My co workers and I stopped here for lunch. Friendly staff and we were quickly seated and taken care of. I got the passion fruit green tea and it was delicious! This was my first time trying the Dough Zone. The restaurant is nice, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. The service was good and our server was very friendly. We tried a variety of items. The Green Onion Pancakes were delicious. The Spicy beef sandwich was good as well. We had an order of the Five Spice Beef Shank - for me, the beef was a little tough, but the spices were good. The Chicken wontons were good, but were served cold - I'm not sure if that is normal or not. I would have preferred them hot. We also ordered some noodles which were tasty. Xiao Long Bao lovers, this is the spot! If Din Tai Fung is all about clean, consistent flavors, this place has that extra punch of soul and depth. Think of it as a place with more "handmade charm." If you want a nice ambiance and polished service, go to Din Tai Fung. If you're after something more casual, flavorful, and budget-friendly -- come here. The service is just okay (neither great nor bad), and the interior isn't anything special, but the food is really good. Honestly, I think their xiao long bao and cucumber appetizer taste even better than Din Tai Fung's. We usually order the Dan Dan noodles and the shrimp & pork potstickers, but today we tried the steamed version -- juicy and delicious! The Q bao is my husband's favorite. I have taken some of my friends and family here a few times that I thought its about time I leave a review. When you arrive, you either enter your name in for a waitlist if its busy or if they have availability they will seat you right away even if your whole party is not there yet. They will give you a menu to order off of and you can order as many quantities as you need. They also give you as much time as you need so no rush. Once done, they give you to-go boxes if needed but they dont usually rush us to leave unless they are getting busy and need seats. Overall, its decent for dumplings. Dough Zone has been a staple local dumpling chain in the Seattle area similar to another popular international dumpling chain - but from what I've seen Dough Zone has been a more affordable option with similar quality. I've visited Dough Zone at many different locations and can confidently say that they've all been very consistent in their quality of food and their environment is all familiar. The Renton location isn't too different from the others, I do like that it's in an area filled with other activities and shopping, so this Dough Zone makes it convenient to grab a bite after being around in the area for a while. The Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) are tasty and filled with warm soup. I prefer the pork and beef options over the other fillings. The pan-fried dumplings are good, the crispy outside gives for a satisfying bite. The flavour isn't anything special though. I thought the noodles were okay but my partner liked them. I would like to give Xiner her flowers because she was nice, and actually spoke to us? Once we were seated no one spoke to us. No one greeted us and asked how we were doing. When my table asked for hot water there was no "can I get you anything else?" Not even and "ok". The hot water came in plastic cups? Idk about you but in my life time plastic and hot things don't really go together. I looked across the table and the table next to us got a cup that you would expect for hot water and a kennel. When we were done ordering we put it at the end, a few people walked by us and we actually waived someone down and handed it to a lady walking by - didn't review the order with us, just took it and left. Overall just feeling super disrespected. The staff also left a tray on the limited table and we took as many photos as we can, as documented as staff would come by and drop off food around the tray, and when there was no more space they started putting the food on the tray. When things finally started filling up we flagged someone down to grab the tray, we asked "can you take the tray"and he reached for the bamboo steamer, "oh and the tray" his response "yeah I know" and walked away. Why was everything a chore? Just so you know, the serving tray does not get washed as regularly as dishes. The food tastes like how the franchise intended. But when you walk away from a place where you're feeling like you never want to come back - how the food taste doesn't matter at that point. I had visited a Dough Zone in downtown Seattle a couple years ago and enjoyed it. A group of us ladies came out to this location for lunch. I like that their menu is available on line. You check off the items you want on a paper left at the table, a staff member comes and confirms your choices with you and brings your drinks order. As the name states, there is a lot of dough involved in your meal. Fried and boiled dumplings abound. So many options. The menu is pretty large and we all chose a couple of items. Food arrives as it is ready so the dishes, brought by food runners, rotated throughout our meal. First, we started with beverages. I went with a pot of hot jasmine tea. It was light and floral with a lovely scent and mild taste. Others in the group went with cold beverages, of which there are a several. The cold beverages arrived in lidded plastic cups with a straw. I did not try the soup dumplings but one of the ladies was able to let the rest of us know to not just bite into the hot dumpling or you would scald your mouth! Make a small hole with your teeth and gently sip the broth out before you take a big bite to get at the meaty center. Pro tip ya'll. Don't burn your mouth. The spicy beef bun was so good! I could definitely eat a couple of these. The fried vegetable pot stickers are a bit greasy and definitely benefited by dipping into one of the sauces available on the table. I'm glad the menu has vegetable offerings. The chive pancakes are crispy, also a bit greasy and tasty. Chop sticks are on the table, no forks. We didn't ask for a fork and some of us were having a very entertaining time practicing our chop stick skillz. The restaurant is clean as are the restroom at the back. The dining room is bright and sunny. Staff were all pleasant. We ordered plenty of dishes (more than mentioned here) and left quite satisfied. I have been to multiple Dough Zone locations but haven't got a chance to review this location yet. When we walked in, the restaurant is bright and spacious, with plenty of table seatings. Came here around lunch time and it wasn't busy. The host greeted and seated us immediately. Like most restaurants, you have to scan the QR code for the menu. We ordered the usual soup dumplings and Q-bao buns. They also offered jianbing with crisps, which was new on the menu so we have to try that. Overall, the foods were all delicious and consistent with most of the other locations. I really liked the jianbing since it was soft on the outside and crispy in the inside with some heat added from the sauce. For desserts, we decided to order the banana naan bread which was a nice end to our meal. The naan bread was lightly stuffed with bananas, perfectly eaten with whipped cream. We will order this again when we come back! Imo I like dough zone for the variety of dishes that DTF doesn't have. Not to mention, there's plenty of parking nearby. A good variety of items to try out. The tea was basically a pot of hot water with a hint of chrysanthemum. I have had chrysanthemum tea at other establishments and it is always delicious, but here there was no flavour. The cucumber salad was the star of the table. Each bite was slightly sweet and very crisp. Our dumplings were served in baskets stacked on top of each other, they were not labeled, and when the server dropped them off he spoke so quickly and quietly, and walked away. We had to bite into each one to know what they were. Each one was so so, all were lacking in any spice or flavour. The pork buns were another highlight. The bun itself was light and airy, with the pork crackling with a savoury taste. The service was awful. Once our order was taken we were on our own for the most part. Next arrives our Five Spice shaved beef shank, which didn't last more than 7 minutes. After THAT the main attractions appear! We ordered the Pork Won-Ton dumplings along with your obligatory order of steamed Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings. To say we talked, drank and enjoyed ourselves was a given. This location is my second favorite to the International District location. But is still good, it's very tasty and clean environment. There's been maybe twice it tasted just a little different than usual but not enough to not come back. I always suggest getting on the wait list ahead of time especially in peak times. Two negatives: it's a bit pricey for the amount of food you get, especially noodles, so if you're looking to fill up for cheap this isn't the right place for that. Second: the small quantities, especially the noodles, means that they will be cold by the time you get them home after ordering takeout. The food is moderately expensive and good but not great with the exception of the Dan Dan noodles which are stellar. The pork xiao long bao are good but tend to be of a lower quality standard than at other restaurants I have frequented. They sometimes come over or under cooked, and sometimes are not fully closed. The vegetables are good but expensive for the amount you get and their spicy options are laughably not spicy. The tea, was molten, but not freshly brewed so it felt cheap and also was super difficult to actually enjoy. The cups were made of plastic and so the heat seeped through them and almost burned me a few times. It sucks to have to water down tea just to be able to drink it during you hour long meal. The service is basically nonexistent. If you want anything be ready to flag down an employee and then be ready to wait. The ordering menu is cool, but leaves a lot to be desired and gives no indication of size. The online menu is nice, but make sure to load it before entering because that place for sure has a wifi blocker or perhaps it's construction is such that signal is blocked regardless. Ambiance, well, there isn't any. It feels somewhere between a cafeteria and a loud sparse bar. The decor is vaguely noodle themed but nothing to write home about. The tables, the flatware, the spoons, the bowls, everything is both cheap and shaped or molded to make using it difficult. Just try to not spill soup on yourself, I dare you. Overall, go if you like dumplings, maybe it will satisfy your itch. It certainly is not the quality place I hoped it was, but if you want soup dumplings, 50 cents each isn't a terrible tragedy, if you get ones that are cooked to temp and not filled with holes. read more

Went here with a friend for dinner. I like how clean and well lit the place was. The music wasn't loud if there was any. It isn't usually what I expect when I go into an Asian restaurant because it's usually darker and not always the cleanest looking. I saw not only Asians eating here but other people. My usual thing that I look for is that the people eating at the place usually have the people of that ethnicity eating there also because that's when you know the food is going to be legit. The service was great. They followed up a couple of times and kept our waters filled. The food was decent. I don't recall what I got but I don't recall thinking it was the best I've had. It also wasn't bad to the point that it's hardcoded into my brain. I think I had an appetizer that were cucumbers with a spicy sauce. The way it was prepared was different, that I do remember, than what I'm use to. I do think I prefer it the other way. The place didn't have anything that nagged at me enough that it pulled me away from my conversation, and it was good because it's a good enough place to get lost in conversation with good company.
