Pho#1's beef broth (#4 steak with lean briskets) was delicious. The anise was not overpowering. I normally get chicken because some pho have overpowering flavor. But this place got their broth just right. Their portions was also good and the noodle was al dente which I love because the noodles were not smooshy. I also like the fact that they have a good chili paste sauce. The place was clean and the restroom smelled great. Thank you for keeping the place neat and tidy for the customers. This was my first time in Sunnyvale neighborhood and I am glad I went to this place. So far Pho#1 is truly number one for me in Sunnyvale. My partner and I came for dinner on a hot day; it was not busy at all! We had the whole restaurant to ourselves and while we got our food, people were trickling in. Sore throat and wanted soup, so we decided to get pho! We were happy that it was a normal bowl of pho that satisfied our soup craving. The spring roll was ok. This review is for the Pho I found the broth to be abnormally sweet which threw it off . For the noodles they threw me the noodles used for bun I guess maybe cuz they was closing . Anyways only ended up eating the meat and left everything else . Stick to the rice plates skip the pho here . The parking is abundant in a strip mall although the inside decor reminds me of a fast food sit down . What I was served indeed reminded me of fast food pho which was no bueno. Have been ordering from here since 2019 (over 5 years now). It used to be without a doubt our favorite pho place in town due to their incredibly flavorful broth. We still love the broth, but there has been a marked decline in the quality of their meats in recent years. I suggest the owners try another local pho place such as Pho Lovers or PhoEver so they can see how far they've fallen in that regard. I still think their broth is one of the best I've ever had, but we order from here significantly less these days due to the mentioned issue. Ambiance of the place is pretty chill. This place has always been my "to go" place for Vietnamese takeout. They provided good portion of food at resonable price. I recently placed the order and noticed the price went up quite a bit (understandable as the food/labor cost increased) and the portion went down as well. I don't have an issue spending a little extra than before but once I found a thread with a long hair in my Vermicelli, it completely disgust me (is it from hair net or...? see attached picture) With this being said, I don't think I will be going back to place the order anymore. Togo Review for their Spring Rolls Only** Ordered 2 spring roll orders to-go: Our order was ready quickly after ordering. There was some confusion because I asked for one of the orders without bean sprouts. We went in to pay and the restaurant was clean with plastic dividers separating all the tables. At checkout, they charged me $0.50 per item because it was to-go. They didn't tell me this over the phone and I didn't know about this charge initially, but I paid it anyway. They included utensils and a couple napkins and a large sauce container of peanut sauce. In comparison with another Pho restaurant in the area, the spring rolls are small and expensive for what you get. There were barely any bean sprouts for the order that I asked for with bean sprouts and only 1 shrimp per roll. I have been to other places where there are 3 shrimp pieces per roll and are much bigger. Please see the picture with a quarter for size reference. Unfortunately, this place was a miss for me for the spring rolls. The value is not there. Maybe the pho is better? read more

The last time I ordered from here via a corporate order (I ordered fried rice), the portions were really small which was disappointing given the increased price. I get they have to pay the delivery company, but it's very disappointing if there's so little food that you're still hungry after you eat. I'm not sure how the other dishes were, but my fried rice dish filled maybe half the container. Also, while previous orders were fine, my last order of chicken fried rice was quite dry, almost like it was over cooked or sitting under a heat lamp for too long. I will be ordering from here one more time, and I really hope they can deliver. I love supporting local businesses (and we've been going here for years), and I really hope they don't shoot themselves in the foot trying to cheap out on corporate orders. read more

It was my first time here at this pho location and I have to say it did not disappoint. My cousin ordered a combo rice plate and I ordered the thin beef pho. We also got an appetizer of the fried tofu. For the combo rice plate, everything was really good. The rice was actually kind of soggy. It should be a little bit more firm to go with the fish sauce. The pho broth was actually really decent and pure. The beef sliced could have been a little bit more thinner just because it was kind of chewy. The fried tofu was on the spot. It could have been fried a little bit longer to get more of a crunchy on the surface and soft in the inside, but it was really good, especially with the sweet-and-sour dip. The ambience was nice. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't as busy as we thought it would be. Every table was close by a clear divider, making it very private, yet open for waiter/waitress to bring your food. Rude lady, I think she is the owner or manager. Just go to San Jose if you want better choices of Viet food, there are a-lot of choices. If you are having a bad day just take a break or an off. I got a Chinese barbecue pork and a ham and pork roll to take back to the hotel, along with a bag of roasted candied garlic and chile peanuts. I still enjoyed the crispy green papaya and fresh basil, I just wish the sauce was the same as before. The Pad Thai was not for me. While the portion was huge, it didn't have the flavor and authenticity I was expecting. I wouldn't order it again and gave it away since I didn't plan on eating more. The vegan fried rolls were good and they arrived crispy, but I wouldn't get them again because the inside had something sweet, and I didn't like the sauce. I'll still order from here because I like most dishes I've tried, but there are definitely some items I ordered today that I won't be getting again.

Checked out Pho #1 in Sunnyvale earlier this week with the coworkers, and here's the lowdown. First off, location-wise, it's a breeze - nestled in a shopping center with plenty of parking, always a plus. We hit it up for lunch, and it was surprisingly half full during the mid-week lunch hour, so you know it's got some local love. We kicked things off with the A1 Egg Rolls and A4 Fried Wonton for the table. Decent start, nothing to write home about, but hey, it set the mood. Now, onto the main event - the Pho #1 Beef Pho Combo. I went sans Tendon because, well, the menu warned about short cow's hair, and I'm still wrapping my head around that one. To wash it all down, I intended to get the Thai Tea but ended up ordering the Vietnamese Iced Coffee by accident. Panic mode set in, but oh boy, it turned out to be a dark, strong delight. Sooooo good! My coworkers ventured into other corners of the menu, but alas, no taste tests for me. Overall verdict? Pho #1 is pretty decent, but it's not doing the siren call to bring me back anytime soon. It scratches the Vietnamese food itch in Sunnyvale, but the "wow" factor is a bit MIA for me. read more

Today I went to pho #1. But was it really #1? Here's the breakdown: I got a large beef pho with tendon and rare steak. Broth: 8/10. Definitely Americanized but hearty and delicious Noodles: 7/10 too thin for my liking but quantity a++ Meat: 7/10 lots of tendon but there could be more rare steak. Overall generous Bean sprouts: 6/10 left me wanting much much more Basil/lime/pepper: 10/10 fresh Atmosphere: 8/10 quiet but bustling. It looks like they recently renovated. Lots of bright colors. Staff: 10/10 attentive and friendly Cleanliness: 8/10 it looks fresh and they clean the tables quickly. Knocking it down 1 point because I spy a fly on my table right now. my family love this place so much. We usually hang out every two week to celebrate the gathering time. The service is fast, friendly and caring for customers even the rushing time. We love the fresh, natural sweet of beef broth as well as the bunch of meet in Pho combination 1. Besides, the appetizers with fried tofu is my highly recommended with crunchy outside but soft inside. You can not skip the grilled chicken fresh spring roll with the grilled marinated chicken used with the peanut sauce. I went with 3 small kiddos:5,3,1. I would said the rest is family friendly. The space between tables has good space to breath. I would said the waitress is supper nice. My kid splashed water on the table and floor; she was happy clean it and told me it is okay. Accident is happened. I would said her attitudes is supper. Let talk about food. My husband and I tried out their Pho #1 bowl and special vermicelli bowl. First their broth of Pho is great. It is fresh and rich. I bet they cook a lot of bone to get the rich broth like that. My husband tried their vermicelli bowl with shrimps, grill pork and egg roll. It is awesome. The presentation is nice and it tastes good also. I would recommend the place. I don't believe in bougie noodle soup. And if I had to fight for parking again today, there was going to be a problem. Pho Nam in Sunnyvale, just a stone's throw from some of the most valuable tech companies on the planet, sits in an old, beat-up strip mall with a 7-Eleven, a liquor store, and a seedy sports bar. Inside, it looks like a pho restaurant preserved from another era: green vinyl chairs, fluorescent lights, patterned tile floors, floral plates, and a glowing neon NAM sign behind the counter. Pure utilitarian noodle shop. Nothing designed for Instagram. I ordered the cha gio and a small rare beef pho. The beef came thinly sliced on a separate plate so I could add it to the steaming broth myself. The egg rolls were crisp and generously packed with glass noodles, dried mushrooms, and carrots, giving the filling a pleasant sweetness.
