It's always a solid choice for lunch and they had it as a lunch special and it came with a small bowl of their chicken pho broth with some noodles (very light in flavor) and an egg roll. The grilled pork had excellent flavor. I just wish the bowl had had more noodles. Service- 8/10 The lady was really nice but never came to check on me even though I was the only one in the restaurant. She only came to give me my food and drink but didn't come back after that. Maybe I was just hungry, but this meal was delicious!!!! Food was out super quickly. I got the imperial rolls and a vermicelli bowl with pork and both were phenomenal. My only suggestion would be to change the takeout containers. The imperial rolls were freshly fried and were so hot they did kinda burn through the container. The vermicelli bowl came in one of those styrofoam containers that has one big portion on the bottom and 2 smaller ones on top and it so I couldn't really mix it and ended up dumping everything into a large bowl to eat. read more

The pho had no flavor & the noodles tasted like they've been soaking in broth too long. I added flavoring & still just tasted like colored water. Not impressed. Wanted to try since it was near Oriental Gourmet so I could compare. It doesn't compare. OG has a much, much better broth and service and everything. I got the large Pho with brisket, meatballs, and tripe. All of the meat was unusually rubbery and chewy. Broth was fine. Plenty of ingredients as usual with Pho. Plus I hate when I am forced to pour in my leftovers into a narrow to-go bowl (cup). Take it in the back room and dump it in over a sink. I don't care if you spit in it. I won't know. But at least I'm not dumping gallons of fragrant and oily broth all over the table and myself as I attempt to transfer the lake-sized bowl contents into a narrow paper-towelrollesque styrofoam container! I'm sure it gives staff a much deserved wicked inner laugh that is probably quite satisfying, but come on! The only thing that saved it was the shrimp spring rolls with the most delicious dipping concoction sauce. That was excellent. Go to Oriental Gourmet. Get that Pho. Be happy. Lots of options. Convenient location. Fast service. Haven't had a bad meal here. As Vietnamese places go, it's not the best I've ever had, but it's the old standby- perfect for a quick lunch, takeout, or a casual meal. Hits the spot when you're craving pho or a vermicelli bowl. Their menu is really pretty large. Good Vietnamese coffee, great lemongrass shrimp and chicken (get it spicy!), good spring rolls and Imperial rolls, and pretty good pho, too. Lunch specials are awesome. Nothing much to the lunch soup, though. The flavor of the broth is great, but it only has vermicelli in it. Doesn't bother me, but it's worth noting. I've seen this place packed and I've seen it dead- it really varies. But they're able to turn tables very quickly, so even when there's a wait, it's never long at all. The servers are fast and the food is inexpensive. Kid friendly, too. This place really hasn't ever let me down. Give it a try, especially if you live or work in the area. read more

Initially, I was stuck between a one or two, but I finally settled with a two for one reason that I will explain below. I must also note that this review is for the pho only. I came on a whim during my lunch break. Service was slightly slow and I had at least two different employees come to my table. I couldn't figure out who was exactly my waitress. For me, when eating pho, broth is everything!! Pho Hoang's broth was absolutely flavorless. Good pho hardly needs any hoisin & sriracha and it seemed I couldn't keep my hands off of those bottles. The only reason I gave them a two was because you could choose up to 5 meats for the price. It seems as if I'm not the only one who was unimpressed with this place. My review is a few months late and their overall rating was higher back then. Sadly, the pho fell short for me. I will continue to go to my regular pho place when I'm in the mood for some yummy pho. read more

Not sure why this place is only 3 stars.... My go-to place for chicken pho! Haven't tried anything else on the menu, (except imperial rolls, also wonderful) but I've tried multiple other places around for pho, 2 of which are MUCH closer to where I live, but I'll gladly drive 20 minutes to get it here! I always get the large bowl, it isn't much more expensive and you get tonnnsss of meat and noodles and the broth is so flavorful. Ugh now I want pho again. (I did recently try the one on Bay Area that's actually closer to me, but the chicken broth was completely clear and had absolutely zero flavor, which was highly disappointing... maybe it was a bad night, but I'll just continue coming to this location.) Again, can't speak for much else on the menu unfortunately, but for pho this is the only place my husband and I will go! read more

I have eaten here many times over the last 10 years I ordered some food to go today spring rolls which we're good Egg rolls they were good but the pork chop G6 was terrible. First of all it was not a pork chop it was more like a pork steak and I also ordered vermicelli however they put on rice with it instead plus when I called they said I'll be 15 minutes will it take me 15 minutes to drive there and then I had with her 10 minutes for the order. This was the most okayest pho I've ever had. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE PHO! That said, it tough for me to jump out of my seat and give you 5 stars unless it's truly exceptional. I will note that at the same restaurant I've had variations of broth as is the case with any homemade item. Consistency is there but you will always have days where the broth is lights out and days where it's just meh. Maybe I went on a meh day? Our server was fantabulous and the amount of garnishments was good. I can't stand when they give small portions of bean sprouts and basil. I would be willing to give it another shot. In the case that it changes my view I'll let everyone know:) For now, if you are in the area (I'm looking at you NASA) and in need of some comforting pho this is a great option. read more

Good presentation with friendly faces but it seems to miss it in the most important spot, flavor. I love Vietnamese restaurants, I really do. I frequent them a lot! I know what certain foods are supposed to taste like and how they aren't supposed to tastes. Some would say that I am a food connoisseur but that wouldn't be accurate. I believe the term fatty would suffice for me. In any case, I came and ordered the soda chanh muoi, which I thought was good, along with the Pho Dac Biet and goi cuon. The goi cuon was about as expected, standard noodles, shrimp and mint leaves wrapped with rice paper. The only thing unexpected was chicken as the meat. Interesting, but fine. The Pho really tells the story here as I could not for the life of me completely enjoy it. It was too bland, I really wanted to like it but it just wasn't right for me. The noodle soup is really good. At first I was scared to get rare beef with it but it was thinly sliced and it cooked inside the hot soup. Definitely get the imperial rolls, the spring rolls were very refreshing also. It wasn't busy at all around lunch time and very close to the space center. read more

This place is very good....although it used to be amazing!! Still I would not hesitate to come here and bring friends. It just seems like the food is very inconsistent, even on the same day. My steamed rice today was delicious, while my boss's was a big messy clump. I always get the R&R Tofu and ask for it spicy! Yum! Today the tofu seemed a smidge soggy....not terrible, but it seemed to be lacking the crispiness from previous times. I know, I know.....4 stars and all I'm doing is complaining? Well, the Imperial roll was delicious! Hot and fresh and crispy and my coworkers raved about their spring rolls....and they looked delicious!! I'm kicking myself for not ordering one...or more! The portions are usually very generous; I brought half of my tofu and rice home to hubby who inhaled it cold! You used to order at the counter then go find a seat, now you sit where you want and they will bring you a menu. A nice touch but the service isn't that great. We finally had to go up to the counter and pay as they never brought us a check. I was craving pho and soup for my first and might have been the only proper meal today running around town more than I was planning to do. There were usually plenty of parking spots available but so unusually packed today that I had to park 2 rows away on one of the last two spots left, yes. So I was mildly surprised when I actually walked into an empty restaurant. I asked for a big pho with 5 choices of meats, lot's of fresh herbs and vegetables and lot's of hot chilli oil to go. The very young lad behind the counter delivered every extra thing I asked for in double portion, had a good knowledge of the ingredients, and even offered an ice cold glass of water that really answered my thirst while I waited. The pho and ingredients were fresh and delightful, and turned my day around like chicken soup for the soul, but that timely unexpected glass of ice cold fresh water was such a sweet gesture that it might as well be from a clear spring well along the ancient samurai route between Kyoto and Tokyo. Bottom of the story is, y'all come and experience this hospitality and nice gesture yourself, don't take my words for it but definitely don't let them go to waste. read more

They also included all the typical "fixings" on my DoorDash delivery which many times doesn't happen, so I was very happy about that. I am a vegetarian and ordered a vegetarian dish. Was asked if I wanted soup or salad. Most Vietnamese soups are chicken or pork based so I ordered salad. I get home and find dried chicken in my salad. I have a literal allergy toward animal meat due to inability to digest it. If you are vegetarian, ask for their ingredients within the dish. Can't really write a review on the food because I didn't quite make it there. Walked in and browsed the menu before placing a to go order. I asked for the imperial rolls and a veggie and noodle stirfry. She swipes my card and give me a merchant slip, no itemized in sight. I felt 20 plus dollars seemed a little off so I asked for an itemized copy, the young man at the counter had no clue what that was, I had to pull out an example for him from my bag. Sure enough, she did charge me for a Seafood Stir fry Noodle, I asked the young man behind the counter why I was being charged a Seafood price for vegetables, his response is "Oh, they'll add extra vegetables." Sure... I told him I thought that was shady and would rather just go somewhere else and to cancel my order but at that point it had already been made. It's not a big difference in monetary value, but the principal of it kind of really put me off especially considering they didn't give me an itemized to begin with, in which case I would have caught on immediately. The lady tried to hand me $5 in cash but at this point I no longer want to eat anything they've handled and they obviously aren't going to give me a refund so I left spending $21 and without food. The food was not bad, but the service was : I asked for the Rock n Roll Beef and specifically asked non spicy to what the girl agreed they could do it that way . The food comes in and it was not only spicy but super spicy when we told her about it she said : the chef said it was not . You could clearly see the spicy peppers flakes in the marinate... I'm not the type of person to return my food I'm just afraid of what could happen ( sorry but I'm just that way ) and I was super hungry Did they charged for the food : oh yes !!!! The. This Pho Hoang has no affiliation with the other on Bay Area, yet they both have bad food. While it's a staple for the tofu spring rolls, I really don't enjoy coming here. Usually the staff struggles with English which makes it hard to order, let alone communicate things like peanut allergies. The fried tofu spring rolls are good and we order them often; but their pho is bland and leaves much to be desired. The rock and roll dish is usually overly salty and the hot is super hot (which can be good if you love that). Shrimp on sugar cane is just sad, greasy and on almost burned sugar cane. Most dishes are served over a bed of wilting lettuce. It is just such a struggle here. I can't recommend it when there are so many pho places in Houston, and better spring rolls and banh mi at Springroll Express. read more

I give 3 stars because the service was really friendly and fast, the place was clean and very close to tourist areas (NASA, Kemah, Seabrook). For that, I'd give 5 stars. However the food, sadly, was not very good. In our party we had pho tai, pho bo vein, bun Thit nuong and won ton noodle soup. I tasted a bit of it all and it wasn't good. Meat in the bun (noodle) was thin and over cooked, fish sauce was just sauce....no carrots, garlic or pepper added like I'm used to. Won tons were not fresh....egg rolls had an unusual taste and I felt like they were probably home made but left to freeze too long. I feel sad to write the review because I feel the people there are so nice and probably have the best of intentions. I hope they can improve on the quality and flavor for better business read more

I eat here at the very least 2 times a week because I really truly love Pho Bo (Sliced beef brisket). The soup here is very very good and is served up hot and fresh. For someone with a less adventurous palate the Grilled Pork dish is delicious to any culture. The portions are healthy and fresh. However I must note that the service has been slipping further and further from the perfection that they had prior to the current owners purchase of the establishment. Sometimes (fairly often) the service is very good and other times (1/4 of the time) the service is in shambles. Ordering is more like suggesting and the staff bumbles even a simple modification, such as "No white onions" and you end up with no veggies in your soup at all. This place ABSOLUTELY deserves a shot for your lunch business as it is healthy and friendly. I cant give them 4 or 5 stars because if you were with a client or someone who is tough on service, they will likely find something to be unhappy with. read more
