My large bowl of combination pho ($17.00 plus tax)
    Herbert L.

My eldest son and I were running errands and ended up near Chinatown today. We decided on pho for lunch. We're hoping to be lucky to find on street parking but no luck today. We parked at a nearby municipal parking as we were hungry. The broth was really tasty. Service was fast and friendly. It's near an Asian market and shopping area so it's convenient if you're looking for certain items. 4 out of 5 stars since we were not lucky with parking today ;)

The presentation alone is outstanding. Its just what i want sometimes when i go eat PHO, a nice rice plate, and sometimes the soup. But im happy thanks

Great service and delicious Pho. We were craving some Pho on the island and wanted to try a mom's and pops place. Great value, large portions and delicious food. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

A convenient, no frills place for a nice bowl of pho in Chinatown. My usual place if I feel like a bowl of pho in Chinatown. Tasty broth, pretty generous amount of gan (beef tendon) in the bowl, and lots of veggies to put inside, and it fills me up pretty good. Usually service is pretty quick, however it can get busy during lunchtime, but usually I can get a seat pretty easily. Prices have creeped up a bit, but in the ballpark for a medium bowl of noodles at most other similar places ($14). So all in all, a pretty good place to get a bowl of pho and it will remain on my "Chinatown shortlist!"

Service: non existent, thus, why only 4 stars. Food: really good!! Pho broth was tasteful! I got the medium. Size looks small, but they give the perfect amount of noodles and meat. $14.00 for medium, and you are able to choose 6 toppings. Good deal. Summer roll was also good, $9.00 and it had shrimp and a slice of meat. Ambiance: around 10 tables. Restaurant is not the most modern looking, but it's clean enough. So far, best deal overall for price of food compared to other pho restaurants in Chinatown.

I've walked past this place so many times when I've been in Chinatown. I finally went there with a few of my work buddies. The inside looks like a "typical" Vietnamese restaurant. Simple interior with a bunch of tables and chairs. Saw a lot of local types so you already know it's a good place. I was telling my friend I'd never been there, he said he'd been going since he was a kid and he's in his 50's. The waitress was very friendly and took our order within a few minutes of us getting our menus. I went with my old standby, chicken pho. Figure I get something I'm familiar with to compare to my other go tos. The broth is definitely legit. I'll definitely be back for me, maybe I'll even try something different. Maybe..

The location is right in the heart of Chinatown. The dining room was pretty low-lit with a very loud TV playing Vietnamese music videos. We were sat at a table near the back. The dinings room has a drink fridge and extra cooking supplies throughout the area. Our server was nice and the food came pretty quickly. The drinks were pretty small and they do NOT offer milk alternatives as their menu states (for coffee and lattes). Pho and Bun Bo Hue was pretty standard. The veggies that come with your soups were super fresh!

Pho 97. The last and final Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown to try (Pho 88 closed!?). This wasn't saving the best for last. I was actually saving the lowest Yelp rated for last and debated whether I should even try. Well, now I know the reason for the 3.5 average stars. Actually, I'm surprised it's even that high. Pho 97 has been along Maunakea St--right outside the Maunakea Marketplace before Hotel St--for many years. 1997? I don't remember! The first thing that hit me as I entered this restaurant was the feeling of a public restroom. The sticky floors and table, the slight dampness and humidity in air, the odd AC odor, and restroom "clean linen" air fresheners. It did not feel comfortable at first, but I eventually got used to it. Typical fare. Pho is $13 for medium and $14 for large. If you are tight on time or super hungry, you'll get your Pho in less than 30 seconds after you order! I didn't even prep my sauces yet! Ugh, this Pho... First taste of the broth was just MSG with that sweet taste. Adding the vegetables helps, but not if there's a hair in the bean sprouts. Glad I saw it beforehand... All the beef was OH-Kay. It was on the tough side for everything. Thank goodness the saté sauce is tasty. Overall, it's safe to say this is the worst Pho in Chinatown. It might be on-par with places outside of Chinatown, but I never had a hair in my bean sprouts. I hope they didn't just take the hair out and be used for the next customer... Service was fine. Food came out incredibly fast. I won't be returning to this one.

    Banh khot
    Kathy L.

The only Vietnamese restaurant in town who serves banh khot and they make it legit with the coconut milk and everything! It's nice and toasty/crispy on the edges and comes with your herbs and veggies as well as the nước cham sauce. They're always so friendly and accommodating. Parking can be a hassle, like it is for any business in Chinatown. They also serve my favorite Vietnamese refreshment/dessert, chè sâm bổ lượng.

Back in the late 80's and into the start of 1990's there were days when I had frequently went out with my parents to what's known as - "Saimin stand" (it probably had a name but I always heard my parents call it that) if anyone was around Oahu- Honolulu, Hawaii (Kalihi area ) in those days there was one that was off of King st. close to Tamishiro Market across of the elementary school. They frequently was so busy that they tried their best to accommodate tables of 5-8 people... or more. The plates were those plastic, hard distinguished pastel green, yellow, pink in color. Serving the chicken or meat skewers. And then the saimin bowls with the decorative ring around the outside. This Pho 97 place on Maunakea st. Had brought back those memories of eating at the saimin stand again as a kid. The menu had so much to choose from and the service like the saimin stand I remember was just like this. It's the old Hawaii that exist here. Those days when you went in and sometimes a hot bowl of noodles be it saimin or pho.... is right there. I liked this place, it deserves my return... thank you Pho 97.

I swear I reviewed this restaurant! Yelp Ghost isn't that funny anymore. It's ok though since Pho 97 is worth the time to write another review. I recall the food is good and the place is clean. Never had any real complaints about the restaurant so I'm down to dine there. It's just not the top of my list when I eat pho as I'm a creature of habit. When it rains, I usually crave soup and pho always is my go to for anything but for some strange reason, I was really craving Bun Bo Hue (BBH). I even watched some YouTube videos of BBH before bed so I knew I had to have it the following day. With the storm still present and many places still flooded or without power, I decided to make the journey to Chinatown anyways. When I got there, my first pick of where to eat BBH was closed. Next door was renovating. Third spot I thought of was closed and replaced with another Vietnamese restaurant but they were also closed. Power was out in these buildings. As I walked around Chinatown, I finally found a Vietnamese restaurant open (Pho 97) so I went it. I was literally the first customer of the day but the restaurant filled up by the time my order arrived. The bowl was a good size and the broth came out hot! It's perfect because it's the right temperature to cook all the fresh veggies. They give you an average portion of fresh veggies though. I enjoy lots of veggies with my BBH so I wish they gave just a little more. The broth is very tasty and the type of clear BBH broth I prefer. Noodles were perfectly cooked and soft. The pork blood cubes, fish cake, slices of beef and pork hock was just right for the portion. To top things off, the sauté sauce on the table is legit. This perfect bowl of awesomeness filled my BBH craving and has jumped Pho 97 up a couple spots on my go to restaurants (when craving BBH especially).

If you're lucky, you can snag a metered parking spot nearby. Pho Que Huong is super clean, and I love how they decorate for holidays. Family-owned, this local business is very welcoming. Plenty of tables. Clean restrooms for paying customers. The food and drink are made with utmost care. The produce is always fresh and clean. The pho broth is unmatched. Not too sweet, lovely and aromatic. Portions are generous for the price point. Vietnamese coffee is a must! Strong and sweet--yum! The spring rolls even taste "healthy" here in that they're not too oily, and made with fresh ingredients. The customer service is always on-point, whether eating in or taking out. Note: They do not offer XL size for takeout. I think it's sweet they don't advertise otherwise, since they don't have the proper containers for that amount of food. Your service is absolute garbage. This morning, I called to place an order. I initially tried using Vietnamese to order two PDBs, but the woman who answered couldn't understand me. I switched to English and asked for two "Pho Combinations." She understood that, took the order, and told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I also wanted to order Quẩy, so I asked, "Can I get one Quẩy?" Again, she didn't understand. So I clarified in English: "Add one Chinese doughnut." Guess what her response was? She condescendingly told me, "This is a Vietnamese restaurant, not a Chinese restaurant." What the hell is your problem? On your very own menu, that item is literally listed as a "Chinese doughnut." As a server, you don't even know your own restaurant's menu, yet you have the audacity to respond to a customer with such an arrogant, rude, and racially discriminatory attitude. It's disgusting. Everyone knows you are a Vietnamese restaurant. But Quẩy is widely known as a Chinese doughnut, and that is exactly how it is written on your menu. Learn your own menu. To make matters worse, when I arrived 20 minutes later, the front desk told me my phone order hadn't even been made yet and that I had to wait. What on earth was the point of me calling ahead? It's a complete joke. If you are going to be this arrogant and rude, and if you hate Chinese culture so much, why is your restaurant located in Chinatown? Why don't you move to a Vietnamese neighborhood? This is Chinatown. This restaurant has incredibly low-quality staff and a glaring issue with discrimination. It is absurd that an employee can work here without even knowing the menu. To openly disrespect and discriminate against Chinese customers--when you are located in Chinatown and 80% of your repeat customers are Chinese--is pathetic. Take your business elsewhere.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

When we arrived, we were the first guests so got to pick our table. When we sat down at the pretty wooden booth, there was a happy hour menu on the table. What?!? And YAY!! There was a 2-for special on the cocktails and you could select from the full menu which featured an extravagant and eclectic selection. There were wine and beer specials too but we were here for the cocktails. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, chicken wings, and the Bo Ne Steak--a Vietnamese breakfast with bone marrow, cubed steak, sunny side eggs and a baguette. I can vouch for the spring rolls, light and crunchy without being oily. I don't eat land animals but my friend said the wings were divine. And they give you gloves to eat them. So civilized (ha) and a nice touch! She loved the bone marrow and steak. There was so much food she didn't finish it so I took it home to the hubby who devoured it. No complaints and only smiles from him! I wanted to try a couple pescatarian dishes from the regular menu so ordered the lemongrass clams which was AH-mazing! Could have been my favorite dish of the night because the flavors were unexpected but undeniably good. And, the garlic salmon bun (vermicelli noodles) was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was savory yet light. I've never seen this option at any other Vietnamese restaurant and it certainly elevates the traditional dish which usually comes with meat, tofu, or spring rolls. (You can still order the bun with these options and they let you choose your protein combos.) Finally, (I told you there was a lot of food) we ordered the banana blossom salad. I rarely see this offering at other Vietnamese restaurants. It's hard to describe but I refer to this dish as the red-carpet version of the green papaya salad. It's more dressed up and sophisticated. A real treat and a must-have if you're dining at An Di Dzo. Parking was easy since it's at Ward (by the theaters or you can park anywhere in the village). The restaurant is clean and modern. And the service was courteous and professional. Our server Alex was great and made the evening extra special. An Di Dzo is open for lunch and dinner. They also offer some vegan options so I'll be back. Hubby enjoyed the leftovers so much he wants to give it a dine-in try. You don't have to ask me twice! Highly recommend you give them a try, too.

Popped in to An Di Dzo randomly while walking around Ward on a random Wednesday night! The place…read morewas more than half full but we were able to be seated right away. They have very trendy seating styles. We were seated in a wooden booth. The booth chairs were so far away from the table, there was no way you'd be able to eat without sitting on the edge of the bench haha. But very spacious for 4 people! The waitress was prompt with bringing our water, taking our order and bringing our food out. They have a little lazy-Susan style sauce/condiment platter on each table which was nice for the pho. The food was actually very tasty! I enjoyed everything I ate. Which kind of shocked me, being that town is more of a touristy area and I wasn't expecting to get decent pho! Since they're located in the same building as ward theaters, there's an entire parking structure for you to park in, for free! So don't worry about parking. If you're in the area, I'd suggest trying this place out!

Been wanting to try Vietnamese food that wasn't Pho or Bahn Mi…read more Got the beef salad and for someone who doesn't eat rabbit food, I gotta admit it was good. The dressing was really good. You already know the beef was good or it wouldn't get a good review from me. Got the spring rolls which was nice and hot. Wrapped the spring roll, noodles and the carrot & daikon with the lettuce and dipped it into the sauce. Winnahs. For the main entrees got the crispy fried noodles with seafood. It's like the Vietnamese version of Chinese seafood with cake noodles. Very crunchy and tasty. Lots of seafood. The other entree was the combo sizling plate. Yes, the plate was sizling. The plate had pate, sausage, meatball, beef and a fried egg. I've never tasted anything like that before. It's not the usual taste that you're accustomed to but i enjoyed it. I thought it was good. Both entrees and the salad are good serving size. I like the spring rolls and wish had more but that's just me. The service is excellent even though it was pretty busy. The waiter apologized for being late but it was quite understandable. He's so polite. The lady who might be the owner was very pleasant and personable. It was a very good experience. The only thing that might be a slight problem like any other restaurant on Kapahulu is parking.

Just all in all you know once you step inside you're in for a treat. Gotta try the PHO for sure but the lowkey banger is the FRIED CHICKEN w/ FISH SAUCE! My son asks for it every time we pass aiea shopping center lol

Got the: - wafu steak…read more- lemongrass chicken & spring roll vermicelli - shrimp summer roll I haven't tasted the wafu steak but it must be good if my friend orders it all the time. Shrimp summer roll is the most basic summer roll - all the inside consists of is iceberg lettuce and rice noodles. Where are the other veggies like bean sprouts and thai basil?! Such a let down. The peanut sauce is all right, kind of watery but still does the job. Lemongrass chicken & spring roll vermicelli - this is good. The spring rolls and lemongrass chicken are both tasty. Their side salad has more veggies than the summer roll - iceberg lettuce, pickled carrots & daikon, and cucumber! The sauce the dish comes with is pretty tasty, too! I'm not sure if I'd come back...the only reason I ordered from here was because the other pho place is closed til July :(
