At pho restaurant in ocean side

I came here on sunday 12:40pm and this resturant was packed. I decided to go take out because I was going somewhere and needed to leave on time. The menu looked great just wish there were more spring roll options and traditional Vietnamese sandwich would be nice. Their pho and crispy egg noodles seen to shine. I ordered House Special Combo for my late brunch and spring rolls that is shrimp & pork it comes with 2 pieces and they are light easy to eat if you are busy and on the go. I would love to try their Thai green tea or expresso with condensed milk on ice and also try pho and crispy eggg noodle stir fry next week. I love how they are vegetarian friendly and do have healthier food alternatives. Parking is spacious, free and easy. It's a cozy resturant here with family oriented vibe. I will definitely be back.

The broth its self was not bad, just needed more of the pho flavor. It was served with plenty of meat and herbs which helped.

Gotta say. Super impressed with the Pho. Great portions of the proteins (plenty of tripe, brisket, beef). Great pho. I also really was excited about the temperature. A lot of pho places lately have been serving it tepid and it's been really bothersome as they bring out the meat raw and it takes forever to cook. Not here. Nice and hot!! I'll be back and can't wait to try some of their other items like the spring rolls!!

The best pho in SD North County! I ordered Rare Beef with tendons pho and it didn't disappoint. The broth was seasoned well, not too salty and not bland. The balanced taste was great. The meat was very tender and fresh. I also ordered Shrimp spring rolls and it was delicious. Service was fast and efficient. The place was neat and orderly. Will go back for pho cravings soon.

Good pho! I had the large chicken which had huge amounts of chicken white meat. Broth was a bit too sweet for me. Overall I'd still give it 5 Beer was reasonably priced also.

I can't believe I stumbled onto another hidden gem during a one-night road trip down south! I had to charge the 3 on my way back to Los Angeles - with the chargers packed, I had about 1.5 hours to kill. Looked around and found this pho spot. Checked Yelp: 4.4 stars. Not bad - let's give it a shot. And I'm glad I did. The broth had a beautiful, clean flavor - not overly sweet or salty - and the texture was nice and clear. Noodles were firm and perfect for slurping. The rolls didn't disappoint either - I practically gobbled them. Solid place.

Grilled Ribeye Beef combo. Comes with rice and a small side salad.

We ordered grilled ribeye beef combo (BR4) and the Chef Special Pho Noodle soup, the meat was a letdown. Both the ribeye and the short back ribs were really chewy and hard to eat. The ribeye also severely lacked flavor. On the positive side, the pho broth was actually very good, but the tough meat ruined the overall experience.

I love Banh mi! One of my favorite dishes! This was the worst banh-mi of my life. Stale chewy bread, dry meat, dry everything, really bad. Also got a noodle dish, really bad. Overcooked noodles, dry beef, supposed to be ribeye...but the bread takes the 1st place for worst of his class. Ended up putting the sandwich filling on the noodles, since the bread was so bad. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but serving this kind of food, it's absolutely disrespectful to the customers. Left feeling sadly disappointed. What a ripoff.

Open 10-830 daily. Plenty of free parking. Came for dinner. Not packed. Pay by cash and receive a free menu item in next visit ($45 and Up). Opened 8 years ago. They have a Pho bowl challenge for $45, finish in 45 mins get the bowl for free and get a gift card. Bun Bo hue doesn't have coagulated blood, pork hock or banana blossom. Made for western people since not a lot of Asians in the area and coagulated blood is probably weird to some. The bun Bo hue soup is good, I really liked the dish. Pretty stinky when it first was set on the table though. Pho soup was ok only, was salty but lacked typical pho flavor. Decent but more meh. Veggies were fresh. You can choose between white or egg noodles for stir fry noodles. Crispy or soft. There is only one person working the front so have to wait until he's not busy between phone orders, register, etc to finally get his attention if you were to need water or an extra bowl. At least he's upbeat and friendly. Overall nice place to eat a nice hot bowl of soup.

We were visiting the area on Sunday during lunchtime, and this restaurant was well rated. It is a casual restaurant. The menu list had several selections and the price is reasonable. My son an husband ordered beef dishes and the meat was lean. They enjoyed their meal. I ordered the combo dish with eggroll, pork, and shrimp. It was tasty but the grilled pork were very fatty and there was only 2 pieces of shrimp.

    Very yummy and hearty!

We have been here several times now and we are always impressed with the quality of the food. Very fresh ingredients and served fresh and hot! We love the egg rolls, hand made and crispy! The broth has extremely flavorful. Only critique is that the Bahn mi was super meaty and tasty but the roll was not toasted. Quick service and easy atmosphere:

***4.5 Stars*** Our Asian family was craving some Asian food during our trip to San Diego / Oceanside. There's only so much avocado toast, tacos and poke bowls you can eat. We noticed this restaurant was close to our hotel - The Seabird - so decided to check it out. The place is located in a large strip mall with ample parking. Tables are spaced out nicely. Not very cozy and a bit austere, but clean. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls, grilled pork meatballs, house special phos and kid menu order of grilled chicken broken rice. Everything was priced fairly and the portions were good. We mistakenly ordered 2 orders of spring rolls. They are big so one order actually has 4 big half rolls. Like others have mentioned, the quirky thing is that the large ($15) order is only $0.50 more than the regular size ($14.50). The place is kid friendly and has TVs. They have a kids menu with pho, vermicelli and broken rice for $10. They gave my 2.5 year old a bubble tea sealed cup of water which was nice. She also enjoyed the meatballs and the chicken rice (was a bit bland to me, but maybe purposely so for the kids). The pho broth was very good with just the right amount of oil/fat and aromatics. Again we were all fans of the meatballs. Overall, a family friendly Vietnamese restaurant that I would return to.

It's super easy to get there on the sprinter- don't even bother trying to drive down there and find parking. It's a total madhouse. There's something for everyone here. Crafts, jewelry, even a psychic reader.... A lot of people confuse this with the Farmer's Market- that's on Thursday morning. I haven't been there in years! This is called Sunset Market because it's in the evening! We've been there so many times that we know where out favorite food stands are. My oldest son loves the birria mac and cheese tacos while my youngest son loves a certain french fry stand. My partner and I love finding new food stands and trying them. They're often overlooked...and that's a shame! There's a fun kiddo area if you're bringing little ones- I've seen bounce houses there. Pro-tip- there's a line of portable restrooms by the kid bounce house section. There's also live music with local bands and a few high tops there. They go very quickly. Lots of people just grab a seat on the curb and eat. Every year, it get more and more crowded- people, strollers, dogs...it's nearly impossible to walk down certain food heavy streets to see what's down there. So, we try to time our trips to arrive as soon as the market starts and then leave when the crowds really start flowing in. And every year, it gets more and more expensive...so be prepared. Cash is king there, unless you don't mind paying service fees on credit cards and even venmo).

Luckily after a little research, we found Tea Monks. The parking lot was packed on a Saturday afternoon so I thought we would be in for quite an adventure just to find parking. The line moved quickly which was both a pro and a con. Since it was moving so fast, we would have to make a choice from all of the great options. I was torn between the cabana berry smoothie and the green apple slushie. Ultimately landed on the slushie and decided to add strawberry pearl. There are a few small stools to use while waiting but not much room other than that. Fortunately our drinks were up in a matter of minutes. The first sip was heavenly and hit the spot. I'm always skeptical ordering "green apple" because I'm scared that the apple flavor will fall flat but this one was perfect. I could taste the apple and the tartness was great. The strawberry pearl was a perfect addition. I'm so glad we decided to stop here before heading home.

Luckily, we got there around 630ish (PM), because not too long after, there was someone coming in every 2 to 3 minutes until it was packed-this place is popular! Anyway, when we came in, we were told to just pick a seat anywhere we wanted. There are plenty of tables put together (family style) and once seated we were able to order right away. Like I said, after we came in, it started getting a little busy so the wait for our food was a little longer than I had expected (but not too bad, maybe about 10 minutes). However, we did order some spring rolls for appetizers and those came out right away..... later, when the broth came out it was nice and hot! Everything was delicious, the beef brisket and flank steak were flavorful on their own within the broth and nice and tender. Of course, the broth, like I said earlier was very flavorful and that's definitely what you want to expect eating pho. All of the wait staff were great, cheerful and happy/attentive. A quick search on Yelp gave me a few decent options but Pho Oceanside won because they were opened later than the other businesses. Our party of 3 arrived at 7:45pm on a Friday night to a pretty quiet restaurant. There were only 2 other parties dining- one being a table of about 8-9 guests. The staff let us know we could pick our own seats and provided us with menus. The offerings here are very typically of what you would expect to find at a Vietnamese restaurant. Kudos for the vegetarian options for those non-carnivorous eaters. Dinner consisted of: *P14. RARE STEAK, FLANK, TENDON & TRIPE PHO (TÁI, NAM, GÂN, SÁCH) *L6. SEAFOOD (MÌ XÀO HẢI SẢN) Calamari, shrimp & fish ball *VIETNAMESE SANDWICH- GRILLED PORK [Cucumber, pickled carrot & daikon, onions, cilantro] So this is where the visit took a dive. The one male staff member cane by with a plate of veggies for the pho. What was provided had to be the worst portion and quality I had ever received. There was only one... YES, ONE!! sprig of basil and the basil was limp, crusty, and honestly just SAD!!! I was honestly ready to throw in the towel and mentally prepare myself for a poopy meal ahead. Thankfully, my guy spoke up and made a request with the gentleman in charge- he came out with an abundance of fresh thai basil. Food was surprisingly pretty good. My daughter enjoyed her seafood chow mein. The pho was alright but the broth could have been a bit more flavorful. The banh mi was my favorite of the night and i totally didn't see that coming. The sandwich wasn't aesthetically pretty on the eyes but the pork marinade was delicious. The cuts of meat were tender and the bread was soft yet crunch in all the right places. 4 stars overall. My only bit of advice is providing patrons with fresh, crisp herbs if you are going to skimp it down to 1 sprig per person.
