The place is clean, but it seemed like they were understaffed because we had to wait for a while before someone turned around to get their attention to be seated. There were tablets on every table and that's how you order. The fried items were good, but the curry was just okay. Overall, neither food nor service left a strong impression but also nothing was bad.

Big portions and it stayed crispy for takeout! Even the cheesy tonkatsu was still gooey after 20 mins. Chewy noodles and tteokbokki were so good but curry was alright, flavorful but nothing special.

We came in on Thursday evening. They were busy when we came in. Inside was a bit small; the space can feel a bit cramped. It was still their soft opening when we visited, so service was still a bit slow. However, the staff was accommodating and welcoming. We ordered King Donkatsu, Topokki, and Cheese Cutlet side. The king donkatsu was delicious. It was crispy and crunchy, and the pork was tender. The katsu had a tasty curry sauce, but I wished they had added a bit more since the katsu was big. The topokki was also great. The rice cake was chewy, and the sauce was sweet, spicy, and savory. I liked dipping my katsu in the topokki sauce for some extra heat. I honestly couldn't stop eating the rice cake even though I was so full. Lastly, the cheese cutlet was good, but it had a lot of cheese and only had a small amount of pork. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Yumee Katsu. The portion was generous, and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely come back again.

I was NOT expecting this spot to be this good The breading on the tonkatsu? Absolute chef's kiss It's way different from your typical Japanese katsu, extra crispy, super flavorful, and somehow still light at the same time. The restaurant itself is also surprisingly spacious, so it's perfect for bigger groups. The curry tastes pretty close to classic Japanese curry, but they add extra garlic which honestly makes it even better. My only complaint? No spicy option The pork katsu was SO good -- juicy, perfectly fried, and no weird porky/fishy smell at all. The breading texture was literally perfection. I wasn't the biggest fan of the raw cabbage on the side, but honestly that's such a minor thing. We also tried the king katsu. It's definitely on the pricier side, and personally I don't think the upgrade is super worth it since it just felt like a thinner version of the Yumee katsu. Overall, easy 5/5 If you're around the Hayward area, definitely check this place out ;))

While this place is somewhat new, we decided to pay Yumee Katsu a visit on Sun. Decor had changed slightly & new table ordering tablets added. While it was convenient to order yourself at the table, certain items I was unfamiliar with didn't have a description. Orders: Yumee Pork Cutlet w/Curry-a nice moist piece of pork cutlet w/a mildly light curry sauce added. I was pleasantly surprised at how moist & tender the pork was. The panko breading has the perfect amount of coating & not saturated in oil. The curry sauce could have been spicier in my opinion for a little added heat, but it was still good. The appetizers were subpar & was sparse so this was a little disappointing. It was mostly pickled vegetables & it didn't have the diversity I was looking forward to. Chicken Cutlet-didn't try it but looked pretty similar to the pork cutlet. Service was very minimal since you order through the tablet at your table. There was only 1 server on a Sunday afternoon, so you have to be patient. For a quick curry katsu craving, Yumee Katsu fits the bill.

Just tried this spot for the first time and was very impressed with the taste and quality of the food. First off, if you are dining in, it is a smaller restaurant so it would be difficult to seat multiple large parties. Each table has a tablet for you to order. As much as I love the personal aspect of someone coming over to take your order, I do believe this method is more efficient for a place this size. Servers are present and seemed attentive to their customers. I ordered for takeout so I used a kiosk, ordered shrimp katsy curry udon and two orders of the assorted katsu which included cheese, pork and shrimp. While waiting, the workers did update me from time to time about the status of my order, everyone was very friendly. The fry-job on the katsu was very well done, very crispy and not over-fried. I recommend ordering the assorted katsu that way you can try all three of their offerings. Between the three, I enjoyed the shrimp the most though that is just because I love shrimp, there was nothing at all wrong with the pork and cheese, they were all delicious. I'll definitely add this spot to my list of restaurants that I will return to, happy to have this place close by to home.

Delicious and we will be back often! Not big on fried food or spicy. This place is awesome though I came during the soft open on a Sunday at lunch. We had to wait for a table for dine in There are a few menu items only in Korean in the physical menu, but in the electronic menu it is in English Chicken cutlet moist inside and crispy exterior. It was not greasy. Chicken curry --the curry is good and fresh tasting. I don't always like Asian curry but this one is great with good seasoning The coleslaw is fresh and yummy with the fried cutlet. Pickled items were ok. Soup good enough Our two orders did not come at the same time, which was bad, ( like more than a 5 min difference ) but perhaps this will improve as they get used to business. When I asked, they said they accidentally made a pork cutlet so had to restart mine. Easy parking. Walking distance to BART

Delicious katsu with no waiting since we arrived a few minutes after opening for dinner on a Wednesday eve!! Quick & friendly service who offered help with our own kiosk at table! My husband and I ordered the assorted katsu and pork katsu! Came out hot and crispy with cabbage salad, onion and daikon(?) sides! Will remember to take quicker pics cuz the cheese katsu was coming out and getting cold- my bad! Will definitely return and try the curry!! And will ask if we can get more soup and sides?

Did a large togo order and thought the katsu's were pretty good! We all got an assortment of items and shared. The togo packaging was okay, I thought the containers weren't consistent with the food itself in terms of sizing and portion. The rice portions were fairly small in my opinion. The king katsu and fish katsu portions were fairly big but the curry katsu was tiny, for the curry and rice. I got the king katsu and it was already cut to fit the togo box. It came with a tomato tasting sauce that was delicious. The katsu was super thin and the breading was pretty good. The cheese katsu was also really good but not sure if it's worth the cost given its 90% cheese. The curry katsu portion was small in terms of the actual curry and rice. The jjolmyun was delicious but was all stuck together since the sauce was already in but we put some udon soup inside the noodles to re-mix it. Overall, I'll be back but to try in person. Togo is always tough especially when it's fried food. Given they just opened, I thought it was delicious. Give this spot a try!

Have come here a couple times since this place opened and have been pleasantly surprised! It's Korean style katsu and curry with lots of options. So far I've tried the assorted katsu plate (with cheese, shrimp, and pork), the chicken curry udon, the soba, and the spicy noodles. We usually hit about $50 for 2-3 dishes, but they also have small side dishes you can add on. Pros: - The food comes out really fast, and they seem to have a good system going with the tablet ordering on the table. - Easy parking lot, you just might have to park a little farther if it's a really busy time - I think it meets a unique niche in this area because there aren't that many Korean katsu places nearby - The curry udon was DELICIOUS, and the katsu meat to breading ratio is actually perfect. - The cheese katsu is very unique and tasty, but I probably can't bring myself to eat more than 1 at a time because it's very fried and I feel like it would give me diabetes. Just make sure you eat this FIRST before it cools down because the pull isn't as delicious if you wait too long. - I know this isn't a main dish but the soba noodles oddly were my FAVORITE - especially refreshing on a really hot day! - The portions are huge, every time I've gone I've had leftover katsu and they don't skimp on the meat - All the staff were super nice and kept our waters filled Cons: - not great for parties bigger than 4, it can get kind of busy even on weeknights and there's an average amount of table space inside the restaurant. - Can feel heavy due to just the nature of the fried food - but they do give you some citrus-y flavored cabbage on the side Honestly, this is a huge upgrade from the ramen 101 that used to be here, and I will definitely be back!

    Curry Udon w/Fried Pork Katsu

After my second time of trying Yumee Katsu, I can gladly acknowledge them as a reliable spot for quick, simple, and comforting meals revolving around their fried Katsu. At first glance, everything is quite simple, from the menu options to their layout and ordering system, everything is streamlined pretty well. Upon entering the small shop, you'll be greeted and seated by kind staff. There are tablets at most tables where you can browse and order on your own, or you can opt in for a physical menu where the staff will help take your order. During our first visit, my partner and I ordered the Curry Udon w/Fried Pork Katsu and the Jjolmyun (Spicy Korean Chewy Noodle?) w/Fried Pork Katsu. The Curry Udon actually lacked flavor and thickness. I would guess that it's because of the residual water from the cooked udon, but nonetheless, a bit disappointing. The Jjolmyun had more flavor, but it was primarily sweet flavors that embodied the chewy noodles and sliced veggies; contrast to the citrusy and savory Bibim Naengmyeon you'd more commonly see at Korean restaurants. Despite the weaker noodle dishes, the Fried Pork Katsu was easily the highlight. A big decadent piece of fried katsu sliced to encompass the majority of the plate proved itself. The meat to batter ratio was great, the meat was pretty tender, it was fried perfectly; exactly what you'd look for when ordering a Fried Katsu. Is it the best that I've ever had that's comparable to ones In Korea and Japan? No, but it gets the job done! The second time around I ordered the Rosé Toppoki w/Fried Katsu while my friend ordered the Curry Rice w/Fried Katsu. I actually enjoyed the Rosé Toppoki and thought it paired well with the Katsu. It was also a sweeter thick sauce with a bit of a spicy kick. Unsurprisingly, my friend wasn't too impressed with the Curry and thought it could've been thicker and richer, but like me, he enjoyed the Katsu. Both times, the service was great. We were greeted with kind smiles and occasional check ins throughout our meal. They even provided us a katsu sauce mid-meal, that you can supposedly ask for free of charge. The server kindly explained how it was imported from Korea and contained pear. Through and through, Korean Auntie's providing great service, smiles, and good food has lead to a great experience that would keep me coming back. I do think the meal is on the pricier side, but you are also served a side of salad, soup, and pickled vegetables to accompany your meal.

We came here during the soft opening and believe that they still have a lot to work on. We waited 20 minutes with one party ahead of us. But then, they called 2 parties ahead of us and when I pointed out that we were next and that she probably read the name wrong, she didn't acknowledge that she read it wrong and instead was just going to skip us. To avoid issues like that I would highly recommended a check-in system through an iPad since they already use it for ordering throughout the restaurant. Then, it took about another 20 minutes for us to get our food. There wasn't nearly enough waiting space especially given the rain that evening. As for the food, it is on the pricier side for what you get. We ordered the katsu curry with rice and a side of udon noodles and then a chicken katsu curry with rice. It was over $42 plus tax and tip for the meal, which is pricy. The chicken was thin in some areas and too thick in others. My partner said the chicken tasted dry. The soup it came with tasted a little like miso soup but more fishy. The salad had a weird dressing on it that kind of smelled of soap. We barely got any udon and there was not enough vegetarian options -- they only have cheese katsu as an appetizer but not enough other options. As for the curry itself -- it had the right flavors but it was lukewarm when it came out, watery, and there was very little of it. For $20 a plate I would have thought there'd be much more food. There was also no veggies in the curry itself where I'm used to potatoes, peas, carrots -- something.... Basically we left the restaurant a little disappointed.we ordered our food on the iPad at our table and no one really checked in on us. They were super busy.

Super yummy katsu and decent portions. We tried the curry katsu and the assorted katsu. The pork katsu was a nice texture and the cheese katsu was nice to try, but I would just get it as a side in the future! The pork katsu has good texture and was crispy and fresh. The curry katsu was good as well, everything was plated very nicely. The soup was a nice touch as well! Super easy to find parking in this lot and the service was good!

We stumbled upon this small shop in a seemingly sketchy, empty parking lot and honestly wondered if we made a mistake at first. But once we walked in, the place was almost full at 5 PM--mostly with Korean-speaking customers, which is always the ultimate green flag. We were so blown away! This was easily one of the best Korean meals we've had in the Bay Area. It's authentic, salt-of-the-earth home cooking. The Soups: The Seolleongtang and Galbi Gomtang were totally legit. The broths had amazing depth and were incredibly flavorful. Seafood Pancake: One of the absolute best I've ever eaten. Portions are large and the pricing is very decent. It's a bit out of the way if you're coming straight from SJ, but we are absolutely keeping this place in mind whenever we're heading up north toward the East Bay! Highly recommend.

I love how their Dumpling Tofu Soup is actually filled with a lot of dumplings, and the chunks of tofu are so soft. Mild spice is like peppered level, and the soup is flavorful.

Kong Sarang did an excellent job handling my large takeout order…read more Not only was the entire order completed within 10 minutes, but everything was packaged carefully and securely, including the banchan, sauces, and utensils. *Banchan: generously included two full containers containing seven different side dishes. My order came with bean sprouts, broccoli, fish cakes, potatoes, kimchi, eggplant, and tofu. My favorites were the stir fried fish cakes and the lightly sweetened potatoes. *Kimchi Jjigae: the broth carried a pleasantly fermented kimchi flavor. There was also a generous amount of soft tofu incorporated throughout the stew. This leaned more heavily into deeper, aged kimchi notes. *Mul Naengmyun: the chilled broth had a naturally tangy and slightly sweet profile, so the side of mustard felt necessary to sharpen the flavors further. The buckwheat noodles were pleasantly bouncy, though they had clumped together a bit at the bottom. Unfortunately, the toppings were the weakest part, as both the meat and egg were noticeably overcooked. *Corn Cheese: surprisingly mozzarella forward. The cheese was melted well and paired nicely with the bursts of sweetness from the corn. This complemented the hotter savory dishes especially well. Overall, this is a solid takeout option with efficient service and dependable packaging. I would still like to see more depth and refinement in some of the broths, but the foundation is definitely there.

The stir-fried fish cakes had a nice bite to them, the potatoes were roasted well, namuls were seasoned nicely, and the kimchi had a fantastic sourness that paired well with meat. The galbi was tender in every bite, sweet & salty from the marinade, and had a great char. I was surprised how tender every bite of galbi was, even the pieces against the bone! The tender galbi topped with vibrant kimchi on a bed of fluffy rice will satisfy any meat-rice cravings. Service - 4/5. Quick and professional. The restaurant was slow and the one server was in the back most of the time but the service was still prompt. Value - 5/5. They have an amazing lunch special offer of $19 for the plate of kalbi. The portions were huge and they did not skimp on the banchan either. Quality was fantastic with everything tasting delicious with authentic Korean flavors. Parking - Street (Free)

When ordering, you have to order 2 plates minimum, but if you order pork, that's not included in the 2 plates. You'd have to order an additional 2 plates to mix & match. The server told us it's because you need a special cooking top for the pork so it doesn't cause a fire. Understandable, but still a bit disappointing. We opted just for the beef & seafood pancake. Beef was marinated well. Seafood pancake was alright. It came out last since it took the longest to come out. I felt there wasn't an equal ratio of seafood to green onion and just more green onion. It was a bit on the pricier side.

I decided on two of the tacos because it was a different option than I'm used to being available, because it had Korean flavored proteins. I chose the spicy pork and kalbi. I was given a choice of corn or flour tortillas which I appreciated. The employee was patient with me as I placed my order. It was my first time visiting this establishment so I took my time reading the menu descriptions. She also advised me my order would take about 10 minutes to be ready. I also found that helpful. I was able to find a seat and even check out a couple other stalls. I didn't realize I would pick up my order at the other end of the stall near the meat counters. I actually think my number had been called but I was expecting to retrieve my order from the same counter I ordered from. The tacos were tasty and had a even filling ratio. Each bite was good. I decided to split my street tacos into two by dividing up the filling. It made me think I was eating a larger portion. I preferred the flavor of the kalbi taco. The meal was satisfying enough. I might try the ma'cho nachos, kbbq burrito or Korean fried chicken next time. All in all I say give it a try. I love when a fusion concept works.
