I really like the taste of the food here so basically my stars on based solely on the food. You cannot expect good service here whatsoever. It's more of a cultural thing rather than being inhospitable and disrespectful or rude. In true Vietnamese culture, you have to wave down the servers/restaurant workers in order to get what you want. So if you're ready to order or want something, just wave them down instead of expecting the servers/workers to check up on you. Great little place with a family feel. Your standard Veitamese Pho restaurant, minimal estetics with an emphasis on the food and friendly staff. Delicious, healthy and filling with the wonderful Siagon Market just down the way. About the only thing I would change is to have more Veitamese food options and fish sauce on the table. This is my first pho place in the Carolinas and my BIL told me this was the best in the area. They live in Cowpens so Greenville is a bit of a trip, to me at least. People in the country think 30-40 min drives are short! So you seat yourself in this establishment it appears. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was relative slow. Sat and was served quickly. I ordered the house special pho since I like everything. They only have one size which is a bit of a bummer. My pho came out and the broth was just a little bit over room temp. Broth tasted good but they definitely need bigger bowls. I received a lot of meat, which is good and the pho was tasty but the temp was really a bummer. I don't need it piping hot, but it wasn't hot at all. I wouldn't even say warm. It's worth a stop and I'm sure YMMV with the broth temp. No one else in my party said anything so maybe it was just mine. read more

Without a doubt the most fantastic pho tai! This soup is most delicious on a cold day or if you're feeling sick. They offer two different sauces but I like to spice my soup up with sriracha. It's loaded with toppings including jalapenos, basil, and noodles. I've had nothing but great experiences here. Mama Mia, the owner/manager is greedy! I had some to go order and they completely messed up my order plus 1 of the items were missing (an order of salad rolls). I called to let them know my discovery upon arriving home and the young boy at the cash register immediately apologized and offered full refund. We agreed that I will come back the next day. When I showed up there the next day about my issue, they started backing up on their promises and saying that they spoke to a manager and he said to ask me what did I do with the food I got? I said: we ate the broth and the noodles but not the meat part because it was raw in my order and also there was shaved pigs skin. I did not order pho with those choices of meat 100%, plus I don't eat pigs skin. They told me they can only refund me money for my missing order of salad rolls, that's it, since we ate the rest of the food. If I knew this issue I would honestly bring their food back right then, upon discovery. I asked for a managers phone number but they didn't want to give it to me, instead - someone just dialed it off their phone, the manager's name is Henry. He told me that their menu includes raw meat, I said not the ones I chose, I read the menu carefully and even doubled checked with the order person before placing an order. He started asking me up to every detail of what exactly we discarded and what exactly we ended up eating‍ Finally, he told me that it's the same price for the broth and noodles as it's for the broth noodles and meat and all the veggies on a side wow if that's the case then why they don't offer it in a menu as an option? Exactly, nobody would order that way! Anyways, once again - if I would know they'll start backing up and avoiding my refund I would honestly not even show up there, made me feel very uncomfortable like I came begging for money. They refunded my order of salad rolls that I had missing and 30% from my order ($27). pretty much my advice is: request to check your to go order upon picking it up. They pack it all that you can't see what's inside, besides a broth container, but to avoid situation like mine better know you got your food, not some funky stuff you didn't order. read more

I ordered the broth with prawns and my husband ordered the broth with brisket. We were thoroughly impressed with the flavors. Such comforting food. We asked if they had any extra vegetables that we could add (other than the usual that comes with it) and they didn't have anything which was completely understandable since it was a specialty order. After we we were served the Pho, our server came out of the kitchen and said "we normally don't do this but this is for you". He gave us carrots and some additional vegetables to add to our soup. We know this is not a usual request but they delivered and we were super appreciative. Service was great. Place seemed extremely clean. We loved it and will be back to try other items. This place I wish I could give 3.5 stars. Their broth is good, it's salty but I like that. I had the bun bo hue that had a good broth, no blood cake or pork knuckle though. They didn't have extra shrimp paste either. I agree with the reviews that the service is pretty much non existent. You get your food and that's basically it. If I were in the area I would come back. I was seated after about a 5-10 minute wait (no big deal there). Once seated, it was over 30 minutes before anyone took my order, or even spoke to me for that matter. Then it was another 30+ minutes for a single bowl of pho. I spent almost two hours at the restaurant for a bowl of pho that took 15 minutes to eat. To be fair, it was pretty busy, and restaurant staffing issues are fairly common at the moment. However, this was easily the worst restaurant experience I have had in a long, long, time. The pho was actually pretty good, but not at all worth nearly two hours, plus the time to drive to/from the restaurant. I will be looking for other options in Greenville to get my pho fix read more

My husband usually enjoys beef pho but this time around, he found so many chewy pieces of fat and we've never had that in our pho at other places so that was a big part of our decision. I think it is kind of expensive for a bowl of pho for a location like this because we used to pay no more than $8 for a huge bowl and that was in a beautiful decorated pho restaurant with phenomenal customer service. I used to frequent this establishment a lot because I'd go to the Asian Market in that same plaza, so the location is convenient. Their Pho is pretty decent. It's even better as a take out because it seems like you get double the portion. Prices are good too. Their service sucks though. And they seem to always be understaffed. Luckily I am pretty patient. However, I stopped going there because once my gf and I ate there and her food came out before mine. No biggie.... The place wasn't busy, but then others that came after us got their food. Then others that came in way after us got their food. I'm still sitting here being patient until my gf finished her food (and she's a slow eater). Okay, time to leave. I went up to the cash register to pay and they said no charge for my dish. Ha! Of course there's no charge! I didn't get no dish! I didn't say that but that's what was on my mind. They provide a good amount of meat in their pho too. Their rice platters are delicious but the only downside to them is that the meat portion for it is tiny. Their bun bo hue has a lot of flavor to it and is mildly spicy and you can always ask for more pepper and shrimp paste. The menu has both english and Vietnamese so you dont have to worry if you are bad at languages. This has its own parking lot and you will not be charged to park there. I ordered the spring rolls that came with a peanutbutter dipping sauce it was delicious. I also ordered the pho 99 was in huge bowl and very good. However if you are looking for a place where the waiter checks on you often this is not the place for you. My drink ran out not even half way through the meal and no one came to check on us after the food was delivered to the table. This is a great place for authentic Vietnamese food. Before you go, please read so you know what you're getting yourself into if you decide to try this restaurant. The service isn't going to be your traditional American waitstaff. If you expect great service, then this isn't the place for you. The service here isn't bad service, but it's just different. You do have to ask the waiter when you need something. Out of water? Just raise your hand and ask your waiter for more or they'll assume you're doing fine. Need more spices? Once again, just let the waiter know and he'll get you some more. Don't be afraid to ask for anything because they're really nice. They're just not used to the American protocol of dining service, so they won't check on you to see if you're enjoying your meal. This is very typical of most traditional Vietnamese restaurants. When you're done eating and ready to pay, you walk up to the cash register and pay up there. They won't bring you your check. With that being said, I believe you aren't really required to tip at this place, because I don't think the waiters work for tips. I assume they're being paid an hourly wage for their work. If you feel comfortable enough with this type of service, then I suggest you try this place out, because I think the food is really good and cooked fresh. read more

This place felt like a Vietnamese social club. Imagine being a Shriner and showing up for a meeting without your fez. That's how I felt. The food was pretty tasty, though I've had much better pho in my travels. If I could rate the service on a scale of "lackluster to 10" I'd rate it below lackluster. It takes forever to get anything, from drink to entree. And when I finished my bowl of noodles I just sat and sat and sat. Finally the server asked if I needed a drink refill. I told them that I was just waiting for the check. Apparently they do not bring your check to you; you simply just leave the table and walk to the cash register. Also, CASH ONLY. Do not show up without the currency. To sum it up: I would not go back to Pho 99 unless I could be allowed to walk in the kitchen and dish up my meal myself so I could actually get it in a timely manner. This place is ok. Yeah, it's authentic...but in the sense that the pho you get in Vietnam doesn't have a whole lot of meat in it and the service is bare bones. This will probably satisfy your craving for pho in the most basic of ways. For me, a pho place should have cold and efficient service, while serving an awesome bowl of pho. Efficiency is hit or miss and the pho is only ok. I'll probably be back to try the rice dishes. Parking is easy and it is right next to the Viet grocery store which is pretty decent. read more
