I ordered a pork bun to go so I could enjoy a quality meal on the plane and was happy with my life decisions. The ingredients were really fresh and the flavors really delicious. I think that maybe I missed out on a bit of its potential because I had to have it to go. With that being said, the ingredients were separated in the to go box and I also thought that the portion size wasn't as abundant as it should be. Specifically, though the meat was plenty, it was lacking in lettuce and bean sprouts. Another thing of note is that there were these strips of meat(?) that was pretty bland in both color and taste and weird in texture. Best thing about this place is I don't have to drive 45mins to Bellaire for a good bowl of pho! Coming from a very picky pho person, this place is authentic Vietnamese pho! I've only order Pho Dien Special the last 5 times I've ate here and the taste was consistent! Meat was tender with the right amount of noodles. Staff: like I've mention before, it's a family run business. Don't mistaken that with slow service or long wait because this place is neither. Yay! A place that's somewhat closer than Bellaire! I was tempted to check this place out since it is Pho Dien and there were positive reviews about the friendly service. My sister and I took our mom out, and we ordered two small bowls and one large bowl of pho. Then, while waiting, we overheard that a small bowl here is the equivalent of a large bowl at the Bellaire location. I can't confirm that yet, but the sizes definitely seemed a size larger. The pho broth was very clear and stayed hot until the very end. The tai was seasoned well, and I was a bit impressed with all the attention to detail. It's the little things that make a bowl of pho go from good to great. The only thing that we could pick on was that the flavor of the broth was good but could still have room for improvement. As in other reviews, the service was friendly and the kind older gentleman (just wanted to use the same words as the review highlights) was very polite and thoughtful. Nice atmosphere, good service, and great food. What more can you ask for? Really great alternative to going to Bellaire. read more

Great service, great food, very clean place, can't recommend it enough! I had low expectations for this place because most Vietnamese Pho restaurants disappoint me due to poor service and small quantities of food. This place was a pleasant surprise. While most other places are cutting their portion of noodles & vegetables, these guys are not. The meat is all wrapped to prevent cross contamination when you order to go. The spring rolls are lightly seasoned and have a great taste. My husband does not like Pho restaurants because of the previously mentioned reasons, and he ordered pho for himself after we got ours to go because of how friendly and clean they were. The best in the area, great soup! Good selection of meat for the pho and the broth is always perfectly hot. Good chili oil and the apps are pretty good. Great peanut sauce! Nice people that own it and it's always quick even when busy. The normal steak is not round eye like at most pho places but still very good. read more

The grilled pork and egg rolls with vermicelli (bun thit nuong) was so good and the portion was very generous. The fresh spring rolls were well made and scrumptious. I hadn't been in a while but ran to pick up some food when my mom was admitted to the hospital. It's a great place to get your pho on. A place that opens at 9 am I was so surprised to see the service and the food was on point. The portions are enough for the serious eater. Beef noodle is their specialty and they make it right. With the soup and the abundant portions of meat, they keep customers coming all day long. It's 9am and they already have a couple of tables chowing down. The owner is a lovely man that always has a smile. They really make you feel welcomed. I am a pho lover. My Vietnamese friend brought me here and told me it is the best pho in Houston. They are all excited they open the restaurant here. It is totally true. Finally a great Vietnamese place near for lunch! Vietnamese coworker told me about this new place and I went twice already. Love the Pho with rare beef. I have no idea what they do to the beef in terms of marinating, but it's awesome! Super soft. Portions are huge. Egg rolls are good. Not the best I've ever had (I'm partial to a place in Fort Worth for those), but good. Will try other dishes soon. Definitely recommendable! Would love to see Saigon pancakes with pork or shrimp. Solid Pho option fairly close to IAH and way better than airport food. The interior decor is considerably upscale compared to the typical strip mall Pho place but don't worry - the food is still really good. I came here for lunch and thought Pho would be too steamy for summer, but rest assured they have the A/C cranked cold so slurp away, Pho lovers! At any rate for this visit I got the B2 vermicelli noodle bowl. It was fresh and delicious - the key for me was the umami scrumptious shredded pork and grilled shrimp. read more

My nail lady told me that this restaurant had the best pho in the area and she was so right! The food was amazing and the service was even better. My three year old was being a bit of a pain and not eating so one of the owners came over and fed her so we could eat our meals. It was so sweet. We will definitely be back. read more

**UPDATE** my first visit to Pho Dien 1960 was Saturday, June 13, 2020. Three days later (6/16/20) and I'm B-A-C-K!!! To order the exact same thing, but just twice as much!! It was so delicious that I was craving it the very next day! I like plenty of rice vermicelli and turns out if you ask them for more noodles, they will oblige without charging you. It's not double noodles but it's definitely more. Also, I asked for twice as much of all of the sauces and I think they only charged me $1.00 total. Good business sense for sure. This place is spectacular and delicious, just like everyone else says. The pho is rich and flavorful, and with the right seasonings it was perfect. I got it with meatballs and rare steak, both of which were great -- particularly the meatballs. The spring rolls and the other various sides were good too. And there were enough "plain" offerings that even my kids found things they liked, so it turned out to be a very family-friendly option. The service was also superb. I didn't realize that it was table service; the inside of the restaurant is really quite nice. And the owner taught me that I'm supposed to have a dish of sauce on the side for dipping the meats, rather than putting sauce into the pho broth itself. I'm going to continue putting sauces into the broth as well, which apparently makes me a pho philistine, but I don't care because it's delicious that way. Lunch for four came to about $40, even though we ordered a lot of food, which is a really excellent price. This is one of the best pho places I've eaten at anywhere in the country, and the fact that it's in Humble is amazing. I'd go back anytime. read more

I really hate to leave this place 3 stars but the service is terrible. We have eaten here so many times and pass several pho places on the way because we love their Pho. After today, we won't be returning. We ordered the usual today, spring rolls, egg rolls and their combination pho. The spring rolls came out and my son and husband had their first bite and realized it was caked in pepper. We pulled it open and showed our waiter and he said that's how they make it. That may be the case but they must have forgotten the pepper every time before today. We asked if they could make us more without the pepper and he said let me ask the kitchen. He asked a little old lady at the register. He came back and said no he couldn't. I said well we can't eat this with all of this pepper and he responded I know but I didn't do it. Really?! So we said fine, bring us another order of spring rolls (at my cost). In total, we ordered 6 spring rolls (3 order) but could only eat the two that had no pepper. Again, the food is great but service is crappy. I cannot believe he didn't offer to remake the spring rolls. Update: when paying at the counter, I spoke to the older lady about the spring rolls. She said that In the future, tell them no pepper. I told her I understand that but I have eaten here several times and have never had this much pepper in a spring roll (or any that I was ever aware of) so I didn't know I had to make such a request. Came to this place based on so many awesome reviews. It wasn't all all what the reviews said. The table we were sat wasn't cleaned to start with. When the waitress noticed it instead of getting it cleaned she tried covering it with the menu. We ignored it as we wanted to try out the food. Waitress got our order wrong so we had to wait way longer than needed. Food wasn't at all special. Been to many other pho places that were way better with way better service. I tried this place for the first time on Saturday and it was so good that I went back on Sunday. I ordered the B2 (Rice vermicelli with grilled shrimp, shredded and grilled-sliced pork, and egg rolls) both visits. The first visit I asked for it to be prepared without the pork - I was worried it would be fatty, like I've experienced at other restaurants. The second visit I ordered it exactly as served and I was so disappointed that I skipped on the pork the day before. The meat is so flavorful and lean, the entire dish was delicious. I also love that this place is family owned and operated. The service is great, we didn't wait for drink refills (water) and everyone, especially the older gentleman, were incredibly nice and attentive. I usually get the rice vermicelli noodles, as pho is just to difficult to eat at a convention center, but I'm making a point to remember to show up here for the pho next time I'm in town, as everyone in this busy restaurant was eating it, and it looked and smelled delicious. This place has won awards for best Pho in Houston Press in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017. I used to go the original location in Bellaire Chinatown where there would be a line to get in the place since it was small. I've never had the chance to visit the new location in Bellaire. So I was so excited to found out they've opened a location in Humble which was close to Intercontinental Airport. It was great to see the original owner and staff that used to work at the original location is now in Humble. The Pho and the broth are the same as I remember it from the old location. The staff is super friendly and service is fast. I will definitely come back again knowing I don't have to travel Chinatown to get the best Pho in Houston. This is by far the BEST and closest to AUTHENTIC pho to me. Growing up in Vietnam, I remember eating pho without having to add any sauce or condiments into the broth because it has so much flavor and the natural sweetness taste from the bones and herb that you don't want risk the change of the flavor by adding anything else to it. That was EXACTLY what I got when I came to this pho place. It had so much flavor but not overwhelming. My boyfriend and I got the special Pho Dien (Large only). ***It was definitely a lot so I recommended for those who eat smaller portion maybe get 1 and share with another person because it is definitely more than I myself could intake but I definitely do not regret it. You can also try ask them of they split it but again I'm not sure. I will make sure to ask that next time or see if I can get it in a smaller size. I'm sure they can work something out.*** The thing I love most is their marinated rare steak is very fine (the chopped it in smaller pieces) and soft! We also ordered thai tea and man! It is HARD to find good thai tea ANYWHERE because here they actually cook the tea and made everything from scratch so it is very good! Not at all like the teahouse places. It was so good we ordered another Pho and thai tea to go. I would seriously make the drive here on my day off just to have their pho and I live 40 mins away. If I could I would drive here EVERYDAY! This is by far the friendly, nicest, and most customer oriented pho place I've ever been to. We were greeted by a worker and sat us down he then waited until we were ready to order. I ordered egg rolls and two P1 (combination meats), Thai tea, and a sprite. The egg rolls came amazingly fast, and were delicious. Then our pho came and the owner visited our table to show up the sauces and even mixed some up for us. It was a thoughtful experience! He constantly checked up on us, and made sure we're good. When we were done, I didn't finish my noodles so he packed everything up for me, even the sauce and been sprouts. OMG!! Came from California, I did not have high expectation for Vietnamese food here in the Texas.
