With a stormy weather and atmospheric storm happening tonight felt like a perfect night for soup. This is a nice location and has a modern but bright feel to it. The chef special Tokyo Ramen soup bowl is very yummy. Coupled with a beer and an appetizer you have a perfect midweek dinner. The service was good and super polite. I have been to Tokyo a couple times it reminded me of the city. Plus the history of why and how this meal was originally created.

I picked the JINYA recommended items: Brussels Sprouts Tempura: crispy tempura Brussels sprouts with white truffle oil. The Brussels sprouts were tender. I guess it's mean to be eaten on its own, for the truffle flavour. Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen: vegan vegetable broth, tofu, onion, green onion, spinach, crispy onion, garlic chips, garlic oil, chili oil and sesame seeds. Served with thick noodles. Once the ingredients mixed, the chili oil is mild. The thick noodles are pleasant to eat. But too much onions, it leaves a strong aftertaste. :P

Nice spot for a hot bowl of ramen in the Brentwood area. We got seats at the bar and got our noodles promptly. I like the tonkotsu flavor. The egg and nori are nice touches as well.

Upscale ramen place in the Amazing Brentwood complex. This restaurant is actually located at the SE corner of the mall complex. The building is attached to the mall, but can only be accessed from the exterior. Parking is available in the NW side of the mall (free), as well as the paid spots on the S side. The place is nice and large and modern. High ceilings are always nice. Plenty of dark wood trim. Staff are friendly and chatty. No complaints. Tonkotsu black - guessing this is their signature dish. 2 slices of pork, and other goodies in a nice thick (fatty) broth. Definitely my favourite of the 2. Spicy chicken ramen - chicken isn't breaded. Just 2 somewhat thin slices. Served with a dab of hot sauce, in spicy soup. To be honest, this dish is rather mediocre. I'd skip this one. For both bowls, noodle quality is good. Nice and bouncy. Besides the mediocre chicken dish, my other complaint is that the portions are on the small size. So glad I ordered 2 bowls. With that said, there is an option to add aditional toppings or extra noodles. Oh yeah, the pricing is rather high, but so is everything else in this mall after they made it all modern and pretty. Wouldn't mind coming back to try some of their other stuff at some point.

Came with 2 friends to try out their 2nd Anniversary Event $10 Ramen! Located in the compounds of Brentwood Mall and can be accessed from the malls' exterior with it's own entrance. Place has a contemporary Japanese Ramen Bar decor with dark colours and plenty of Japanese art pieces on display. Our group decided to order 2 bowls each of the 3 options: Jinya Tonkotsu Black and Spicy Chicken Ramen. The winner of the two definitely was the Jinya Tonkotsu with two flavourful 2 slices of pork paired with thinner than usual ramen, ultra rich pork stock soup, and last but not least a perfectly cooked soft boiled runny egg. Spicy Chicken Ramen is pretty average consisting of just two pieces of sliced Chicken Breast paired with a bland spicy stock soup. I found the portion sizes are little bit on the lighter side hence the order of 2 bowls. Staff were friendly and efficient even with the increased amount of customers for the event. There is plenty of paid and free parking in the underground and street level parking lots.

Awesome ramen in the heart of Brentwood in Burnaby. We stopped by for lunch at around 1 on Friday and they sat us promptly. I got the spicy chicken ramen with egg and broccoli and it really hit the spot. There is a good amount of noodles in the soup. It was very tasty. I like that they have fresh garlic that you can squeeze in your bowl.

I don't know if each location follows a recipe but this one definitely doesn't taste like the one Downtown. I've had many bowls of Ramen and my criteria for a high review is always consistency. When the bowl tastes different from my last visit or a different location of the same company, then my review goes lower. Noodle texture was on the softer side, broth not as creamy, egg was good. Other toppings, standard. It's on the smaller side inside with hard to find parking but that's secondary. The service was good and the ambiance was good as well. My review is based solely on the food. Ordered the Tonkotsu Black, Gyoza , Poke Taco ( small size )

Jinya Ramen just opened in Brentwood. My biggest complain here is the parking. They have other food options if you decided to not get ramen. I came here with a friend to grab take out. The take out item was well laid out when they gave it to us. I got the Tonkatsu Ramen. They had the soup and noodles separated. Prices are more expensive compared to other ramen places. Jinya ramen started in the USA. It is not a chain from Japan. I found the portion size a bit small compared to other ramen places. I also got an appetizer edamame and a ramune drink to go along with my meal and that was $30. If you do take out, they have instructions on how to assemble your meal. I feel like the taste of Ramen Jinya has gone down hill over the years. I used to love Ramen Jinya. Note that there is happy hour special. One thing interesting here is that they serve beer and not just Japanese beer. I don't recommend doing take out. Dine in is always a better choice for any soup noodles meal.

Tried new vegan dish, it was spicy but a bit too garlic-y for my taste. I'll stick to their spicy creamy vegan. The lycheetini was pleasant. Overall service and ambiance were great and they weren't too busy unlike on their usual weekday evenings.

Prices are fair, considering the cost of Ramen in Metro Vancouver. I came during their anniversary event, so it was incredibly busy. The staff were incredibly accommodating, and made the time to check in and refill my tea and water, despite how busy it was. So big kudos to them. Portion sizes are normal, and the broth was rich, which is how I enjoy it.

We dropped by Jinya Ramen at The Amazing Brentwood for lunch.   Jinya Tonkotsu Original Wonton Chicken Ramen Crispy Chicken Brussel Sprouts Tempura Caramelized Cauliflower  Brussel Sprouts Tempura was quite disappointing. It was supposed to be made with white truffle oil, but we couldn't taste any truffle flavor in it. We'd had this same dish at another location of Jinya Ramen years ago; back then the truffle flavor was very strong and we loved it. This time the truffle flavor was completely non existent. Our daughter wasn't too crazy about her Wonton Chicken. A standard Chinese version of Wonton would have probably worked better for her. This dish was very forgettable.  Everything else on the table was good. Their ramen soup and noodles is what they are known for, and they do that very well. They're a great option if ramen soup and noodles is what you're craving. Service: Good Parking: Free parking nearby, at ground level Location: 4567 Lougheed Hwy. #1629, Burnaby

I have to say that I was a little thrown off by the reviews on Yelp. I believe this can be a 5 star establishment with some refinements to the menu (saying that there is a spice scale or a bit more explanation about the variety of foods) but overall it exceeded my expectations. I loved the selection of food as it was not all "ramen". The appetizers were so delicious I almost want to go back just for them. The ramen is some good quality ramen and I know there is a big contingency to fight against in a mostly Asian community but I can truly say that it was able to hold it's own. The seating area was rather loud given that the area was small but I get it. I actually didn't mind the noise or the proximity we were to the next table. It was actually comforting more than annoying or bothersome. With some easy refinements, I believe this place can up it a notch to 5 stars.

Enjoyed a much overdue catchup dinner with one of my BFFs. We shared the Pork Gyoza and Crispy Chicken & Salad (added from combo) as appetizers. She got the Yuzu Shio Delight and I chose the JINYA Tonkatsu Black (we both added corn). And I got a Lycheetini.. cause, why not? To no surprise.. super delicious meal. Broth was flavourful, perfectly soft-boiled egg, and hella noodles! Finished every last bite.

Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. Alas, we had reservations at Lunch Lady up the street. We should have stayed at Odd Society. Lunch Lady was a disappointment. Try Odd Society out as both a distillery and cocktail bar. In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

We also got an old fashion and a whiskey sour and they were also delicious. You can the tell the owner takes great pride in this establishment as he was always making sure we were ok with our order. Beautiful inside and atmosphere was great. Hope to visit again soon. PS... we didn't take a pic of food bc we devoured it fast

My brother had the gin martini, and while not a fan of gin straight up, it had a nice smooth finish that I could appreciate.
