I tried the special combo sandwich and the chicken curry, and they were both delicious and super affordable. On a quest to find good Banh Mi. This location banh mi is pretty good and tasty. Price is on the high side maybe over charged by a couple dollars. The sandwich filling is small and doesn't come with enough pickled vegetables. Customers have to buy it on the side. The B11 Cha shu banh mi was flavorful. I ordered a Jasmine Green Tea with Boba. It was mushy and stale. Bad-tasting boba and ice usually comes from stale, poor-quality, or overly old tapioca pearls that are mushy or hard, or from ice absorbing freezer odors/contaminants, causing metallic, musty, or food-flavored tastes from dirty bins, old filters, or bad water, all fixable with cleaning, new water/filters, and proper boba storage. I had to double check that they actually added it in. The bread was okay, crunchy on the outside but not super dense on the inside. There's barely any chicken. Even the jalapeño was not that spicy. Also I called to order the banh mi in advance. They said it would take 15 mins but when I got there, they said they didn't receive any order. Not happy with the wait. We liked the grill charcoal taste of the meat. The combo was good too except they are pretty light on the meats. The meat was cut a little thicker but there wasn't much substance to it. Go with the grilled pork banh mi. There was a decent amount of meat but I wouldn't say it's a generous amount. The bread was fresh, but god damn, it's too crunchy and will cut the roof of your mouth. The place is a small hole in the wall that consistently puts out fresh tasting sandwiches at a decent price. The sandwiches come out fairly quick. The owners are friendly. They are not trying to charge you and make you wait for heart, tears, and passion. They sell you food, quickly at a reasonable price. The only thing you have to be careful about is sometimes they close early when they run out of bread. I used to really love this banh mi spot! You can order online with Clover and the #1 was so good. For whatever reason, their business hours are always off. The last time I came here the spring rolls were okay. The staff are always polite and talking up their drinks. BUT the sandwich bread was hard (and crumbly) and they used a small amount of meat and pickled veggies. I was pretty sad about it. I only ate part of banh mi and that was enough. If you want Banh Mi it's usually much better at a sandwich shop then a full Vietnamese restaurant. I believe the reason that the sandwich usually has fresh bread and that makes a huge difference. Their bread was fresh, soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. Cucumber, daikon, and carrots all crunchy and fresh; jalapeño was spicy, and grilled pork flavorful. The only thing I would have liked more, would have been a little for the price, but still very good especially paired with the Vietnamese Coffee. read more

Sandwich and bread is perfect. Been a regular for a long while now. I always knew their sandwiches were a lil smaller than the usual shops. With lesser meat and veggies. It didn't bother me before. I just knew if I wanted a bigger meal-this is not the spot for it. And if I wanted more meat, I would do extra meat to the sandwich. Now, I feel the sandwichs has gotten smaller and with increased prices knowing all ingredients is just the basic-Nothing premium. Not worth it. Unless you are craving a banh mi. Ordering online sneaks in a tip that might be unwanted (so remove if you don't want it) and my last visit they didn't even know they had an online order and had to make it after I arrived. My favorite quick service Vietnamese food is Shrimp Spring Rolls and Banh Mi (sandwiches). The only chance I get to enjoy it is when I drive to San Diego, 35 minutes away. With traffic it could take longer. With the help of my fellow Yelpers, I was able to locate Banh Mi San Marcos, a store that is much closer to where I live offering a wide array of sandwiches, smoothies, boba tea, Vietnamese coffee and my favorite, spring rolls with shrimp. Entering the store, I was greeted by the owner who was ready to assist me with my order. I purchased nine spring rolls to go. The prices here are very reasonable compared to the restaurants in Encinitas and San Diego. He placed my order and told me it would be a couple of minutes since they are made to order. I took a seat in the dining area and kept myself busy reading Yelp reviews. The store was small, but very comfortable and the owner was gracious and friendly. When the food was ready, he placed it in a bag that included the peanut dipping sauce, napkins and forks. I thanked him and he thanked me for being patient while the food was being prepared. When I arrived home, I enjoyed the spring rolls for lunch and shared them with friends. We all agreed, they were delicious and prepared well. I've found my new spot for Vietnamese quick service food and upon leaving the parking lot, I noticed a Pho restaurant a few doors down. I guess that will be my next review. Just glad to find great food just a few minutes away and I can avoid driving on the freeway to San Diego when I'm in the mood for spring rolls. read more

It was my first visit and I was disappointed. I've had many banh mi sandwiches previously and this one was very light on the filling. Yes, it was bigger than most I've had, but that's a product of a large baguette. There was barely any meat or fresh vegetables. Just a big bready sandwich with little inside it. The couple who work here are so kind and enthusiastic. I could tell that this was a true mom and pop shop. I ordered a grilled chicken Banh mi and some chicken egg rolls. The chicken egg rolls were amazing and at a great price point. I can't believe they were that cheap - and they charge individually so you could just buy 1 tif you're looking to add it to your sandwich order. My banh mi itself was also good but definitely not what I was expecting. The chicken didn't really taste like grilled chicken, it felt much mushier and the taste was quite plain. I also felt that there wasn't enough toppings/meat. Overall though, I think this itched the craving and I would be back to try other meat options because the bread was really good and I'd love to support this place! read more

It's been far too long for an update of this very good banh mi spot. They've got hot food and boba drinks, too, but their specialty is banh mi. The banh mi is not a complicated sandwich. It has a protein and some veggies in a nice, fresh, crusty roll. This place checks all the boxes. And at a fair price! My go to is the Chinese pork but I don't think there's a bad option. Stopped by for lunch yesterday. In a pretty non-descript plaza, and the restaurant itself is a very plain looking, but clean. The gentleman that greeted us was very friendly, and explained to me the difference between the pork in the banh mi vs. the grilled pork with the vermicelli. My wife and I ended up ordering the Chinese BBQ pork sandwich and the Vermicelli with grilled pork. Both were good, but I felt the Vermicelli was the better dish. Because I'm Chinese, I have to say I've had better BBQ pork. Not saying at all that it was bad - I think the sandwich itself deserved a solid "B." Everything, the bread, the meat and the picked veggies tasted fresh. I felt the pork was a little dry, but overall, it's a good sandwich. The vermicelli was very nice - healthy portion size, lots of smoky, sweet & savory grilled pork, and vermicelli was cooked nicely. But I felt the highlights were the veggies that came with it - a very simple salad but tasted fresher than most places I've had it. A strong "B+" for the dish. The Vietnamese iced coffee I had was also very good. Maybe a touch too sweet but that's much better than when restaurants don't use enough condensed milk. My wife's passion fruit tea was also very good, and in fact, a super deal for $2.75 compared to most boba places I've visited. If in the area, I'd definitely visit again. read more
