The pho here is by no means any good. I do not know how it has stayed open. You walk in and instead of getting a whip of a pho smell, it's a weird musty, dirty, garbage smell. Please beware of the quality and cleanliness of this place. Redeeming qualities include great meat to noodle ratio. Price is not eye gouging. Service was okay. This particular pho restaurant is very special to me. It's one of the first restaurants where I first tried pho about 20 years ago. It's also the restaurant where I was eating where I closed on my first home as well as when I sold my first home. The large bowl is appropriately sized. Surprisingly solid spot. Came here on a whim with friends. The staff were very patient while half of us took awhile to arrive. All the appetizers were straight fire (I think we got 1-4). It was busy but not packed at the time and they played some throwbacks in the speakers. Three of us got pho and I'm glad I got a medium (pictures) because the large is huge. Like HUGE HUGE. It is the BEST to chow down a bowl of hot noodles when they first brought them out from the kitchen:) Pho Ha haven't change in their portions at all. This delicious Vietnamese dish and PHÒ devours come all the way from @phohasouthphiladelphia but they're northeast Philadelphia location. Wow here I've noticed that there were some things that were on the menu that weren't on the menu at their other locations. I thought this was quite interesting so I chose something that I haven't tried yet. I first ordered the oxtail PHÒ and added shrimp with a side of white rice. The bathrooms are really clean it up to par. The staff is really nice and welcoming. They check on you every 5 to 6 minutes to make sure that you have ordered and everything came out correctly. once my food was delivered to our table, listen, I have tried a lot of this dish in my life as well as teaching myself how to cook it at home. I have never taste something so excellent ever with this dish. The broth was very tasteful, the ingredients were very fresh, the oxtail was falling off of the bone, and the shrimp was very fresh. This is okay place considering the other options on Washington Ave. Pho ha is a bit cheaper than the other places as well. I ordered the noodle bowl with pork, egg roll, and veggies. The bowl is big, but there's more noodle than meat. The pho tai was good. The broth meets expectations although my wife didn't like the aftertaste of it (a bit watery). That warm inviting aroma that comes off that larger than life bowl. The egg noodles, or rice (which ever you like) that is laying in there with different add ons waiting for you to slurp it up. The different condiments you can add to your soup to that will bring it to a whole different level. This will pretty much will enhance the flavor even more. Trust me you can't go wrong, with the extra scallions added for good measure. Plus if you go with any type of pork or steak , this will bring it again to a different level. Different levels of deliciousness in a bowl made just for you! I LOVE IT and so will you !! The quality and quantity is unbelievable, their large bowl will feed 2 people. Maybe 3 if you include a small child. The menu if you want to venture away from the Pho, also looks amazing. The establishment is clean, the service can be a little slow though. That is a minor flaw that I am really not to worried about, seeing what they serve and how its made. I can look past it , and so can you. My usual order is pho ga but I got the rare steak which was mostly great, only a little bit of fat/gristle, which is one thing I do not like about a lot of pho. I eventually gave up and parked four blocks away (though there were certainly spots only two blocks away, as I discovered walking back). John and Kevin opted for the pho tai chin nac, and I went for my baseline pho dac biet (#15). With acceptable tea at each table, I felt content to forego my usual ca phe sua da. The pressed glasses of condensed milk behind the counter prove that it's still a popular drink here, though. Garnish came out with our waters (very fresh veg, nothing was wilted; extra kudos for ngo gai), and the wait was reasonable with how crowded the place was. Goi cuon were slightly on the small side, standard chopped peanuts over hoisin. Shrimp was more dominant than the jalapeno pork salad. Rice vermicelli and wrapper gave the rolls a nice chewiness, with the length of green onion cutting through just enough to tingle the taste buds. Our pho arrived a minute or two after the rolls. A large was way too big a portion for me when my appetite was still asleep at lunch. Separating those thin slices right away is key. Broth could've used more star anise but it was nicely fatty. Rounded up to four stars because this was some of the freshest tendon and tripe I've ever had at a pho joint. I ended up having just enough left to completely fill one of the big styrofoam to-go cups; the volume of noodles is crazy. The only other thing keeping it from five stars for me is the grain cut of the lean steak, which was also the most prolific meat ingredient. Wandered over here after Church with some of my friends and I usually get their large house pho special but decided to try the phone beef stew. I must say it has a more veggie broth test with the hints of carrots and beefy-ness. Although, I was still hungry after eating the meal. This is the most authentic pho place I've found in Philly so far! (And I grew up eating pho) (And places I've been to include Vietnam Cafe, Vietnam Restaurant, Vietnam Palace, Pho Cali, Pho and Cafe Saigon, Nam Phuong, Nam Son...) The portions are huge and delicious. Since I'm not a particularly large eater, I usually go with the kid's size pho bowls, which are pretty filling on their own, but the regular sized bowls are a great deal if you are really hungry. The ingredients are fresh and come in generous amounts. I highly recommend the flank steak pho, which comes with tender, thinly cut slices of steak. What really makes the pho authentic here is the broth. They definitely know how to make a good pho broth. This is more of a casual place than a restaurant where you would go to enjoy the ambiance, but the food comes out very quickly, it's reasonably priced, and extremely delicious! Definitely my go-to place for authentic pho. If this restaurant wasn't so out of my way, I would probably come here every day! read more

Pardon me for jumping right into descriptions of the food, but that is really what Pho Ha is all about. It's no frills. It's a bit tacky. But the Pho is good enough to keep me coming back. Among the perils with which one will have to contend, is a woman I refer to as the dragon lady. She is very loud, and not at all friendly. Also, one of the servers let's his children run around screaming like banshees on the moors. One does also wish that one's ears weren't served horrible asian pop music as a side dish...but alas. Even with these host of indignities, I walk up to 6th and Washington regularly. A small #1 from Pho Ha seems to right wrongs in the world, and make the most obnoxious circumstances palatable, if not amusing. I got my Pho dish first, but I would have liked to get my summer rolls first. There was some clear bacon looking substance in my summer roll that I didn't really like. It was incredibly chewy so I took it out of the summer roll. Other than that, they were pretty decent. Didn't taste very fresh though My pho was good, the steak was a little tough but broth was decent. My pork chops though were not up to my standards. They were dry and not enough seasoning. This used to be my fav spot to get a super quick pho bo or delicious grilled pork chop on rice. We used to eat there at least once every few months and ordered a ton of foods to go. It was fast service, affordable, and just the right 4-star rating. Recently, the ownership must have changed hands or the chefs changed, the whole vibe was different when we came in last Sunday. The service took 20 mins to get our pho (which is pretty much unacceptable in Vietnamese restaurant for foods to come out. Especially pho since everything already cooked/sliced, just a matter of assembling it on a bowl). We ordered our usual beef pho dac biet and grilled pork chop on broken rice and the grilled meat came out sliced and not on the bone. Pho was watered down. They didn't have bean sprouts with our pho, and the soup spoon was also out. Everything about a solid vietnamese experience was not there, not fast and not delicious, and the reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because it's still cheap. Won't be back. read more

I went here once 30 min before closing one night and they were sweeping up and stacking chairs but they not rush me at all! The food here is not the best or the most quality Vietnamese food I've had but it's inexpensive and comforting. The taste of the pho here can vary. Some days the broth is flavorful, other days greasier, and some days kind of flat/diluted. Pho 75 down the road offers better cuts of meat, generally better quality ingredients (e.g. no wilted leaves on your basil or yellowing sprouts), and their broth is fairly consistent. However, the prices are a couple dollars higher and the portion sizes smaller. I like both depending on my mood. I will always come back to Pho Ha because of the convenience and delicious cheap eats. Really disappointed in my experience here last night. I ordered the vegetable pho (#56). When I went to pickup, I verified with the cashier that there are no meat products in it. He confirmed. Once I got home, I opened the broth which was packaged separately from the noodles and vegetables and could tell immediately that it smelled like meat. I called the restaurant and the man on the phone said that it is chicken broth. I mentioned that I am vegetarian and specifically checked to make sure there are no meat products. I asked if there is any vegetarian broth I could come pick up. He said no and offered no recourse or refund. At this point, I was so hungry I ended up putting plain boiling water in my noodles. Spoiler alert.. it was not good. I'm sure this place is great for meat eaters and my friends really enjoyed their meals but I will not be coming back. They were not at all considerate of my dietary restrictions and I am concerned about how they may handle other dietary restrictions or allergies. read more

I've been coming here since I was a toddler and I remember everything. Now that im older im able to finally give Pho Ha it's recognition, the staff is SUPER friendly in a good family way. Especially Hoa and Will!! I always tip every server very well simply because they treat you like family there. The store is always very clean and room temperature. Their signature dish which is Pho is ALWAYS amazing, they even help you if you have a kid that can only eat from a child size bowl. Their Com Ga is even better. Everything I try a different restaurant I always come back to Pho Ha. One thing to note is their plaza parking lot is VERY full so get there in the morning time to avoid parking jams. My first real pho experience! After comparing and contrasting reviews for several popular spots for pho, Pho Ha came out on top. You cannot beat the fact that there's parking! Free parking in the city - happy day! I like lean proteins and steer clear of anything outside of that category. So I took another Yelper's advice and ordered the #2, with lean beef and brisket. My dining companion, Maggie L, ordered the shrimp pho. A plate of sprouts, basil and jalapeños was set on our table, and a few minutes later, huge (and I do mean huge) bowls of pho were placed in front of us. Y'all, it is really hard to eat slippery noodles with chopsticks and a small spoon! I probably could have done way more damage, but I essentially gave up after successfully shoveling all the protein (and only some of the noodles) into my mouth. Two large bowls set us back $17 (plus tip). Cash only. What a deal! Looking forward to trying this again and hoping to be a bit more successful with my technique. Open to suggestions! read more

Usually it's the Cheese Steak that we get when we are in Philly, but this time it was Pho. Pho Ha is located on a Plaza and in an area full with Vietnamese restaurants. Pho Ha became our choice because of the many Yelp reviews, and it is the first Pho restaurant you see driving up to the Plaza. The Pho restaurants I know are storefronts, little whole in the walls, but Pho Ha is a serious big place. All though big in size, it still gives you that family restaurant atmosphere. Due to the grandkids walking around while the parents are obviously cooking our Pho and granddad keeps an eye on his descendants. The bowls are big and filled with delicious broth, there are two sizes of big; small big and large big... These bowl are no joke, and sooooo tasty and for $6.50 per bowl you can't go wrong. This place serves a solid bowl of pho with just the right flavors. I loved the broth. However, the noodles and meat could have been better. The noodles came out a little undercooked. Luckily, the broth was so hot that by the time I was half way through my meal the noodles were a little bit softer. The meat was not as tender as I am used to. All in all, broth is my favorite part of pho and slurping it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. The area of Philly that I live in has a very limited selection of asian food and the one pho place is Main St Pho. The broth at Pho Ha is MUCH better. However, I think Main St Pho has more meat. Quick to be seated. Went with the weekend only special that is supposed to be spicy. #28 Phò bò kho beef stew served with carrot was not spicy at all and a lot of fatty gross gristly pieces. The broth was ok but needed a little salt and helped adding the sriracha. Not as fast in delivery to table as pho 75 but this is the 2nd pho spot I've tried. I have gone to Pho Ha way back in the days and had remembered it being relatively good and I had always enjoyed myself, however when I had gone back recently the food was completely off in terms of authenticity. I am lucky to have been born Vietnamese and have had many encounters with good and bad Vietnamese food however, when I was craving some pho my first thought was okay we're near Pho Ha let's go! Our server brought us out all our bowls within like 10 minutes and when we dug in, but my face immediately dropped. The broth was bland and there was barely any toppings on my Pho Dac Biet. I ended up not finishing my bowl and we all had the same thought and had left with all our bowls sorta full. Keep in mind that this review is based off a Vietnamese person who eats pho pretty oftenly, so for some people who may try pho for the first time it may be pretty good to them. Now the only reason why I'm even giving a 2 star versus 1 is because the service was still good. They were attentive and really quick to get us what we needed and honestly it wasn't any of the server's fault that the broth wasn't up to par. As a Viet person I would definitely say this place is authentic. We came here on a Sun afternoon and there was no wait. Place is big and clean. Bathroom modern appearing. Overall I like the pho here. There is many variety and even a "customize" your own way option. I like the #2 pho chin nac and tai because it has the leanest options of meat. The broth is savory. Please add veggies, lemon, hoisin sauce and sriracha. This really make the soup come alive. I also recommend the rice dish with grilled pork and egg quiche. It is large savory and has a great taste. The fish sauce gives it nice flavor and grill meat moist. Also had the Bun Bo Hue. It's a southern soup that is spicy with lemongrass. It's ok here but not as legit as the pho. The meat is not typical of the dish and it lacks the tangy lemongrass flavor. However it's passable. Overall this is an authentic place for some great pho.
