    Combo beer special

Interesting pho spot in a little plaza near the Walmart in Fairfax. We came as a party of 2 on a Saturday evening and was able to easily find a spot. You self-order from the kiosk tablet and they came out pretty quick with the food We ordered the pho, a banh mi, and some rice plate with beef and vegetables. I've had a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and this one was a bit peculiar - lots of hints of lemongrass in the pho, it wasn't bad but not really what I was expecting. The banh mi was delicious, excellent toasted bread and meat was a little tough but hearty nonetheless. The rice combo dish also had strange hints of lemongrass and otherwise not super viet, but almost Thai-like infusion. I'm not Vietnamese but I don't know how kosher that is in viet cuisine. Might jive with some folks but wasn't really a hit with us. tldr; funky viet spot with elements of thai fusion. Hit or miss depending your palate

Grilled pork vermicelli bowl with egg roll! I rarely express my self in this way, but this - THIS RIGHT HERE! This is the best so far!

This place is gem! The customer service excellent! I the presentation of food, beautiful! This grilled pork vermicelli bowl - more than delish! I don't even like Lemongrass, but everything had a wonderful balance in flavor and texture!! You just gotta try it!! The ingredients burst in your mouth! The Pho - Suberb! The best I've tasted!! I highly recommend Pho Bytes! You can't go wrong here!! This is on our list of repeats, for sure!!

I've ordered P2 Combination Pho and Joy Rolls. Combination Pho has multiple meats and they were all cooked well and did not smell at all. And they've added chopped green onion and it was good for Pho and its soup. Waitress and waiter steamed the beansprout as requested and got my orders right. The ambience was quiet and I could enjoy conversations with my friends.

Good quick bite. Summer roll and joy roll. Order both so you can taste the fragrant yummy herby summer roll and then try the joy roll its crispy little bites will kind of make your moment. Service was good, staff were nice and food came out quickly, all that accomplished while they have a sign for kitchen and wait staff on the door. I don't usually go in when I see that but I had read all the rave reviews about the joy roll. Imagine what they could do if they were fully staffed. Minimal ambience but clean tables and quick service.

Came here to try the runner up of NOVA pho wars 2025. Might say I preferred this broth to Pho Cylco bc this was lighter and fragrant rather than bold. Fair amount of meat and I also liked the noodle texture here too (chewier). The grilled pork rolls were unique since I mostly see summer rolls on most menus. Thought it would be a braised/boiled pork but it's more of a sausage. But would order again!

this place is probably my favorite pho place in the dmv. their pork is my favorite, the joy rolls and the banh mi, it's so good. i liked their grilled chicken pho, it's my go to. i've also tried the eye round which was pretty solid too. the service is fairly quick, and it's a good atmosphere to go with friends and family

We had three Bun Bo hue all of them were bland, no flavor. We added chili to give it some type of seasoning. The server actually forgot all of our beverages. I had to ask them where it was after our entrees came. He still forgot my iced coffee lol. He gave us hot tea with leaves floating , we had to request a new pot. I had to remind him of every single item I ordered Togo. Then he forgot our Togo drinks so I had to remind him I ordered beverages Togo too. Lol He never checked up on us. I ordered a passionfruit juice Togo too- it was literally passionfruit puree with 90% water. He didn't even care to shake it. Don't even waste your time. The service was a whole joke. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Bun Bo Hue beef noodles soup and beef pho soups were delicious highly recommended. The Vietnamese coffee and the Thai milk tea were good. Service is top notched, especially Nhan was very nice and courteous. Ambiance- nice, spacious, and clean restaurant. Definitely we will come back to this restaurant again.

Thai Iced Tea, Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Bánh Mì
    Steffany L.

Placed an order at Pho Bytes for lunch and tried their Thai Iced Tea and Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Bánh Mì. The Thai Iced Tea was solid--sweet, creamy, and hit the spot. The Bánh Mì, however, was just okay. The chicken was flavorful, but the overall balance was off--the bo (sauce) was too sweet and lacked any spicy kick, which I was hoping for. That said, it's not a bad spot for a quick and casual meal. The atmosphere is decent, and the menu has enough variety to explore. I'd give it another shot, but I'd probably try a different dish next time.

We were craving pho and we wanted to try the spot near ShareTea! We started with the Grilled Shrimp Summer Rolls. I did not expect them to cut them into a smaller portion, but it does make it easier for sharing. We also got the Eye Round Steak Pho and the Grilled Chicken Pho. I prefer the meat to be slightly on the rare side for pho, so it did not stand out to me when it was served fully cooked in the broth. The interior is spacious with window and table seating. They have a self ordering kiosk as well as a worker at the counter that can take orders before being seated. Overall, the service was prompt and decent.

Clean, quiet restaurant. Kiosk ordering only.
    Rachel M.

Kiosk ordering system meant little interaction with the servers, and this suited us fine. My typical dining out experiences involve constant interruptions and questions and taking plates before they're finished. You won't have to worry about that at Pho Bytes. The vermicelli bowl gives my favorite Vietnamese restaurant a run for its money. I did not like the egg roll's interior, but the exterior was perfectly crunchy and not at all greasy. Super generous serving of pork and fish sauce. All the expected vegetables. Perfect dinner on a hot, humid summer night. The shrimp summer roll was a fresh starter, ideal for sharing. Loved the peanut sauce. Look forward to trying their pho next visit!

Pretty expensive for the size of their bowl, compared to other pho restaurants this place is more expensive.

Nothing exceptional but good quality, good food And a fair amount of steak in mine for $16. I wish I could say the same about the service or lack there of provided by the two young female servers. For starters, they have zero communication skills. They drop things at the table and just stand there without a word. I did not receive the Vietnamese coffee that I ordered until I asked for it nor was I asked whether or not I wanted it with whipped cream - there's was no description on the menu so I wasn't aware it came with whipped cream. When we placed our order we asked for extra cilantro and received no cilantro at all. Once the runner delivered our food no one came over to ask how everything had turned out, if we needed anything else etc. The lack of communication, lack of attention to detail and quite frankly complete lack of personality turned a pleasant afternoon meal into a disappointment. It's a shame because I saw several other things on the menu that I'd like to try but I'm not interested in being in that unpleasant atmosphere again

Gao actually deserves 4 stars, but I had to deduct a star because I left hungry!…read more We found Gao after running errands in the Microcenter shopping center and came in around 6pm today on a Wednesday evening for dinner. There were plenty of open tables but no staff in the front when we arrived so we stood around for 2-3 minutes waiting to be seated. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated with a subtle hint to Vietnamese culture. Like many casual Viet joints around here, there was a TV showcasing Vietnam tourism, although the TV in the back was also showing Japan tourism which was odd. We were brought two cups of water with no ice and had to request ice, which was also odd considering it was in the upper 80s outside. The menu has many Viet cuisine classics like pho, bahn mi, bun, bun bo hue, ba cua, and com tam. Although we're in peak heat of summer, I could never turn down a bowl of pho! I was a little confused as the menu was entirely in English and I usually know my order in Vietnamese and couldn't tell which English option it was as the English descriptors were kinda generic. It's a little saddening that the owners thought that a bilingual menu would be more of an obstacle than an opportunity for their customers to learn and connect with the food and culture. There might be something more there but I'll let my therapist unravel that one lol. I customized to my usual pho tai gan. Herbs, especially the basil, was very fresh and I appreciated the big leaves. The lime was kinda dry. Noodles were al dente and I like mine a little more done but the texture evened out as the hot broth kept cooking it while I was eating. The soup was good and flavorful, well balanced and not too "clean" and not too "dirty". The soup was the highest ranking component but the soup to noodles ratio was off, with too little noodles, hence, leaving me with almost half a bowl of broth and a half empty stomach by the time I finished the meat and noodles. The flank was cooked well-done and I would have preferred the traditional way of serving the meat raw in the boiling soup. My favourite ingredient in any pho is tendon and the tendon here I can only describe as displeasurable. The texture was too soft and goopy and the taste was very bland like it was added to the soup before serving instead of absorbing any of the soup flavour. It's like how honey or brown sugar boba is the norm now so when you go to a place where the tapioca isn't soaked in sugar it is a bland and unsettling taste. Overall I would rank the pho well, beating out local places like Pho Duong and Pho 4 ever, but not able to topple the OG, Pho 75. I'm hoping these quirks from my visit today are addressed to improve the dining experience and add more commitment to the Vietnamese culture.
