The good - an Asian Sushi place in uptown Whittier & friendly servers. The cold Asahi with frosted mugs were good. The bad - the Dolsot Bibimbap is not even as good as those at fast casual Korean places. The Spring rolls were ok. The ugly - The Pork & Egg Roll Vermicelli was terrible. The Spring Rolls in the sampler appetizer was watery and rolled loosely. The Goyza was too dry. Advice to owners, stick to sushi or Korean but don't give Vietnamese food a bad name. read more

Last night was my second time there and let me tell you I was surprised by the way we were treated. The lady that usually takes the offers was not in a good mood and I asked. Question about the pho and she made a face and cut me short and left us and went to do something else and never came to us and came around the table by us and took their orders and never acknowledged us. The man that also usually takes orders I tried to stop him and he just said wait and kept going very unprofessional and I didn't want to give them my business and I just walked about it was 4 of us and we got that treatment wow it's not our fault she was having a bad day!!! Even a lady that was sitting by herself next to us said that she didn't seem so friendly when she took her order so that just shows that she was being rude to others too. Never coming back here again!!! Went to another spot and big difference. Only cuz I have to add a star to post or else I wouldn't even give them one. read more

OMG...don't know why I even bother coming here. Every time, there's a female server with the biggest attitude problem. It's as if you're bothering her to take your order. The other male servers are nice. Don't know if she's the owner/manager but she's awful. Ordered food to go but I always tip at the end of being served to gage the percentage of the gratuity. Well....I think that got her angry because she made me wait even though the food was already done. I was furious with her poor customer service. First time trying Pho & Roll for a little sushi grubbing on a weekday. They are attentive with seating you as soon as you walk in. The restaurant is clean and more importantly the sushi bar looks clean. Don't come here starving as the food can take awhile to prepare. I was a little weary when I came across this place after noting the very mixed and extreme reviews, but I wanted to use my Uber eats credits so I went for it. I was very happy with the flawless experience! We ordered two phos plus a bunch of sushi items including tempura vegetables, sushimi and a couple of rolls. The stand out part of the experience was the meat that was in the pho. One of my main issues when I order this dish at other restaurants is how fatty the meat is and this meat was by far the leanest and most delicious I've ever had. The broth was a tad flavorless but I was perfectly fine with that short coming since the meat was lean and edible! The sushi was a mixed bag in terms of quality compared to other local places but it was all edible and overall better than not. The stand out was the baked salmon roll-delicious! The total came to $114 (Plus service fee and tip through the Uber app) for a 9- item order to feed my family of five and we even had leftovers. Happy customer here! read more

So, this place should technically be called "(enter last name)' pan Asian eatery" because they do three regional cuisine under one roof: southeast Asian, Korean/Chinese (aka dongbei), and a full sushi/ sashimi service/bar. I believe the family that owns the joint has experience running the types of kitchens mentioned and decided to amalgamate them into one offering for a customer base who's discern for "authentic" goods do not top their list when choosing what's what for lunch. I personally expected (and with good reasoning) the quality to be poor and was pleasantly surprised. Fried chicken, Korean style (gochujang sauce). 8 pcs, feeds 2 to 3 @$18. If you've never had Korean fried chicken it's worth a try here, well done, super crispy fried chicken with or without sauce. The vermicelli noodles aka vietnamese rice noodle salad. Quite good, nevertheless overpriced. Should be more like $7 not $8.99. I was in Whittier for a meeting. Got there a bit early and had time for lunch. So, I walked in Pho & Roll, there was no one around. Their broth is amazing. But you gotta come early, later in the day it's not as good. I feel like once they start running out they add seasoning and water to stretch the broth to make it through the day. Also their popcorn chicken pieces are so small that it's mostly breading. Always delicious sushi. But the service is lacking. The girls won't help you or give you bad looks if you ask for something if they aren't assigned to your table. Not sure if money is tight, but the bargain single wipe picnic napkins have to go. I think I went through a dozen. The flies were not helping with the mid-remodel looking decor. Maybe it's rearranged for their to-go order prep, outside dining , and social distancing. In any case, seating was a little weird inside and I recommend the outside...at least the flies are understandable. The rolls were all mushy, over sauced, and falling apart from lack of rice. I Always leave here satisfied with a full tummy. I've only tried their rare steak and brisket pho and their crunch rolls and they are good. I need to try all their other dishes. Their fried shrimp rice and Thai tea looks good Customer service: it's great, twice that I have been here dining by myself and they were always fast to help me and kept coming back to refill my water. We ordered a beef teriyaki bowl, a beef bulgogi bowl, garlic edamame and a 911 roll. The beef teriyaki was flavorless, the teriyaki was runny and the rice was hard. So this review is long over due. I completely love this place. Personally I think it's the best Pho I've had. This is the only place my husband and I come too. We usually do rare steak and flank. The portion is decent to where we can share a regular bowl and have 1-2 rolls and be pretty satisfied. This time around we got our usual pho and the something wrong roll. Super tasty and filling. Being that I've gotten this plenty of times I've o my been disappointed once - only because they gave me way too many noodles. The staff was super friendly and were attentive to our needs. I was sent to check out Pho & Roll by a friend, who raved about it. I'm glad someone loves this place because I am totally disappointed. I walked in about 10 minutes after they opened. I wasn't greeted or even acknowledged for several minutes. The sushi chef had to yell for someone. (After he watched me stand by the front door unhelped for several minutes...) Once I was greeted, I asked to place a to-go order, which they charge an extra $1 for btw. I was handed a menu then server disappears. I had to track someone down to place my order. I ordered 3 different bowls of Pho for my group and an order of spring rolls. I sat in the empty dining room for 20 minutes waiting for my order, which seems unnecessary long judging by how NOT busy they were. Needless to say at this point I'm not overly thrilled with this joint but I'm ready for some Pho so I press on. Now let's talk about buyers remorse... 1-No basil leaves given. However they are happy to load the soup AND the sides with heaps of cilantro. 2-BLAND. I'm on 5 limes and it's barely palatable. The chicken is flavorless, dry and chewy. 3-My spring rolls were still half frozen. I understand the concept of food preparation. However, this is unacceptable. I could barely bite through the rice paper because it's so gummy. These are things I've never experienced at any other Vietnamese restaurant. Maybe it's because they're a fusion restaurant? Not sure, but I don't accept it. On top of being several dollars more expensive than all comparable eateries in Whittier, their food and service are subpar.
