor, but the texture was good. You can watch the chefs working right behind the counter, which is kind of cool. The whole meal came out to a little over 40 dollars after tax, so expect to pay a bit more for the experience. Overall, it's a cool spot to get fresh clean soba and it's close to Super Mira.

I was in SF one afternoon and decided to kill an hour by waiting in their line. I showed up at 3.10 PM and there was no line, I stood anyway and later the line built up behind me. Place is not the safest, I saw some folks trying to open the parked cars on that street hoping to find one that was unlocked . Not all folks who made it before their 4 PM opening managed to get a table in the first round. The place only seats around 20 people or so and they have a mandatory requirement that each person has to order a bowl of ramen. We got the following *enoki chips: 3/5: salty, limp, greasy to the point of floating in a pool of oil. *vegan tantanmen-2.5/5- disappointed by this one. Had better vegan ramen at several other establishments. The version here has two dominant flavors- extremely smoky and bitter. The kale didn't help as well. The enoki chashu was interesting though, had the texture of meat. *classic toripaitan-4.5/5- this was good and I can see why it got the awards. Had a rich and deep taste of chicken. All the elements helped elevate the bowl. *spicy lamb miso cumin-4/5- the flavors of cumin and lamb just shone through here. If you enjoy the flavor of lamb get this. The fried eggplant was epic in this dish. Overall, not worth the wait, the vegan ramen can be avoided unless you are a vegan. Get the classic toripaitan as that was the best.

They allegedly have a few limited reservation slots but a majority of their service is first come first serve. You stand in line and wait. I would not recommend coming in large groups. In fact, I'd go as far as to say groups larger than 4 are basically contraindicated. The space inside is quite tight, think narrow, barstool-height seating and tiny tables. When my friend and I were seated after about a 40 min wait, we had spent so much time perusing the menu that we basically knew what we were going to get. Service was really kind and quick. My thoughts on the food below: Kabocha croquet: these were freshly fried and served PIPING hot. The perfectly crisp exterior and soft, non mushy interior were just the perfect textures contrasted against each other. The sweetness of the pumpkin meant that the vinegar heavy house dipping sauce was a requirement not a suggestion. The side salad also provided some freshness with each bite, not that the croquets were too greasy at all! They were well drained so just the crunch remained without the oil. Tori Tsukune: these Japanese chicken meatball skewers were HUGE and DELICIOUS. Perfectly grilled with a charred taste, relentlessly tender inside. Dipped in the accompanying soy sauce and egg yolk mixture it was simply heavenly. The yolk added a mild richness to each bite. Hotate carpaccio: this was the most unique take on scallops I've had in a while. The flavors seem strange at first glance (and first taste, if I'm being totally honest), but it took no more than two chews for me to change my tune. First off, the scallops are plump, crisply sweet, and buttery soft in the way that high quality scallops are. Next, the onion and yuzu provide a sharp yet floral aroma to each bite. The floral taste was initially jarring but became addictive. The drizzle of cream sauce on top tempered the sharpness and gave the dish a smooth finish. Truly a memorable scallop dish!! Midori udon: a scallop and pesto stir fry udon dish. This was unexpected combo when I read the menu, but it was so good! The briny and sweet little scallops were cooked to a perfect tender texture and they paired well with the mild, herbaceous pesto. The udon provided the perfect slurp. While I'm more of a soup noodle girl myself, this was an addictive and unique Japanese-Italian fusion! Niku Ramen: Taniku has a lot of inventive ramen offerings but the niku ramen stood out to me. I've had and enjoyed niku udon before, though I usually find the broth to be too sweet. This dish took all the best parts of niku udon - the mountains of tender, marinated beef, the soft boiled egg, the tender onions - and put them into a richer, heartier broth with thin ramen noodles and the outcome was fantastic. One of the most memorable bowls of ramen I've had in a while. The broth was seriously delicious. I'm such a big soup person so I keep coming back to that. It wasn't too sweet or too salty in the way that a lot of noodle soup broths are, but still managed to impart a ton of flavor. The meaty, fishy flavor was so drinkable. For the quality and quantity of food vs the price you pay, I was incredibly impressed by Taniku Izakaya!!!! Just banger after banger after banger. I saw that they have some good happy hour deals as well so I will definitely be coming back for more of their delightful apps and skewers. I cannot recommend this spot enough, there's a reason people queue for it.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. Anyways, they said they could swap out any of the soy soups for salt (but soy can encompass a lot of things so I still wasn't feeling super confident but we're going to give it a go). We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. And my dish came out, they told me there was no egg as its marinated in soy - perfect to me. I'm glad that was caught as not every establishments can account for everything. - Now I have a spot to (more safely) eat ramen! - I advise that if you do have an food allergy, do talk to the staff, and address your concerns such as cross contamination etc. I had a great experience, but I do find that because its not so regulated or understood and there is lack of education amongst the food/resturant industry - you always need to advocate for yourself and there is always a risk. I'm very apperciative of the staff here.

The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me.
