I come here approximately at the minimum twice a month with my family of 4 to come and eat this delicacy of heaven in your mouth. I saw this place one night when my husband and I were walking our dogs down Mission Gorge. No strangers to Pho we stopped in and placed an order to go. They knew we were on foot so they were nice enough to put everything in a carrying box so broth wouldn't tip over. When we got home we enjoyed a huge serving of pho with all the added extras. It was very good! Broth was very tasty there was a perfect amount noodles, and they packed us more then enough of all the fresh herbs and yummy sauces. Then again just a few weeks ago my husband and I stopped in again a few days after I had gotten some dental work done. I asked our waitress if they could possible cut up the strips of stake into smaller pieces for me since I wasn't able to chew very well and she said "yes we can cute them up," and the Pho was just a delicious as the first time we had it. We added some spring rolls and they were very good. The only thing I can say, but don't think it's a bad thing, is that the soup portions are huge so when you add spring or eggrolls your almost too full. But everything is very good and the service is wonderful! My husband and I have since moved to El Cajon but we still make the short drive to Santee to go here when we feel like some good brothy Pho. read more

At times they seem to use leftovers and half of your chicken is WAY over-cooked and dried out to the point that it isn't even edible. Like chicken jerky, perhaps. They are always great with service; quick and efficient in taking our order and getting our food out to us. Love the shrimp pho with some spice kick of Chile oil. Been coming here for a few years and we moved so we were in the area and decided to try eating here again. Disappointed with service. Took 15mins to get water and even got our order wrong. We asked for chicken and they delivered it without any chicken. Egg-rolls isn't satisfying as before, it's basically all wrapper and less stuffing on the inside. This is a fairly new restaurant and we have been here several times and the food is very good to excellent but one does need to learn how to read the menu which is a bit challenging. This last time, however, we were there a bit later in the evening and half way through dinner they start mopping the floors towards the back of the restaurant which is unappealing if you are eating. But then the smell from the water and mop wafted up and it smelled terrible. When I told the man who was doing this that it smelled bad he just laughed so I told him he should put it all away while people were eating which to his credit he did. Before this last visit I would have given them a 4 star rating but for me a cardinal sin in a restaurant is when they start cleaning and sweeping while people are still eating. That is unforgivable and negates any good qualities that their food may have had. The two other issues that turn me off to a restaurant is the use of spray bottles to clean table tops, Nothing worse than a nose full of cleaner while you are eating. and the other is their use of these large carts loaded with trays full of dirty dishes which they park right next to you while they scrape plates and stack dishes from another table.. The people are very nice, the place looks very clean, their food is good but they need to change their cleaning and table busing processes before I will go back. Food was mediocre at best and the service was beyond embarrassingly bad. My waiter threw menus at me and my other friend and walked away abruptly. When I asked if they served a specific item, one of the workers shook his head rudely and went on to explain that this is a Vietnamese restaurant and that I should know that they don't offer whatever I was asking about. When we finally got our orders in and our food came out, the worker threw the food at us and walked away not even bothering to give us water or ask if everything was good. When we asked for water, we were given stern looks as if we were bothering him. I don't want to bash every worker there one of the girls at the end that helped us was very kind and attentive. However, this one worker made our experience very awkward and unwelcoming. We felt like they just wanted our business and wanted us to leave very soon after. If you're coming for take out you'll be okay and satisfied but I DO NOT recommend dining in. If I could give zero stars for the service today I would but unfortunately that's not an option. Pho ca dao santee you better get your act together before you lose all your regular customers soon! That's all I've got to say! You've got lots of competing restaurants in Convoy with much better service and higher quality food. read more

thank goodness for this pho places!! it is pho--king amazing! I come here at least once a week and get the k5 which is the chicken rolls which are so yummy and refreshing, and I get the P25 which is pho with a side of grilled steak which is so well seasoned and tender. The flavors are really good together. I also love that it is never overly crowded. The staff is always really helpful and nice but sometimes it takes awhile for them to understand what you are asking. I usually have to do a scissor motion with my hands to explain that i would like scissors to cut up the veggies. But regardless, this place is bomb! So glad its in Santee too! read more

The food was ok...I only give it two stars because the service sucked. We were seated in a booth and then within minutes asked to switch with this couple sitting at a table because they wanted a booth. I'm sorry, but to me, that's bad customer service. Also, the waiter greeted everyone around us and completely ignored us. Luckily, the food was cheap and it came quickly but I'm still in shock at how we were asked to move to accommodate another couple. I wish the waiter(s) did a better job of walking is through the menu as it was my husbands first time trying Pho. First time here. The restaurant is really nice and was clean. I had the Pho and my husband had fried rice. The food was good. Simple and nothing different than any other Pho place. Good prices for the food. They have lots of food options. I gave 3 stars because it was basic, portion of soup bowl was pretty small, was tasty but just average. Came down to Santee from Escondido for the discount store GTM (will leave a review there later) and was craving Pho. Every city needs a pho shop if not it's not a real city. Ha! Decided to check out this spot and we really enjoy it. Affordable price, wide selection of boba teas (but honestly I always go for the Thai tea and that's what I got), broth is flavorful and rich and the rice dishes came out with a lot of meat. I got the Filet Mignon Pho and my friend got the combination rice plate where you get to choose 3 grilled items. Definitely filling. Amazing, went on Chinese new year and they gave my 1 year old son a Chinese new year envelope with a dollar. I know its not much but it was sweet and nice. This is my favorite, most convenient pho place in east county! No need to drive to other restaurants on convoy or in Mira Mesa for good pho. The chicken eggrolls($6.50), pork and shrimp spring rolls (around $4.50), and 2 "regular" (aka not super massive, but more than enough for a hungry teen) steak pho bowls is around $26! So reasonable, and the atmosphere is always quiet and uncrowded. Service staff is always nice and makes sure to keep your drinks refilled and all your needs met. read more

Rude employees. I called in a phone order and the individual had poor phone skills which I assumed was due to a language barrier. However when I arrived to pick up my order, I was still treated poorly and the order hadn't even been placed (or so it seems-no employee offered to go check on it in the kitchen). I have been coming here for years since they initially opened and have noticed the decline in good quality and service. After today, we will not be back. I appreciate quick seating and with a smile at Pho Ca Dao. Water was on the table before I could request it. The waiter kept an eye on us from a distance to see if we were ready to order, we ordered the vegan egg rolls, braised tofu with rice and my wife ordered the vegetable soup in chicken broth. Waited 20 minutes at the entrance before any staff member acknowledge we were there when there were open tables. The staff hardly speaks any English. We tried to order a coke from 3 different people, who just could not understand that basic request.
