Against all odds...the bad feng shui (T-intersection), the pandemic, and all neighboring Chinese restos closing, changing ownership, and/or "rebranding" over the years, Ling Ling is still here. Ling Ling has been around since I was in grade school and they're still thriving. TBH, I never cared to visit until my old HS classmate suggested it for fast, cheap, and delicious Canto food. They're one of the few Chinese restos that still offer your choice of three entrees (w/ free rice) for a set price. The menu states: $42.98 but we were charged $46.98 (tax?). They also have a specials listed on the wall in Chinese. Not on any delivery apps. CC's accepted. This is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever had. We ordered to go and they gave us wrong order. We went back to the restaurant and kindly asked to give us the correct food. The serving staff insisted it was the right ones: we ordered shrimp with scrambled eggs over rice but they gave us egg flower soup and rice!! Please do not go there. Had a busy day at work today and was craving Mongolian Beef, but didn't want to go too far for it, and I know my old spot Wing Hing is no longer around, so I went with my second option around San Bruno, which is Ling Ling. Gave them a quick call, ordered it to go, and when I got there about 8-10 minutes later, my order was already ready. Even though the place was pretty busy as it was prime lunch time, I was able to get my food and get in and out with ease! There's an old saying that 'good things come in small packages' and that proves true about this small restaurant. This place has been here for a long time and in a dog eat dog world of competitive Chinese eateries in a town like San Francisco, then you just might actually "wok the talk." Sorry for my puns. :-) I've gone to this place many a times, especially the years before the pandemic when I lived in the Bayshore area, but I've moved away since. In coming back to eat here again, I'm reminded how much I like this place, particularly for its reliably good food, reasonable prices and quick service. No wait at 11am on a Friday. Ling Ling serves basic Chinese dishes like fried rice and chow mein. Since we had breakfast earlier, we only ordered wonton soup $12 and a BBQ pork wonton noodles $15. The soup was ok kind of blend, lots of egg noodles and veg. There were 6 small wontons which I can make better than LL, and I am not a good cook. Was on the hunt for some pan-fried egg noodles for a special occasion. This spot fit the bill and then we decided to hit up their 3-course menu for $33 to round out the dinner. Our 3-item order: sweet/sour pork, salted fish/chicken/tofu clay pot, and sizzling platter fish with satay sauce. Came with rice so it was a fairly complete meal. Sweet sour pork: more yellow-orange sauce (versus reddish). Typical that it was accompanied by bell peppers, onions, and pineapple. It was fried to a nice crisp and there was actually meaty pieces (versus some places that are just fat or skin). Overall a solid dish. Salted fish/chicken/tofu clay pot: nice pieces of chicken and tofu, which was a pleasant mouthful. I didn't notice the salted fish, but it had the definite flavour present (but not overpowering). Hard to screw this up, but others have done it. This spot definitely did it well. Fish w/satay sauce: ok, so we got takeaway, so there was no sizzling platter. Fish (whitefish) was good-sized pieces and tender and flaky. Zucchini and onions also made it into the stir fry. The sauce was flavourful and maybe mildly spicy, but not appreciably so. I think this isn't a bad dish, but there's so many other things to try. Pan fried egg noodles: taste was ok. It wasn't really memorable except to say that it was there. I think there was some mushrooms in it, but thankfully it was only needed to fulfill tradition. Overall the food came out fast and it was tasty. Hard to complain about 3/$33, especially since it was actually pretty good. We'll definitely go back for more dishes to try. read more

I've been here about 30 times, and I still look forward to future meals here :) THE GOOD: - No item I've tried on their extensive menu has tasted too oily/salty/full of MSG. This is rare. I've eaten Chinese places around South Bay that charge twice as much as Ling Ling, but are half the quality and full of double the unhealthy crap. - Price & Portion size - Your dollars go a long way here. I believe their lunch menu comes with rice and soup for 6.95 before tax! Yay! Dinner prices are fair too at an $8 average/dish - Try their 'steamed dumplings' / xiao long bao ($6.50), Chow fun/mein ($8.50) clay pot dishes ($7-12)!! I'm always in awe at the portion sizes, how good it tastes, and how much meat/ veggies they give you in each dish. THE MEH: - There is minimal street parking around, so you'll have to find residential parking around the ave if you want food around noon and dinner time - This isn't their fault, but they only have about eight 2-4 people tables, and 2 large group/ party tables.
