We used to go to Viet Huong often when they were at 11th and Washington Ave. This was our first time at this new location so I was excited. This location is definitely smaller than their original location, but plenty spacious enough. It was a fairly hot day when we went, but as soon as we entered we were hit with more heat. They have a large window in the front entrance part and I think the heat gets absorbed. Unfortunately, the AC was not cool enough... I ordered my favourite grilled pork and spring roll bun (vermicellie), and my husband ordered the flat rice noodles with beef. My husband said his dish was okay. The prominent flavour was black pepper, but they did not skimp on beef. I liked my dish, it tasted fresh and the pork was seasoned just right. I am giving this place 3 stars for now, even though the food was pretty good and the service fairly good. As we're waiting for the food I heard a loud sneeze from the kitchen. You know that sneeze when one does not cover their mouth. We were seated closer to the entrance (thus, further away from the kitchen) and we heard the sneeze. Am I picky? I don't think so. I've been to this place for pho twice before and just ordered 35 banh mi for my kid's birthday party today. We love the pho broth at this place-- it has a unique mild sweetness that we haven't tasted at other pho places in Philly. The service is attentive (says a lot for an Asian place) while dining in, and Blake was so easy to work with for the catering order. All our guests loved the banh mi today, and I didn't even get to try all the types before they were gone! Oh man. Ohhhhh man. They're back baby. And it tastes so, so good. When the original Pho & Cafe Viet Huong in the Wing Phat plaza at 11th and Washington closed during lockdowns, it left a metaphorical Vietnamese sized hole in my heart. Too many spring rolls and raw beef salad might also have left a literal hole in my heart, but that's neither here nor there. Seriously. I would tell friends about Viet Huong and how every spot I'd been to didn't have the same bo kho (beef stew), or that their banh mi didn't hit like Viet Huong's. And the diagonal cut fried spring rolls? It sounds like psycho stuff but you put that pointy bad boy in a lettuce wrap with some mint and you learn the wisdom of the diagonal cut. But then I got on Reddit complaining about how I can't find good bo kho since Viet Huong closed, and some internet stranger commented "didn't they reopen down near Oregon Ave?" Well, the rumors were true - Pho Viet Huong (which ironically does still have a cafe) is now open. I recognized the host. Not sure he recognized me, but right then I knew what was happening was real and not a dream. Every dish still hits. EVERY one. The menu is a little smaller but let's face it you weren't ordering most of the things in there anyway. See my old review of Pho & Cafe Viet Huong because it's still true. Prices are higher than I remember - whose prices aren't? But, then we settled up having had an app and two entrees and it was only $40 after tip. Go there. Throw darts at the menu. I decided to try here on a whim. I'm glad I did. I got an order of the spring rolls and a P1. The spring rolls were very crunchy and flavorful. The broth of the Pho was delicious and so were the meats. I usually go to a different Pho place in south Philly but this one beats it. I also tried the Vietnamese iced coffee. It was very strong, just the way I like it. The restaurant was very clean and had good vibes. I'm surprised it wasn't packed on a Saturday night. This place is way too good to not be consistently busy. I may have come at a weird time but my point still stands. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Their Vietnamese Iced Coffee is authentic and so good! I also got Bun Bao, shrimp/pork summer rolls and fried fish balls. All very delicious. These were items in their "to go" area. So, very convenient. The place looks very cozy and I will definitely try their pho one day. read more

Good place to stop for a bite post Phillies/ Marlins baseball game, despite the way the Red & White blew the lead and caved in the rule shortened extra innings. In a small strip center on Front Street, the dining room is fairly large, the Vietnamese menu comprehensive and the service basic, but adequate. We ordered Lemongrass grilled Beef w Vermicelli and Grilled Pork Banh Mi for the designated driver (moi). Both received strong reviews. My buddy had praise for the spicy noodle dish, working his way through the large bowl of ingredients and splashing the sweet vinegar onto everything before devouring the contents. He practically sucked up everything while handling the chopsticks as best he could. The Banh Mi was first class in fresh crisp torpedo roll, stuffed with thin sliced grilled pork, lots of jalapeños, daikon radish, carrots, cilantro and light mayo. Enjoyed every chew. My friend's service dog rested quietly under the table, trained well enough to not beg despite being hungry from the long day at Citizens Bank Park. I felt a bit guilty eating above him, but these animals are trained so well because they have to deal with so many situations. I suppose the doggie treats he was snacking on throughout the day kept him satisfied. Pho Viet Huong was a good alternative to the nearby cheesesteak palace that was closed on Easter Sunday. Was really in the mood for pho and landed in this newer place in the area. The menu is extensive- they have options for pho, rice, vermicelli, rice rolls, etc. Service was super quick and the prices were reasonable. The decor is very simple and it's a very accessible place to grab lunch. Started with the summer rolls which were of a decent size and lots of filling, but I'm used to the sauce being a bit ticker/more substantial with more peanut-forwardness. Probably wouldn't get this again here. For mains, we got pho with flank/lean beef/brisket and rice rolls. The former was really nice: super clean broth that did nicely when I added some chili oil and the other traditional add-ins. Really lovely overall. I'm not a huge fan of rice rolls but the option here was interesting as it came with fried shrimp in a way that was more fritter-like than I would expect? So I actually very much enjoyed this. I was excited holding that this maybe was where viet huong disappeared too from the 12th street / washington plaza. I happened to be across the street at autozone and saw it and zoomed over. The pho broth was realllllly light. It wasn't bad I still enjoyed it but it wasn't as rich as I'm accustomed too. I got a dessert from the cafe of to-go orders. The tapioca coconut and plantain however the plantain slices were realllly crunchy and the coconut tapioca kind of had a tang to it which was a bit odd. Visiting from FL, our family stopped in for lunch, and we all enjoyed the food. Atmosphere was very modern and clean. We got the summer rolls, your standard roll...but the dipping sauce was really good. I think it was hoisin sauce mixed with fish sauce, with crushed peanuts. It wasn't as sweet as some other places that usually mix in peanut butter. We enjoyed that sauce. We also ordered the meatball banh mi (with meatball on the side). We prefer to dip the bread into the sauce. And the meatballs are so juicy. A must try!! We also got the banh mi with grilled pork. The meat tasted good and not dry at all. I think it's the pickled carrots and daikon were excellent too. It always makes the banh min hoagie for me. And the butter or mayo that they smear on. It was really rich. (Not your regular mayo...or even kewpie mayo.) We also got the pho tai. Soup was piping hot and so flavorful!! Just awesome. Some of the best pho we've had in a long time. I got the rice flake with cha lua (like a steamed pork/fish cake) and fried shrimp cakes (shredded sweet potato, taro, and shrimp). It was very tasty. We can't find any places that have the rice flakes in FL, so I just had to get it. It had all the fixings with mint, fried shallots, blanched bean sprouts. And the best part is the fish sauce. Tasted like home made - strong flavor, a little sweet, a little spicy. Perfect for the dish. Kids finished off the meal with taro boba and a durian shake. Standard. Iced Vietnamese coffee was extra strong and so good. From the deli counter, we got some green layered jelly. Kids loved it. But I did not try it. And we also got some mango slices with this spicy salt. OMG. So good. And I don't know what kind of mangos they had but it was dry and super crunchy and sweet. (Not the regular sloppy mango.) I wanted something not too sweet. The lady behind the counter suggested the grass jelly with basil seed drink for me. It was surprisingly refreshing. Not too sweet, once you get used to the jelly flavor. And the basil was just as fun to eat as boba. I kept trying to bite the tiny things in half. It was quite satisfying. First time trying this new Pho spot. I got the beef pho with meatballs, steak, and flank. It was so good and the broth was so rich before adding any of the sauces! The service was really nice and all the staff were really friendly. The owners are nice people. The inside is clean and the ambience is quiet and chill.
