I was told this is one of the best places to get Pho. Very disappointed. The Pho was very cloudy. It had to filmy fatty taste to it like the broth was not skimmed. Also got the Vietnamese eggrolls. They were not seasoned at all. Very bland. This is the first time I left eggrolls on my plate. The only thing I would ever go back there for would be the cake. Shocked I spent $56 on this meal for 2. so I would recommend the cake and nothing else. Very clean restaurant. A bit warm inside, but they had floor fans going. This is a great place for pho and Vietnamese food! First of all, I love the large shopping strip they are in because there's always plenty of parking, everything is well lit, and the location is very easy to find. I love that this place is also café style, where you pay at the front and then get your food. So it is definitely great for large groups. When ordering we got the grilled pork and shrimp rice plate, and though we tried to order the spicy bone broth, they ran out. I really love this place for their bone broth and it was upsetting that they didn't have what we wanted on the menu. This place really helped me when i was struggling with getting my appetite back up! Asking for spicy will actually get you spicy, and the spicy bone marrow is an all-timer for me. I love bringing friends here and having them try it. Service is quick, and the young man usually behind the counter (usually white shirt) is helpful and polite. Him and another younger guy (wearing a gachiakuta? shirt) were very kind and offered me tips on calling in, instead of online ordering to save money. Pho Binh on Westheimer is proof that not all Pho Binhs are created equal. They have filled a niche by meeting the demands of Viet seeking folks who don't want to make the trek to Bellaire while serving as a viable lunch option in the Galleria. The format is incredibly casual: pay first, eat later. Ordering at the counter only takes care of the food, but all patrons are responsible for getting their own dishware silverware and napkins. Randomly, they have a whole slew of cakes on display. They're not the typical cakes from an Asian bakery, but rather western ones (#1) that works perfectly for the majority non-Asian crowd.  They've done a good job in maximizing the seating arrangements of what would otherwise be a small dining room. There is limited outdoor seating and parking can be a challenge despite the shared lot. Food wise, there was a lot left to be desired. The pho dac biet was skimpier than I had hoped, considering dac biet sizing. The dark broth and. was very dark. Initially I was pleased with the price of the bo luc lac shaking beef, but realized even that the portions for that was on the smaller side. I also had their mi xao, which was decent but average at best. Where the food fell short the service came through. The staff was incredibly kind and was accommodating throughout the experience. I've lived in Houston on and off my whole life, and in my most recent 7 year stint I had no idea this was here, I just discovered it 2 months ago and I've already been probably a dozen times. The pho broth is VERY rich, and deep, it is the best in Houston that I've had. I have literally cured a cold with it, and the meats are great (highly recommend the meatballs). The banh mi bread is so fresh, the vegetables crisp and the meat and pate are right on point. Service is quick, and easy, they're always kind and willing to offer suggestions if you are struggling to make up your mind. Unbelievable treasure tucked away in the back of this shopping center. It's very quiet and very clean. All in all it very quickly became my go to in Houston and the prices are so low I can't even believe it. You must try. This is coming from someone who eats a lot of pho and makes pho at home. The broth good but they do themselves a slight disservice by not adding enough salt. They are worried about some customers liking it with more salt or they are not counting on the fact that the salinity drops when ingredients are added. If you go to the hot pot place next door, Happy Lamb, they salt up their broth with the expectation that ingredients will pull out the salt. If you taste their broth before putting anything in, it is pretty salty. Pho broth is the same if you make it. Pho Binh has salt shakers on the table so you can compensate for this though you aren't going to get additional msg or fish sauce. Just based on my taste, it needs more salt and maybe a little bit fish sauce for umami flavor. What does a little bit salt get you? It is like turning up the flavors around it. Unstalted broth is flat and beefy. With salt, it is like turning up the volume of the underlining flavors from the herbs that were seeped in the broth. That said, their pho is pretty good. Pho Binh is my favorite pho restaurant chain in Houston. I have been to all of them in my neighborhood. This Westheimer one is the first Pho Binh outside of Chinatown. I was here during CoVid-19 pandemic. To be specific, it was in May 2021. Restaurant restrictions were lifted by the Governor. But they still observe social distancing, mask requirement and sanitizer protocols. It was before my weekly groceries shopping. So, I needed something for my tummy. Otherwise, I'll buy a bunch of things I don't eat. I was the only customer in the restaurant, but their takeout service is non-stop. Every 3 minutes, someone walked in to pick up the food. Phone was ringing off the hook. I ordered a side order of pho soup, because bone marrow soup was sold out. And, an order of combination appetizer - half summer roll and half spring roll. Plus a salty lemonade. It was not enough food for me. But my eyes were on those dry noodle dishes. The menu board was crowded and harder to read. I squinted. Then, the helpful employee handed me the menu. The utensils were fairly clean. I could smell and taste bleach on my soup spoon. I managed to add Sriracha to overcome the nasty flavor. I LOVE eating here at Pho Binh!!! I am a regular at this point I always get the red juice which is their fresh pressed juice with beets and fruits a great detox and immunity drink. They have a meatier flavor to them than some other egg rolls I've had, which I preferred. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the combination pho. Part of it was that the broth wasn't hot enough to fully cook the one type of meat that they had wrapped separately (I assume that usually, you would add this in right when the bowl came out in the restaurant), and part of it was that the beef seemed a bit stringy and had an iridescent green color to it (I read online that this is not unsafe to eat). The only thing I like to add to my pho is hot chili oil, which is why I requested extra. But sadly they forgot to give me my extra chili oil. You know what they didn't forget? To charge me 60 extra cents for my small request. I was baffled when I receive the tiny broth container for my soup. It was barely enough. I also ordered some goyza and they were alright. First of all, I was really excited to finally try this place out. It's been on my radar for years now, with several friends suggesting it as some of the best pho in town. My boyfriend, his kids, and I came here on a whim after driving by and suggesting it for a late weekend lunch spot. The interior was nicer than most noodle houses, definitely appealing to the non-Asian crowd in that area of town. After placing our order and paying at the counter, I see a sign towards the side on a separate paper sign that mentioned lunch combos including pho, dumplings, and a drink for $10. We had at least two, maybe three items that qualified for the lunch combo, and our cashier had not said a thing about the lunch specials available, even though the items were exactly the same things on the menu. I turned around and asked the cashier why she didn't charge us the lunch combo price instead of ringing it all in separately at regular price, and she said it was because I hadn't mentioned it. She also said it was about the same price because she had forgotten to charge us for one of the drinks. No... it was more than a couple of bucks. I ask to speak to the manager, and he said the same thing as she did and also how she forgot to charged us a drink. After a bit of arguing with us, he finally agreed to return the difference. As for the food, the soup did not come out extra hot as I had requested. It was more creeping towards the warm category. The flavor of the soup was very lacking. No beefy goodness. When one of the kids was almost done eating, there was a clump of raw meat in the bottom of her bowl. When I pointed this put to the manager, he said we should have told the cashier, and that it comes served that way. Um, no. I ordered my tai raw on the side and cooked it myself because I like mine more medium. The cashier actually did ask if we wanted the one pictured rare, and we said no. Also, the pho base was not hot enough! This is why the meat did not cook properly!!!! That was the last straw. We were out of there.
