They have seating inside and outside, we chose to sit inside. Surprisingly not too many diners on this weeknight. We ordered the chicken pad see ew, lemongrass chicken, and mango sticky rice. They have a pretty big menu. My partner usually is okay about Thai food but not his favorite, but he really enjoyed his meal here! I loved the flavors of each dish and everything was perfectly seasoned. Nothing was too sweet or too salty, it was just right. I'm surprised this place has a relatively low rating considering the experience and (siam) taste we got! We visited on a Monday evening around 6 pm, one of the few restaurants that were open on Murphy ave on a Monday. Generally pretty good ambiance, as we sat outside and not very many people were around. I saw (on Gemini) that they had a soy satay, which I've never had before and found to be pretty unique! I'm glad I asked because there was no indication on the menu - or maybe I missed it because I remember that I thought it was another Gemini hallucination. The peanut sauce it came with was very delicious and I found the satay to be very filling. Texture was similar to chicken satay according to my dinner friend who eats meat. We also got the Thai basil fried rice with tofu and spring rolls. The fried spring rolls were pretty par for the course, and came with a nice spring roll sauce. The basil fried rice looked to be very saucy but I actually found the flavor profile itself to be a bit lacking even though the rice looked like it was *glistening*. It was definitely on the spicy side (and we asked for medium spice) so if you really want a kick, you could go even spicier! read more

Wow, I was surprised to see the low rating for this restaurant that has clearly stood the test of time. We dropped in a couple of weeks ago for Saturday lunch and had a pretty good meal. The service was quick and the outdoor seating was comfortable. We were with another family who ordered only vegetarian dishes, and they were happy too. We tried the Veggie appetizer platter, the Roti Prata, the Crab Fried Rice, and the Pad Kee Mao. The roti prata was a minor disappointment since it tasted more like the frozen kind than something made fresh, but everything else was tasty and served hot. The crab fried rice was excellent. There are plenty of good Thai places in the South Bay now, but if you are in the historic Sunnyvale downtown area, this one is worth a shot. read more

I was in the mood for Thai food, so I looked for a spot that wasn't too crowded in the afternoon and decided to give this place a try. Since the weather was nice, a lot of people were enjoying their meals on the patio. The menu had not only traditional Thai dishes but also some fusion options. Depending on the dish, you could choose the spice level and type of protein, which I thought was great. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. Had a good lunch at Siam Taste the other day. I don't recall if there was a lunch special menu but the two of us ended up getting three dishes ala carte. Spring rolls with shrimp as appetizers. Man these were plump and big! Comes with six pieces and dipping sauce. Pretty good, especially if you like fresh mint leaves flavor. Next dish was Penang curry I believe. Or some kind of curry anyway. Tasty sauce but could have used a bit more chicken. Also a little thick for me. And it wasn't served hot enough (temperature, not spice). Final dish was broccoli and beef. This was a unique one for me as I'm used to the Chinese version and this definitely had a different type of sauce/flavor. Again very thick sauce and was kind of lukewarm temperature. The service was good. The place was old but clean. Pleasant. They service food on nice dishware. My SO and I stopped by Siam Taste for lunch during the week while running errands. Service There was only one person taking care of the place as they weren't too busy for lunch. The portions were generous, which allowed me to take my noodle soup home as leftovers. We came here for dinner on a Thursday night. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived at 7pm, but the environment seemed nice and clean, and we got good service since we were literally the only table getting served by the restaurant. This restaurant had good options of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, and the spice level was on a scale from 1 to 7. We ordered a plate of fried rice and pad kee mao to share and the portion size was pretty reasonable for the price. I really wanted to try the spicier levels at 5+, but my friends wanted to enjoy their food and so chose a spice level of 3. However, even at a spice level of 3, the food was actually spicy. In $55 (before tip) we got: - Pad thai noodles with chicken - 5/5 yummy and fresh noodles and a huge portion size to serve 2 as lunch :) this was for $17 before tax - veggie house curry - 5/5 (no meat option is available to add in this one) too good loved the taste and im glad thay they generously provided a lot of vegetables in the yummy red spicy curry. The portion size was more than the regular 16 oz box but it was not 32 oz either. I feel it was more like 22 oz and costed $20 (a lil pricy for veg item) - penang curry with chicken - 2/5- skip this one. The chicken was dry in it and the only other thing i saw was a lot of green bell pepper. So plz skip this item and try something else.this was 16 oz for $17. All of these items did not come with rice (even after being so expensive). So u need to order rice separately or be smart like me and make your own rice while your order is on the way. The heat levels range from 0-5 and i tried level 3 and 4. I feel if u like spicy then start with level 3 coz that was more flavorful than level 4. I feel level 4 was all chilli (hot and spicy) and it over powered on other flavors. They have varying degrees of spicy, and I don't remember what I ordered, cuz I was probably 12 beers deep by the time we remembered that one cannot simply survive on beer and sometimes ya gotta stuff your face with food. Which, by the way, since we're on the subject, is total BS. "Intelligent Design" my butt! I think we need to go back to the drawing boards with this "God" people seem to think so highly of. I love spice, but my family members who can't handle spice know that they could order pad see ew anywhere and it'll be a safe option - even in Thailand! But not at Siam Taste. Both the pad see ew and pad thai came with pepper flakes scattered all over, and were too spicy. The online takeout order form doesn't give spice level options on those dishes, either. Walking in I can tell it's an authentic Thai restaurant as there have so many variety in their menu. Plus they have the old menu book that is old and tattered. That's how you know the food is going to be legit. They have inside seating and outside seating. The ambiance inside was very calm and peaceful. The vibe outside was festive. So if you want a quiet dining you can dine inside but want a festive vibe you can dine outside. The service is excellent. I just wish the spice was more evenly spread on the noodles, as it was not spicy at all for most of my bites, when suddenly the bites I had from the left center was incredibly spicy. The portions are big. The Thai tea was just okay. The egg rolls were good, but was in the fryer a bit too long. It's a simple small Thai restaurant in the middle of downtown Sunnyvale. I'm glad we tried this place because I had a good Pad Thai experience! Pad Thai is my go to dish whenever I crave Thai food. It is actually good because I get to try different takes on one dish. I must say this is one of the good ones I've tried. The noodles is cooked nicely, the flavor is done well. I am biased to mild sour taste in food and this one has a nice hint of sour. There's also a good ratio of meat, toppings and noodles in one serving. IMHO Going out to eat was a spur-of-the-moment decision and we ended up at restaurant row on S. Murphy Ave. There are many good dining choices but the mouth-watering pictures of their entrees taped on their windows sealed the deal for Siam Taste. Currently there is only outdoor seating available which we preferred anyway! The outdoor ambience of perfect weather and people-watching was quite enjoyable. There are taped instructions on the tables on how to access the menus via a QR code, plus other drink and appetizer suggestions. There is a minimum $12 per customer. Easy peasy. Our table of four ordered roti, mussamum curry, rock cod, pad thai, and sweet and sour chicken, and two bowls of white rice. EVERYTHING was super delicious and flavorful. I have a tendency to order the same things whenever I go to a Thai restaurant. It's usually Panang Curry (I know I'm not the only one!), Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodles, Pineapple Fried Rice or some sort of Tom Yum or Tom Kah dish. The menu here though, is HUGE. There are all kinds of various dishes here which make it difficult to decide if someone wanted to branch out a bit. After browsing a bit my eyes were drawn immediately to the "Chef's special soft shell crab with red curry" dish. I have seen crab listed in Thai dishes before, but never soft shell crab. Visiting Santa Clara for a work trip, it's not everyday I visit this area, and, as I'm a sucker for soft shell crab, and given that I had never seen it anywhere else, I knew I had to order it. I was not disappointed. It was SO GOOD. It was a little spicier than I normally can handle, but given the red curry flavor in addition to the textures of the perfectly cooked green beans and carrots and the subtle flavor soft shell crab coming through, I was thrilled I had decided to order the soft shell crab over any of my more standard choices. The dish had an entire soft shell crab, making the $19.99 price very much a great deal to say the least. I'm very much a textural person, and it was perfect with the soft shell crab being breaded but mixed in with a thick red curry and the crunchiness of the green beans. Ordered Thai iced tea on top of it, and I don't agree with the other review that says it was watered down. Tasted great to me. My coworkers were also pleased with their orders of panang curry with sizzling chicken, and broccoli stir fry with oyster sauce. The latter reminded me of a Chinese dish, and was quite good. Everything hit the spot. I thought the service was quite good, and I will have to say if I'm ever back in the area, it might be hard for me NOT to come back here and order that soft shell crab again. One random comment: Verizon cell data service was non existent here, and I couldn't get the free wi-fi to work. read more
