Growing up in Boston near Chinatown, and now currently living near Quincy, (both enclaves of myriad Vietnamese restaurants), I've had my fair share of authentic veitnamese crusine to say the least. This restaurant by far is one of the worst. Pho was watered down. Their large bowl is considered a small in chinatown. Despite being a "large" they didn't give that much noodles or beef. Really? The grilled pork was sad. It was over cooked and gave 4 small pieces. You can pay extra for more but def not worth it. At the price between 10-12 for the rice dish, you would expect more meat. They gave ONE of each vegatable; I'm not even kidding. It's like they are trying to skimp on produce, ingredients and meats. Overpiced, small portions, and bland. AVOID. I would give zero stars if I can. I'm compelled to give this negative review b/c their current ratings on Yelp (4 stars?) is not a true reflection of their food compared to their prices - horrendous. On a cold day, we thought going to Pho Da Kao was a good idea. We had the worse experience!!! The service was horrible. The host kept ignoring us although we were standing in the front waiting to be seated. Once we got to sit down, we had to wait for a while. Took a long time for our food to come out. The egg rolls were not cooked inside. My brother ordered the " Mi Xao Gion" , my Mom ordered " Mi Hai San" and I ordered " Bun Bo Hue". Looked like the chef did not know how to cook Vietnamese food! We are Vietnamese so perhaps our expectations for authentic food was too much to ask. My brother tried to eat his dish but finally gave up. The fried noodles were cold. It seemed that the noodles were pre-fried and came from the freezer. The veggies on top were cold and tasted rotten. We kept trying to get our waitresses attention but she kept ignoring us. Finally we got her attention but it was too late. We gave up. We asked her to take the dish away. It was too disgusting to keep looking at it. My mom was so disappointed that she tried to speak to the cashier on our way out. She even tried to speak to him in Vietnamese but it seemed that he avoided responding to her in the native language. So, my mom switched back to English. The response she got was "sorry that you felt that way, that you did not like the food!" To prospective customers: there are better authentic Vietnamese restaurants that worthy of your time, money and experience. Try somewhere else. read more

Clean, welcoming, and prompt attentive service for a Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Brazilian Framingham. We were looking for an authentic Vietnamese restaurant to match what we enjoyed in SoCal and this is by far the best option in the area. Sadly, they do not serve the spicy BÚN TÔM KAH (rice vermicelli noodles in a light coconut-base broth) my wife craves. Full bar, broad menu. A good place for groups of four or more. Very nice staff, they offered up nice welcomes right as I walked in and no problem with seating me right away. Parking seemed ok. There is a lot in the back according to a sign in the window, but I got street parking so didn't get to see it. The summer rolls were good but could have benefited from more shrimp stuffed in there. The peanut dipping sauce was good. The crab rangoon appetizer was delicious, nice crunchy little guys. The pho was good, we got the medium chicken type and shared it because we're not really soup people but wanted to partake since that seems to be their specialty. Have had takeout many times, but only dined in a few times. Tonight, just as our entrees were served, seven or eight 10-12 year olds were sat across from us. Tonight there is live music in the bar, and the parents of these children decided it was inappropriate for their children to be in the bar so they sat them next to us. A few moms, and at one point an even more boisterous male, stood around at times to limit the yelling unsuccessfully. I don't blame the parents...hey why not go to a bar and park your kids somewhere. But I do blame the restaurant who seemed surprised when we asked for our food to go. Poorly run....very poorly. Will not be back...to eat in or to go. read more

Pho Dakao is fantastic! Have been a few times and highly recommend the Softshell Crab and Salted Squid - arguably one of the best calamari dishes I've ever had, and Softshell Crab was cook perfectly. Solid Vietnamese place. In town for a work conference so i dined at the bar. The bartender was very nice and talkative. Gave me some good suggestions and kept my glass full :) I had the soft shell crab appetizer. It was perfectly sized for me; i wanted something light. Very delicious flavor combo. Fresh ingredients and it came from the fryer to me. I also tried the Thai Tea, very interesting flavor. I was disappointed at the bottom of the glass though, wished it came in a larger glass :) read more

I am a fairly frequent customer of Pho Dakao and have always and still recommend them to people. The food is amazing! Live Jazz on I think Friday nights, and good drinks. My menu recommendations are crispy spring rolls, fresh summer rolls, chicken pho, vermicelli v3, and chicken sautee with lemongrass. Only reason I give four stars is for the speed of service. They always seem understaffed no matter how busy it is and sometimes drinks can take a while to be made. I could never stop in for a quick lunch. DO NOT let that deter you from giving them a try. One of my favorite restaurants in Framingham. Always fresh and friendly with a decent bar. The pho is top-notch and fulfills a much-needed demand for amazing soup in the area. They are generous with portions and prices. Always fast service. Everything I have tried from the menu (rare steak pho, various varieties of bun or vermicelli, and several appetizers) has been delicious and I always come back for more! Great spot for Vietnamese food! I've tried many of the dishes here and have never been disappointed! Their pho is a MUST try! It's pretty nice inside, definitely much nicer than many of the restaurants you will find in downtown Framingham. Service is always good and they have great mixed drinks! Had dinner here tonight for the first time. Highly recommended! Parking on the street was easy. Nice atmosphere with booths and tables. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was FANTASTIC. We started sharing a pho ga. Beef broth with chicken, glass noodles, herbs, veggies. Very filling and good flavor. I have had good and bad pho and this was definitely on the very good side. My wife had the fried noodles with chicken and veggies in a delicious sauce. I was thinking of getting the beef with lemongrass or ginger and our waitress suggested she could combine both so that is what I had. Wow! This was so flavorful and could be potentially addictive! Pho Dakao is a GREAT addition to authentic Asian Cuisine in the Framingham Area. The kitchen produces excellent Pho - both beef and chicken as well as great grilled beef skewers. Soups come with authentic Thai Royal Basil and sliced, fresh Jalapeno, for heat. We found the chicken curry lighter then traditional thai recipes, but still quites tasty. The owners and staff are friendly and the room is comfortable and inviting. They even have a full bar. Don't wait to visit this new downtown Framingham treat. read more

Pho Dakao is not bad for pho, but doesn't seem like the other dishes are good. The special came out piping hot on Friday night, 6p-yum yum! Service was quick! Waitress checked in with us. Overall, wouldn't really come here again, but mostly because my folks and I are not from the area. Though, honestly, there are better places, just not in the immediate area... -Pho Dakao really seems like a neighborhood joint: people meeting each other for drinks and "Asian tea," and generally good times. But that's just it, the feeling of the restaurant is more "BAR" than pho joint, which is perfectly fine-and sufficient for our hungry tummies-but not a draw for me, in particular. read more

Let me start off by saying the food is GREAT! five stars for the food. Service is a whole different story. I am not super picky about the service I get, and I try to be really understanding about people having a tough day. This was the second time I went there to sit down and have dinner. Same server, same TERRIBLE service. Paid little attention to us, when talking to us she made no eye-contact, (literally looking out the window while talking to us, short answers only. Seriously, try talking to someone who doesn't even look at you while they talk to you, what a great way to make you feel like less of a person). Bottom line, we didn't feel welcome, cared for, or that we mattered as customers. Also seeing how the servers gossip during the shift, or just watching them be on their phones (all the time) while we were waiting for drinks and utensils was kind of a ridiculous thing. I have gone twice the soup is great but service was slow and they say you can get 15% off. Which I thought was great so I texted the number to get my 15% off conveniently the manager was not in to give us our 15% off. None of the other employees can do it which is ridiculous. Very disappointed. I've spent over $400 this past month alone here. We really liked them. Today, I got off work at 9. They close at 10. I called on my way to try to place and order to eat there and they said I would have to just come. At no point was there any mention of a to go order. We arrived at 9:30. They had locked the door. A very rude woman comes to the door and says "kitchen closed" I told her I tried calling and she said they could have made it "to go" and I said that was never offered and they don't close until 10. She said everyone closes the kitchen early. When I asked for the manager and the owners names she refused to give them to me- said "come back to see them" and locked the door in my face again. Wow. I had previously given them a 5 star review and we were so loyal to this place for it to mean nothing. Such a rude person. When you close at 9:30... post 9:30 not 10. We won't be back.
