This place really surprised me with how delicious it was! I was skeptical when my friend chose a vegetarian place for her birthday dinner, but she said she had been before and the food is really good. I am one of those people who thinks that just about every meal needs animal protein or it won't be satisfying. Well, Happy Flower proved me wrong because I came away with a very happy and full stomach and I did not even miss the meat! We ordered 8 different dishes to share family style, and I was especially pleased with the all seasons sampler and vegan fried rolls appetizers, as well as the pad Thai, salted fish fried rice, hainan chicken rice, tomato fish, and happy clay pot entrees. Each dish was quite large such that all 9 of us were able to try generous portions of each dish. And then we got two servings of the mango sticky rice to share and the mango was amazingly sweet! I did not try their boba drinks, but a few of my friends ordered drinks and enjoyed them. Their boba drinks are sized quite large as well. I will say, the meat doesn't necessarily taste like the meat it purports to imitate, but the textures for the fake chicken and fish are pretty spot on! Service was friendly and helpful and they delivered the dishes at a good pace. The inside isn't fancy, but it's clean and well lit and spacious. I decided to try them out when seeking a vegetarian-friendly restaurant in the area. Crispy tofu: I asked for no peanut sauce. Crispy, and there is salt and black pepper in it, but overall it doesn't have much flavor outside of the sauce. Lemongrass fish lunch plate modified to have soy beef (you can switch out the protein): The broccoli itself itself was just steamed with no flavoring, so that was underwhelming. But the lemongrass beef is pretty good, firm and chewy not spicy. One of the others in my party got the eastern duck soup, which has a stronger soup flavor, you can taste the anise. It also has shiitake mushrooms. It came with veggie drumsticks, on an actual stick, but just takes like soy protein, doesn't really taste like duck. I tried a bit of Cali pho too, which was mild but pleasant, it has a ton of vegetables. Overall I'd give it more of a 3.5/5, there were certainly some items that could've used better seasoning/flavoring, but I do appreciate the amount of options that are suitable for vegetarians and actually being able to enjoy noodle soups that would usually have been meat-based. I wanted to order before they go on break. I placed a pickup order for Pad Thai, Fried Rolls, Papaya Salad, and Lemongrass Beef. The Lemongrass Beef was my favorite dish! It was super flavorful, perfectly spiced, and the "beef" texture was on point. I always order the Papaya Salad and typically love it, but today's sauce was a bit sweeter than usual. I still enjoyed the crispy green papaya and fresh basil, I just wish the sauce was the same as before. The Pad Thai was not for me. While the portion was huge, it didn't have the flavor and authenticity I was expecting. I wouldn't order it again and gave it away since I didn't plan on eating more. This place is down the street from my office and a little off the beaten path but would highly recommend this place. Start off with the staff is suuuuuper friendly and helpful. I feel like this goes a long way in the food industry and they crushed that aspect. Great decorations and few inside as well. They had updated some of their wall decorations to incorporate a mural of cherry blossoms & fake blooms which is super cute! I feel happy just walking into this restaurant! I've ordered either the All Seasons Sampler (of rolls) or the Autumn Rolls, depending on the number of people in my party. Also always a hit is the Crispy Tofu. It's lightly fried, super crispy and never heavy or greasy feeling. My non-vegan friend ordered the chow mein and was blown away by the freshness of the veggies and the aromatic shitake mushrooms used. The noodles were lightly fried to a crisp and not super greasy. Not sure how they fry their foods and not have them turn out heavy and oily but this place does it right! Today, I went with the combo vermicelli bowl. This can be found at most pho and Vietnamese restauratns but what I particularly love about how Happy Flower creates theirs is that it includes shaved taro and fried shallots. It makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the overall flavor. Be sure to ask for their off-menu beverages. It's not always posted but Happy Flower offers an Ube Crema coffee which is AMAZING! If you love ube and coffee, this is its lovechild. You will be very happy you ordrered this! Portions were great for every dish and the flavors were all there. This came with two each of the spring, summer, autumn, winter rolls as well as four fried egg rolls and three different sauces. Most of the rolls were fine, but my favorite was the autumn (I think! What a great find! We used to go to a vegan Vietnamese spot in Milpitas a few years back and we thought it was wonderful. So it was a pleasant surprise to find this gem near the same area. I came here for an early dinner since it's lent and I can't eat meat. I came here around 5:11 and got seated right away. The food came out in 10 minutes and everything was great. The spring rolls made with soy protein along with the peanut sauce was full of flavor. It was my first time having soy protein so I wasn't sure what to expect. My main entree was their Bamboo Duck Noodle Soup. Now this blew me away because their soy duck was so flavorful. It had the flavor of Peking Duck without the actual meat being duck. 10/10 I look forward to coming back for my next lent meal. Came here with friends because I specifically wanted to go to a vegan/vegetarian place. It was a hot day, and I don't think there's functional AC inside this spot, but it luckily wasn't TERRIBLY hot. The food was definitely piping hot, though! Partner and I got a vegan curry with roti (4 different carb options!!) and Malaysian noodles. Both were packed with veggies. The vegan curry was essentially a very good panang curry with tofu and vegetables, and they provided a good amount of roti on the side. The Malaysian noodles were kind of bland at first, but when I ate the leftovers later on in the day, I noticed the flavors had actually developed more. Noodle texture was good! We also got some summer rolls and fried squid to share. The fried squid hit the mark in terms of taste, and I enjoyed that the "meat" inside was soft, since you know, it's not actual squid. I'd skip the summer rolls next time though. I can't say anything about the boba because I didn't order it, but my friends said they liked it. Portion sizes were great, and so was the service. Picked up an online order here, and really loved it. I'm not vegan, but my friend is and she picked the place. I was very impressed with the flavor and texture of the "beef," which I think was made of rehydrated soy curls. Stopped in with my husband on our way back from an appointment and Happy Flower did not disappoint! I had it bookmarked as a place I wanted to try since it's all vegetarian/vegan (and I'm a vegetarian with an egg allergy). I had the pho with Beyond Beef, and it was delicious! I might see if I can get extra mushrooms added next time (because I am a big time mushroom lover, and they had king oyster mushrooms which are one of my favorites), but the broth was wonderfully flavorful and it comes with the thicker rice noodles that I prefer to vermicelli. They give you jalapenos on the side of you want to make it a little spicy, too! My husband had the Saigon Sandwich, which is essentially a banh mi, with the eggplant and tofu, and he really liked it (and it looked really good, too, but he wouldn't let me steal a bite, LOL). We also got a jasmine milk tea with boba, which was good and not overly sweet, but the boba are definitely much more soft than I like (I prefer more QQ chew), so I might opt for like jelly or a different topping next time. The location itself is small and cute, with a lovely wooden carved wall by the entrance, and inexplicably a few random Christmas decorations even though it's August. The workers are friendly but pretty quiet, and even though they take your order at your table and bring the food to you, you go up to the register to pay when you're done. There seems to be a QR code menu at each of the tables, and maybe you can order from there, but I didn't try it since I prefer looking at the physical menu. The music was pleasant and not overly loud, and incidentally piano renditions of Ghibli movies music, which we recognized once we sat down as the very piece my husband (aka. Mr. Piano) is learning right now, "Town with a View of the Sea" from Kiki's Delivery Service, so that was a lovely little coincidence :) A lot of things on the menu looked really good, so we will definitely be back!
