Thai is probably my favorite cuisine and specifically I'm addicted to Thai green curry. I'm very particular and am often let down when restaurants slack on the creaminess/richness of the curries. I've yet to experience that here. I've tried most of the curries offered here and they are all very rich and flavorful! The Drunken Noodle is delicious as is the basil fried rice. They nail the landing on coconut soup and as recently offered with dinner egg drop soup. I've never been much of a fan of egg drop soup but Tifudi changed my mind! I'll enjoy theirs any day which makes me wonder if this is what egg drop soup should really taste like. Tifudi raises the bar on so many dishes. Being from Atlanta and constantly on the road, there are only a couple of standout Thai restaurants that would keep bringing me back and Tifudi is one that makes the list of about 3 top favs, which says a lot! The service is always pleasant, the restaurant is always clean and the food is top notch! Grateful to have this place close by.

I always try to give a restaurant at least twice before leaving a less than stellar review. Well…read morenow I've tried them a couple of times and I'm still not impressed. The food is okay, not great. The service a bit of a mess, the ambiance is okay. Our table ordered Drunken Noodle which was good, red curry and green curry. We also had a coconut soup and an order of baby egg rolls. My favorite part of the meal was the baby egg rolls and that's kinda sad. My companions ordered Thai teas and I got sweet tea which my tea was fine. Hubby's drunken noodle was actually pretty good. My green curry (with tofu) was fine but the rice was mushy. We also got a mango sticky rice for dessert but it seemed the rice was leftover from yesterday maybe. I wish I had better remarks but again, this is not my first visit and I had similar complaints the first time. As far as service, the servers were nice enough and I think for the volume of patrons they were doing okay but it still was a bit of a mess. They were doubling the work trying to cover all tables when maybe they should've had separate sections. I think that would've quelled some of the overlap like both servers working to refill my tea and by the time one had, the other was coming with the pitcher. This next part is the fault of the kitchen. I watched table after table get served their dishes scattered, where one person would get theirs while the others at the table were waiting for theirs to come. Some would wait for the others to be served but some would go ahead and start eating ahead of their party. This happened the last time I was there as well. That needs to be tightened up. Personally, I wouldn't go back. The experience was a bit of a drag. We regretted ordering dessert as it took so long to come and we were antsy to get out of there by the time it came. The food was good enough but it could've been so much better and the service stayed afloat but certainly could be better.

No worries, the Staff at Thai Spice were very helpful in recommending dishes that we might enjoy. We absolutely loved the food. When my son visited I was sure he would not want to eat there, he is so picky, but he loved it! Now when he visits he wants to know when we are going to eat there again! If I am feeling ill I get the Tom Kai Soup, I may not spelling it correctly but not sure, I always feel better, the ginger, mushrooms, you can have meat added or not, this goes for most all of the dishes. If you're a pro at Thai Food, or a novice like we still are, just ask! Everything I have had is great! You can't go wrong.

The lunch menu doesn't have appetizer options which was surprising and also cost them probably another $10-15 from our total as we might have done an appetizer and for sure coconut soups. That said, they brought out complementary spring rolls. We both had Thai teas, perfection! Hubby ordered the Drunken Noodle a notch below Thai hot which was delicious, and the Thai teas came was an excellent complement. When trying a new Thai restaurant (my fav cuisine) I always start with Green Curry (my fav dish) and if it doesn't hold up, I won't be back to try other dishes. Upon first impression, I noticed the curry with a thinner consistency, and I like mine creamy! Usually a thinner consistency lacks the punch of flavor that defines a good green curry dish. I don't know how Thai Lotus did it because of all the curries I've tried this has never happened, this green curry is outstanding! The flavor hits! I was so surprised! Yum yum yum! Our server was so sweet and everything was so delicious! The prices were reasonable, both our dishes and Thai teas, our tab was about $30+tip. I can't wait to go back for dinner service and check out some of their other menu items. We really enjoyed our lunch! Also, I love their artwork. I'm including a picture from right above our table that was just stunning! I wish I'd gotten pictures of the rest of the art series but I try not to include people in my images.

Today is Wednesday, February 11 2026, this is an updated review from a previous one I had posted…read more We loved Thai Lotus, until today. We go there frequently, we went there today for lunch, it was moderately busy, my wife ordered the lunch special fried crispy chicken with vegetables and rice, I ordered what I always order spicy eggplant with pork normal spice level, we also ordered the calamari appetizer. The appetizer came out. It was a small portion, but I had been craving it so I enjoyed it, my wife's crispy fried chicken with vegetables came out and they set the plate in front of her and walked away, about five minutes later our waitress walked by and said do you need a sharing plate? I said no I'm still waiting for my order. She gasped and said your order? I said yes spicy eggplant with pork normal spice like you wrote it down. She was shocked. She said let me check on your order. There were five other tables that came in after us. They all were served their food and after waiting 15 minutes I told the waitress cancel my order. She says well they're just starting it now. I said it doesn't matter. My wife is done eating and I no longer have an appetite. They gave us a three dollar discount on our total order and did not charge me for my dish. I was so frustrated. We loved going there, however, after this, we will not go back. The big issue is when she realized that she messed up our order. She did not make an attempt to make my order a priority while my wife's food was getting cold. They just blew it off and put me at the end of the list this is a terrible way to do business oh and by the way, I left a $1 tip on a $33 bill. We are so sad that this happened because we really like this place but we are done we will not be back.

Unfortunately it was raining SO much that we couldn't really walk around and explore the town, so I searched for somewhere close to our hotel to have dinner. We ended up at Bangkok Haus Restaurant and honestly... what a good decision that turned out to be. The restaurant serves Thai food and sushi in this really cozy, relaxing atmosphere, which honestly felt perfect after being stuck in the rain all day. The restaurant itself is super cute inside and beautifully decorated, making it feel warm and welcoming the second you walk in. We decided to go all in on sushi rolls and started with two beers: a Thai Chang beer and a Japanese Asahi. Both were super light, refreshing, and paired perfectly with the sushi. I also ordered a miso soup because honestly... there's just something so comforting about starting dinner with warm miso soup to settle your stomach. For rolls we ordered the Eel Roll, the Lady of Dawn, and the M16 roll. The Eel Roll was rich, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced with that buttery eel texture and eel sauce. The Lady of Dawn roll was super fresh and flavorful with the perfect combination of crunchy and creamy textures. And the M16 roll? SO good. Packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and honestly one of those rolls where every bite tastes different in the best way possible. I later saw online that people rave about the M16 roll too, and now I completely understand why. The service was also super friendly and fast, which we appreciated so much after a long rainy day on the road. Honestly, if you're visiting Helen and want a break from all the German food everywhere, this is SUCH a great option. Amazing sushi, comforting Thai food, good service, and a really beautiful atmosphere.

None of the spaces are marked but it's not difficult to figure out where to park. Since the lot is gravel, be aware if you have mobility issues. You can park near the entrance but not adjacent to the building so there will be at least a short walk to the door. There is also a small step up to the porch in front of the door. The pickup window is next to the entrance door which is a nice touch as the interior is small and would certainly get crowded if to go orders had to wait inside. The interior is small with table seating for about 20. There is also a small outside patio for warmer weather dining. There are several windows allowing you to look over the very near river. We got there shortly before they opened and were seated within a minute of entering. We got a nice corner table next to the river. Our servers were very pleasant. They went over the menu and specials and were very patient answering any questions. One thing to note is they do not allow substitutions, so read the menu description carefully to be sure you know what you are ordering. We wound up ordering their daily specials. Unfortunately, I forgot to take note of what they were called. One was a curry and the other included short ribs and soup. We also ordered spring rolls. The spring rolls were brought to the table in about 10 minutes. They were hot and crunchy and excellent. The dipping sauce was a touch spicy and really brought out the flavor of the spring rolls. The main dishes were brought out after about another 15 minutes. The curry dish was outstanding. The meat was tender and seasoned very well. There was a slight overall spiciness to the dish, but it quickly settled into a warm glow that simply begged for another bite. The short ribs and soup special were also outstanding. The ribs were cooked perfectly with the meat falling off the bone. The soup was flavorful and the ingredients fresh. We ate until we were stuffed and then ate a little more. We simply could not finish everything and took the last bit with us, and it was just as good reheated the next day. We also decided to take a mango and coconut milk dessert to go for later in the evening. This was a wonderful finish to a great meal. The mango was fresh and flavorful. The coconut milk and sticky rice made for a great taste texture. For such an unassuming building the dining experience would rival that of any big city. The fact it is located in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina allows it to offer an experience unrivaled by any better known restaurant. If you are anywhere near Sylva, you own it to yourself to partake of a meal at Dalaya.
