two spring rolls and a salad
    Melody M.

I went with a friend to this place for lunch and was not disappointed. You can easily pass this place if you are driving because it appears small from the outside sandwiched between stores and the name doesn't stand out. Don't be deceived! The inside is pretty with tables spread to give space and privacy. They do dine in and take-out. You know the place is great when you have a steady stream of customers filtering in. They served the traditional Vietnamese food such as spring rolls to pho noodles or rice bowls. They also have specialty items and combos. The price is cheap but the flavour is big. They also serve vegetarian options that doesn't taste bland. Parking is on the street and if the bill is under $20, they only take cash.

    Pho Sate (vegan option)

I've been here about 5-6 times now, and at this point, I'd say their vegan pho sate ($17.49) is amongst the very best in all of Greater Van. See here for my rankings: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vngKOi1uI1Ynnggfny2levCEDw76iFRMKRVOiahd8s4/edit#gid=0 The broth is rich, peanuty, low on sweetness (my preference), not oily, and packs so much flavours. The veggies are copious (broccoli, cabbage, carrot, onion), you get plenty of deep fried tofu and perfectly cooked medium-width rice noodles, and garnished with crumbled roasted peanuts and thin cucumber slices, which I really like for the extra cruch. Service is prompt and friendly. It's cash/debit only, with a minimum $20 charge to use debit, so be prepared. Top recommendation.

Pretty good Vietnamese place that do delivery! Given the current situation of social distancing, we are left with not many choices of restaurant, especially Vietnamese food. I found out about this place on Uber Eat and tried it out. I order Buddha feast (vegan spring roll), bun thit nuong cha gio (lemongrass pork grill with noodle and spring rolls) and a classic pho (pho tai). All dishes are really good. The buddha feast is amazing and really big (left on my photo) and it goes with peanut sauce, yum! The portion is big and two of us can't even finish them all! I will definitely order more from them from now on.

I wanted Vietnamese but the place we wanted to go to was randomly closed. We decided to try a spot we haven't been to yet and settled on Pho Hong Restaurant. They specialize in beef noodle soup. We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around 1:00pm). The inside is huge and has the most random, unexpected decor. Christmas lights with flowers adorn the ceiling. Food comes out fast but service is woeful. They never came back to refill our teas. The menu is split into beef noodle soup, specialities and beverages. The two combos seem to be most popular items; the noodle soup combo and the vermicelli/rice BBQ meat combos (A to D). - Herbs - bowls came with lemon, spicy jalapeño peppers, bean sprouts and basil. Typical stuff. - Pho dac biet (#1) ($10.00 large) - we comboed this to try a spring roll ($1.50 extra). Spring roll was crispy but filling was average. Skip it. The beef broth was fantastic; great depth, complexity and some sweetness came through. For meat, there was tendon, tripe, beef balls, thin sliced beef and cooked beef. Everything was good except the cooked beef slices were a tad dry. - Bun bo hue (#14) ($10.00) - cooked beef, Vietnamese ham and chicken balls. Again, the cooked beef slices were a tad dry but the chicken balls (never seen these before) were delicious. Broth was tasty with a good initial kick but salty. Noodles were cooked the way I liked them. Better than I expected but there's better BBH's in the city. Solid bowl of beef pho. Cash only. 3.5 stars.

#5 and #8 Pho Combos w/ Spring Rolls

Back and open for dine-in customers (As of July 1st)!! Pho Hong has re-opened for dine-in service and I couldn't have been more excited to go back for their amazing pho. They have taken extra precautions by installing dividers between each table, and the entire staff is wearing face shields for better safety and hygiene! While their take-out promo is gone, I still really enjoy their combos because of its great value. The spring roll is filled with plenty of pork and veggies, and deep-fried to perfection. The pho itself is massive and super filling, coming with plenty of noodles and beef.

    Beef pho, delicious

We got combo C (pork, shrimp and chicken) which was good. Pho was delicious, however lemongrass beef was chewy and I didn't like it. Ambiance is good, service is great. They offer tea as well. Overall 4 out of 5

Our favorite Viet resto in town!! Their lemongrass chicken is to die for, so juicy and flavourful. Not to mention the portions here are generous. All the condiments are so fresh. So glad they take debit now! Highly recommended !!

Very kind owner/server, and great food at good prices. At least I think our server was the owner or manager...? Anyway, he was very welcoming and attentive. We ordered two very large bowls of pho and really enjoyed it. You should be aware though that they are a cash only place before going here.

This is number 1: beef slices, tendon and balls Order your beef slices separately so they are more fresh!

This one of my favourite places to go eat beef noodles. Their soup base is super flavourful and they give more noodles than other places. I usually order the number 1 small (their special with everything in it). I did try curry there and their seafood noodles and it tasted like their food was frozen. I assume they serve only beef all the time that they didn't bother with fine tuning their other food. Their lemongrass chicken is also pretty good but I've had better ones in Vancouver. Their names is calle Pho Hong beef noodle house, so order their beef noodles or you might be disappointed. My 4 stars are solely for their beef noodles! They're very clean and I love how they dim lights for people to chat. Great place for family, friends, and a night craving for pho. Tip: do not order anything other than beef noodles and their lemongrass chicken Tip: If you order noodles, add 1.50 for spring rolls (fried). It's also pretty good but I've had better.

Poor service. Pho broth was flavourless. Ratio of items in the pho and noodles way off. Too much noodles per bowl.

It was full of flavor and wagyu was tender. Great item. Tonnato was also good. Very solid item. I did not have stacciatella. Tapenade was sour side, with strong olive and roasted pepper flavors stand out. Vongole(savory clams, fermented Taragu mares chilli white wine and parsley, squid ink linguine) Highlight! Clam and Vongole sauce were very delicious! Squid ink linguine was also good. It was good to have sauce with bread. Bistecca(Babette steak, Amaro jus, garlic scapes, frisee and hazelnuts) This item was also very delicious. Medium rare steak was tender(a bit chewy) the garlic scapes, hazelnut and frisée combination was excellent. i really enjoyed having together with meat. Overall, I really liked this restaurant. Juice Bar is open in the evening only, since the space is shared with a café during the daytime. The team is very welcoming even when you arrive early, which is rare for most restaurants. Once you receive your table number for at-the-counter ordering, go inside to chat with the servers. The incredible selection of local and international natural wines blew me away. I was incredibly grateful to try a B.C.-based Lambrusco, which was perfect for the cooler summer temperatures on the shaded patio. The food options are limited, which I prefer, so I would recommend ordering a few of these. The restrooms are easy to find and are very clean, and transportation to and from the bar is easy. Cycling routes are right off the patio, Ubering is simple, and walking is easy. On my second venture to Juice Bar, we had some pretty sad interactions with one of the female-presenting staff. She raised her voice at us multiple times when she wanted us to listen to their directions, and they also treated a few groups poorly. At one point, they came outside and were quite rude to a parking enforcement officer - when it seemed to be the Juice Bar person's fault. At the end of my experience, this person once again raised their voice with our group, demanding we leave the tight indoor space if we were finished - but we were hoping to ask a few more questions to the team. Instead, we left disappointed. My experience here was great, but this staff member should probably take advantage of some self-care or personal skills workshops. Or, just chill and have fun! Hopefully, it was just a bad day for them when we visited. I would typically take more stars off for this interaction, but the rest of the experiences were excellent. We will be sad to see this place leave at the end of September, but I look forward to returning when the space grows up into what comes next!
