Dining al fresco with my meatball pho - very good and hit the spot!
    Vivian H.

I hiked 8 miles to Potato Chip Rock and afterwards, was feeling a bit dehydrated or kind of like a tire with no air, so after resting for a couple of hours, I found my body asking for soup and salt. And when that happens, it's usually a piping bowl of ramen or pho that will answer my body's asks, so I checked out this place! This restaurant is in a strip mall a few blocks from the pier (ok maybe more like a 15 min walk) literally next door to Sunshine Kitchen. Sunshine Kitchen had a lot of diners inside and out, and I felt a little FOMO while I stuck to my decision to eat at Pho Bowl & Grill. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have two tables for outdoor seating and since no one was sitting outside and the temp was nice enough, I asked to sit outside. No problem for the guy taking care of me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He was the waiter, the guy answering the phone, the guy making sure take outs/deliveries were happening and cashier, and he got it all done! What a magician. He was pleasant enough as Asian service is about getting down to business so he took my meatball pho and diet Coke order and got to work on it. Meatball pho was delicious and piping hot and the side veggies were all fresh and abundant. Meal was very casual, I ate and slurped in peace and then went inside to pay. Great, low key spot that makes good pho. Id definitely return.

Gotta say. Super impressed with the Pho. Great portions of the proteins (plenty of tripe, brisket, beef). Great pho. I also really was excited about the temperature. A lot of pho places lately have been serving it tepid and it's been really bothersome as they bring out the meat raw and it takes forever to cook. Not here. Nice and hot!! I'll be back and can't wait to try some of their other items like the spring rolls!!

The broth its self was not bad, just needed more of the pho flavor. It was served with plenty of meat and herbs which helped.

The best pho in SD North County! I ordered Rare Beef with tendons pho and it didn't disappoint. The broth was seasoned well, not too salty and not bland. The balanced taste was great. The meat was very tender and fresh. I also ordered Shrimp spring rolls and it was delicious. Service was fast and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was neat and orderly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will go back for pho cravings soon.

Good pho! I had the large chicken which had huge amounts of chicken white meat. Broth was a bit too sweet for me. Overall I'd still give it 5 Beer was reasonably priced also.

I can't believe I stumbled onto another hidden gem during a one-night road trip down south! I had to charge the 3 on my way back to Los Angeles - with the chargers packed, I had about 1.5 hours to kill. Looked around and found this pho spot. Checked Yelp: 4.4 stars. Not bad - let's give it a shot. And I'm glad I did. The broth had a beautiful, clean flavor - not overly sweet or salty - and the texture was nice and clear. Noodles were firm and perfect for slurping. The rolls didn't disappoint either - I practically gobbled them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Solid place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I love Banh mi! One of my favorite dishes! This was the worst banh-mi of my life. Stale chewy bread, dry meat, dry everything, really bad. Also got a noodle dish, really bad. Overcooked noodles, dry beef, supposed to be ribeye...but the bread takes the 1st place for worst of his class. Ended up putting the sandwich filling on the noodles, since the bread was so bad. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but serving this kind of food, it's absolutely disrespectful to the customers. Left feeling sadly disappointed. What a ripoff.

Grilled Ribeye Beef combo. Comes with rice and a small side salad.

We ordered grilled ribeye beef combo (BR4) and the Chef Special Pho Noodle soup, the meat was a letdown. Both the ribeye and the short back ribs were really chewy and hard to eat. The ribeye also severely lacked flavor. On the positive side, the pho broth was actually very good, but the tough meat ruined the overall experience.

Is it expensive... yes, but at least here you are truly getting quality ingredients, fresh (they will not serve you anything that's not in great quality, always ripe and ready , if not they will kindly explain the avocados are not ready and suggest another drink, and you will NOT be disappointed with what they suggest, I've never had a bad experience here and I've never had a bad drink ever here, I've actually only had top quality drinks here, seriously each have been consistently top tier in taste, texture, and presentation). Do your tastebuds a favor and try one of their smoothies. Don't wait money on processed sugary drinks that leave you feeling blah afterwards. I feel incredibly well after having their smoothies. Super satisfied. I get the avocado coconut with boba. This one I shared with my daughter.

A little pricey for three drinks but a nice treat nonetheless.

Those in my party that got the Oreo tea with boba, said it was mostly just ice and nearly no flavor. I saw it, it really was mostly huge cubes of ice. They finished it in less than a minute, it had that few liquid in it. The mango one a friend said was good. And the strawberry lemonade. So while I give it high stars for being my go to while at the mall, I had to take down the stars because some drinks were just sad and expensive for a few sips and done. If you've gotten it or get it youll see what they are talking about. Felt bad because 4 of us got yummy smoothies but the other 3 just got ice and few sips of muted Oreo water.

Luckily after a little research, we found Tea Monks. The parking lot was packed on a Saturday afternoon so I thought we would be in for quite an adventure just to find parking. Fortunately we were able to find a spot fairly quickly. The line was out the door for Tea Monks which can only be a sign that there is deliciousness waiting for us through the front doors. The line moved quickly which was both a pro and a con. Since it was moving so fast, we would have to make a choice from all of the great options. I was torn between the cabana berry smoothie and the green apple slushie. Ultimately landed on the slushie and decided to add strawberry pearl. There are a few small stools to use while waiting but not much room other than that. Fortunately our drinks were up in a matter of minutes. The first sip was heavenly and hit the spot. I'm always skeptical ordering "green apple" because I'm scared that the apple flavor will fall flat but this one was perfect. I could taste the apple and the tartness was great. The strawberry pearl was a perfect addition. I'm so glad we decided to stop here before heading home.

Luckily, we got there around 630ish (PM), because not too long after, there was someone coming in every 2 to 3 minutes until it was packed-this place is popular! Anyway, when we came in, we were told to just pick a seat anywhere we wanted. There are plenty of tables put together (family style) and once seated we were able to order right away. Like I said, after we came in, it started getting a little busy so the wait for our food was a little longer than I had expected (but not too bad, maybe about 10 minutes). However, we did order some spring rolls for appetizers and those came out right away..... later, when the broth came out it was nice and hot! Everything was delicious, the beef brisket and flank steak were flavorful on their own within the broth and nice and tender. Of course, the broth, like I said earlier was very flavorful and that's definitely what you want to expect eating pho. All of the wait staff were great, cheerful and happy/attentive. We'll definitely be back, as this is definitely our go to for Oceanside pho in this area.

A quick search on Yelp gave me a few decent options but Pho Oceanside won because they were opened later than the other businesses. Our party of 3 arrived at 7:45pm on a Friday night to a pretty quiet restaurant. There were only 2 other parties dining- one being a table of about 8-9 guests. The staff let us know we could pick our own seats and provided us with menus. The offerings here are very typically of what you would expect to find at a Vietnamese restaurant. Kudos for the vegetarian options for those non-carnivorous eaters. Dinner consisted of: *P14. RARE STEAK, FLANK, TENDON & TRIPE PHO (TÁI, NAM, GÂN, SÁCH) *L6. SEAFOOD (MÌ XÀO HẢI SẢN) Calamari, shrimp & fish ball *VIETNAMESE SANDWICH- GRILLED PORK [Cucumber, pickled carrot & daikon, onions, cilantro] So this is where the visit took a dive. The one male staff member cane by with a plate of veggies for the pho. What was provided had to be the worst portion and quality I had ever received. There was only one... YES, ONE!! sprig of basil and the basil was limp, crusty, and honestly just SAD!!! I was honestly ready to throw in the towel and mentally prepare myself for a poopy meal ahead. Thankfully, my guy spoke up and made a request with the gentleman in charge- he came out with an abundance of fresh thai basil. Food was surprisingly pretty good. My daughter enjoyed her seafood chow mein. The pho was alright but the broth could have been a bit more flavorful. The banh mi was my favorite of the night and i totally didn't see that coming. The sandwich wasn't aesthetically pretty on the eyes but the pork marinade was delicious. The cuts of meat were tender and the bread was soft yet crunch in all the right places. 4 stars overall. My only bit of advice is providing patrons with fresh, crisp herbs if you are going to skimp it down to 1 sprig per person.
