I really like going here for the Pho or Bun Bo Hue and also the avocado milkshake and durian milkshake. The pho and bun bo hue are both tasty broth with meat and noodles. I like to order the Pho Dac Biet because it comes with soft beef tendons and various cuts of meat. If I'm feeling spicy, then I'll order the Bun Bo Hue that comes with thicker noodles, pig feet, pork blood, and pork meatloaf (cha lua). The portions and prices are very reasonable and the prices are fair. I also like that they provide a ton of veggies, including beansprouts, basil, lime, cabbage and banana leaves. Impression: had no idea such a traditional Vietnamese restaurant was nestled between the goodwill and assi on pleasant hill but this gives you all the feels of a family restaurant with very traditional decorations and authentic dishes. We got a large ribeye steak and brisket pho, the shrimp steamed rolls, and pork rolls. We also finished off with a combination dessert. The service was fast and the food came out fresh- flavors were concentrated and good. Definitely a solid pho place here in Duluth. Broth was excellent. Service: plenty of waiters all wearing the magenta polo with black pants- who whisk away your finished plates and bring you your dishes fast and fresh. I like that it has a family feel- seemed like family friends who worked here- even the customer base was old people with children rather than a young crowd you'd find in satellite- so this had a very traditional and cozy feel. Interior- loved the overgrown bamboo that hid the bathroom sign- just shows this place has been here awhile and is a solid place to stay around on competitive pleasant hill. Seats were the old school black metal chairs with pastel pink cushions from the 80s and 90s style. Even the chandeliers and the statues made you feel super traditional. Pho- loved the broth. A good strong one where they definitely didn't skimp on spices and didnt skimp on brew time. The noodles didn't over cook and broth was hot enough to cook the bean sprouts and basil that came with the side. Great food and service! The filet Mignon rice plate is soo good and addicting, my favorite dish there. Very tender meat, and the egg fried rice is perfectly seasoned. We love that high heat fried rice where each rice grain is imperfectly yet perfectly fried and coated with seasoning and eggs, not mushy nor sticking together. We were extra hungry, and the pho and rice plate definitely hit the spot. The pho was very good, a lightly beefy and flavorful soup with tender meats and tendons. They are quite generous for the meats, onions, vegetables, and lime! The Thai tea tasted great! I prefer it a little creamier, but it was still packed with a delicious thai tea flavor. I came to Pho Dai loi to get lunch with a friend having never heard of it. Although I don't eat a lot of pho, I can still discern good and bad tasting pho. This place was definitely high on the good tasting scale! the inside looks like a very traditional Asian restaurant with lots of decorations all over the place and it was also very clean. We were seated as soon as we walked in and immediately presented with menus. I took a while selecting what I wanted but it was nice that there was 2 servers who asked if we were ready to order which shows that service here is fast and attentive. I went with a medium sized beef rounds and flank for my pho. The wait time was short and the bowls of pho were pipping hot. I was surprised at how much meat I got compared to other places I've been to as I was quickly running out of noodles for my meat! The broth here was smooth and hearty with each sip warming my body on the cold rainy afternoon. I've now completed the Pho Dai Loi Trifecta by visiting all three Pho Dai Lois. Pho Dai Loi 1 in Forest Park, Pho Dai Loi 2 on Buford Highway, and Pho Dai Loi 3 in Duluth on Pleasant Hill. Menu is virtually the same at all three: appetizers consisting of Vietnamese egg rolls and spring rolls, 20 different varieties of pho, and about a dozen different varieties each of bun (vermicelli rice noodles) and com (rice dishes). There isn't too much difference between the different types of pho, bun, and com -- just a simple change of ingredients here and there. Pho Dai Loi also offers a decent selection of Vietnamese beverages and desserts, such as che (puddings) and smoothies. On my first visit to Pho Dai Loi 3, I tried one rice dish along with my favorite pho: a large pho dac biet (#5 on the menu), which is pho with everything -- eye round steak, well-done flank, marble brisket, soft tendon, and bible tripe. No matter what type of pho you order, Pho Dai Loi 3's pho is all priced the same: Small - $5.50 Medium - $6.50 Large - $7.00 These are very reasonable prices and beats most comparable pho noodle shops around town. The size of the large bowl is also in line with other Ls and XLs as well. Sides served with the pho include culantro, basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno, and lime. Bottles of hoisin sauce and Sriracha sauce are provided at the table. Chili garlic sauce, which I like to dip my meats into, is not provided. Some pho restaurants provide this at the table, but Pho Dai Loi 3 does not. You can ask for it and they'll bring some out from the kitchen. The bowl of pho was satisfying, though I was a little disappointed in the broth. It was a bit bland and not as flavorful or fragrant as I'm used to, especially from a chain like Pho Dai Loi. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, though, as it may have been an off night. Quality and proportion of meats and noodles were adequate and the sides were fresh. I asked for more culantro (I commonly do this) as I love the stuff so much and they, at first, brought me a bowl of chopped cilantro and spring onion. I love that stuff too, so I dumped it in my bowl even though it's not really meant to be eaten with pho. Then after I clarified with them I wanted additional culantro, they brought me out a plate of that as well. Their main rice dish (#36 on the menu) was pretty decent: com tam bi cha suon nuong trung ga -- broken jasmine rice with shredded roast pork, grilled pork chop, steamed omelet, and eggs, sunny side up. The rice dishes come with a small bowl of fish sauce which you can pour over the steamed rice to give it more flavor. The rice had appetizing consistency. The roast pork was essentially shredded into noodles and had a unique, somewhat rough texture. The omelet, also known as "Vietnamese meatloaf," was delicious. If you're looking for an alternative to noodles, Dai Loi's rice dishes certainly suffice. Service was good. I visited on a Wednesday night just before closing (9:30pm) and there were only 3 tables of customers and plenty of staff. All tables stayed past closing time, but they didn't pressure us out. The pho came out almost immediately. The com took maybe 3-4 minutes longer. Clean restrooms. In the end, Pho Dai Loi 3 is solid, but doesn't really differentiate itself from all the other pho restaurants in the area (e.g. What the Pho, Taste of Pho, Pho 24, I Luv Pho, etc.). They're all about the same to me. All are good. Pho Dai Loi 3 is located in a shopping complex southeast of Assi Plaza (further down Pleasant Hill, away from the interstate), just past the Chick-fil-A Dwarf House. I'm on a mission to try all the Pho Dai Loi's in Atlanta. This is the second one I've been to, although I don't think I will ever make it to the one in Forest Park... 2 and 3 are at least within metro Atlanta. I love pho and I really enjoy the broth at Pho Dai Loi 2. It wasn't any different here. The broth is meaty and flavorful, noodles and meat plentiful. If they don't have the combination of meat you want, you are welcome to ask for the ones you want. My biggest problem was that it was June. It was 80ish degrees outside and humid as hell. And they didn't turn on the AC. There were some ceiling fans near the entrance, but not in our corner we were seated at. I had been craving pho so I ordered hot pho. Unfortunately, it made for an uncomfortably warm dining experience. There was not enough ice water in the restaurant to cool me down. I regretted not ordering a cold dish (aka, dry vermicelli). My second biggest problem is the heavy smell of incense. I'm not going to not eat at a restaurant if they have a different view as me, but the smell of incense was so uncomfortable. Eventually, I got used to it, but as much as I'm sure they were being respectful to their ancestors, I didn't feel respected. Pho is pretty much part of the American culture now. I remember them mentioning it once in an episode of Modern Family and I thought that was pretty cool. Pho Dai Loi 3 is one of the few good pho places in the Duluth area and there are tons of options to choose from that are located on Pleasant Hill road itself. This place is my opinion is slightly above the competition. The menu here has tons of options that would make a Vietnamese person proud. There's way more than just pho here, its okay to google the items you don't know if you are feeling adventurous. The soup broth is very savory and to the liking of my taste palate. I use to live closer to the city and had been going to Pho Dai Loi 2 off of Buford Hwy for yearssss until I moved to Lawrenceville/Lilburn area and discovered they had another location. The Pho is as authentic as you can get. I've had various items off the menu and every time, I am delighted to have tried them. Many a pho place boasts about being the it factor but how pho is to be gauge is in terms of broth flavor. If there's a strong beefy flavor that's accentuated by the fish sauce, and there's a savoriness to it, it's good. It has to be rich, clear, and piping hot. That being said, I've been to Pho Dai Loi 2 and wanted to try a place different from my go to places and truth be told, I wasn't too impressed with PDL3. Here's the reasons why I found this place to be a bit of a letdown. The pho itself didn't thrill me. In fact, for whatever reason, the noodles didn't quite measure up with how I was hoping for. They were soggy for some reason and it was like slurping up mush and there wasn't that chew that we all expect pho noodles to be. A 40 second flash boil and then the broth goes on top and then serve. It didn't seem like that and the way the noodles felts soggy only confirmed my suspicions. The broth itself was also a bit of a let down. I didn't taste the balance of flavors between the cinnamon, star anise, ginger, onions, and such that the broth is supposed to send the eater through. The broth is supposed to provide this warm, flavorful, deep, rich feeling that leaves the customer feeling calm and soothed as the sumptuous broth is slurped. This broth wasn't sumptuous at all. It was just a "meh" type of feel to it and wasn't a satisfactory feeling. It's not that it was a bad but it wasn't great either. It was light and savory but it lacked a sumptuous richness other pho places have. It was also telling that at the end of dinner time, there was a lack of customers as the place seemed like it was winding down and it was close to about 8:00pm or so. Overall, think of PDL3 as your gateway drug into the world of pho. It's good for beginners but luckily, Gwinnett County offers so many more pho options all within about 5-15 minutes of each other. Best bet would be to use Yelp (see what I did there?!) and find other ones that Yelpers will say have a more richer, deeper broth. For the more experienced pho eaters, use this place as a quick stop shop that is about being more filling than satisfying and if you have experience, you know where to look. read more

The place is busy so I felt like it would be a good place to get pho. Ordered beef pho with flank steak and meatballs. Used to having the steak come out raw and putting it in the hot broth, but they brought it out already in the broth cooked. The broth itself lacked depth of flavor sadly which surprised me because there is no dearth of women serving you there that I bet could make a seriously delicious complex pho broth with a depth to the flavor. The garnishes provided were thai basil, one culontro leaf, two jalapeno slices, bean sprouts and one lime wedge. We had also ordered bun with barbecue pork and shrimp and cha gio. The garnishes were for both dishes I assume because we did not get seperate garnishes for the bun dish. I am used to having more jalapeno, cilantro, egg mint, (which I actually won't eat because I don't like the flavor), but for both dishes I found the garnishes to be a bit lacking. The bun dish came in a big bowl with a whole lot of vermicelli, large slices of pork on top and exactly two shrimp on top and shredded lettuce on the bottom of the noodles. If a dish is supposed to include shrimp I feel like a sufficient amount of shrimp would be at least six. They were tasty though. The pork had a great taste but was in large chunks on top of the dish, and I was sharing with another person, who proceeded to eat most of the pork, leave a lot of noodles and lettuce at the bottom and we each had one shrimp. I wish the pork had been cut into smaller sizes and more tender because it would've been easier to blend with the voluminous amount of noodles provided. The cha gio was good. Not as crispy as I have had in the past and had probably been in a warmer so was on the tough side. But I ordered two orders to go. Probably will eat the last of them today. I love cha gio. Seriously and this was definitely good enough. This place sort of felt like a waffle house of Vietnamese diners, in that people come in because the food is reliable, there's a lot of it, at a pretty fair price and they stay really busy but they're definitely lacking in some of the flavor, garnishes and such that I've had in the past including the option for ribeye steak in your beef pho being cooked in the broth at the table. I also feel like the staff is a bit overworked and a bit frustrated. I feel like if more restaurants listened to their staff and took suggestions they would fair a great deal better in the long run.
