I'm on Long Island, NY. I was dying for some pho and found this small place in Smithtown. To begin, just a little pricey but not too crazy,then again it is NY. I was disappointed with the veggies for the pho. I'm use to a lot more anyway that didn't ruin my meal. Started with the shrimp spring rolls. So good. Very minty ,wonderful taste and thickness. The shrimp dumplings will not disappoint. You get like 7 and they are so soft and tender. Highly recommend. The pho is one size,ginormous..paid $15.95 for the combo pho..it was worth it..wow,could not finish. Took half home. Over all experience, excellent. Water kept coming...mint water actually. I really love the food from this place we recently discovered it. First few times we ordered from doordash/uber and then finally stopped in to eat in house with friends recently...that was even better. I am in love with the chicken pho- the broth...the cilantro the bean sprouts..so good!! everything is so fresh. the only way this place could be better is by going all organic- (which im waiting for long island places to catch onto that to really ramp up ) If they did id be living off of it. While i was there unusually, I noted the beverages. I tasted their lemonade, the coconut water and also had two entire milk teas. All so amazing so fresh tasting - We also love the chicken buns appetizer and the scallion pancakes!!!. Came here for lunch. Authentic Pho, had the combo. Really big portion. Soup was probably the beat I've had in a while. Beef was slice extremely thin as it should be. Spring rolls and summer rolls were excellent as well. The pork chop with rice was tender and very flavorful. Usually they're a bit tough but here the grilled chops were very prepared. Pork vermicelli, thinly sliced. Would have liked it to be slightly thicker pieces but very good. Vermicelli was cooked perfectly not over or under done. Food is pretentious and grossly overpriced. Ordered the brisket pho. Soup was weak at best- 3 -4 small pieces of thinly sliced cardboard like pieces of brisket - price or 13.95 plus tax. With covid restrictions, carry out only- the establishment is serving pho in a super small bowl. Typically half the size of a normal serving. Hope they step up the game! Disappointing at best! We've ordered takeout several times now during the pandemic, food is always fresh and delicious. The delivery Pho is something I wouldn't order again; hard to do a review on Vietnamese without discussing Pho but delivery soup is hard to judge compared with piping hot out of the kitchen. The shrimp summer rolls (I think they're called) are delicious, my wife even enjoys them and she's difficult. Perfect for summer (the name says it all). Grilled beef is delicious, grilled chicken is delicious. Papaya salad delivery was good not great. Solid all around. My only real complaint is the lack of sandwiches on their delivery menu through Grubhub. Hopefully the owner reads this and fixes it. read more

What's not to love! The location is immaculate. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful. You put your order in on an iPad and it comes out within minutes! Great food and service. I went there craving for some Vietnamese food. The Apps were good, the Summer Roll with Shrimp was so tasty with the peanut sauce. The dumplings were okay, it's a little too doughy for me. The Papaya Salad would be my favorite, so fresh with a good balance of saltiness, sweetness and very savory. The Pho was a little disappointing, taste is not very authentic, the noodles were overdone and soggy probably because I didn't eat it right away when it arrived but overall a pleasant experience, I will definitely be coming back! read more

came in for the first time on a rainy day, so you know pho was the perfect craving. all i know is after my meal, i'm ready to take a nap now! i did read the reviews, and i think the lower rated ones were taken seriously by the owner bc my pho was very flavorful. i wasn't expecting this huge bowl, so i guess you are getting what you pay for. it's a ton of broth, not too salty. my only concern was that the brisket was a little tough for my personal preference, but my husband thought it was fine. the overall atmosphere was nice and clean. the staff was friendly and helpful. if you came during the first couple of weeks & this place didn't meet your expectations, i would say you should give this place another shot. at least the owner is taking the time to read to the reviews and take recommendations. i'm going to most likely fall asleep from how good the broth was, so that's successful to me i see they're also new to IG, so if the owner sees this and is in need of a photographer for content, @suitup.sulit & i are close by read more

I had been keeping an eye on this place opening for the last few months. I was excited to know that a new Vietnamese Pho place was going to be opening within walking distance to my house. They officially opened their doors on October 1. I generally have a rule to wait about a month or so when a new place opens up so that they can get their house in order, season up their cooking surfaces nice and good, and just work out any other kinks or problems that arise. However, with this place, I just couldn't wait, and I went there for lunch on the 3rd day they were open. I went in by myself. Was offered to sit at a table, but I preferred to sit at the bar. An iPad was placed in front of me and I was told to use that for my ordering. Luckily, I had seen the menu before hand and had a general idea of what to order. Sidebar - I spent a lot of time in the DC area, and there are PHO places everywhere as well as some awesome Vietnamese restaurants, so this is why I was excited to have something so close to home. I do consider myself some what of a PHO soup veteran. So of course, this place is called "PHO Fans." I'm certainly a fan of PHO, so that is what I ordered. I went with the first option on the menu, the D1 option, Pho soup, beef broth, beef eye round, brisket, & meatballs. Incidentally, reviewing the menu options for PHO soup, I didn't see anything too crazy. No beef tendon, no tripe, no other innards of any kinds. I think they kept their menu "safe" for this area, as most folks would probably be scared off by that stuff, which you do find in traditional Pho soup, or at least as an option. I also ordered the shrimp dumplings as an appetizer, and the Vietnamese Iced Coffee as my drink. The bar tender gave me my iced coffee pretty quickly, and WOW, it was delicious and packed a punch. The bar tender said that it "wakes you up" and I have no doubts! Only bummer was that my Pho soup came out prior to my appetizer, and at that point, i almost didn't want the the dumplings anymore, but they brought them anyway a few minutes later. They were good, but my focus was on the soup. They also gave me a plate of bean sprouts with some lime to put in my soup. Also, I like my soup a bit spicy, so I gave it a try without adding anything, and I did like the flavor, but it lacked kick. So I added a little Sriracha to the broth, and let it steep a bit with the sprouts. I also squirted the lime juice into my soup. I will say that I did enjoy the flavor. It was certainly a good spicy beef flavor and I enjoyed it. The only thing is that you get this massive bowl of soup, you put your garnish on it, but I felt like they were a bit light with the meat. What was in there was delicious, but it needed more. I noticed when ordering that it was an option to add extra meat, and I will be doing that the next time I come here, and there will be a next time. Also, I got a little heavy handed with the Sriracha, so the broth became very spicy, and it cleared up my sinuses. When I lived in Virginia, if I felt the slight inkling of a cold coming on, I would run out and get some Pho, spiced it up, and that would knock out whatever was trying to come on. I see no reason why the Pho from PHO FANS wouldn't do the same. From a service perspective, I felt the staff was doing their best. They seem to use a team approach which is great. They were fantastic at answering all my questions. English is NOT their primary language, but if you're patient, you can communicate with no problem. I'm glad Pho Fans is here, and while I was there, it appeared as though lots of people felt the same. The front door was constantly opening and closing, lots of people coming in for lunch and picking up to go orders. I can, without reservation, highly recommend this place. Come get the PHO!! I have been wanting to try this spot since they've opened. I really wanted the general tsos but decided to pick the sesame chicken. It was great flavor but the chicken was pretty chewy. Rice wasn't stuck together and was very good. I also tried the shrimp shu mi and I felt it tasted a little better at room temperature than super hot .. which is just a preference. I'm a little nervous to try again since it's a little pricey but I work close by so I probably will since the reviews all seem to be so good. read more

I had never tried Vietnamese food. I was in the area and saw their sign and figured I would give it a shot. I ordered the D1. beef broth with eye round, brisket and meatballs to go. When I arrived home I noticed that it was all nicely packaged separately. A soup-sized bowl had the noodles and the meat, a 1 quart plastic container held the broth. The bean sprouts, lemon wedge and Thai basil were in a separate Ziploc bag. A small container of unknown sauce was also included in the order as well as chopsticks. Again....Although I have never tried Vietnamese food, I must agree with the other reviewer that the broth was pretty bland and tasteless. The meat could not have weighed more than 2 ounces in total and was not plentiful. The meatballs and brisket tasted like they had been in the refrigerator for a few days. The eye around was fresh-tasting and rare and tasty although it needed to be cut up because it was quite large yet thinly sliced. The staff definitely did not speak English well as when I asked them what they would recommend to a first-timer they looked at me puzzled. They did appear to be new to this and getting acclimated to the new environment so I will give them a pass on that. The best part of the whole meal was the small container of sauce which added a tremendous amount of flavor to the dish when I dumped the whole thing in. I need to find out what that sauce was. Another comment is that although the menu mentions caraway seeds are in the dish, there wasn't a single one to be found so not sure about that. Note the three meatballs in the menu picture. Only two were in my dish and they were cut in half to apparently either make it appear like more food or get rid of the refrigerator taste. I will give them a few weeks to iron out all the kinks and then give it another shot as the dish was tasty and well presented for a to go order. read more

We've eaten here plenty of times in the last 3 years and this last visit, as well as our last 2 visits left me extremely disappointed. When we first started coming here, the food was actually very good. Their broth, noodles and meat quality were on par with any reputable Pho noodle restaurant in Chinatown. The last few meals, the broth taste started to change. From a broth made with beef bones, marrow, and minimal seasonings, to a broth that tasted watered down and made from chicken or vegetable stock. Flavorless and bland. Portions also diminished. The amount of noodles remained consistent, but the amount of protein was extremely skimpy. My wife ordered the brisket, and I ordered the brisket with eye round. When the bowls were brought to the table, the meat selection was placed on top of the noodles. My wife's dish contained 5 thin slices of brisket, about 4 inches in length. My dish had 3 slices of half sized brisket and maybe 4 slices of eye round. Their portions were quite generous in the past, and we've noticed this and in the last few visits as well as take out, protein quantity becoming skimpy. Their prices have gone up a little, but that is to be expected in the current climate. I wouldn't mind paying more for the same quality and consistency we sampled before. I hate to see a successful restaurant diminish food quality, increase prices to remain in business and possibly lose customers in the process. read more

First time here and I have nothing negative to say. Staff was extremely attentive and friendly and the food came out quickly. Pho was tasty and a touch sweet but well balanced. All the meat was flavorful and cooked well. Coffee was classic and not oversaturated with condensed milk so it actually had the proper coffee flavor.
