I have been going to this Vietnamese establishment for many of years. I went here right before a snowstorm because I was craving some hot, spicy pho. I had the Bun Bo Hue without pigs feet. I felt like they didn't notice when I came in so it took awhile to finally get seated and a menu. They then forgot to give me my hot tea which is usually complimentary. The prices on the menu are pretty decent and a large bowl of pho lasted me like 3 days. In a short time, I was brought a big bowl of pho. It was spicy but not crazy hot. The place ran out of chili oil which was very disappointing. The waiter even forgot to give me my sides for the pho such as bean sprouts and Thai basal. The portion was so good and big I got a to go bag. The place is cash only, so I had to pull money out of the ATM then headed to the front to pay. The chicken is very noticeable smaller and it did not come with the chicken eggs and liver. The broth tasted light and kind of tasteless. The ratio of noodle and broth was not good. Too much broth and not enough noodles. The dipping sauce was really good though. I liked the added touch of ginger. Overall, this place was good but not the best in the Philly area for chicken pho. I was reflecting on my 2012 review of Pho Ha while enjoying a bowl today and while I realized little had changes, it was still worth a refresh. In a nutshell, their Pho has the same great quality/portions/selection with only slightly increased prices (I mean, it has been 10 years!). Pho Ha is one of my go to places for Pho in Philadelphia. You can order pretty much any combination of Pho you heart would desire. They offer a small bowl, or for less than a dollar, you upgrade to a large (which means you should just upgrade to the large). It is usually promptly brought out to you. Pre-COVID, if I felt at all sick, I'd head to Pho Ha to cure me and it seemed to work magic. Just over $10 still fills you up. They also serve other dishes, which I can honestly not describe since I've never strayed away from their Pho. I have enjoyed a few of their drinks as a nice dessert type treat on the few occasions I'm looking for more to eat. The only change I really noticed over my years of coming to Pho Ha is that they now accept credit card. That gives me even more reason to enjoy a big bowl of Pho. read more

Came here for Vietnamese food and got the pho chin, bun special, and pho ga tuoi. The bun was terrible. It was such a weird combination that did not go well together at all. The pho bowls were a decent size (we got the large) with a decent amount meat but not that much noodles. The beef and chicken does taste a little different after the beef is cooked in the broth. They have a parking lot but it can be hard to find parking since it is shared with a lot of other restaurants. It was savory, sour but not too much, lemon grass and little spicy. My friends tried my soup and they love it as well. Philadelphia is a fantastic small, "Big City" or big "Small City" as you'd have it! What gives Philadelphia "Big City" status is the fact it has a pro baseball, basketball, football and hockey team. At least that's my definition! What makes it a small city if the fact it's actually, small; though, the food scene here is big! Today for lunch, this was reaffirmed by this wonderful Vietnamese restaurant - Pho Ha. Their menu looked like a street food kiosk in Hanoi. The Pho's, Hu' Tieu (noodle bowls) and Bun Kho (rice-vermicelli bowls) Com Tam (broken rice bowls) all looked fantastic. I settled on their #8 which was this lovely Vermicelli with grilled pork and two terrific condiments. It was a large $11 lunch. I also ordered Cha Gio spring rolls that were fantastic. We've been getting takeout from Pho Ha for quite some time now. It has become our trusted spot for Pho and especially Bun Bo Hue. The broth for the Bun Bo Hue has just the right amount of spiciness, sourness, and saltiness. I haven't found another place that makes better Bun Bo Hue than them. The restaurant always packs the takeout orders super neatly and their portions are very generous. I just wish they would be more consistent about the fishcake in the Bun Bo Hue. Been eating regularly at this spot for over a decade, and it is still one of my favorite bowls of pho in the city! You get a lot of food for the price and it is packed with flavor. I recommend the Pho Dac Biet (the special) which includes every cut of beef besides the beef ball. There is plenty of sitting room in the restaurant and a free parking lot, but it fills up quickly on weekends, particularly Sundays around noon.
