Been here a few times this summer on college break. One of the only pho places in Delaware/New Jersey. The pho is really good. The service is super fast. As soon as you order, the food comes to the table. Not a very busy restaurant- it is clean and simple. Some of the negative comments: not so good service. Once in a while, they might come to fill up your water. The pho averages around $8-9 so it's decently priced. I would recommend it! read more

Pho was very tasty today. Good amount of broth and brisket in our orders. Summer rolls are good but keep in mind 1 order has 4 rolls (we almost ordered 2 orders). I did take out, so I can't comment on service/waitstaff. But, the food was great, low price and huge portions. I ordered shrimp summer rolls and pho tai. It could of fed 2 or 4 people... Great pho! I've dined in once and it was really quiet, at lunch time. Which I enjoy. It's very casual. Nothing fancy. But when you're usually with a 5 year old, that's a good thing. My son loves it. I have my mother to thank for my love of Vietnamese pho and spring rolls. We would come here time to time. After graduating college, This became me and my roommate's to go place! Pho Cali offers a no frills authentic menu. The bowls are quite large and I typically shared a bowl with the roommate or my sister. Honestly, a lot of places in New York don't even compare. I'd highly recommend the spring rolls--especially if they're fresh. They also have a $10 minimum for card but they've always accepted mine if I just got spring rolls. read more

I go there all the time while I'm on my lunch breaks I just order a number 6 and a Thai tea. It is almost instantaneously on your table since it's soup. Its pretty good for the Greater Wilmington, DE area. My go to place for a bowl of pho. I always get special wth everything in it. You can get tailor your pho to what you like. Large bowls are huge, so be hungry before ordering. I see they have bun bo hue and rices dishes too, I haven't tried. The decor and use a bit of an upgrade. Service is always friendly. read more

My favorite Vietnamese restaurant is in NYC. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Pho. I recently moved to DE from NJ and was looking for someplace to eat that would possibly have authentic food. I gave Pho Cali a try and I'm so happy I did. When I first walked in I was kindly greeted and sat quickly. The menu was both in Vietnamese and English. I began to feel hopeful. There were many options to choose from but of course I went with the soup. I ordered the Pho Tom. My basil and bean sprouts came out first. Next to follow was the huge bowl of amazing yumminess! The broth was super clear and extremely flavorful. It was wonderful! I added my usual fixings and dug in. I didn't want it to end. If you love authentic Pho come to this adorable little restaurant. The only thing that would have made this dish completely perfect would have been if the noodles were handmade. They were still very good. Two thumbs up. I will go back very soon... My wife was out of town for a weekend, leaving me free to eat someplace other than Panera Bread. I decided to try out Pho Cali, if only to discover for myself whether the prices were a) ridiculously high or b) extremely reasonable, and whether the service was a) terrible or b) wonderful, as the Yelp! hive-mind has vacillatingly claimed. I ordered the basic beef pho bowl, as the very solicitous proprieter / server / host informed me that it is the most popular dish. It was served hot and served quickly - and it was very tasty. The beef broth and noodles, which in and of themselves might be rather droll, were livened up with fresh basil, green onions, and a wedge of lime they provided. It was way too much food, but it was delicious - and I would say that the price was about right for the amount of food you're served. Definitely going to have to bring my wife here, if I am somehow able to drown out the siren song of Panera with the tasty temptation of Pho Cali. read more

I love Vietnamese food. This place was really fresh and, at least when I was there, the service was good. For the price, it's definitely a great deal. It makes me sad that places like this don't seem to get as much business because people like the typical restaurant food (i.e. Italian, like Cafe Napoli which is right next door). I agree with a previous reviewer, this place doesn't look clean and is well-worn around the edges. Aside from that, the pho really is sad. It's not rich and deeply flavored as I'm used to from living in little Saigon (Arlington, VA). Also, they don't offer many different cuts of beef which is part of what makes pho interesting. No beef balls, brisket, or tendon. Just thinly sliced beef that's kind of tasteless. Worst of all, I had the same problem the previous reviewer had: on one occasion the waitress said they were out of basil and bean sprouts! How can you have Pho without the basil and beansprouts??? They should take it off the menu when/if they don't have the basics. No, I would not recommend this restaurant, at least, not for the Pho. It's a watered down something, but not at all like the real thing. I noticed a few reviewers complaining that Pho Cali isn't quite upscale enough for their taste. I mean...it's in a strip mall anchored by PathMark and a Kohl's department store, so I didn't exactly walk in expecting fine dining. I did find exactly what I was looking for. Pho Cali is GOOD Vietnamese food at a decent price in a cozy sort of family dining- type atmosphere. It's funny: a couple people mentioned lukewarm broth...my broth was also tepid but flavorful, so it sort of made up for it being almost cold. I really wanted some cafe da, but I'm trying to give up dairy & I'm also watching calories. At least no one mentioned it in their reviews to make me crave it even more. :( Their menu kind of sucks if you don't eat beef or pork, pork & more pork! Also, someone mentioned the carry-out packaging dealie...I haven't had Pho "all over the world," but I have received takeout in separate containers at other Vietnamese restaurants. I think this is to preserve the freshness/flavor of the food, so that your sprouts, etc. are not wilted, or boiled to death like a traditional American "soup." Good stuff. read more

Granted, I went after they were open for only two months, so maybe they were still getting the kinks out of the system, but I can only have so many bowls of pho in my lifetime, and I'd rather go somewhere where I know the pho will be good. Broth: too "heavy" greasy, too much cinnamon Meat: good, ample portion Size: given the broth was heavy, the size was too much, not necessarily bad, but a good bowl of pho has you walking away light and energized...not this one other note: the vietnamese iced coffee was not traditionally made -- the coffee came "premade", already stirred. I could tell the grounds were not packed as the flavor was thin, with too much milk giving it a corn syrup taste. Let me preface this by saying, I love pho. I LOVE PHO. Ok. So. Pho Ha, it is not, but it's in Delaware and we don't get restaurants like this too often. It's not the best pho I've had, but it's a good, solid bowl. If it was in Philly, though, I'd be giving it a 3 - however, it's not. Often, I want Pho, but I don't feel like dealing with the traffic, the driving, and the general "citiness" of the city - this fits the bill perfectly. I love Pho Cali!! This is the most authentic Pho you can get in Delaware. While yes, I have had better pho, this is the best selection around for miles and it never disappoints. The interior looks like your usual pho restaurant, and like a lot of small pho places the server does not come around much after you get your food. They make recommendations when you ask, and they have a variety of options for those who are not huge pho fans. The eggrolls are also very good! Also for those groups with a diner who may not be a huge Vietnamese cuisine fan, there are also some safer rice and noodle options! I think I could bring anyone to this restaurant for some good food for a good price and they would be able to find something on the large menu. I would not come here expecting a four star dining experience- it is a hole in the wall restaurant in a strip mall and its pretty stereotypical of pho places in the US. Pho is a great group of dishes. However, selection in Delaware can be limited at times. Out of the several Vietnamese restaurants that are starting to pop up in Delaware this is one of the better ones. The offerings are varied with the usual standard dishes of pho and bun. The ingredients are fresh and vibrant with crisp flavors. You can also get extra pickled onions. The do have noodles such as xao don and xao mem which some of the other restaurants do not. The bun is fresh and well cooked without ending up mushy. It is bright in flavor without being too vinegary. I enjoy eating at this new place. The Pho Ga is made well with roast chicken and flavorful broth. The noodle are firm and not mushy. i would definitely get the extra pickled onions with the dish. read more

The takeout is amazing and fast too. I always get the Pho Tai Chin Nam (three types of beef, one raw that cooks in the superhot broth), an order of the summer rolls which are awesome and served with warm peanut sauce (Excellent touch) and an iced coffee. I enjoyed it for my first time eating at Pho Cali, the service was fine, besides, I was busy eating my Bun Bo Hue to notice whether the waiter asked me for refills or not. The Bun Bo Hue was pretty good, decent size portions; I didn't really taste any hint of lemongrass, but I wouldn't say the broth was bland, that's just my opinion. Some people have been to the various pho places in Philly, and say the best pho in the area is found there so maybe that should be next on my pho list.The only thing I added was some chili paste and the side veggies they bring you (Basil, jalapeno, bean sprouts and lettuce) still a pretty tasty bowl of pho, and comparing it with Pho Nhu Vu, the latter might edge the other out just a tad flavor wise. I will be going back, the prices are good and I love pho. June, 10, 2012 I returned to Pho Cali, they have refurbished the booths and redone some of the decor, and it looks very nice. Came with a couple of co-workers who has never tried Vietnamese cuisine so they were quite impressed with the food here. The food is good, definitely satisfies my pho cravings. They have no other competition so they do pretty well during lunch. The portions are okay; I didn't get a lot of noodles in my pho and I'm used to the thinly sliced round eyed rare steak. Also, there's no sizes. Just one regular bowl, no option for the large like they do in Philly (not that I would get the large, but still). Price of the regular is the same as Philly's large :\ hrmmm. Set in a strip mall, they seem to have a branding issue as the signs alternately describe it as "Vietnamese Cuisine" or as "Pho Cali." We have had pho in many places. California, Mississippi, Maryland, Florida, and other places in between. The pho is acceptable. Broth was decent meat was low quality and not much portions were adequate but not huge Low quantity of noodles If you want a decent pho meal, not bad. I wouldn't go out of your way, but you don't have a lot of choices in new castle for quality pho. The other place we tried was awful (this was pho restaurant 2 on our stay and experience). So far, this is the better of the two and saigon was closed. Want to try that before I leave here. read more
