Stopped by this ramen spot on a chilly winter day, and it was exactly the cozy meal I needed. You order up front, and then they bring your bowl right to your table. We didn't have to wait for a seat, though the food did take a little time to come out, which just made it clear everything's made fresh to order. And let me tell you, it was worth it. The ramen was super flavorful, loaded up with fresh bean sprouts, spinach, and really tender meat. The noodles had that perfect chewy texture. That said, the ramen was decent, but nothing to write home about. The base bowl of Tonkatsu ramen was a decent price but add-ons were pricey for what they were so even with just two seemingly basic add-ons I paid I think $18 for the bowl. Great little downtown spot for a date night if you're not sure what to eat. My fiancée and I always come here whenever we want a sure fire delicious meal that won't hurt the wallet. Service is always quick & friendly and I've never once left unsatisfied. Two of us can eat with an appetizer for under $25. Hard to find nowadays. The Spicy Ramen is always my go to. We ate here for my sisters birthday lunch. The service was horrible. The girls at the register were very rude, and not helpful at all. They had earbuds in and were on their phones. I was asking about a new menu item, and the one girl whispered to her coworker, "oh here we go". I asked if cabbage was cooked in the chicken katsu, and the one girl said yes, I don't like cabbage and I wanted to switch it out, she said it was cooked with the chicken, it was not. It could have been left off the plate. They were very very rude to our small group. A fork was dirty and I asked to get a clean one, she gave me one, and put the dirty one back in the bin with all the clean ones. We will never be going back. I've been coming here regularly since they opened, as well as the other family restaurant on Woodruff. Still love the food when it's available (their spicy ramen is my hands down favorite, and I've been to famous ramen places in many big cities)...they are one of our go to weekend meals. For several months earlier this year, they switched out the noodles to some strange noodles. They seem to have shifted back to the original noodles. They also changed their tempura batter, which used to be the best in Greenville, but is now just average. More and more, they are out of several key menu items. Last weekend, it wasn't just food items they were out (veggie and chicken karaage) of...it was spoons. No spoons in a soup restaurant? The chairs are falling apart...need some serious new seat covers. I really hope these issues can be resolved, as Greenville truly needs to hold on tightly to these SC owned restaurants, especially unique options like Menkoi. I will continue to visit on my almost weekly calendar, however I truly hope they get back to their original standards. Still one of my favorites, just no longer predictable or consistent. read more

i've been coming to the woodruff location for years and tried this one out in early 2024 and i honestly love these restaurants. today they were pretty much slammed and out of everything and the rice balls were a little messy but the taste is always consistent and the portions are well worth it for the price. the service are always polite and nice even when they're busy. read more

On the hot summer day, I decided to get their curry dish, it is good full of rich curry flavor and just a hint of spice, I love it. Then I am still hungry so I ordered all ordered the cold Udon dish, the noodles were nice and bouncy, the sauce was salty and slightly sweet in a good way. The service was excellent, the cashier/sever was great, you can tell she cares about her job. Since this is on the counter ordering place but don't forget to tips them, they do bring the food and help you in other ways. Lastly the seating are mostly clean. I really like when you about to walk, they have display on the window to show their food, this reminds me of restaurants in Japan. However I do have to agree with one reviewer who said the broth needed more flavor. It is a fish base broth with other broths having a chicken base. So if you are veggie based this is not the place for you . We also ordered the shrimp shumai and that was very tasty and fresh with the steamed shrimp on top. Located at the top of N. Placed an order for pickup (tried delivery but it wasn't working). Unfortunately I couldn't find parking anywhere because it was Friday at 7pm and the street in front of the restaurant was closed off. I couldn't walk very far because of a recent surgery (didn't affect my driving) but it did affect walking very far. I called Menkoi almost in tears to cancel my order and the man that picked up the phone was so kind. He calmed me down and asked what he could do to help. He continued to make sure I found a safe place to park and brought my order out to me almost two blocks away. Customer service goes above and beyond. I've always eaten at Menkoi Ramen House, so this was my first time at Menkoi Noodle House and it was amazing! I came right as it opened for dinner at 5PM and the service was friendly and prompt. The meals are sooo cheap at $6-$8 for each bowl. We ordered spicy ramen, spicy pork udon, shrimp tempura, and takoyaki. I've always gotten the spicy ramen at Menkoi Ramen so I wanted to try something new with the udon. Honestly, it wasn't what I expected at first. It was more spicy and sour, and not as creamy as the ramen, but the more I ate it, the more I liked it. The noodles had an amazing texture that went really well with the seafood broth. The pork was thick and fatty, so yummy. The shrimp tempura was crispy and delicious with the sweet tempura sauce. The takoyaki came out hot and fresh. It was crispy and delicious, but they used a different sauce than I'm usually accustomed to. The spicy ramen was delicious as always--full of garlic flavor and umami yumminess!
