No fancy castle or horse-drawn carriage here, but I like how casual the inside of the restaurant is. The Princess and the Pea walked so we could run because there are a handful of comfortable seating arrangements. The interior leans more modern while still paying homage to traditional Vietnamese decor. Pho is great and all, but the Three Little Bears have found a new dish that's neither too hot nor too cold -- Bo Ne. Bo Ne is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, and it's hard to find places that serve it. Even fewer places do it just right, making me feel like Goldilocks. I love the banh mi that comes with the Bo Ne because it has a thin, crunchy, flaky crust with a fluffy, soft inside that absorbs the sauce perfectly. The steak was tender and paired perfectly with the pâté, giving you that satisfying flavor that constantly has you reaching for more. Once you place your order, the food comes out super fast. No Big Bad Wolf here to blow your wallet down because the prices are affordable and the portions are large. Huff and puff as hard as you can, but this place is here to stay. Rare Filet Mignon Steak, Well Done Flank Noodle Soup ($15.95). I noticed right away that the soup is a bit sweeter than other pho I've had. The soup flavor was good, I think it is sweet from Star anise and cinnamon possibly. Plenty of tender meat too for all the scrumptious bites. The noodles had great chew too which I prefer. Decided to check out Pho Lovers in Dublin to try their Banh Mi Chao and was curious to see how a Tri-Valley Vietnamese spot would measure up. We both ordered the Banh Mi Chao, one with caramelized pork and one with beef ribs. The dishes were pretty good overall. However, I did find them to be a little on the oily side. As expected for the area, the prices were definitely higher than what you would find for a similar dish in San Jose, but for Dublin, it's a solid option. You can choose rice or a baguette. Soup is too oily for my pallette. Banh mi bo lac: 3/5 banh mi was mid and could have had more pate and butter. Meat was flavorful but overall is was a bit dry. Nuoc mia: 4/5 definitely refreshing and not overly sweet but I could barely taste the sugarcane. I do like that they used crushed ice. Pho Lovers doesn't have the best Feng Shui--its location is tucked away, and the sign is barely visible from the parking lot. But if the wind hits just right, you'll catch a whiff of that scrumptious broth, infused with star anise and cloves, guiding you to their door like a moth to a flame. The pho tai was delicious. It had a nice glorious shimmer from the MSG (makes shit good) and unlike other pho places, there is only one size. It is on the smaller side, but the broth was really flavorful and the beef was super tender. That said, the highlight was the "pho dip" brunch experience. It's called Banh Mi Chao aka "baguette with combo sizzling pan" that comes with sizzling meat with eggs, a little scoop of pate, a side salad, and a bowl of pho broth. Never seen this before, but this was "pho" sho' why I loved Pho Lovers. Pho sizzle. The wife and I went with the S3 (slice filet milon steak) because it looked easier to eat than the S4 (beef rib) which felt more like food for the 'gram with the bone sticking out. The baguette was fresh. The eggs were perfectly cooked sunny side up with a garlic butter soy sauce. The filet mignon was well done but real tender. We ripped off pieces of baguette, stuffed in some meat, added some radish from the side salad and then dipped it in the egg yolk. Swallowed and repeated again and again. "Chao" downed. If Pho Lovers would have been like all the other Vietnamese restaurants that have numbers, I think they could have been Pho Lovers 143... or Pho Lovers 69 because I loved every bite. Looking at all the reviews, we need to come back for the oxtail pho and banh mi. Despite being hidden, lunch service was packed on the weekend, and deservedly so. So it's interesting, in the Bay Area there are two Pho Lovers. WT-Pho? The other one is in Sunnyvale. Despite the same name, they seem to be different owners based on their logos and menus. Pho Lovers takes over the space vacated by Chan's restaurant in the Olferts center. The new interior is simple and modern. The tables and stools are tiny and will only fit two dishes on a two top. The stools and settee are hardwood and lower than standard height. The food is very good with pho and bun items. There are beef rib and oxtail options. But on the day we went they ran out of beef ribs by lunch time. There is also a skillet dish with a fried egg. They do close in the afternoon after lunch. Plenty of parking in the shopping center. Stopped by this new Pho place to try out their offerings and see how they compare and based on how many Pho places have come and gone throughout the dublin pleasanton area I hope this place is able to hang around and withstand the seemingly picky tastes from the residents of this area because I feel they have some of the best and most authentic tasting Pho broth around. Most of the pho places around dublin and pleasanton seem to have some pretty plain broth with not much depth but the broth here seems legit and has a complex taste that is simply amazing. I would have loved it if they offered a Bun Bo Hue variety as I prefer that over regular pho but the great broth may make me a convert. All the standard meat options are here and seem to be of very high quality. Having said that I actually love their rice plate dishes even more as you get a chance to swap out rice for a toasted baguette which is of amazing quality and pairs well with any of the meat dishes but my go to is the wok seared filet mignon steak which is thinly sliced and perfectly seasoned with a garlic butter soy sauce so highly recommended. You can also customize your eggs so if you not a sunny side up person (sacrelidge to some I know , sorry!) you can get them fried or scrambled. My only issue is that its a pretty small portion and they dont offer appetizers or large size Pho options. You get a side of the amazing broth as well which is pretty close to the actual pho broth but every so slightly different so make sure you get a sip from someone else in your party to compare! They also offer the pho broth with meat and bread options as well so you can pick the configuration of dish you prefer if you not a carb person and want to skip the noodles/rice. The big beef bone rib is pretty good but not as seasoned as some other places but still tender and meaty. I was a tad disappointed with the Banh Mi sandwich however as it was just okay and not up to what I expected after the pho and rice plates. Still decent just a bit imbalanced with the ratio of protein, veggies and sauce. You still get that amazing bread though. Seems to be a good selection of drinks but no fresh vietnamese lemonade is strange however I have a good substitute in the popping boba coke. the Vietnamese coffee is nice and robust as well if you prefer that. Overall this is a unique vietnamese place that has a smaller more focused menu that really has some standout broth, baguettes and specialty meat plates but you will find that some of your standard v-dishes missing here so come here for a more specialized Vietnamese place. Its a super small dining area as well but great and friendly service staff and a cool vibe. Bring and pay cash for a small discount as well! I came here with my family yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. There are a lot of pho restaurants in the area but this one has some of the best broth I've had! If you know pho, you know it's all about the broth! The restaurant itself is pretty small, when we walking in I didn't have too high expectations but after we each got our soups we were pleasantly surprised. Stopped by on a Sunday night and it was quite busy but we were first in line. Waited for about 10 minutes to get a table. The food: Banh Mi Chao, where have you been my whole life?!?! I have nothing to compare this to, but this dish is fantasticabulous (yes, it deserves a made up word). Two enormous, tender, beef ribs + pate + 2 sunny side up eggs - this is an umami bomb. The baguette comes out fresh and hot, glistening and perfectly golden. We ordered another baguette as we inhaled the first one and still had sauce to scoop up. Pho with beef ribs - we got a ton of beef ribs this night, but no regrets. Pho was tasty and everyone in the family got a bone to gnaw on. You know it's good when people are eating like no one is looking. We got the C11 - taro milk tea - it arrived with no cream on top, so the server went back to add more cream. When he brought it out for the second time, he said it was added the first time but got mixed in. Whatever we got (double cream?) was really good - will see if we can mimic that the next time with extra cream. We left the restaurant super satisfied and wondering when we could come back! I see other reviews complain about portion size and flavors but I disagree, the pho broth was super flavorful and needed no added sauces, was good as is, sizzling beef skillet with the baguette was very good as well, for my id prefer some spice to help enhance the flavor but Solid 4.2 out of 5! I'd def come back. And yes I get customer service can be all over. But looking at the size of the place and the demand with a line outside, be patient with the workers. Ordered the #3 rare steak pho ($14.50) and it only comes in one size so it was a small portion. Broth and meat were good. Lots of green onions. They give you the pho bowl with the thai basil and bean sprouts on a leaf in a wooden type basket thing, which I absolutely hate as it can be very unsanitary. Sure, it looks nice but I rather not have the basket thing and the leaf to hold my veggies. It should be on a separate plate. The time was about less than 45 minutes when was service was about to close for a break. I knew what I wanted to order - the S4, which is sizzling plate consisting of two beef ribs. Instead of bread I ordered rice. I prefer the beef ribs from the sizzling plate than the pho because the dish presented a lot of fatty indulgence. The steam rice absorbed the oily fat from the beef ribs. The garlic butter soy sauce added an umami texture. The two fried eggs soaked the fatty beef ribs. I really do not enjoy giving bad reviews and I sat on this for a while. Noticed this new place while going to Milky Way and thought I'd give them a try since I like supporting small businesses. They had a great selection of Bahn Mi sandwiches. Couldn't decide between the grilled pork or the filet mignon. Decided to go with a classic grilled pork and thought if I really liked it then I'd go back again for the steak one. I was very disappointed when there was barely any meat in my sad little sandwich. I've read other reviews with similar issues that food seems small or not very much. They're not cheap and to pay all this money for mostly just bread and carrots was very disappointing. I usually like to give a business a second chance but it's a treat to take myself out and pay for a nice lunch and then feel ripped off.
