I was pretty convinced good pho in North county didn't exist, I've been to so many mediocre places- but this place proved me wrong! We sat outside and the service was still quick and attentive. I shared some spring rolls which were fresh and had the veggie pho-so good! Vegetarian broth can often lack flavor but this one didn't and the ample veggies and tofu were cooked perfectly. They also have a decent sized beer list with both Asian and craft beers, which I always think rounds out a good meal ;) I'll definitely be back to hopefully try new things (but I'm already craving that veggie pho!) read more

Food was standard pho, nothing special - however the chicken slices in the pho were ABSURDLY LARGE - like, can I get a plate and a knife so I can cut them?? Wtf is happening here? "Thinly sliced"?!?!? Right, like about as "thin" as my ass. Oh and the "Thai iced tea with Boba"? Try "Hot Thai tea with 2 ice cubes Over cooked black mushy lumps". I'm so bummed. I took my father here for father's day with our entire family and it was the worst meal I've ever had here. It wasn't that busy but our group has some dietary needs like gluten free and no beef, etc. My father ordered S10 which is a stir fry and the menu shows it includes chicken, beef, and shrimp. He requested noodles instead of rice His meal came with cold noodles, no shrimp, but it had scallops and calamari. He doesn't like calamari and prefers shrimp over scallops. We asked and the waiter said it's a combo, they put everything in it. But the menu says chicken, beef, and shrimp. It does not say a combo of surprise meat. My brother-in-law on my recommendation got S11 which is a meat combo of chicken, shrimp, beef, scallops, imitation crab (which is not shown on the menu and needs to be removed for gluten free as imitation crab has wheat in it), and calamari in a gravy with pan fried noodles. This used to be my favorite dish here but tonight something went terribly wrong. His dish was so bland it's like they forgot to add flavor to the sauce. He asked for more sauce and they brought him a huge bowl of just sauce but it was still bland. Nothing like I've had there at least 10 times since they've opened. It was really bad. I also ordered S11 but I asked for only chicken, shrimp, and scallops as I'm trying to reduce my red meat intake and the crab has gluten. Mine came to the table with beef. They said they would fix it. They brought back the same plate of food but this time it just looked like someone picked out all the beef and there was hardly any chicken and only 4 small shrimp and 3 small scallops and it tasted burnt. I was so upset I actually said something and they gave us 10% off and they know me in there. I used to get food to go a few times a month. So disappointing. The manager apologized, gave us a small discount (the bill was almost $100 for 6 people at Pho), and blamed the waitresses bad handwriting for the meal mix up. They also forgot to bring my sister's soup and since the food was so disappointing she told them to cancel it. The spring rolls were still good and they do have the best peanut sauce I've had in a Pho restaurant but the meals that night were so bad that I'm not sure I'll go back for anything except the chicken Pho. I also found out their beef and vegetable pho broth contains MSG and I'm sensitive to it and my brother-in-law gets bad reactions to it so if you are concerned about MSG, be aware that many Pho restaurants use it. I'm sure I'll go back as I really like Pho and there is no other Pho place near my house. I just wish this place was a little more consistent with their specialty dishes. read more

I love the food here but the service is just terrible. I walked in today and a young man working literally looked at me then walked in the kitchen. When he decided to notice me, he told me to sit anywhere. I sat there for about 10 minuets before I flagged another guy for a menu. I already knew what I wanted but then another 10 minuets went by before i again had to flag someone down. The place wasn't busy at all. After that the food came quick and was delicious. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing or just a young dude thing but I've been in here several times and the service is always the same. I'm only posting this review for the sole purpose that the owners/waiters read it and understand that tips are usually based on the service. PHO-NEVER. This place was decent for 5 minutes when it first opened. Pretty sad because we were excited to have pho in our neighborhood. The quality of food has gone down unbelievably. Service has become sloppy to simply non-existent. Over the past few months each visit was more and more disappointing. Today that was it. Order of steak and meatball pho was missing the steak completely. The meatballs were gray and tough. None of the stuff we had ordered was fresh. I waited a few minutes before calling again. Someone answered and asked if I could please hold. I held...for 20 minutes! I could hear activity in the background and nobody bothered to pick up and ask if I was still there. It's lunch rush and I get that it's busy around that time, however to completely disregard a customer on the phone is unacceptable. This review is long overdue but after my most recent experience here several days ago, I feel compelled to finally put it out there as I have officially written this place off. As others have mentioned, there are not a lot of options for quality pho in the neighborhood so we started coming here as a matter of convenience. Over the past several years we have dined in a handful of times but the majority of the times have been takeout orders. Items we have tried include chicken pho, combo pho (tripe, brisket, meatball, steak, etc.), bbq pork, spring rolls, egg rolls, and wings...so a variety anyway. For all you pho connoisseurs out there, you likely order your takeout pho with the noodles uncooked which also means the red meat (steak, etc.) comes uncooked as well because you will reheat your broth at home and cook the noodles in the piping hot broth when you're ready to sit down and enjoy your big bowl of goodness. Two of the last three takeout orders they failed to give us the garnish for the pho (basil, sprouts, jalapeno, lime, etc.) This past time, I checked our order before leaving to ensure that they didn't forget the garnish. I was so happy to see the garnish in there that I neglected to check everything else. Got all the way home to unpack the items and realized the uncooked meat was missing. I called the business and they let me come pick up what they forgot to put in there, they didn't apologize but they did say that I shouldn't have had to check my order and that it should have all been in there...I guess that is worth (a little) something? Anyway, get home a couple hours later decide that it is time for the dinner that has required two trips to Pho Ever already...and guess what? The noodles were cooked!!! not Uncooked has I had specified and as the cashier taking my order had repeated back to me. This may sound petty and whiny, but now I all of a sudden felt myself feeling guilty and apologetic for not doing my own due diligence and checking each and every container and the state of each item in my order before getting in the car. Isn't that why I left it up to the professionals, made two trips in one afternoon, and tipped 20% on top of all of that? Oh yeah, do I need to mention that they have new menus as of a few months ago and you know what that means: new menus (usually) = higher prices. More money, less service=hard pass from me. In a nutshell, buyer beware that you check that they included everything in your order and that it is just as you specified. Either that or do what I will do from now on and opt to enjoy Vietnamese food from other establishments because this one simply cannot be counted on. read more

Wonderful new addition to the Encinitas restaurant scene! Hurray! Now those of us who live in the Encinitas/Carlsbad area don't have to drive to San Marcos or Escondido for great Vietnamese food. This place just opened a few days ago and word has spread! It was jumping tonight with a full house of dine-in guests, a waiting list, and a steady take out business. We ordered: A1 (egg roll/spring roll combination) A10 (chicken wings - perfectly crisp, lemony, & garlicky with amazing fried spring onions) 23 (bun vermicelli noodles with bbq pork & egg rolls) 39 (combination fried rice) S9 (spicy beef noodle soup) S7 (One of each type of bahn mi - the pork was hands down the most flavorful with the beef a close second and the chicken a distant third) S15 (Vietnamese crepe) The only thing I wouldn't order again was the crepe. It had a nice crispy texture but the flavor was a tad bland and there was a disproportionate amount of bean sprouts. Aside from that everything else was a huge win, and we will definitely come back...often! Showed up at 4:45pm two other tables full, a total of 4 other people all finishing up. We ordered got some of our food, 2 of the 4 cups of water for the kids, 3 of the bowls of soup for the 4 kids. Ate all our food, no plates picked up. Ordered more food they brought it To-Go when we told them we didn't want it to go they then spent time asking and then questioning if we asked for it for To-Go (we didn't). Then they brought the food back to us in a bowl but didn't clear the table. At this point we had at least 5 plates stacked taller than the water glasses. On top of the bowls from the first Pho in front of each of our kids empty, making the table impossible to use. I love this place. I've been coming here for years and it cures heartbreak, an achy stomach, and the chilly weather. I love this place so much, that I even order during extremely hot summer days. I'm a huge fan of their nem nuong spring roll plate. I get it every time - the mint and vermicelli is so. freaking. good. My dad is a big advocate for their Pho Bo Kho. This place is across the street from my job. I like this Vietnamese cuisine restaurant, it's a little far out into the corner which makes it difficult to locate if you don't know the area for an fyi. The service was quick & the food was delicious exactly how I prefer my lunch stops. I would recommend to ask questions since it's a foreign menu, you don't want to order anything that your not too sure about. All around I gave this restaurant 3 stars because there is nothing I hate more then critters flying around me while I eat, also because of the location. I would definitely not let that affect me visiting again so don't let it stop you. Great pho, can't beat the lunch specials. My favorite is the 8.45 deal- bowl of any pho, spring or egg rolls, drink. The coconut juice is phenomenal if you have a slight sweet tooth- it's not super sweet, but refreshingly sweet :) The raw steak pho is my favorite as well as the BBQ pork and shrimp bun. They also have a lot of fun and creative dishes towards the back of the menu. For appetizer the lemon cured filet mignon is a must, super tender slices served with a pretty tasty sauce and giant rice crackers. If you are craving something smokey, salty and spicy, try the clam appetizer, also good. read more

This place is gross. There was a fly in my soup and when we complained about it they offered to cover the whole bill. But after that the busser/water guy kept giving us dirty looks. It was also hotter than hell in there, no ac. Its kind of difficult to enjoy a hot pho soup when it's really hot inside the restaurant already. On top of this, we were told the manager would be contacting us about the fly in the soup since I was pregnant at the time so it makes it even worse that i was served a soup with bugs in it. Great lunch specials. Bowl of soup, spring roll and soft drink for $8.95. Wait staff was friendly and fast. I was seated immediately upon walking in the door I ordered the chicken pho. The broth was piping hot, falvorfull and loaded with all white meat chicken. I was pushing the meat out of the way to get to the noodles. This was the first in time in my life I wasn't able to eat all the meat in my regular size bowl. Usually I'll find myself fishing through the broth looking for morsels of meat. Not here. The spriing rolls were full of fresh crisp veggies and steamed pork. They tasted like they had just been rolled. The peanut dipping sauce was really good. It was thinner and darker than others and I could taste the nuoc mam and other umami flavors. It was a delight. The decor was acceptable. I will never return! :) We arrived as a group of 8 around lunchtime and a table for us was open, but not cleaned for approximately 20 minutes When we were seated the table smelled distinctly of mildew, meaning they don't change their cleaning rags often. Not a big deal We ordered immediately having looked at the menus outside while waiting. About 35 minutes later the first dish came out of the kitchen. A bit long for pho, but understandable since we were a large group and they had to prepare all of our dishes to be served together... Or so I thought. The next dish arrived 5 minutes after the first one and wasn't correct. It took a lot of menu pointing to communicate the issue. It went like this: Waiter: This is beef stew. We love the fresh rolls and recently tried the wings and they were amazing (we didn't care for the sauce that came with them but didn't need it at all). Most of all a huge shout out.
