The banh mi itself tasted good, but I wish there was a bit more meat inside to balance out the bread and pickled carrots and daikon. The fries unfortunately didn't travel well with the to-go order and ended up soggy instead of crispy. Overall, it's still a decent spot for a quick and convenient lunch. But, by the time we finished our meal, there was only 2 other tables that came. We ordered: - Special Vermicelli with Lemongrass-Marinated Tofu: This was okay and the portion size was big. The description said "eggrolls" but it only came with 1 eggroll. The eggroll also was kind of small. Make sure you ask for extra fish sauce otherwise the noodles will be dry. - Lemongrass Beef Banh Mi: the portion size was small for the price and was served on a basket. The bread was good, but we wouldn't get this again. Also, we were wondering how sanitary the basket that it was served on was (seems hard to clean, etc.) We would have felt better if the basket had some sort of disposable liner or plate. When you eat, the food may fall back into the basket, etc. They have fruit/cucumber water. We were the only table there for awhile and no one checked in in us. Walked in on Saturday afternoon 2pm for a late lunch, the "No MSG" sign attracted my attention right after I walked in. Inside fast food theme, simple and clean ! The staff welcomed us right away and let us to pick our seats. She provides menu and drinks right away. And we ordered pho noodle and Banh Mi. The pho is good but without any "wow" highlights for the first bite. However, the "NO MSG" 100% approved by my stomach for after eating experience. Finally got a chance to try this newer pho place in our 'hood. I'm recovering from a cold and nothing beats some warm pho to help soothe the congestion and calm a cough. Walked in and it had a familiar vibe as it used to be a Burger King that we frequented! The basic layout is still the same which is not a bad thing. There's a very spacious dining room that is well lit and adorably decorated, and even a drive -thru! Service was friendly and quick. We ordered two bowls of pho (beef steak and meatballs without the meatballs, and beef steak with brisket instead of meatballs) and one pork belly banh mi sandwich. I liked how they were able to accommodate our special requests. Everything was fresh and tasty! The pho was a very ample serving size with a good amount of meat. One minor disappointment is that the plate of fresh vegetables (mint, bean sprouts, lemon wedges) did not include jalapeno slices. The sandwich had lots of filling. Subtracting one star because of the automatic 10% service charge, in addition to several signs around the restaurant asking us to leave tips on the table. What has happened to the banh mi here? I have ordered the tofu banh mi here since it opened. It's gotten more expensive and the sandwiches are worse each time. This time my Banh mi smelled as if they put that fake popcorn butter on it. Asked for some nuoc cham dipping sauce, and the server didn't know what that was. We got the beef & meatball pho, plus the special pho and a beef vermicelli bowl. All three dishes tasted great! We didn't have room to try a banh mi on this trip but maybe next time! Menu is fairly straightforward, not too many options of each noodle dish, though there are some appetizers and snacks. We also got a Vietnamese coffee which tasted great but a tad expensive since there was so much ice. The food though I do highly recommend. Great pho and banh mi option in Cupertino. The pho came out quickly and the broth tasted flavorful without being too oily and good proportions of meat with it. The noodles were alright but tasted a bit on the dry side. They were still like this even though the noodles sat for some time and didn't sog up, which is guess is a good thing? This spot took over the old burger king and what a welcome change! The prices are a bit on the high side, but don't be scared off. They didnt really change the layout but redecorated the place. There was an amazing playlist of pop edm songs but everything had a lofi remix which was awesome. It was a little confusing walking in. Nobody tended to me, and eventually was told to seat myself anywhere. We were then brought menus and subsequently ordered. The pho came out super fast and piping hot! Beautiful broth, complex, deep, elevated. Good quality meat. On the menu, you can get it spicy. Got the "spicy" on the side which ended up being the Bun Bo Hue broth, which is good, but not what I want with my pho. The banh mi came out and it was massive! After walking at the park, I decided to have a recovery dinner at Pho Banh Mi. I came in to the restaurant at a later time so I decided to order one entree to eat at the restaurant and one entree to takeout and eat at home. I ate at the side of the restaurant and had a comfortable wooden chair that I sat on. Looking down on the table, there were unique writings on top. The entree I ate at the restaurant was the Grilled Chicken Rice Plate. It consisted of the Grilled Chicken with the House special sauce, fresh salad, and a side of entree sauce. The Chicken Rice Plate tasted amazing! The chicken was tender, moist, and the House special sauce was perfectly sweetened that made the chicken taste great! The salad had a light dressing on top and worked well with the chicken and rice on the plate. I enjoyed my dinner at Pho Banh Mi, not just because of the food, but the customer service as well. The servers were very courteous and took me in the restaurant without hesitation even though I had walked in around 8:10pm. The restaurant was closing at 9pm. I enjoyed my food dining experience at Pho Banh Mi... Great job Pho Banh Mi! At a later time, I decided to eat my Grilled Pork Plate before watching my TV show online. While there are still quite a few east san jose pho places that are better, I'd say Pho Banh Mi is off to a great start so far. The servers happily presented us with hot tea and vietnamese iced coffee as soon as we sat down. After taking a gander at the menu, I decided on the steak and meatball pho. Right off the bat, the meat quality was way better than pho hoa down the street, very tender. While there were a LOT of noodles, at least they didn't break apart while you were eating them, and I have to say the meat to noodle ratio was pretty good. The broth was clear, though, I think could have used a bit more anise flavor, but if there was MSG, I couldn't taste it. I ended up taking about half my pho home, so with the $16 price, I felt a little more justified. I also ordered some banh mi to try later. While some components of the banh mi were good, I think it needed a better balance. The meat that came in the sandwich had good flavor, but the pickled veggies, while good, pretty much overpowered the entire sandwich.
