There was a lot of hype surrounding this place, so we came to check it out ourselves. We came here early on a Sunday evening. Outside was sort of warm, but inside was freezing cold. Let's just say that, it was cooler than other restaurants tend to be. Jiang Nan is a franchise that achieved Michelin guide status in other cities, but I feel as if even if they achieved it in the guide elsewhere it might not be the same result here. Jiang Nan is going for the high class of Chinese food, which for sure I have nothing against. But, there's just something about it that to me they just came out to be just okay. The service was great, they were very accommodating with everything. What lacked for me was the food. Let's see what I got. 1. Half peking duck - If you bought the full one, they'll pull out all the stops and slice it in front of your table. However, due to the cold temperatures of the restaurant, your food comes out hot, and very quickly that heat of the food is now cold. So you might see some fat there condense and well, it doesn't look so great after that. 2. Vegetable Stir Fried Udon Noodles - Same goes with the noodles. Came out hot, later on went cold. 3. Green Beans - Temperature on this one didn't matter too much. I thought it was plenty flavorful and this dish is always a delight. Went well with rice. 4. Whole fried fish/stew - Whole fried fish, but then rested in a broth that was mediocre. I thought there would be more flavor but it felt really melted down. I think it could have been the oil. However, it wasn't bad, just not what I expected. 5. Order of XLB - Didn't eat because it tasted chemically and I believe the meat was bad on the XLB. However, from the look of it the skin was very thick so keep that in mind that these XLB aren't really skin skinned. Plus, it got cold pretty quickly. Overall, Jiang Nan was alright. I don't see myself coming back. Chinese food should cost more especially for courses that take so much work to make. I think they put more emphasis on the place being upscale and also service. So, if you're looking for the face of it as far as being to shell out for service and okay food, this place could definitely be a place to check out.
TLDR: Food is strived to be healthy so quite plain, portion is small while attempting to be "fine" dining. Some dishes are better than others while many dishes are mediocre. Our family stopped by for lunch and it was fairly quiet. The place is designed to be "fine" dining. We tried the following dishes (in no particular order) : -Whole peking duck, while the advertise picture shows this nice brown/golden crispy skin, what came to our table is not the same. The fire show and the cutting at the table is entertaining though. The duck is served with Mandarin pancake wrap. 6/10 since it was dry and the skin was not crispy enough. We chose the salt and paper duck bone as the second dish. -Deep fried Japanese tofu with mixed seafood sizzling plate was good because the tofu was perfectly fried with crispy skin and still soft inside. But the seafood topping was sad to look at. 5/10 -Braised beef flank with potatoes is probably the only dish that was seasoned well. The beef is tender. I enjoyed this one. 7/10 -Chicken and fish maw soup is quite refreshing and light. 7/10 -Walnut shrimp - lightly fried and was plain, but only 8 shrimps for the order. 5/10 -Salty egg yolk prawn - I think there was 7 prawns. The coating is light and salty. Ohh the second seasoned dish. 5/10 -Sautee tofu with crab meat - the crab meat sauce was too much, but not well seasoned. It was just very buttery. 3/10 -Chili Wonton - 4/10 filling was underwhelming and sauce wad the peanut sauce version. -beef fried rice - 1/10 not it was quite plain. Like some thing you put together with your leftover rice.
We came here for my friends birthday party as a group of 13 and they got us a reservation at the spacious VIP table that comfortably fit all of us. Our server, Air, was super friendly and helpful. We ordered ALOT of food. I'll go over the dishes I did not like first. Pekin Duck: table side presentation was nice, but for the price was not really worth it IMO. The addition of pineapple was an interesting take. Deep fried eel with dried chili: eel was a bit on dry side as well as salty. Not my favorite. Fried chicken with dough twists: the chicken was over salted but the dough twists were sweet? Would not recommend. Every other dish we ordered was so so good. My top favorites were the salted egg yolk tiger prawns, the honey walnut crispy shrimp, and smoke pork neck. Overall it was a unique upscale Chinese dining experience, delicious food, friendly service, and beautiful atmosphere. I definitely recommend coming with a larger group to try more dishes!
Honestly disappointed with the mediocre dishes. Everything we tried was either too sweet, too oily or just flat out flavorless. Best dish was probably pea sprouts. For a place that is priced premium, I expected a lot better. Food - 3/5 Service - 4/5 Ambience - 4/5
The food was very delicious and the service was excellent. Prices seem a bit high but I would come back to eat here and try other things on the menu because everything tastes SO good and the place was so clean. Once they start serving alcohol I cannot wait to try the cocktails because their no alcoholic beverages were delicious.
This is a very mid restaurant overall and definitely not worth the prices on its menu. The braised beef and marinated fish were both decent, but the golden broth beef was not good. There was no one there on a Friday night, which is telling enough of what people think of it. I don't think I would come around again.
I dined at Jiang Nan on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 6 pm. There's no authentic Peking duck place where I currently live, so I was excited to try out this place when I heard and saw that the Peking Duck looked very similar to the famous Peking Duck Gourmet in Falls Church, VA, where I had my first fond memories of eating Peking duck. Besides the somewhat chaotic vibe from the service, the ambience was nice with the unique interior design and warmly lit dining area. Starting with the Peking Duck, I thought it was pretty good in terms of presentation and flavor. This is the type of establishment I would expect the duck to be carved table-side, but it's not a deal breaker. So it was such a slight disappointment it didn't happen. However, the duck was still tender with crispy skin, the two quintessential qualities to an authentic and proper Peking duck. Other food items I especially enjoyed were the stir-fried string beans and the soup dumplings. The string beans had such a nice aroma and made nice complementary side dish. The soup dumplings were a bit dry, but flavorful. I wish it had a bit more soup. The seafood fried rice looked simple and maybe a bit reminiscent of one would expect from a Chinese buffet, but it tasted well seasoned and moist. Jiang Nan also offers exceptional service when available. They were excellent in explaining the menu and making good recommendations, refilling waters and side pickles. There were a lot of items on the menu I look forward to trying in the future!
Metro Atlanta's Newest Michelin Guide Recommended Chinese Fine Dining The duck carving service is an entire tableside vibe. I felt like I was at a posh restaurant back in China. Definitely a must-try experience. Touch pad ordering system with prices clearly listed. There are so many more dishes that I will visit again to try. I was shocked at how delicious and fresh their vegetable dishes are, and how affordable. Definitely need to return to try them all. 1 Soup Dumplings - Xiaolongbao , XLB many flavors offered. 2 Seafood Udon Noodles 3 Whole Duck - This is their famous dish and a must try. 4 Lamb Kebab 串 ＆ Flaming Lamb 5 Pineapple Beer 7 Chili Shrimp & Crispy Chicken 8 Spicy Shredded Potato 9 Tang Sui dessert
Jan. 18, 2025 Everything was really good but I was a tad disappointed with the amount of portion for the Peking duck. It was a small amount and I thought they would actually cut the whole duck in front of you, but they didn't. Other than that, their seafood fried rice and stir fry green beans were delicious. The pork soup dumplings and crab dumplings were good as well.
This place had just opened up, so I was expecting a wait. It was about a 40 minute wait, so we put our names down on the iPad and walked around Teso next door to kill some time. Our time is up, so we get seated at the table, and we were explained their ordering system with the iPad. Definitely a different method, since not many restaurants do that in the Duluth area. This place was Michelin recommended so we definitely had high expectations. My group was only 3 people, so we couldn't order a lot since we can only eat so much at a time. They are known for the soup dumplings and pecking duck. Didn't try the pecking duck, but we did try 2 of the soup dumpling options: regular pork and the pork and crab meat. The crab meat one had more soup to it, which is what I am looking for in a soup dumpling. Maybe don't let it sit out for too long before the wrapping soaks it up? lol. Best I've had so far in Georgia. Everything is on the high end in terms of price, but food was good. I would love to come back and order something different on the menu. It was a lot to look at.

Their menu is a great mix of Teas, Beverages, Soups, Dumplings, Appetisers ( including a variety of vegetarian options) , Mains and desserts to cater to different tastes and preferences. The ambiance here reflects the Vibe of the cuisine , Cozy and vibrant , with different kinds of seating options . What we had - Steamed pork Soup Dumplings ( definitely worth a try - the soup inside was delicious) Cumin Lamb on a Sizzling Plate ( Chef Special) - (very flavorful, perfectly cooked and seasoned lamb ) Sliced Pork belly , cucumber and garlic sauce ( an innovative preparation of the pork belly) Tiger Shrimp in Sweet Chilli Sauce ( which was a little on the sweeter side) Mapo Tofu ( really delicious - not too spicy) Kung pao chicken with peanuts paired just right with the Vegetarian Udon noodles The Preserved Ham fried rice is one of the better versions of a fried rice that I've had in a long time- definitely a must order ( can be customized to make it without meat ) The Pineapple Beer is actually a Mocktail - zingy and refreshing ‼ Attention to service also was on point. Jiang Nan is a recent opened chinese fusion restaurant. They were on 2022 Michelin Recommended List and the Duluth location upholds that reputation. Walking in, you can see they put a lot of effort into their decor. The walls are beautiful, the painting and lighting compliments the luxurious roofing and not only that, each table is disinfected and extremely clean! From entry to being seated, all of the employees and servers were attentive and kind. They are also extremely knowledgeable and friendly as well too! Our server took her time explaining the ordering process and the food came out relatively quick. Not only that, the servers check up on you every 5-10 minutes in case if you have any requests or questions. Food wise, EACH dish ranges from $15-$88. So definitely on the pricier end. However the experience and the quality of the food makes the visit 100% worth it.
TLDR: good service, moderate size portions, full flavor Came for a weekend dinner with a friend. It was in the middle of dinner time but there were plenty of tables. We were greeted quickly at both the door and table. For a dumpling house, there weren't that many options for dumplings. We order two types of dumplings, a noodle dish and an entree on recommendation of the staff. The pork soup dumplings were very soupy on the inside and had a good flavor. The pan fried bao dumplings were alright but morning to write home about; I thought the bun to filling ratio was good for a bao though. For noodles we got the house rice noodles. I typically don't order this but I thought it was really well done with a good ratio of ingredients and flavor. Lastly we ordered the sales egg pork ribs. They were cut to bite size pieces but that's deceptive since they were bone in. Some pieces were all bone and some all meat. While the flavor was good, some might call it dry and the cut made it difficult to eat. While the seasoning for all the dishes were flavorful, I thought the salt was a little heavy. Overall the restaurant was clean with a semi modern decor. The staff were all friendly and tried to be helpful throughout the visit. I'd give it a try if you're in the neighborhood. read more
There are plenty of parking spaces outside. The service is courteous and prompt. We came at lunch time, so we selected from their lunch for two combo menu. Overall, we were impressed with their service and food preparation more than the food itself, all the dishes were good, but no dish stands out to my expectations for a Michelin Bib Gourmand, so the price as well. Here was our experience: Appetizer-Signature Salted Chicken: the skin was crispy; we ordered Steamed Pork Dumplings outside of regular menu, it's so so; main dish - Mapo Tofu W. Minced Pork: taste good, tofu was very soft; Stir-Fried Pork Belly with Green Pepper: pork part was good, pepper was on the raw side, not matching the pork; soup - Tofu and Veggies Duck bone Soup: taste diluted with more water; Desert - Peach Gummies with Tremella: cold and smooth. I feel like to give 3 and half stars, but 4 stars anyway. read more
Went for Christmas dinner. We ordered Steam pork dumpling, sliced pork belly with mashed garlic sauce, sauteed eggplant in spicy garlic sauce and a half a Peking Duck. Ordering is via tablets at the table. We instructed the staff to bring it out as the kitchen finished it since we were sharing like tapas style. Service is top notch. The eggplant was amazing. The pork belly had more fat than I would prefer but that's a personal preference. The Peking duck was really good. Not quite as good as a hole in the wall I ate at in Beijing but it was a great Christmas dinner that wasn't routine. The menu is extensive and you really can't go wrong with the variety. read more

The food was excellent all around. Pork belly braised in tea sauce was tender, succulent to the bite while rich in flavor. The tofu with crab meat had a strong umami crab taste. Cumin lamb was soft and smoky which paired well with white rice. Service was good quick and efficient. The decor of the restaurant was elegant and stylish, which made for a vibrant and refined dining experience. read more
Imptessive for a newly opened restaurant. Very beautiful inside. Nice aesthetic touch. We walked in on a Friday night and there are few tables available and no we didn't have to wait. The menu is the ipad and we can order from there send to kitchen and Alan the server has been very helpful and will confirm the orders. They do have their alcohol license yet so I settled with the passion fruit yogurt tea which is yummy btw. Everything is tasty and excited to try other dishes next time. read more
Was excited to try this Michelin recommended restaurant only to be disappointed :( Aesthetic restaurant with beautiful Chinese decor. Pretty convenient to order on the tablet & service was great; however, the food is def not on par with the pricing tho. I don't mind paying a lil more for food if it's good lol. The quality & taste just weren't there for me tbh. I did like the Mapo Tofu dish tho. Lol I'll give them benefit of a doubt considering they're new. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their pineapple beer & check out the bar menu lol read more
I really enjoyed this place. I had several dishes to taste from as I went with a group of 16 others.. They are particular about seating.. The service was great. The food came out hot fresh and delicious.. I especially enjoy the Peking duck wraps, the fried tofu, and I had two of the dumpling dishes, which were both very tasty. I love that the restaurant is well lit and there's plenty of parking. I will definitely be back.. read more

New Chinese restaurant that should be on EVERYONES to go list! Not only is the food amazing but all around service & experience was excellent! Every dish we ordered was delicious I would recommend the pork belly with mashed garlic and the Japanese tofu dish for sureee! The prices are on the higher side since this is considered an upscale dining experience but the quality matches the price and you don't be disappointed! Shout out to our server Daniel! read more

I would give this five stars but on the night we went, they ran out of the Peking Duck. Everything we ordered was tasty and easy to order using their tablet. Menu had pictures and levels of spice was indicated. Definitely have to come back for the duck. read more
Food was decent, but unsure if I would say it was anything special. The interior was beautiful, and there is plenty of seating. However, I will say the service staff was a bit weird, but maybe it's because the restaurant is relatively new, so hopefully it'll be better with time. read more
Catch me at the new Chinese fusion restaurant in Metro Atlanta!! Jiang Nan was an amazing experience that's a must try! I tried this place out with some girlfriends on a Friday night. The parking is free, but good luck finding a spot Other than that, their menu is very expansive, and so easy to order on the iPad. Service was great, and the food was delicious and so flavorful. It was overall a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant's décor was elegant and inviting, giving it an upscale feel. We ordered several dishes, and the standouts were definitely the crispy tiger prawn and the salty pork soup with bamboo shoots and tofu knots--both flavorful and memorable. The seafood with Japanese tofu, served sizzling style, was less impressive; we've had better versions elsewhere. Still, the food, atmosphere, and service made it an enjoyable visit, and I'd be happy to return. read more

Restaurant is beautifully decorated. Asian Chinese fusion cuisine. I recommend coming to eat this family style so you can try multiple dishes. Service was good especially given that they were pretty busy. A little pricy with most dishes being between $20-30. Most were tasty though, and I would go back again! read more
Amazing to have a semi upscale Chinese restaurant in Duluth in an already stacked plaza! During peak dinner times there's a wait so get yourself on the waitlist or probably call ahead. Service was great and waiters kept checking up on us. Purely food based review: Braised Pork Belly in Tea - Highlight dish, must get Everytime. Literally melts in your mouth, reminds me of dishes in Asia. Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp - Comes with you tiao bread, great salted Egg flavor! Would highly recommend. Sweet & Sour Pork - Decent fancy take on what's considered more typically a Chinese American dish, good quality. Pork Xiao Long Bao - Great soup dumplings filled with yummy soup. It is more of the thicker wrapper kind. Good appetizer. Stir fry String Beans - Great veggie dish with wok hei flavor. Braised Beef Brisket with Potatoes - Really good, would recommend over white rice (which is free!) Winter melon soup - Didn't think I would like this cause typically anything wintermelon is bitter but soup itself has a lot of meat and was light! read more
This was such a beautiful restaurant to have dinner at. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday night about an hour before they closed. When walking into the establishment, you're welcomed with a beautiful fountain and calming atmosphere. We were seated immediately in the back half of the restaurants where other diners were enjoying their meals. They have a unique ordering system, presenting the table with a tablet that you place your order on which sends it directly to the kitchen. Within minutes, we were brought a complimentary cabbage salad and the seafood udon noodles that we ordered. These noodles were very different from the udon dishes I've had in the past, with shrimp, scallops, and even onions included in the dish. We also ordered sake which came with an impressive dry ice presentation. After about another 5 minutes the star of the show arrived, the soup dumplings. The pork soup dumplings were tasty but I wasn't a fan of the pork and truffle soup dumplings. I don't recall ever trying truffles in a dish, but it unpleasantly overtook the dumplings in my opinion. Once we were done with our meal, the payment method was also done on a tablet with the server which makes it quick and effective. I definitely plan on coming back to try other dishes they have to offer. read more

We went for an early weeknight dinner so it wasn't as crowded. Staff were friendly and interior was bright, modern and aesthetic. We ordered the beef tripe, string beans, braised pork belly, Peking duck, and pork & crab soup dumpling. Everything tasted good, with the pork belly being our favorite. The Peking duck wasn't as flavorful as other Peking duck dishes we've had, but still good. The soup dumpling was larger and had a thicker wrapper than typical, but we really enjoyed the soup flavor. read more

We gave this "Michelin recommended" place a try a few days ago. I understand the restaurant is newly opened and probably not having everything ready ready yet, but I have to say the whole experience was disappointed. Environment (5/5): the interior design was the modern Chinese style which I liked a lot. Everything feels nice and clean, including restroom. Staff (4/5): Everyone was friendly and nice but you can tell they need more training. Our waiter couldn't tell us what their recommended dishes are and had strong smell of cigarettes when talking to us. We went on a weekday for lunch so staff was outnumbered customers and many of them had no idea to do other than standing in the hallway. When checking out, we paid in cash since their wifi was down. No one asked us if we wanted the change back and the girl just took our money and never came back. We were so confused because the change was definitely not enough for tips. We ended up left more cash on the table and saw ourselves out. Taste (2/5): I could've rated this 3/5 but considering the price, the dishes were a big disappointment. We ordered three dishes: sweet & sour bass （松子鲈鱼）, cumin lamb （炙羊肉）, and shredded cabbage （手撕包菜）. None of them were impressive just mediocre. Bass was obviously not the live fish (check out the eyeball of the fish in the picture, live fish's eyeballs would pop out after cooked, and this one was not). Fish was deep fried too long and also probably battered too thick that most pieces were too chewy. Lamb was a spicy flavored dish and spicy was the only flavor. Cabbage was kinda plain and full of thick stems. I have to say too many Chinese restaurants in ATL, or even in that same plaza have better tastes than this place. Price ($$$): we had two people, ordered three dishes, and the total was $96 before tips. IMO, this might be a good place for informal business meals (I don't think they have a private room) or in cases that the environment is more important than food. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it (at least for now). I'll be happy to try again if people believe the tastes are improved. read more
This Michelin-rated fine dining restaurant is stunning! The artwork on the wall in the back reminded me of a city in China--though I can't recall which one. You can choose to sit at a table or at the bar. I went with my family on a Sunday night, and it wasn't too crowded. They handed us a tablet to place our order, which was super convenient. We got the famous whole Peking duck served with rice paper, two sets of steamed pork dumplings, mapo tofu, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall soup, and a pot of tea. The soup had a rich and creamy texture but was surprisingly bland. The steamed pork dumplings were delicious--just watch out for the hot, juicy center! The duck was the star of the night: crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfect with sweet dipping sauce. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see the duck flambéed tableside like you see on TikTok--yes, it's a little dramatic, but we were hoping for the full experience. The mapo tofu, unfortunately, was also bland and not spicy. We paid $209 for five people, including tips. read more

Amazing service, each dish was brought out quicker than i expected, and each had their own unique delicious flavor, and enough for 3 people to share.
