We ordered our typical Vietnamese stand bys: pho#1, pork vermicelli with egg roll, an lid a pork chop rice plate. Overall we were a bit underwhelmed by the food. The pho was salty and didn't have much in it; the portion was also meager considering it was labeled "large" on the receipt (to be fair, it's one size only). Usually #1 is the combination pho but in this menu, all it comes with is rare steak. The pork vermicelli was the best thing we ordered, and the pork in this dish was tender. Oddly, the pork chop was dried out and not flavorful even though you'd think it was the same cut of meat. If we were to come back, I'd get the bun dishes but probably skip the rest. read more

Solid Vietnamese standard items in this small strip mall spot. What excites me most, though, is that Pho Avenue offers bánh xèo, a crispy, savory Vietnamese crêpe that is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes (and surprisingly rare among the large number of Vietnamese restaurants in the Bay Area). I won't claim the bánh xèo here as exemplary - I think they use a mostly wheat flour batter rather than the more traditional (though trickier) rice flour batter - but they definitely scratch the itch for this hard-to-find item. The combination Wonton noodle soup was a large portion enough for two meals. It came with two shrimps, beef meatballs and chicken. The broth was bland so adding housing sauce helped. Hidden in the corner of a run down plaza, the food was...interesting. The mango smoothie was 75% orange juice. The viet coffee was 90% black coffee. The typical vegetables with pho were stale. However, the portion sizing of the pho was awesome. While the taste was quite average, each bowl of pho was huge, making the 16 bucks relatively worthwhile. Wow, the curb appeal and recent reviews really set a low bar and even lower expectations, but it was actually a really good lunch. The parking lot is tiny, it is in a wierd corner that is difficult to park in. My car is anything but large, and it was tight, even a midrange SUV would need more room. The building is kinda beat up, and the neighbors are not setting you up for a fantastic date night, but that was not what I looked for. We popped in a little after 4 when they reopen after an hour break, and the floor was still wet from mopping. Place was a little older and beat up, but seemed clean (I am pretty picky) We ordered a Pork Chop rice plate, pork sandwich and combination pho. Portions were huge, and actually pretty good. Value was pretty darn high for me, the sandwich was far better and cheaper than anything from the subway next door, and the bread was just perfect. This place is a very straight forward pho restaurant, also sells smoothies and other Vietnamese style drinks. Very reasonably priced, don't get as much of these days so a great gem in the neighborhood. Cute A frame location, I think used to be a steakhouse? The lady kept asking me to order later. Because soup will be cold. I said no worry, just put in order. Then she come again when noodle is ready but soup not yet pour since my friend not arrive to confirm that I really want noodles sitting and waiting. Now, this is a person with quality in mind!!! Not just trying to make money get you out of the restaurant. For this reason, I will come here again! My friends wanted to eat fast and less hot noodle so I still insist having the noodle first. Came here with my wife looking for a good Pho. I was very disappointed with our experience here. The problems just added up. I ordered the Pho Special which is essentially a traditional Pho. My wife ordered the seafood Pho. My Pho came out looking and smelling good, but unfortunately was very average in terms of flavor. I normally don't add Hoisin to my Pho as I think it takes away from the flavor...but I had to do something this time around to just make it exciting. It failed. My wife's Pho, was inedible. Truly atrocious. To make it worse, the shrimp in the soup was not deveined. My wife was just going to fish (no pun intended) the seafood out and eat that, but the shrimp had the full poop vein intact. Disgusting. She did not touch it more than a spoonful, and the server never came back to check on her and ask if it was good. Even at the end when she came to clear the table as clearly saw the bowl was full, never asked if everything was ok. This is poor attention by the wait staff. I would not recommend this place at all. There are like 5 Pho places in the area, do not waste your time with this one. read more

My go-to Vietnamese noodle spot in Mountain View! Since moving to this area two years ago, I had resigned myself to the fact that good pho would have to be a drive away to Sunnyvale/ SJ/Milpitas. However I was pleasantly surprised that this walkable eatery fulfills my pho and bun bo hue cravings! While a few dollars more than I am used to paying, the clean, convenient location and satisfying pho broth make it worth it to me. The bun bo hue broth could be richer, so we usually ask for some extra shrimp paste on the side. Okok this place is FIRE. After trying another pho place and being sorely disappointed, I was still looking to fulfill my craving. I ordered through Uber Eats and they were quick to finish the order and send it off with a courier. The amount of stuff given is very generous! Even for the regular bowl there's a ton of noodles. I ordered the beef stew (bo kho) which is hard to find, and my god it was SO good. The broth was so flavorful but still light and not overly salty, almost a little bit sweet, probably from the carrot. The beef inside was sooo tender, I've had bo kho where the beef is just a dry brick. It was just absolutely perfect. However, the older lady seems to be in a foul mood and was scowling the whole time we were there. Very good Pho. Went with the mix of all meat because I couldn't decide. It is advantageous to order the large for only another $1-$2, massive portions.
