    Veggie pho
    Joseph N.

Bam, new favorite restaurant in Poughkeepsie! Seriously, this was just the most comforting meal in a restaurant with such proud owners, you must visit. We decided to head here for banh mi and pho, but ended up also getting the chili lemongrass tofu and spring rolls. I'm no Vietnamese food connoisseur, but I've dabbled occasionally. What made this experience incredible from the start was the warm welcome we received from Chi, part of the family who owns the restaurant. He gave us some time with the menu, then stopped back to check in. We mentioned that it was our first time here and he began offering suggestions from the menu to accommodate both me and my partner, who is vegetarian. You can see from the photos that the food was on point with presentation for the otherwise hole-in-the-wall feel. He then began making suggestions on how to eat different dishes, recommending sauce combinations and explaining the traditional way to eat pho and what different add-ins and sauce mixtures do to elevate the dishes. When we finally got into the food, it was seriously incredible. Packed full of flavor without the excess salt or fats like you get with some cuisines. Mid-meal we agreed that this was just what we had been missing and how it is our new favorite spot. Inside is brighter than you would expect from the outside. It's clean with plenty of tables inside to accommodate parties of up to 5 comfortably. They're coming up on their first anniversary on December 15, and Chi was beaming with pride about it, it was very sweet. We stuck around chatting for a few minutes and got to hear him compliment his wife and sister-in-law as the engines of the business. So refreshing to eat at a restaurant and not have it feel transactional, it truly feels like home inside. Absolute must try if you're looking for something different and/or amazing!

Huge bowl of soup that is very aromatic. I wish that I would've added the raw beef too. But, maybe next time. Small restaurant. Service was ok. Very cute inside, had the Vietnamese theme to it.

Great flavor, friendly service and warm ambiance inside. 2nd visit to pick up pho and shrimp rolls on a cold sunday. Flavor was on point and some ingredients like Thai basil tasted home grown almost. Broth also tasted authentic, not like some msg overload salt bomb. Highly recommend.

Okay. New favorite pho place. Downtown Poughkeepsie almost under the Walkway. With Pho, it's all about the broth and THIS IS IT. Really wanted to try the Lemongrass Chili Tofu but I'm too full. Lots of veggie options. Humble but delish!

    Combo Pho

This is easily one of the best pho spots I've been to in a while. Not only does it stand out among other pho places in the valley, but it also gets all the details right from the broth to the proper type of noodles, which is surprisingly rare around here. If you're looking for great pho, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

    Combo Pho, toppings

We decided to come here after hearing great things about the restaurant. We ordered a bowl of combo pho, bun Bo hue, and 1 beef bahn mi. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend the bahn mi! It's a small and unassuming place near the walkway. I didn't see a parking lot but there's plenty of street parking nearby. Service was quick and casual. They take your order and you pay at the counter when you're done eating. I will definitely be back!

Who would have thought? An authentic Vietnamese spot in the middle of Poughkeepsie. Both the crispy crape and vermicelli bowl were delicious and filling. Great price points too. Parking is only available on the street.

I came across this spot by chance and so glad that I did, first time trying pho and it was amazing, I got the bun bo hue which is the spicy soup with lemongrass and it was absolutely amazingly delicious! I also got the shrimp egg rolls, so good. The service was great and quick, the ambiance was very family oriented and intimate which I loved, tables spaced out enough. I can't wait to go back it was absolutely delicious. I've tried other places closer to home and it just doesn't compare... I'll be back soon!

Could be a great location for them.

Little error in ordering, but how quickly they recovered and sincerely apologised. Space is bright and clean with some culture charm about it. We ordered a beef pho and a chicken pho both were FRESH and delicious. Glad to have this new spot around the corner from home.

My aunt, who is handicapped and has Down syndrome, needed to use the restroom, but the waitress told them they couldn't use it. They had to walk all the way to Dunkin' Donuts instead, which was frustrating and honestly embarrassing. When my dad and I finally came in, the waitress asked if it was for two, and I said no, for four. When my mom and aunt returned, it felt awkward knowing the restaurant had a restroom but didn't allow them to use it. That was very rude and disappointing. We did have a male server who was kind, and the food itself was good, so credit to the chef. However, after we finished eating, no one checked on us. I had to go up to the counter to pay, and no one asked if we needed a to-go box--I ended up getting one myself and packing my own food. Overall, while the food was good, the customer service and basic courtesy need serious improvement.

I ordered the Pho Tibet Special,,, it was such a icy cold day this hot soup brought me back to life it was sooooo good! SO GOOD! If we went on food alone this would be 10/10 but I am so disappointed with the service!! Like? There was only one other table dinning when I went with my group of three, I am assuming they probably have a lot of online orders and that is why it took so long for the food to come but it was not just the food! The staff themself took so long to come take our order and did not even look in our direction that I had assumed I had to go up to the counter to order (which you don't they come to your table), and when we did order they forgot our summer rolls, they forgot to bring us water, and forgot to bring us silverware... come on... I don't want to be a hater! Eventually we got the summer rolls and silverware but I never got water? they brought water for the rest of my table though lol. Okay well you know the staff was young so they are probably still learning, I am gonna give three stars... and the food was good I would be willing to try again,,, but this place is probably better as takeout then dining in... it is unfortunate because it is a nice space, I like how open it is. Besides pho and banh mi, the restaurant also has a variety of drinks. My family and I shared a fried pork spring rolls and it was delicious! Perfectly crisped and meaty without being too overloaded. As for the pho, my sister and dad got the sliced steak pho and my mom and I got the grilled pork chop pho. The sliced steak was overcooked and the grilled pork chop was not as flavorful as I'd like. The pho was decent but not the best. The service was great as the server came to check up on us every now and then - refilling our water as well. Water is complimentary but tea is extra charge. There is one restroom for customers as well. As we were heading out, we decided to order drinks to try. We got a Thai iced tea and a Vietnamese coffee. The Thai iced tea was good - not too sweet with enough tea flavor. Ideally, I would like a little more tea flavor though. As for the Vietnamese coffee, my sister and mom enjoyed it very much. The ambiance is warm and the food is very good, with a menu concentrated on pho (and variations on the classic), rice & vermicelli platters, and banh mi, with a vegetarian version of each. I love when a restaurant focuses on the categories they do well and not branch out just for the sake of variety. The pho is perfectly solid, with a flavorful broth though not as complex as my favorite pho place up the street (which I'm normally loyal to but like to switch it up now and then). The sliced brisket isn't paper thin but there's a generous pile of it, on top of an equally generous mound of noodles. Personally I prefer my usual spot but can see why many people like this place better. The banh mi is excellent and very satisfying, stuffed with tender marinated grilled meats, balanced with the sweet tart crunch of pickled carrots & daikon. The deliciousness of the proteins translates equally well to the rice platters. I wasn't a fan of the strawberry milk tea I ordered - it's very sweet and artificial, like a powdered drink not real milk tea. Good bubble teas are so hard to find! The pot of hot jasmine tea was nice though. Whether you pronounce it I-foe or I-fuh, this is a terrific and proper Vietnamese restaurant and we've really enjoyed our meals here. 4.5 stars.

We were there at lunchtime on a Monday, which is typically a slower day for restaurants, but we were only one of two tables yet there was no real enthusiasm by the wait staff, two women with seemingly no mission. My daughter and I pressed on, however, having a craving for Thai cuisine. I had been here many years ago and found the food to be good but the service to be subpar. I've traveled throughout Asia extensively over the years so I find this complacency at this particular restaurant and anomaly. The food, however, was excellent. We ordered the duck with in a curry sauce, explaining my allergies to alliums. The meal was well presented, well seasoned, and allium free. So they earned back a star for that. My daughter ordered glass noodles with chicken and vegetables, which also was presented very well and extremely tasty. She was very pleased. We stuck with water, but I would've enjoyed being offered a pot of tea, even at a price. We were there for about an hour and saw two or three takeout orders, and one other table will be seated. Very slow indeed. There was a lot of downtime for the weight staff, but they didn't seem to feel it important to check in on us. That's a shame. So here's where we stand: five stars for the food and the value. Three stars for the atmosphere. And unfortunate two stars for Service. My rating is a generous three stars because the food saved the day.
